Do You Remember Chuck E. Cheese? These Tweets Bring Back ALL the Nostalgia!

It might seem like Chuck E. Cheese is a relic of the past. If you don’t have kids, you probably haven’t been inside one in years, and if you do have kids, you’ve probably also not been inside one – or anywhere else – for many moons, either.

Also, now that you’re an adult, the shine has definitely worn off, right? The place is dirty, there are definitely germs everywhere, and just thinking about the ball pit makes me want to gag.

That said, these 15 tweets might just take you back to the good ol’ days when it was the place to be – the stuff birthday party dreams were made of – and if you ask me, a little nostalgia is never a bad thing.

15. Huh. I never really thought about it that way.

Where can a kid not be a kid?

14. Of course it is.

You don’t need to know this to like, know this. Like, in your bones.

13. No one was going near that stage.

They might be alive. You never know for sure.

12. Through the eyes of a parent.

But honestly…it doesn’t sound like a bad way to pass a Saturday afternoon.

11. I literally just shuddered.

Anyone who was weaned on the original Chuck E. Cheese is stone cold.

10. Only the 80s could produce this mascot.

Our parents were like, “eh, sure. Why the hell not?”

9. I’m sure there was a subconscious reason.

Like he’s scary as sh%t.

8. Did someone just…make all of this up?

Because I have some followup questions.

7. Which is really a shame.

For everyone involved.

6. The face I just made.

Do not, under any circumstances, eat off the floor of a Chuck E. Cheese unless you’re trying to get superpowers. Or kill yourself.

5. It’s all in how you look at it, love.

Live a little! Dance with meningitis!

4. Is the pizza…good?

I honestly have no recollection.

3. How many stars?

At least the skeeball wasn’t broken. That would have been the real day the music died.

2. Me yelling at every band, to be honest.

Why do they think we’re still buying their records?

1. I have no idea what I just watched.

But I am in no way mad about it.

Ahhhh I can almost smell the pizza and see the creepy animatronics now.

Did you have a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese? Was it the best? Tell us about it in the comments!

Nostalgic Posts That Reveal a Person’s Age Without Saying a Number

The Internet sure loves its trends, and one of the more fun ones recently is people describing how old they are with a picture or a written statement about their life that just totally gives it away.

These 10 posts definitely get the job done, as I could definitely pinpoint a person’s age to within the decade, if not a bit more specifically.

10. Otherwise, you’d better not come back unless you were bleeding.

It was a simpler time.

9. Otherwise there would be trouble.

Your parents wouldn’t let you use their phone anymore, probably.

8. That sound just triggered my PTSD.

So much time wasted.

7. We spent so much of our parents’s money!

But they couldn’t say no because it was on books.

6. These WERE cool when they first came out.

Compared to what came before – just ask Zack Morris.

5. Teachers still use these.

Bless their hearts.

4. It really brought the family together.

The family without privacy can always blackmail each other.

3. Our first Apple IIE was something to behold.

Man, I loved that thing.

2. So much adrenaline.

Kids today will never know the courage it took.

1. Lisa Frank on a Trapper Keeper.

It didn’t get any better than that.

There are a lot of fellow Gen X/Xennial people on Twitter, I think! Well, of course there are. Everybody’s on Twitter. All ages, all intellectual levels. Some higher than others.

I digress…

If you were going to describe your age without using a number, what would you say/post? Tell us in the comments, fam!

Thanks!

People Discuss Their Favorite Memories From Going to School

We all tend to look at the past through rose-colored glasses…at least a little bit.

When I look back on my school days, especially high school, it seems like it was all fun and games and having a blast with my friends.

But I know that, in reality, certain days were really difficult and I was pretty unhappy for stretches of time.

But I have a lot of wonderful memories from those years, too.

Here’s what AskReddit users had to say about their favorite memorial from when they went to school.

1. Sounds fun!

“My 3rd grade class had a “reading loft”.

It was a pretty good sized “fort” (probably taking up 1/3 of the classroom) covered in carpet and had lots of cool places to hang out if you wanted to read.

The teacher incentivized us to finish work early so we could grab a book and head to the “reading loft” so we didn’t have to hang out at our desks being bored.”

2. A nice gesture from Dad.

“I got bullied a lot in middle school.

One day in math I’d just been overwhelmed and couldn’t take anymore so I called my dad and begged him to pick me up. He told me I’d be alright and just ignore it.

20 minutes later I got called to the office for check out and he took me to get my favorite food and spent the afternoon in the park with me. RIP old man, that was one of the best days of my entire life.”

3. Field trip.

“In third grade, it was some reading appreciation week, and we decided as a class to visit a cemetery.

Granted it’s a pretty famous cemetery with a couple of really important people buried there, and we had a scavenger hunt to find them. Along with like the oldest grave we could find, the biggest, and we had to make a rubbing of one of our choosing.

