When you live with someone, that’s when you realize that everyone’s daily rituals are so unique…and some of them could even be considered weird.
This person could either be a roommate or a significant other, but either way you’re now plugged into another human being’s routine..for better or for worse.
But hey, to each their own, right?
We’re all weird in our own ways and, even if you think you aren’t, you’re weird too. And so am I!
That’s why this Twitter thread about peoples’ unique daily rituals is a lot of fun to read. Let’s take a look!
1. Watch out for the bear!
That was a close call.
every time our satnav says “bear left” or “bear right” my boyfriend and I will look around frantically going “there’s a bear?!?!”. Been doing that for 6 years, don’t think it’s going to get old.

2. The rubber duck.
But don’t speak of it…
I share a flat with my lovely mum. There is a tiny, old rubber duck in our bathroom, and every day, one of us will plant it in the other’s things for the other to find. We never speak of the rubber duck. It’s just a ritual.

3. What did you do this time?
Are you ever gonna learn?
Whenever a helicopter goes overhead my wife always says ‘they’re out looking for you again’.

4. I fully support this.
I mean, don’t you…?
Every morning I, or my girlfriend (depending on who gets up first) sings a “good morning song” to our pet rabbit, to let him know his breakfast of parsley is on its way.

5. A minute in either direction.
Maybe this is a smart thing…
I tie my shoelaces before every car journey so I’m a minute or so behind where I’m meant to be on the road, thus dodging fate.

6. Time for you to go back inside.
She just wants a quick jaunt.
Every day, dog and I leave for our walk through the back door. Cat wakes up then follows through the cat flap. I have to let her back in through the front door or she follows us on our walk. She goes back to where she was sleeping and waits for us to return. Every. Single. Day. pic.twitter.com/bM3mg5P3o7

7. Every day.
A nice ritual.
Every day, on my way to bed, I head into the 4yo’s bedroom and rotate him (he will be upside down and on top of the covers) while removing all the pieces of the Lego policevan that he’s gone to sleep cuddling. Rebuilding it and placing it on his bedside table

8. Sing along!
Sounds like fun!
When we get breakfast, we sing ‘Let’s get cereal! Cereal!’ to the tune of let’s get physical.

9. This is for the Dear Leader.
Show some respect!
Our washing machine is from South Korea and chimes a little melody when a drying cycle is finished. My girlfriend and I decided that it is in fact playing the North Korean national anthem, so whenever it goes off we solemnly stand with our hand over our heart staring into space.

10. I’m home, Mom…
Well, isn’t that nice?
I have to text my Mum when I get in from work so she knows I’m safe. I’m 51.

11. Telling stories.
All the animals are getting involved.
Every time our cat or dog makes a noise we say ‘they didn’t!?’ If they ‘reply’ we follow up with ‘they never!?’ and ‘what, today!?’ and so on, like they’re telling us an amazing story. This has now escalated to any animal we come across. Pets, cows, zoo animals…

12. Don’t fall in.
An old classic.
This is my husband’s. If I say I’m going to the loo, he’ll always reply “Don’t fall in.” We’ve been together 15 years and I haven’t fallen in yet, so I suppose it works.

13. Time to split up.
But it won’t be forever…
When I go shopping with my husband we often go into different shops and Every Time I say “I think the time has come for us to split up” and he replies “are we separating ?” And I say “yes, but let’s meet up later and get back together”. Always.
