Almost everybody I know is looking for ways to save a buck here and there. But some of us go to extremes.
Like Rubba Band Grant on Twitter here:
What’s the cheapest shit y’all ever did? One time I went and got a rental car of my exact make and model, manually swapped all 4 tires from my car to the rental, then took it back. Had a whole new set of tires for bout $75

Now, we’re pretty sure that’s just theft…though maybe he was joking? Whatever, we’re not the cops. We’re just invested weirdos who went on to scroll endlessly through the replies and find a bunch of other surprising ways that people *ahem* saved money.
Some of them truly were just “being cheap,” but others…well, again. We’re not the cops.
So let’s just look at the tweets.
10. You are banned
This is like a really low key sequel to Ocean’s 11.
A customer left behind Ray-bans & never claimed them so I took them, went to the Sunglass Hut kiosk & told them I lost the case. The guy gave me one for free & even cleaned the glasses. Then I took em to Nordstrom, exchanged them and got a receipt. I returned those & got $200

9. Stay on target
Um…yeah this is just theft. Like, three times over.
Stole some shit out of target and returned it a hour later, got a store credit for $130 and used the store credit to get groceries. Mind you I was grocery shopping as a favor for someone and they were goin to pay me back, so 2 days later I got $130

8. Peak Philly
I wish I had those kinds of skills.
I photoshopped a meter ticket to prove I had paid the meter. I got out of a PPA ticket. Any Philly people here … you know that’s peak Philly. Beating the PPA is life goals.

7. The tube
How devilishly clever.
Me & my mom bought a tv put our old broken tv in the box sealed it with duck tape and returned it with the new receipt

6. Complimentary
Eh, who’s gonna know?
Show up to eat breakfast at a hotel even tho I wasn’t staying at the hotel

5. Stacks on stacks
I’m sure you looked lovely.
I didn’t feel like paying for luggage on a flight so I wore like 8 bras and like 4 oversized t-shirts then stuffed my laptop bag with underwear and other clothes. It was an 8 hour flight with a layover

4. Phoney business
If I’m reading this right, I’m pretty sure you’re just describing blackmail.

3. I scream
Hope nobody got fired.
I took this girl out for ice cream and I didn’t have enough money to pay for it. So there was dead fly at our table and I scooped it in my cup and showed them and got both our ice creams for free

2. Free 99
Again, sure hope nobody got fired.
In high school I order about $50 worth of Pizza Hut and drinks from Uber eats called Pizza Hut and said our pizza was wrong got my money back and did the same with Uber eats just claimed they never came. then called my banks and claim fraud for Pizza Hut and Uber eats. Free 99

1. Punching up
That’s a short con I can get behind.
I worked @ hamburger shack called Short Stop & we were giving out the punch cards 4 anytime you buy over 10$ worth of food u would get a punch, so I use to punch like 10 cards and give them to my bf so when I got off he would go to the other short stops in the area & get us food. pic.twitter.com/kprgQw6mkw

So remember, if you gotta save money, maybe try to like…avoid jail in the process.
