Wedding Photographer Had the Perfect Response to Bride Wanting to Cancel After Seeing Her Black Lives Matter Post

Twitter heaped support on a photographer who clapped back at a bride demanding a refund of her deposit when she saw the photographer’s Black Lives Matter social media post.

The bride had sent a message to Shakira Rochelle, the photographer she’d contracted for her upcoming wedding. In it, she claimed Rochelle must be “unstable” if she felt like lending her support to the movement and that it would be too “embarrassing” for her to have Rochelle at the wedding. After insisting “all lives matter,” she demanded the return of her deposit.

Here is her Instagram post on her take on Black Lives Matter.

“Shakira Rochelle Photography stands in solidarity with the black community. The black lives matter movement has my endless support,” she wrote.

Twitter user Q first posted Rochelle’s DMs with the bride on Twitter where it went viral.

The first DM is from the bride expressing her disappointment that her wedding photographer decided to stand up for the Black community.

The bride and her fiance simply “can’t bring themselves” to work with a photographer who would do such a thing and questions Rochelle’s mental health.

Rochelle responds with her standard operating procedure which says no refunds for cancellations.

She also thanks the bride for the lovely donation of her deposit to Black Lives Matter.

The bride wrote back, “You will be hearing from our attorney.” For what that’s worth.

Q captioned the viral tweet with, “I love it here.” The tweet so far has been retweeted nearly 200,000 times and has more than one million likes. Q even tweeted Rochelle’s contact information in case anyone would like to book her for their events.

As for the attorney threat…

And as this guy pointed out, so what if the bride is one of those “all lives matter” people and her photographer is choosing to support a hugely marginalized community? Rochelle is a professional service-provider with a human brain that allows her all the free will to think whatever she wants. It has nothing to do with this bridezilla’s wedding.

But the icing on the wedding cake is the gratitude for the donation!

Another excellent point about deposits.

But the outpouring of support for this small-business owner was incredible.

Shekira Rochelle’s Photography can be found here. If you’re needing photography services in Cincinnati, OH, check her availability.

Don’t wait. Everyone wants this talented lady now!

10 of the Internet’s Most Epic Burns

Y’all ready for this?

The internet will always have an abundance of at least three things:

Check out This Facebook Group Where Millennials Pretend to Be Boomers

A lot of hay has been made about the “war” between Millennials and Boomers. But in the end, it’s really all about the memes. At least that seems to be the philosophy of a private group on Facebook called a group where we all pretend to be boomers.

It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like, and it’s rapidly gaining popularity, with nearly 15k members at the time of writing and likely far more by the time you see this. The bit is simple: a bunch of people young to youngish people do an impression of the online habits and styles of their older counterparts. That’s it. That’s all. And it’s kind of hilarious.

A thread on this latest lob in the generational war picked up a lot of attention when Twitter user @manhattanna posted a series of screenshots from within the group alongside commentary explaining that she might actually die from laughter.

Here are some examples of the kinds of things she unearthed. (All screenshots are from @manhattanna’s thread here and were presumably taken within the Facebook group. Names and faces have been removed to protect the innocent.)

10. Dinner With Tom

The vicious face at the end of the comment thread is what kills me here.

9. A Trip to the Mall

I know it’s a joke but I genuinely feel sorry for the pretend person that posted this.

8. Off Color

WHY oh WHY do Boomers love minions so damn much?

7. Twinkie Time

The classic “Boomer shares a dirty meme without realizing it” bit.

6. Red Lobster Dates

So many of these are about death and loss and I shouldn’t be laughing but dammit I kinda am.

5. Engojis

LOL

4. Ant Man Returns

The way this person never uses a period correctly is just masterful.

3. Custody Battle

This was one of a series of “really tragic post on inappropriately lighthearted background.”

2. Ghost Phone

I have seen legitimate listings like this I swear to God.

1. My Dinner with Bob

Just type that text into whatever box, I’m sure it’ll get where it’s going.

If I’m being honest this sort of stuff fills me with a mix of unbridled joy and deep guilt. I know full well that, if I’m lucky to live long enough, I will eventually be totally baffled by whatever new thing society throws at me. And when that day comes, a group of kids will get together and make memes about it which I will also not understand. And then I’ll just get in my rocket powered recliner and go to my moon retirement estate, I don’t need this mess.

Which of the posts is your favorite?

Tweets That Might Prove Ladies Are the Funniest

We do a lot of Twitter articles in these parts, but this one is by ladies and for ladies. I mean, I’m not a lady. But I didn’t write any of these tweets. So think of me more as a tour guide to point out the works of art that are these posts, and let’s appreciate them together. Feel free to touch, though, since you’ll probably need to in order to scroll through.

Here are 10 quite good very great tweets especially for women.

10. Seize the moment

(OK real talk from a guy, this is the quickest possible way to start some trust issues.)

9. Coco nuts

Why the hell would he ask that? What’s wrong with him?

8. A matter of perspective

Hey, this is all of us. And if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that nobody looks good in the video chat.

7. Higher ground

See, if I did this, the whole thing would come crashing down and I’d get banned from the grocery store. Again.

6. Stretch and flex

So it’s basically like an involuntary yoga thing.

5. Color commentary

The real question is: do they all still fit?

