Fans of ‘the Bachelor’ Can Now Get Chris Harrison to Officiate Their Wedding

Isn’t this interesting…?

Some people like to do something big and memorable for when they pop the big question, others would like to have a celebrity preside over the nuptials. Well, if you’re a mega-fan of all things related to The Bachelor, you might want to jump on this opportunity.

Chris Harrison, the host of the massively popular ABC show, has been an ordained minister since 2012 with Universal Life Church and he is available to officiate your wedding…for a fee.

In order for Harrison to consider being at your big day, you have to fill out an online form and give all the details about your big day including location, budget, etc. Harrison doesn’t list a price for his services, but he says he will travel anywhere, including internationally. On his Instagram page, the TV host said, “I’ll even come officiate your wedding – as long as there’s rose or two there..oh and good wine!”

And if you really want to get crazy, you can even book Villa de la Vina, the mansion that’s used in The Bachelor. The sprawling mansion is located in Malibu, California.

If for some reason you can’t afford to dish out the big bucks for Harrison to actually be at your wedding, you can always have him give you a video shout-out, if you are so inclined.

If you could pick a celebrity to officiate your wedding, who would it be?

Oh, and…will you accept this rose…?

Hallmark Christmas Movies Are so Popular Because People Want an Escape from Everyday Life

The older I get, the more mindless entertainment I tend to watch to relax at the end of a long day (or a long week). I definitely don’t always need to watch something dark and thought-provoking anymore to give my brain a workout.

That’s why I’ve watched Air Bud: Golden Receiver 75 times this year…is that weird?

But back to the point…

Part of the reason why Hallmark Christmas movies are insanely popular is that people want to escape the everyday stresses of life and our current news cycle, which, let’s be honest, isn’t very positive or uplifting. Tens of millions of viewers watch Hallmark Christmas movies, and the Hallmark Channel has already hit record-breaking numbers in 2019 since their “Countdown to Christmas” programming kicked off on October 25.

Hallmark Hall of Fame's special presentation of “A Christmas Love Story” starts now!

Posted by Hallmark Channel USA on Saturday, December 7, 2019

One woman who is a huge fan of the Hallmark Christmas movies said, “It’s just something to watch that’s mindless and doesn’t stress you out. It’s not political. It’s something somebody can watch and just be happy about, something that can take your mind off the world for a little bit.”

According to Michelle Vicary, the executive vice president of programming and network publicity for Crown Media Family Networks, which owns the Hallmark Channel,

“People need to feel good. They need to feel positive. There’s so much good television that is dark, edgy, and fantastic. But in the huge spectrum of the human experience, things can also turn out okay. Life can be good and life can be positive, and people need that too. That’s where we come in and that’s where our brand comes in and delivers on an emotional experience that says, ‘You know what, things are going to turn out okay, and you’re good and life is good.’”

Re-discover the magic of "Christmas Town" with Candace Cameron Bure and Tim Rozon with an encore presentation on December 5 at 8pm/7c!

Posted by Hallmark Channel USA on Monday, December 2, 2019

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to see how this big-city lawyer guy is going to fare in the small, rural town where he got isolated for Christmas because he got a flat tire. Will he find love and learn to appreciate the peoples’ small-town charm?

We’ll see!

Tom Hanks Discovered That Mister Rogers Is His Cousin

Call it a twist of fate or destiny, but actor Tom Hanks recently found out that and Fred Rogers (aka the beloved Mister Rogers who spent decades entertaining children on public television) are sixth cousins.

Ancestry.com revealed the information, to which Hanks said, “It all just comes together, you see.”

The news is particularly interesting because Hanks plays Fred Rogers in the recently-released film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which details the friendship that developed between Rogers and a journalist named Tom Junod who wrote an article about the television host for Esquire magazine in 1998.

An Ancestry.com spokesperson said, “Fred Rogers and Tom Hanks are sixth cousins sharing the same 5x great-grandfather … who immigrated from Germany to America in the 18th century.”

Hanks’ wife, Rita Wilson, said, “No, impossible! You’re pulling our leg.”

Posted by Mister Rogers' Neighborhood on Sunday, May 1, 2016

It only makes sense that one of America’s favorite actors would play one of the country’s most-beloved public figures…and be related to him. What are the chances?

Fred Rogers hosted Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood from 1968 until 2001, focusing on themes of kindness, charity, and being a good friend and neighbor to everyone. Rogers died in 2003 at the age of 74, but his legacy and continues to inspire people all over the world.

Rogers is so well-regarded that there is now a holiday honoring him in his native Pennsylvania every May 23.

Watch the trailer for the new film below.

Disney+ Has Content Warnings About ‘Outdated Cultural Depictions,’ but Is It Enough?

Disney+ is all the rage at the moment, as the iconic entertainment company is now in the streaming game in a major way, releasing their archived films, old and new, for all to enjoy.

With the release of many of these older films comes a problem, though. Included in the description of some Disney+ films come warnings about possible “outdated cultural depictions” that some people may find offensive.

“Outdated cultural depictions” is kind of code for offensive, racist, misogynistic portrayals of minorities, women, etc.

Warner Bros. has done similar warnings before some of their cartoons. And if you’ve ever watched any of these old cartoons (or you grew up on them), you know that a lot of them contain imagery, themes, and scenes that definitely wouldn’t be acceptable in today’s environment.