As a strange child, it was the best field trip I had ever been on.”

4. New BFF.

“When I was in second grade, I got bullied because my whole family was deaf.

One kid kept picking on me everyday. Well one day he came up to me and started screaming, saying can your mom hear me, and this tall girl stepped in and punched him in the face.

She got suspended, but no one ever made fun of me again. We became best friends after that.”

5. Look out!

“Every morning my teacher will ask us questions about history if we get it right he would give us a snicker bar.

But this the funny part, he would throw the snickers bar at us real hard. So if get the question right you would had to dodge the fast moving snickers.”

6. Who’s the biggest fan?

“I was a terrible student and a huge baseball fan growing up. In 6th grade I had an English teacher who knew I wasn’t dumb, just hard to motivate.

She privately offered me an extra credit assignment, all I had to do was write a 2 page essay on any topic I liked at all explaining why I liked it so much. I straight up turned down her offer, being content with my C- grade.

So she flipped it around on me and publicly told another guy in my class that since HE was the biggest Red Sox fan in the class, he should write a 2 page essay about the Red Sox and present it to the class.

I practically jumped out of my seat and said I was a way bigger Red Sox fan than Mike and I should be the one writing that essay. She let us both write one. She was a really good teacher”

7. Now THAT’S a good memory.

“Skipping out on a Monday to drive to the city 5 hours away to see Iron Maiden in concert in December 1984!”

8. The good old days.

“The record for most milk cartons drank before throwing up was 26 by the time I graduated.

They started suspending anyone who tried to break the record because they were cleaning up milk puke so often.”

9. Epic!

“Nickelodeon took over my school when I was in the 2nd grade. All the Nickelodeon celebrities were there.

Mr. Wizard did cool science experiments, Barth did gross stuff with food, Marc Summers had the Super Sloppy Double Dare obstacle course we could go through and teachers got slimed and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles put on a concert.

It was literally a dream come true. And then at the end we all got free backpacks filled with Nickelodeon swag. I still think about that day.”

10. Keeping the kids interested.

“Listening to my middle school history teacher give her lectures.

In her heart of hearts she was a storyteller and always knew how to keep me captivated.”

11. A nice reminder.

“On my first day of school, my mom sent little Debbie pumpkin smiley faces in my lunch.

Fast forward a couple of years, and due to my dads dangerous mental state, I had been in long term physical rehab, recovering from a gunshot, and living in a group home for about 6 months before my uncle got custody of me, halfway across the country.

There I was, in a different state, with different weather, at a new school where I didn’t know anybody, and I open my lunchbox, and there’s my pumpkin snack cakes.”

12. Going back in time.

“My 5th grade teacher brought in an actual 1700s musket to show us during the Revolutionary War unit.

I’ll never forget that honestly. Especially considering that would NEVER fly in schools today.”

13. Congrats!

“My last day of high school, actually. It was our graduation ceremony. The school made me sit with a bunch of kids I don’t know. Others were allowed to sit with whoever they want. The school didn’t tell us anything, just made us sit there.

Apparently my stupid *ss got the highest standardized exam grade in a subject and I was sat there because those kids got the highest grades too, in other subjects. I honestly did not see that coming at all, but I was so happy and proud of myself.”

14. Nap time!

“When I was on 8th grade a Friday at 6:40am we were at Biology class, all of us including the teacher were still sleepy, one of my classmates fell asleep and the teacher said: “I know all of you still sleepy, like yesterday everyone of you did a good work I will let you sleep half of the class”.

He also fell asleep, but he forgot to wake us up until the bell rang. Biology class lasts two hours.”

In the comments, tell us about some of your favorite memories from school.

We’d love to hear from you.

Please and thank you!

People Discuss What They Think Folks Will Be Nostalgic for in the Year 2060

It’s hard to believe that people will be nostalgic for ANYTHING that’s going on in the world right now, but you never know…

I’m sure people in 1980 thought the world was going to Hell in a handbasket, but 40 years later, 1980 probably looks pretty decent to some people…

But what will people be nostalgic for in the year 2060?

Here’s what people had to say on AskReddit.

1. Privacy.

“Privacy and the ability to go somewhere without seeing 75 cameras all the time.

Went to the beach today and no one was in the water except for me and my friend. Everyone else was waiting for “golden hour” in their dry beachwear.”

2. In-person.

“Playing physical games with friends.

Going to friends’ houses to play basketball/soccer and a few video games, and then have a sleep over.

Socializing to the extent even the youngest here have experienced.”

3. Remember when…

“The short period of time in 2020 when most of us got to spend some time at home with our families, traffic was bearable, people in the supermarkets were asked to keep distance.

As an introvert, I’m gonna miss it for sure.

As a doctor, not so much.”

4. Hang on to it!

“Physical media so you don’t have to micropay for every movie you feel like watching.

