Artist Creates IKEA Instructions on How to Make Horror and Sci-Fi Characters

As a big fan of all things horror and science fiction, I have to say that I LOVE these illustrations.

They come to us from an illustrator named Ed Harrington who lives in Virginia.

Among other artworks, Harrington draws characters from horror and sci-fi movies as though they were instructions from IKEA.

The end products are totally awesome and also pretty funny, if you ask me.

Let’s take a look at Harrington’s work…you might never look at Freddy Krueger the same way again…

1. Don’t move, dirtbag!

RoboCop for the win!

2. Avoid this Alien at all costs.

Or else you’ll regret it…

3. One, two, Freddy’s coming for you.

Three, four, better lock your door.

4. For all the Star Wars fanatics out there.

Will he ever escape from this?!?!

5. And then there’s this guy…

Build your own Darth Vader!

6. Beware of zombies!

Especially those from The Walking Dead!

7. I heard you’re looking for Candyman…

Definitely not someone you want to run into…

8. Creepy Carrie! Creepy Carrie!

One of the movies that ruined my childhood.

9. This also ruined my childhood!

Damien from The Omen.

10. Hannibal the Cannibal.

Hello, Clarice…

11. The creepy kid from Pet Sematary!

Also known as Gage. If you haven’t seen it, you’ll never look at a scalpel or an Achilles tendon the same way ever again…

12. Cool! He-Man rules!

Masters of the Universe!

Those are awesome!

And what an amazingly original idea, right?

What other characters would you like to see Ed Harrington illustrate in this fashion?

Tell us what you think in the comments!

A Couple Turns Memorable Moments with Their Baby Into Great Comics

One of Those Days is a web comic created by married couple Yehuda and Maya Devir of Tel Aviv, Israel. They’re both artists, though its unclear if they both contribute to the actual artwork of the comic, or if it’s solely inked by Yehuda (aka “Jude”.) Either way, the comic has a long history of entertaining and inspiring through its humorous and heartwarming depictions of the tiny, meaningful moments of married life.

It has amassed quite an audience, with 5.5 million followers on Instagram, as well as lots of accolades and award nominations:

But the central theme of the comic has changed lately due to a corresponding change in their own lives: they’re now parents! And their depictions of life with their daughter Ariel are incredibly relatable to anybody with kids.

15. Pain and love

It’s a magical, messy moment.

14. A rush of affection

She’s just got a funny way of showing it.

13. Spooky times

Who doesn’t love a first Halloween?

12. Time apart

The separation anxiety is real.

I miss you already…???? If I thought giving birth was the hardest thing a woman had to go through in her life then I was wrong! Separating a woman from her baby is a million times harder. I thank every day that we have been blessed with a job we enjoy and make millions of people happy with us, but the work requires us to travel quite a bit, which means we have to leave Ariel in the hands of her loving grandmothers. Maya is a true hero the way she flies off for work every time despite the difficulty in parting from Ariel and manages to put her future ahead of her own personal struggle. She keeps saying that separating from Ariel is the hardest thing she's ever experienced, and it doesn't get easier from time to time, even though it makes sense it will. So, there is no sense in parenting… Only what the heart feels. Being a career person while raising a family is perhaps one of the most difficult challenges we would have to face in life. I don't know what we would do without both of our amazing mothers. I guess mother love to her child has no expiration date. Here are Some Funny and Painful Glamour Shots For You to Enjoy

Remember when people went to their local malls to get glamour shots?

Of course, you do!

You got all dolled up, put on some fancy duds, sprayed a ton of hair spray onto your head, and then smiled BIG for the camera.

And the results were usually…hilarious…

Let’s relive those days together with these wonderful glamour shots…try not to cringe too much.

A good chunk of these photos are from an Instagram account called Bad Glamour Bios. These folks find old glamour shots online and then give them very funny (fake) bios.

Let’s dig in!

Family Uses Chalk Art to Go on Adventures Without Leaving Home

Everyone is looking for great, fun, creative, interactive ways to entertain their kids at home – and obviously, in the current season, that goes double (or maybe even triple).

People who have kids of a certain age always have sidewalk chalk in their arsenal. That said, you probably haven’t thought to use it the way this Atlanta family is employing theirs.

Abbey Burns Tucker and her four daughters have not only been drawing amazing, colorful pictures, but interacting with them for the absolutely cutest pictures.

