Drop Everything! You Can Pay to Have Cuddle Time with Cows at This Farm in New York.

This might be a gamechanger.

Drop what you’re doing, because it’s officially cuddle time.

At the Mountain Horse Farm in Naples, New York, you, yes YOU, can cuddle with the cows for an hour (if you pay $75). Just think about what a great stress reliever that could be for all of us. Personally, I wish there was one of these cuddle farms closer to where I live.

Take a look at how soothing and relaxing this looks…

A Guy Called off His Wedding After His Fiancee Nearly Killed His Dog. Then the Internet Reacted.

Most adult humans takes the responsibility of owning a pet seriously. Even if a pet is not yours, but is in your care, most people do their very best to ensure no harm comes to the animal, because…it’s a living thing.

This guy, though, found out the hard (almost deadly, for his dog) way that his fiancee wasn’t what you would call responsible at all – and that she also wasn’t the kind of person he wanted to have in his life long term.

He posted the story on a Reddit thread, asking if he was the asshole and, well…keep reading.

AITA for cancelling my wedding because fiancee almost got my dog killed? from AmItheAsshole

So basically, this guy left his dog because she wanted the dog there for her party, gave her clear instructions on how to keep the dog safe, and then almost lost his dog because she couldn’t be bothered.

Honestly…if this was an isolated incident of poor decision making, maybe he overreacted. Maybe.

But once you consider the fact that he’s noticed her exercising similar bad judgment in the past, yeah. You could never trust her with your pets or your kids or your car or your house, so what’s the point?

FWIW, most Redditors agreed that the guy was not, in fact, an asshole at all, but someone who had just realized that he should cut his losses now and not later.

1. You know what to do…

She clearly doesn’t mean that much to you, so yeah, leave over this.

I have a cat whom I adore beyond reason and if my current BF accidentally hurt him, I’d be pissed and upset but your dog isn’t dead. If he’s more important than your woman, that relationship is doomed. I’ve been in a relationship where I would have chosen my cat over them. That is not a good relationship.

2. Marriage is doomed…

ESH – and reading through your replies to most people it seems you’ve got a lot of issues with your partners behaviour, and you were possibly looking for a good enough reason in your head to end it.

I hazard a guess that if everything you’ve listed has been getting to you over time, that the marriage would not have lasted long after that.

3. Think of the children…

NTA.

That level of carelessness could lead to death. What would people say if she had done the same thing with a kid around?

It’s pretty obvious how you feel, getting out now seems like a better option than having this fester until the divorce.

4. You had ONE job!

NTA.

You asked her to do one thing. Put the dog away. I saw a comment where you said they kept him out because they wanted to pet him and stuff. This is what makes her TA. She deliberately ignored what you asked of her after she asked for the dog to stay there, and then she neglected to watch the dog or put the dog away later when they started drinking. It’s neglect of an animal.

It’s really pissing me off that everyone is giving off ‘it’s just a dog’ vibes. Like wtf. This wouldn’t of happened if the dog was put away like she was asked. It wasn’t an accident or a mistake because she left the dog out on purpose for entertainment. I think this is a legitimate reason for not marrying her. It’s not like they could get married and be happy and laugh about it in the future like ‘do you remember on you hen party when my dog almost died due to your stupidity? Hahahahahahahaha’

No.

5. No, it wasn’t just an accident!

NTA.

I don’t understand the people saying, “But it’s just an accident!” She went against clear, easy instructions by OP and should have enough common sense to keep that stuff in a safe area in the first place. She also has a history of questionable decisions. What if this was their child in the ER?

OP, block her family and take a break from talking to yours. You don’t have to forgive her just because your dog lived this time. And you don’t have to stay and marry her just because you’ve been together for 4 years. You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone.

And the ones who still thought he was overreacting?

6. It’s YOUR dog…

YTA.

She messed up by not doing as you said but it wasn’t only on her.

You say she is a careless person and you give a bunch of examples, then isn’t it your job to take care of your dog and not leave it in a dangerous situation with her know her carelessness?

I’ll be honest though, given how you mention other minor things she does/did, it seems to me you were already looking for any reason to bail on the wedding. You were getting cold feet and are using this as an excuse to get out of a years long relationship and marriage commitment.

She made a mistake and had already been crying for hours, as you mention, so she didn’t do it deliberately. I’d even understand if she hadn’t shown remorse at her mistake or something.

There is a reason why all those around you are saying you are over reacting, even your mun and your best friends. I don’t think you are overreacting though, I think you are just using this as an excuse to bail, knowingly or unknowingly, because you have cold feet.

Edit: Thanks for the Gold and Silver

7. Bro… seriously?

YTA as it is a massive over reaction. However, you seem to have bigger issues.

You say you’re not holding on, but you clearly are.

8. You’re bother better off without each other….

YTA. OMG YTA.

It was an accident. The way you speak about her is atrocious.

Please leave her so she can find someone who doesn’t think she’s an idiot.

I don’t know, but I definitely wouldn’t trust them with my dog.

Good News for Pet Owners! Silent Fireworks Exist and a Town in Italy Is Already Using Them.

You know who doesn’t love the excitement of a good fireworks show?

Your dog or cat, that’s who.

Which explains why July 5 is the busiest day for animal shelters throughout the United States. The spectacular fireworks shows used to celebrate the nation’s freedom means a night of confusion and fear for many pets who will do anything to get away from the noise. Even if it means running away from home.

If the poor runaways don’t get scooped up and taken to a shelter, they can sometimes end up getting hit by a car.  They can also suffer nausea and heart problems from the stress.

But one town in Italy has decided to put pets and wildlife first when it comes to city-wide celebrations.

