If you already have vacation plans booked for 2021 or 2022 and they don’t include Universal Studios, you might want to reconsider.
The reason why is that’s when Universal Studios, in both Orlando and Hollywood, will open the gates to their brand spanking new Super Nintendo World.
Disney execs are probably adding more single malt scotch money to their line item budget because these will be trying times for them. Not only does Universal Studios Orlando enjoy the outrageously popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter, they’re adding an entire world dedicated to Super Nintendo. Hollywood gets one too!
According to Newsweek, “It will be filled with incredibly fun rides, shops, a restaurant and interactive gameplay throughout the land. And there will be something for everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience.”
We are all on a “need to know,” basis, however on the details, but their Power Up Bands alone are to die for. Each character–Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi and Toad–get their own brightly-colored, specially styled band.
Once the bands are purchased, you can connect them to an app on your smartphone. Then as you enter the park, you are connected to “dozens of iconic Nintendo items throughout the land in a truly seamless and innovative way,” said a demonstrator earlier this year as a scant few details were coming out. “And the app will keep track of their adventures and any items they earn along the way — like coins, stamps, and others.”
It will be like you’re in the game.
There are other virtual games too, like collecting keys for upgrades and playing “boss battles.”
If you simply can’t wait, then you can book a trip to Japan for a early look at Universal Studios Japan, where you can have a Mario Kart experience and ride Yoshi’s Adventure.

Otherwise, hang tight until Orlando opens their Super Nintendo World in 2023, and Hollywood in 2021 or 2022.
I love having something to look forward to!