When the DVDs and Blu-Rays are no longer in the stores, there will be no reason for streaming services to charge a flat rate.”

5. That’s depressing.

“Driving.

Cars will be 100% automated and it will be illegal to drive your own car on roadways unless you have a special license, because it’s so dangerous.

There will be amusement parks where you can drive a car all by yourself.”

6. Show me the money.

“Paper and metal currency.

Virtual money, wire transfers, alternative finance models, blockchain money will be a norm I anticipate.

It is coming faster than we think.”

7. I really hope not.

“The golden days before covid-25 when you just had to wear a mask instead of a full hazmat suit…”

8. Scary stuff ahead?

“Contemporary weather patterns and jet streams.

Lack of mass migration and climate change refugees.

Clean beaches. Peace in India.”

9. Off the grid no more.

“Being able to go “off the grid” for a weekend.

I may have been the only student my senior year of high school and first few weeks of college not to have a cell phone (Out 200+ person freshman engineering 101 intro class, 5 of us didn’t have a cell phone, and the other 4 were from mainland China.

I was the only one who had the access to phones that would work on American cell phone networks but simply didn’t own one) and then had a pay-as-you-go phone mostly for emergencies for the next two years.

It wasn’t until the summer between my sophomore and junior year that I got a phone on a plan, and that was bc I needed it for a job with “on-call” shifts. Even now, I’m on one of the smaller carriers, so when I go camping for a weekend, I’m frequently out of cell phone range when I’m not on the interstate.”

10. Scary to think about.

“Cashiers.

They were already slowly being replaced by self checkouts, and now covid has put a rush on it.”

11. Not much faith…

“Large animals.

Rhinos, elephants, orangutans, giraffes. I have little faith that we won’t destroy the world.

Looking at the old onesies from our kids pajamas that we packed in a box showing safari animals will become as extinct as dinosaurs, but more painful…”

12. Bleak.

“Jobs.

Most people fail to realize what is happening in industry. They are blaming other people and countries, but the truth is, along aside the technical revolution of phones has been the technical revolution of industry.

Industrial level stepper motors and servos have become so cheap, along side multi core 64 bit control boards, which are so cheap they are essentially disposable, that entire swaths of the labor pool have already been replaced by computers.

The issue here is these incredible control boards are continuing to get better and cheaper, and the software is getting better. Every day the march of technology continues, the closer it comes to replacing Jobs we traditionally think as irreplaceable.

Computers don’t need a break, they rarely make a mistake, and they are cheaper than your labor. We are <10yr from massive disruption in some of the largest employment vectors, like transportation, that is going to put a lot of people out of work.”

13. No!

“Barnes and Noble.

They’re the last major chain bookstore, and they’re not doing well. The one where I am is going out of business after 20 years.

There will not be a bookstore in my city. (I’m in a suburb to LA, so not the middle of nowhere.).”

14. You’re being watched…

“Someone already said privacy, so I’m gonna go for freedom, it’s basically the same but it’s the effect of the lack of privacy.

People change when they know they are being watched.

This is already happening and will only get worse with time and technological improvement.”

15. Look into the sky.

“The night sky.

By that time, Musk, Bezos, and god knows who else, will have hundreds of thousands of satellites in orbit.

Our cities will have doubled in size, and urban sprawl will cause further light pollution. Stargazing will be something future generations will only hear stories about…”

Now we want to hear from all the readers out there.

In the comments, tell us what you think people will be nostalgic for in 40 years.

Please and thank you!

People Share What They Miss About the 2000-2009 Internet

The Internet changes so often that things that were so cutting-edge and fresh even a few years ago now look dated and kind of stale.

So let’s go ALLLLLL the way back to the glorious years of 2000-2009 and take an awesome trip down memory lane, okay?!?!

People on AskReddit got all nostalgic about what they miss from the Internet days of 2000-2009.

I think some of these responses will bring back some good memories.

1. Send me a message.

“MSN Messenger.

Oh I miss MSN so much. The customization, the silliness, the lack of uniformity. I still have hours’ worth of RPing saved in text form from MSN. Modern messengers are awkward and clunky in comparison.

Plus I loved that you could save your own animated emotes – I raided the animated pixel art section of DeviantArt for good ones, and I still have them in a folder.

Better than emoji and having to wrangle with Unicode to make sure ‘glomp-squish-until-he-goes-grey’ is worth putting in…”

2. Looks cool now!

“The amateur looking websites with a million fonts and colours.

Blink tags!!!!

Web 1.0 is my favourite web design style.”

3. AIM.

“Just AIM in general.

Doing homework and chatting to friends.

Yeah you can text them but it’s easier to get work done and still be “talking” to multiple people.”

4. The old days.

“I miss old YouTube.

Before every channel was a brand, and every video had 10 ads in it. When you could just follow the wormhole of just random videos for hours and hours.