And, as you can see, the warning on some Warner Bros. content is a little more forthcoming and honest as compared to just saying there might be some “outdated cultural depictions” in Disney classics such as Peter PanPocahontasThe Jungle Book, and Lady and the Tramp.

Some minority advocacy groups have spoken out about the Disney+ disclaimer. Azita Ghanizada, founder of MENA (Middle Eastern North African) Arts Advocacy Coalition, said, “I would hope that Disney would do it for all the films that might include some things that are a little outdated. Especially with Aladdin, with those orientalized tropes that we’re kind of pushing back against.”

But there are more recent concerns as well.

What about the depictions of Native Americans? And specifically, the decision to cast Johnny Depp as Tonto in The Lone Ranger?

Sonny Skyhawk, founder of American Indians in Film and Television, said, “We talked to people at Disney about that depiction … I said there are probably a hundred [Native] people of that caliber that can do that and yet you’re going to try and force Johnny Depp down our throat. That’s basically what they did and it’s the arrogance of Hollywood and the arrogance of Disney to say it’s our idea, it’s our money and we’re going to do it, whether you like it or not.”

What do you think about this? Is Disney going far enough with their warnings? Should these movies even be streaming for people to see?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

10 Facts About Game Show Legend Bob Barker

Bob Barker is 95 years old, and he is still every bit the TV legend he was when he first hosted The Price is Right in 1972.

He actually started hosting his first game show all the way back in 1956, and he only retired from hosting The Price is Right in 2007. That’s 50 years!

And who could forget this classic clip featuring Barker from Happy Gilmore?

Let’s get to know the man behind the legend a little bit better with these 10 facts.

1. Early years.

8. Big break.

Barker considers the show Truth or Consequences his big break. He hosted the show from 1956 until 1974.

9. Animal lover.

Barker purchased 460 acres of land in California that will be used as a sanctuary for donkeys.

Bob Barker gave this incredible speech when ADI first introduced the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act to Congress in 2011. Nothing has changed in how Bob Barker describes the suffering of circus animals, but a lot has changed in the world. HERE ARE SIX REASONS WHY THE TIME IS RIGHT FOR THE TRAVELING EXOTIC ANIMAL AND PUBLIC SAFETY PROTECTION ACT (TEAPSPA; HR2863) NOW. Since 2011: 1. The number of national animal circus bans has more than doubled to 45 – including US neighbor Mexico. 2. Two states, New Jersey and Hawaii, have passed wild animal bans, and other states are considering bans. There are now 92 local circus prohibitions in 32 states including cities such as New York and San Francisco. 3. The number of animal circuses has fallen and the largest, Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus – which invested heavily to lobby against bans – closed due to declining audiences, as people have turned away from animal acts. 4. 20 animal protection groups are backing TEAPSPA. 5. There is more evidence of circus suffering and more public awareness than ever before. 6. TEAPA has been refined after discussions with legislators to strengthen the public safety aspects – hence it is now TEAPSPA. So now it’s up to YOU. Make that call, send that email, set up the meeting with your representative – get them to sponsor the bill. Then do it again. Don’t stop until this bill is passed. Start here – find your representatives and send an email NOW. TEAPSPA IS COMING. BE PART OF THE CHANGE. BE PART OF THE CAMPAIGN. 10. Love story.

Barker first went on a date with his wife Dorothy Jo when he was 15 years old. The two attended an Ella Fitzgerald concert (which is awesome). They were married from 1945 until her death in 1981, when she was 57. Bob Barker said he “never had any inclination to remarry.”

What a guy!

The six stars of the show, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, and the creators of Friends are all reportedly in talks to reunite on the HBO Max network, which launches in 2020.

One thing to keep in mind: according to reports, the new Friends special would be “unscripted.” So maybe it could be some kind of panel where the stars and the creators talk about the legacy and history of the show?

Time will tell…

But we’re excited to see if the gang gets back together again!

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this comes to fruition and no one backs out or the idea just fizzles out. I’m down for this reunion. Are you?

‘The Office’ Version of ‘Clue’ Lets Players Figure out Who Killed Toby

If you’ve spent time watching the American version of The Office, you know that Toby Flenderson is always the whipping boy. Michael Scott, the mediocre bossman, can’t stand the sight of Toby and lets him know every chance he gets that he’d prefer Toby quit his job and not show his face around the office any longer.

So it makes perfect sense that in the Clue The Office board game, players are tasked with finding out who killed poor Toby, where the murder took place, and what weapon was used.

In the game, you can play as one of six characters: Jim Halpert, Pam Beesly, Dwight Schrute, Angela Martin, Stanley Hudson, or Andy Bernard. You can’t play as Michael Scott because, as you might have guessed, he will be doing everything he can to get in the way of your investigation. The mystery will take you throughout the Dundler-Mifflin universe, including such spots as the warehouse, the kitchen, Michael’s office, and the employee parking lot.

It looks like the board game is currently out of stock on the Hot Topic website, but keep an eye on that link if you want a chance at scoring one. It may even be worth it to venture to *GASP* your local shopping mall to see if they have one of these babies in stock because they’re going for $200 on Amazon.

This would make a great gift for the holidays though, wouldn’t it? We all know how many people out there are obsessed with The Office, so get busy hunting for one of these ASAP. Got it? Good!
