“Hygiene Hand” Will Touch Public Surfaces For You

People are more concerned than ever about picking up germs in public. We’re hyper aware that the majority of bugs enter our body after we’ve touched a surface with our hands, then touched our eyes, nose, or mouth before we’ve had a chance to wash.

Gloves aren’t a good answer, unless you’re going to change them after each time you touch a public surface, but this newly designed brass “Hygiene Hand” just might be.

We quickly hit our goal for the Hygiene Hand on Kickstarter yesterday, and wanted to say thank you to all past and present backers. More importantly, we're grateful that we have the ability to utilize our resources from our design team, to local manufacturers to produce a tool that will minimize the spread of germs in your everyday life. In these uncertain times, we're doing what we can to contribute, and hope you're able to do the same. Help cannot (and should not) be measured in size, but in the simple act of helping. Something as small as listening to a friend/loved one, and even the act of isolating yourself is a positive contribution. Please know we're also doing our best to speed up production to get these into your hands sooner than later. We hope you're all staying safe and are well. – The Hygiene Hand by our parent company @statgear is a EDC tool which fits on your keychain and is used to help decrease the spreading of germs while performing some of your everyday tasks. When thinking about the everyday tasks we encounter, we wanted to help "flatten the curve" by making a tool which allowed you to touch buttons, sign digital screens, and even open doors WITHOUT the use of your finger/hand touching the same surfaces as 100's of other people! The Hygiene Hand is made from solid brass which is inherently anti-microbial, meaning viruses are unable to naturally thrive. In addition, it's eco-friendly, durable, and beautiful (this will develop a beautiful patina over time). It's also proudly made in the USA ?? – *Please note we're not making any specific medical claims that the Hygiene Hand will completely protect anyone from coronavirus or other pathogens, but are stating the fact from a lot of published research that copper and its alloys such as brass are inherently antimicrobial where viruses will naturally be unable to thrive. – Please visit our campaign to learn more! The tool was created by emergency prep company StatGear Tools, and is made to be carried every day in your pocket or purse in order to protect your hand from surface germs.

From the website:

Meet the Hygiene Hand, an EDC tool which fits on your keychain and is used to help decrease the spreading of germs while performing some of your everyday tasks.

When thinking about the everyday tasks we encounter, we wanted to help “flatten the curve” by making a tool which allowed you to touch buttons, sign digital screens, and even open doors WITHOUT the use of your finger/hand touching the same surfaces as 100’s of other people!

The Hygiene Hand is made from solid brass which is inherently anti-microbial, meaning viruses are unable to naturally thrive.

The company is raising funds through a Kickstarter project to help ease public anxiety about how to really stay clean in public, and avoid bringing home germs to the people we love.

You can use the tool to literally do anything your hands or fingers can do – open doors, use an ATM, enter door codes, pick up your grocery bags – which means only needing to disinfect your brass tool when you get home and not your entire body.

Personally, I think this is a great idea, though whether people will use it enough to make it become second nature is a whole other question.

I love how people are thinking outside the box to make our world safer, though! Cheers to that!