4. How low can you go

Looking like you don’t care takes a lot of effort.

3. Pocket monsters

When will the fashion revolution finally be at hand?

2. Dry wit

OK, this phenomenon I genuinely don’t understand. Who the hell DOESN’T like showers?

1. 50 shades

Fun fact: generally speaking, women tend to actually, physically be able to perceive more colors than men.

This concludes our tour of the gallery. Please feel free to take any of the artwork with you if you’d like. We’re a very chill museum.

A Person Mashed Up ‘Lord of the Rings’ Scenes With Headlines from ‘The Onion’

The movies that make up The Lord of the Rings franchise have kept millions of people entertained as we were shut inside for most of the past few months. Re-watching the movies and re-reading the books have helped us pass the time. By now, many of us could recap plots and quote lines without blinking an eye. Another source of immense entertainment joy are the satirical articles published by The Onion. The headlines alone can start the most bored of us laughing.

Twitter user Lauren used her downtime wisely and came up with a series that combined our passions for epic fantasy movies and satire by matching film scenes with headlines. The results are hilarious.

She told Bored Panda that after making the first one she kept seeing perfect headlines for LotR scenes.

So, she kept creating memes.

She thought maybe a few people would see and like them.

She was pleasantly surprised to see her thread retweeted more than 27,000 times and liked by 105,000.

Obviously, she’s a big fan of the movies and know all the characters.

Samwise Gamgee is her favorite one because he’s such a good friend to everyone, especially Frodo.

Like the rest of us, she’s looking forward to The Silmarillion movies. Hopefully, she’ll get another thread going with more scenes and headlines.

Will some think these headline/scene combo are real? There are people who don’t get The Onion’s satire.

Lauren’s happy she could bring a smile to so many people. It’s amazing what a person can do with Photoshop and some imagination!

And she even inspired others to post their creations. She kept a lot of people occupied for a few hours.

Isn’t it nice when we can play nicely together?

The combinations are endless. It’s like LotR and The Onion were made for each other.

What else can we put with Onion headlines? Harry Potter? John Wick? I’m a little excited about this.

What do you think of these matches? Have you made any of your own? Post them in the comments!

How Are We Coping with 2020? With Food, Obviously.

Oh, boy…

So, 2020 has been completely insane and none of us have known what to do with ourselves. That’s a well-established fact. That will be the subheading to the chapter about this year in history books, or history…holograms, or whatever the hell we have in the future. One of my all-time favorite expressions of what this has been like came from @KevinFarzard on Twitter who said:

Kevin’s theory was bolstered by a whole lot of replies to a thread started later by Franklin Leonard, in which he asked what purchases had been making a difference in people’s lives recently.

There were lots of answers; home improvement stuff, comforts, entertainment, pet adoption, and, oh yeah, food. What do you do when you’re stuck at home bored and anxious? You eat. And you find new, interesting methods of eating that maybe you haven’t tried before. That’s just the American way.

10. Fry me to the moon

Two words so beautiful have rarely been paired.

9. Let’s get this bread

Unsliced bread is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

8. Mixin’ it up

Weird hill to die on, but OK.

7. We all scream

Anything can be alcohol if you try hard enough.

6. Stock up

“Rice is great if you’re really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.” – Mitch Hedberg

5. Eggcellent idea

Live that farm to table life.

4. Good old fashioned booze

I’m deservin’ a bourbon.

3. Lettuce feast

I’m a little disappointed to learn that an “AeroGarden” isn’t like, flowers in the sky.

2. Sugar and spice and everything nice

I’ll put this on my list of things to try to salvage my mental health.

1. Grill baby grill

OK but the real question is, which one of those stove burners is your favorite?

Personally I’ve been trying out a lot of this great culinary tradition called “ordering delivery.” What it lacks in nutritional value, it makes up for in being overpriced.
I…may need to rethink this strategy.

Have you been trying out any new cooking adventures?

10 Things People Bought to Make Their Time at Home Way Better

Home is where the heart is. But for the most of 2020 so far, home is also where the…us…is. We’ve all been inside an awful lot, and when you get trapped in a living space, you start giving a lot of thought to what you might want to do to make that space just a little bit better.

Enter Franklin Leonard who launched an absolutely enormous Twitter thread with a simple question:

There were several thousand answers on a whole range of subjects, but some of the most day-brightening and “I should do that!” inspiring were the ones about how people just made their home a *little* bit better with something nice. Check out these 10 simple ways folks have pepped up while hunkering down.

10. Good bois need luxury too

Good call, I don’t think an actual dog hammock would go over well, though it would likely be hilarious.

9. The bliss of organization

I’ve been home enough at this point that I actually know where things are.

8. Blast that noise

Bring the concerts to you.

7. Hooked on cleaning

6. Chair and chair alike

5. Let the sunshine in

4. Furball

You fool; you purchased mortal enemies simultaneously.

3. Garden of hope

Plant the seeds, be patient and caring.

2. “Outdoor office”

Let’s be real dude, that’s nap central. But I’m not judging.

1. Super cool

*slaps fridge* This bad boy can fit so much La Croix in it.

Of course, not everybody’s in the financial position to buy/order big stuff, but if you haven’t done so in a while, maybe grab yourself a little something to make life at home better. It’ll brighten your day for sure.

What have you done around the house this year?