She told Bored Panda that the idea arrived when her oldest drew a bunch of balloons, and she took a picture of her youngest “holding” them.

The rest, as they say, is history.

12. That looks like so much fun.

And wayyyyy safer than a regular trampoline.

This Cemetery Is a Colorful Resting Place for the Dead

In small towns, everybody knows everyone else’s business — there are no secrets and no hiding, period.

In the tiny town of Sapanta, Romania, that sentiment even applies in death. When its residents die, their lives are memorialized with truthful and often harsh words, pictures and symbols on their gravestones at a place known as The Merry Cemetery.

The work is the brainchild of a man named Stan Ioan Pătraş, who got his start carving crosses for the cemetery when he was just 14. Over the course of his life, he began implementing more elaborate designs that included poems and pictures.

When Pătraş died in 1977, his apprentice Dumitru Pop took over the important work.

Aside from being cheeky, the gravestones are absolutely gorgeous works of art:

Photo Credit: Aspusa under CC BY-NC-SA 2.0

This cemetery really does seem more “merry” and less “doom and gloom:”

Photo Credit: John Spooner under CC BY-NC 2.0

Such intricate details:

Photo Credit: John Spooner under CC BY-NC 2.0

One of the sassy poems goes like this:

Underneath this heavy cross
 / Lies my mother-in-law poor
/ Had she lived three days more
/ I would be here and she would read / You that are passing by / Try not to wake her up
/ For if she comes back home
/ She’ll bite my head off / But I will act in the way
/ That she will not return
 / Stay here my dear
 Mother-in-law.

Photo Credit: Steve Hall under CC BY-NC-ND 2.0

If you ever decide to take a trip to Romania, be sure to put the Merry Cemetery on your list. Even if you can’t understand the poems on the gravestones, you can still appreciate the artistry and beauty of this place.

What do you think of this unique cemetery? Does it honor the dead appropriately? Yes or no?

We’d love to hear from you!

This Dad’s Solution To His Kids Fighting Over His Lap? This Awesome Triple Rocking Chair.

If you have more than one child (or one child and pets, or more than one pet) you likely know that problems arise when they realize you only have one lap – and someone else is already in it. My 17 month-old and my puppy regularly oust each other from that warm, cozy spot between my folded knees.

Reading a book is, of course, the time when laps are at a premium, and for one father, not being able to hold all three of his babies and tell them a story was too much – so he did something about it.

This was the first "outing" of my StoryTime Rocking Chair. It won first place at a Fredericksburg art exhibit. Rose, at…

Hal Taylor is, in addition to being a father with three kiddos, a master craftsman. He loves reading to his kids, but after the third one – a daughter named Rose – was born, he realized he’d run out of lap (but not love).

He created a beautiful, one-of-a-kind (for now) masterpiece he calls the Storytime Rocking Chair. There are seats for at least 3 kids (I think you could do 4, with 2 on your lap).

And if you’re thinking this is something you could make yourself, well…not if you’re as good with wood craftmanship as Hal is.

He told Bored Panda “there are over 200 precisely cut and shaped pieces of wood which I use to make up the 19 back braces. That is more pieces than you will find in 20 normal rocking chairs.”

The man-hours and materials are two reasons he’s selling his hand-crafted rocker for around $7,000 online.

If you’ve got the cash and a bunch of kids, I’d say it’s a piece that would be handed down for generations to come.

Royal Pet Portraits You Need to See

These royal pet portraits are AMAZING.

They come to us from a company called Crown and Paw and, let’s face it, all our pets are royalty to us and they deserve to be immortalized in that way.

Do you think your dog may be the reincarnation of a noble canine from centuries ago?

Well, here’s your chance to let the whole world know about it!

Let’s look at these works by Crown and Paw. Be sure to check out their website, as well.

1. Just look at that piece of work!

The bird is very pleased with this representation.

2. Out in nature, where he belongs.

A former nobleman…

3. What the duck?

This is brilliant!

6. Look at this fella.

7. Awwww. Good dog!

Love the pearls!

10. They nailed the underbite.

He loves it!

11. Here’s a great reaction video.

See how much joy these portraits bring to people?

12. And finally, there’s Millie the hedgehog.

That’s all, folks!

Was I right about this one or what?!?!

So cool!

I don’t currently have a pet, but I can think of a ton of family members and friends that would want these for their dogs and cats.

Have you had a portrait done for your pet?

If so, please share a photo with us in the comments!
