In Ghana, second-hand clothing imported from abroad is referred to as “obroni wawo,” or “dead white man’s clothes.” It serves as a source of income for many Ghanaians and provides clothing for some of the world’s poorest people. However, some argue that this trade is detrimental to Ghana’s own garment industry and culture.
