Here’s the Mystery Man Voicing Freddie Mercury in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

Rami Malek is the talk of the town all around Hollywood thanks to his recent Oscar win for Best Actor, portraying the legendary Freddie Mercury in “Boheminan Rhapsody.” But you’d better believe taking on a role like that took a LOT of hard work learning to sing… and another vocalist.

Marc Martel is a Canadian singer who plays a prominent role in the hit movie Bohemian Rhapsody – but you wouldn’t recognize his face if you passed him on the street. The film relied heavily on Martel’s uncanny ability to mimic Freddie Mercury’s voice in order to get the perfect soundtrack for the film, while still allowing star Rami Malek to portray the Queen vocalist onscreen. Malek’s voice and master recordings of Mercury, who died in 1991, were also used in the film, but Martel played an important part in the process.

Martel is credited in the film with providing “additional vocals”, but he signed a nondisclosure agreement, so he can’t get into too many details about how much his voice was actually featured.

Martel has previously gained notoriety on YouTube for his ability to imitate the iconic singer. His audition tape for Queen drummer Robert Taylor’s tribute band went viral in 2011.

Martel tours with his tribute band Ultimate Queen Celebration and has released an album of Queen cover songs. And though Malek is a bone fide star, Martel’s YouTube videos singing Queen songs have made him a minor celebrity in his own right.

Martel previously fronted a band called Downhere, and it was the bass player in that band that originally commented on his ability to sound like Freddie Mercury. Good thing he spoke up!

Learn how Rami Malek “sunk his teeth” into the role of a lifetime

Rami Malek also got a lot of help from dental technician Chris Lyons, who’s given actors like Meryl Streep and Tilda Swinton their chops. Learn all about about Malek’s teeth transformation:

New Survey Reveals Most People Are More Affection to Their Dogs Than to Their Humans

This isn’t really surprising, especially to dog owners. We humans are getting absolutely obsessed with our furbabies.

A recent survey on Rover.com found that, a lot of folks are far more affectionate and loving (in certain ways) towards their dogs than they are towards their own partners and spouses. According to te survey, nearly half of pet owners revealed they had plans to celebrate this past Valentine’s day with their pet.

Rover surveyed 1450 U.S. adults who are dating or in a relationship and found that 67% confess to gazing lovingly into their pet’s eyes and 33% do this more often with their dog than their spouse or significant other. 25% of dog owners take more pictures with their dog than the humans in their life, 25% spend more money on their dog than their partner, and 50% cuddle with their dog more often than the person they’re dating.

Not only that, but 41% of pet owners claim that they wouldn’t consider dating someone who didn’t get along with their pets and 53% would break up with a current partner if they were allergic to their beloved pets.

It’s not all one-sided, though. Phil Tedeschi, a University of Denver researcher and member of Rover’s Dog People Panel, says that our pooches experience and express empathy when they know we’re in distress.

Which is more than we can say for all significant others out there…

Check out the fun infographics below for more interesting stats on how pet owners treat their cuddle buddies as opposed to the humans they claim to love!

I mean. My dog was my first baby, so I get it. I’m sure you do, too.

People Share Stories of Times They Got the Help They Needed, and We Can All Learn from Them

While the narrative of the “self-made man” is one that’s been pushed a lot over the last few decades, the fact of the matter is that everyone needs a helping hand now and then. Even the world’s most powerful CEO is helpless if his sports car breaks down on a remote country road. There’s no shame in it, and it’s important that we give people the help they need when they need it, because you never know how much it might mean to the person you’re helping.

These 10 Twitter users shared their personal stories about when they were in dire straits and received a helping hand that they haven’t ever forgotten about.

1. “It is never wrong to help someone.”

2. It gets better.

3. Everyone deserves a chance.

4. A little goes a long way…

This is why it is important to never assume anything about anyone, because you never really know where they’ve been and what they are going through unless you’ve walked in their shoes. And if you know someone is in need, help them out in any way you can. Paying it forward is real.

Here’s Why Young People Prefer Saying “No Problem” Instead of “You’re Welcome”

Millennials take a lot of heat from older people for the way they do things. In many cases, it stems from the older generation wanting the younger one to do things their way. But things change, and it’s not always bad – like how the youth respond to “thank you”.

Professor Tom Nichols branded himself the quintessential grumpy old man back in 2015 when he tweeted this angry response to what he perceived as a rash of poor customer service.

“Dear Every Cashier in America: the proper response to ‘thank you’ is ‘you’re welcome,’ not ‘no problem.’ And *you’re* suppose to thank *me*”

He received a number of responses, the vast majority mocking his attitude, but it one person’s detailed and thoughtful reply makes a lot of sense.

Bottom line? It’s not about being polite, it’s that our views on gratitude are evolving.

“Actually, the “you’re welcome/no problem” issue is simply a linguistics misunderstanding. Older ppl tend to say “you’re welcome,” younger ppl tend to say “no problem.” This is because for older people the act of helping or assisting someone is seen as a task that is not expected of them, but is them doing extra, so it’s them saying, ‘I accept your thanks because I know I deserve it.”

“No problem, however, is used because younger people feel not only that helping or assisting someone is a given and expected but also that it should be stressed that your need for help was no burden to them (even if it was).”

“Basically, older people think help is a gift you give, younger people think help is a requirement.”

The explanation, of course, doesn’t apply across the board. There are people in every generation that view service as “no problem” and people who feel like they are doing others a favor, but the idea that “no problem” is somehow disrespectful just isn’t right.

The people who use it are, quite genuinely, sharing that helping you out is “no problem.”

Maybe, if we realized that doing the right thing – simple or not so much – is actually “no problem” we’d have fewer problems in general.

I mean, maybe not, but it’s worth a shot.