Collecchio in the Parma province has required its citizens to use only silent fireworks, protecting animals from the stress and anxiety of a traditional cracking and booming fireworks display.

Silent fireworks have all the brightness and illumination of regular fireworks. There’s even the noise of the ignition, but it’s not loud enough to frighten animals. No big bang and pop to scare pets or birds. Just a lovely trail of sparkles in the sky.

Setti Fireworks, an Italian company, designs the quieter pyrotechnics with customized colors and designs for Collecchio, which has made it against the law to use normal fireworks within their city.

The result is better visual effects, colors and even lasers that have replaced the noise, keeping spectators’ excitement levels up and animals’ stress levels down.

How do silent fireworks…work?

Actually, they are not a new invention. Classic shows use silent fireworks all the time to accompany big bangs. Comet tails that fizzle are a good example of these. So maybe they aren’t technically silent, but they are much less startling.

Animal friendly displays are beginning to catch on in popularity in many countries around the globe. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone – small children, veterans dealing with battle trauma and our pets – could enjoy the fun of a celebratory fireworks display?

Let’s hope less scary fireworks shows become the norm soon.

A Study Found That Great White Sharks Are Scared of Killer Whales

Sharks are pretty fearsome creatures – plenty of people are pretty scared of them. So you might not imagine that even one of the largest, fiercest predators in the world fears something else.

And no, it’s not human beings (though with the rate we’re demolishing the shark population, it probably should be – we kill between 100 million and 273 million).

According to new research published in Scientific Reports, the great whites off the Northern California coast turn tail when a pod of orcas show up – and then they avoid the area for up to a year afterward, says scientist Scot Anderson in a statement.

“These are huge white sharks. Some are over 18 feet long, and they usually rule the roost here.”

Compartilhe ? #Tilikum #SaveOrcas #WildAndFree #EmptyTheTanks

Every September and December, great white sharks migrate to the Farallon islands to hunt elephant seals – a meal that orcas also enjoy. And when the latter decide to show up for dinner, the former decline to share hunting grounds.

“When confronted by orcas, white sharks will immediately vacate their preferred hunting ground and will not return for up to a year, even though the orcas are only passing through,” confirms Dr. Salvador Jorgnsen, a scientist at Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the lead author of the study.

Morbidity and Mortality of Orcas Living in Captivity: Causes of Illness and Death (Part 6) – A 1979 review of the causes of death of 17 captive orcas in North America who had died since 1965 revealed that infectious diseases were the primary cause of death. Published statements and records from the US National Marine Mammal Inventory and USDA Inspection Reports demonstrate that, between 1971 and 2017, there have been 35 documented orca deaths at SeaWorld facilities alone. Regarding the causes of death, the most commonly implicated conditions were viral, bacterial, and fungal infections, gastrointestinal disease, and trauma. Despite “world class" veterinary care and therapeutic intervention, at least 15 of the 22 orcas who have died in US marine theme parks between 1990 and 2010 succumbed to infectious and inflammatory diseases, including eight who reportedly died of pneumonia; three of encephalitis; three of bacteremia; and one of leptomeningitis. – Many of the infections captive orcas succumb to are opportunistic infections – infections by pathogens that are usually harmless but can cause disease under certain unnatural, unhealthy, or compromised conditions. These include a weakened immune system, chronic exposure to chemical irritants or trauma to the skin, excessive or improper use of antimicrobials, and an imbalance in the microbiota of the body or environment (which may exist in tanks). Jett and Ventre found that another common cause of death of captive orcas was gastrointestinal ulceration. Gastric ulceration is typically caused by prolonged stress, as well as being associated with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. Gastric disorders such as ulcers have also been associated with behavioral stereotypies in other captive animals. – Although unreported – and unlikely, due to their kinetic nature and time spent below the surface – in free-ranging orca populations, mosquito-transmitted diseases have killed at least two captive orcas in marine theme parks. – Continued Below “The Harmful Effects of Captivity and Chronic Stress on the Well-Being of Orcas” edited by @cetacean.inspiration

Everyone is afraid of something, I suppose, and from what I know of orcas, I wouldn’t be hanging around while they were eating, either!

A Woman Wanted Her Pet Buried with Her, so the Healthy Dog Was Euthanized

This is pretty messed up.

We all love our pets like family, but this story makes my blood boil. It reminds of when some billionaire leaves a ton of money to their cat or something.

I mean I know we all love our pets like family, but this is absurd.

And cruel.

A woman in Richmond, Virginia, had it clearly stated in her will that her beloved dog Emma, a Shih Tzu mix, was to be put to sleep and buried with her at the time of her death. Workers at the Chesterfield County Animal Services were heartbroken that they had to honor the recently deceased woman’s wishes, but they still euthanized the healthy dog. They actually tried to appeal to the woman’s estate, but to no avail. The dog’s owner was 67-year-old Anita Cullop-Thompson.

The manager of the animal care facility said, “We did suggest they could sign the dog over on numerous occasions — because it’s a dog we could easily find a home for and re-home. But ultimately, they came back in on March 22nd and redeemed the dog.”

Emma was taken directly to a vet’s office, euthanized, and then cremated. Her ashes were returned to the deceased woman’s estate. As you can imagine, this story went viral and greatly upset many people, including big-time celebrities.

The Humane Society of the United States is clear on where they stand on the issue. Vice President Amy Nichols said, “It is a heartbreaking situation. While we don’t know the specifics of this case, as a general matter, we don’t support the euthanasia of healthy and adoptable animals when other alternatives exist, such as re-homing of the pet.”

Share your thoughts about this story in the comments. We’d like to hear from you!