Now everything is so corporate, and kid friendly.”

5. I don’t get it.

“The lack of influencers.

I still cannot believe this is a full time, well paying job for so many people.”

6. It was a special treat.

“I miss that you weren’t expected to always be available to people.

You’d log on like once a week maybe twice and check your messages on Myspace or check your email or use AIM and then you’d get off and live your life and nobody seemed offended that you couldn’t get to their message right away.

Now, god forbid you don’t feel like conversing on messenger but you want to scroll on your phone or repost things. You also have to get back to people faster or they get offended.

You also should remove the option of your messages being shown as “read” or “seen” or else you are going to get more messages or offend someone.

I can’t even deactivate my facebook for my own mental health without people I don’t even talk to later asking me in person if I blocked them.

Um? I don’t even talk to you, what did you do that would make me block you??”

7. Too many ads.

“I didn’t have to see a pop up ad on every single video, webpage, forum, blog and webcomic.

People just did things to do things, not because you could become an influencer or whatever and make money off of it.

I am glad there is a place for those things and people who do them, but I miss the simplicity.”

8. It was wide open.

“That wild west feeling where everybody just seemed to have their own website.

YouTube was just another video hosting website and Facebook wasn’t full of people just sharing news stories. People made their own, sh*tty websites from scratch with God awful color schemes and GIFs everywhere.

And I loved it. None of this Wix template bullsh*t.”

9. NERDS.

“The overall lack of monetization.

People didn’t understand you could make money off of the internet yet, so it was essentially ran by nerds and not corporations.”

10. All of this.

“Almost no clickbait

Napster + WinAmp… It really whips the Llamas *ss

Memes had wit… And were profound and funny

Not having to consent to Cookies.”

11. Ha! So true.

“Facebook was a college thing instead of a platform for crazy racist aunts and uncles.”

12. A good way to find music.

“It was the golden age of the music blog.

Tons of good active ones, many of which catered to a specific niche, and they all competed to find the next big thing.

I discovered so many great artists and songs simply by hopping from blog to blog, and searching among them on Hype Machine.

Nowadays, a few big ones have essentially become the Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly of the internet and they’re afraid to go out on a limb and champion new artists, while subsequently propping up overrated stuff.”

13. It used to be different.

“I genuinely miss when things on the internet were not a reflection of themselves.

Everyone’s internet version of themselves was an obnoxious, eccentric, exaggerated version of themselves. You’d read things on line and genuinely just think “it’s the internet whatever.”

Then at some point, all of a sudden online behavior became a real reflection of who you are. I’m not talking about threatening people and other forms of violence. I more mean making a crude joke, or saying ridiculous things for the sake of being ridiculous.

Nowadays, your twitter or instagram is a pure reflection of who you are. It’s created this delusion for kids that celebs on instagram are always perfect and beautiful. And it’s also made individual tweets or interactions be entire descriptions of your character.

I understand wanting to hold people accountable, it was just a really strange transition. I genuinely remember registering for things online and using all false information, because “WHO WOULD POSSIBLY USE THEIR REAL NAME ON THE WEB?”

Now it’s the opposite. Online life is part of real life.”

Tweets That Wax Nostalgic for Old School Pizza Hut

2020 has unexpectedly given us time to look back at things we miss from childhood, and Pizza Hut as it used to be is one of them.

Yes, Pizza Hut is very much is still in existence. However, in decades past, it was a sit-down restaurant that was more slow service than fast food. Come with us to remember the sights, sounds, and smells of sizzling pizza in a cast iron pan, and ice-cold Pepsi, a yummy salad bar and hours of video game fun.

Let’s start with this delicious legend:

The restaurants looked a lot different.

We’d kill for one of these lamps!

They gave off that old school Italian restaurant vibe.

We can almost taste the macaroni salad side—yum!

These glasses kept your Pepsi extra cold too.

He’s right; it had a certain unforgettable taste to it.

Pizza Hut taught some of us how to read.

If you want to teach kids to read today, this is the way to do it!

You got a serious bang for your buck.

And all the video games you could possibly stand.

People that haven’t experienced old school Pizza Hut don’t know what they’re missing.

Even today’s Pizza Hut agrees. You know what you have to do guys!

There are so many things like this that we miss, we don’t even know where to begin. Wouldn’t it be great to revisit Pizza Hut as it was just one more time?

What are some places you’re nostalgic for? Let us know in the comments below!

‘Supermarket Sweep’ Is Back on Netflix and Viewers Are Feeling It!

2020 hasn’t been the best year, and we’re all craving some nostalgia.

Even a simple trip to the supermarket as it used to be would be something to look forward to, so it’s no wonder that Supermarket Sweep is back!

That’s right kids! Your favorite game show where you guess how much groceries cost… it’s back in all of it’s nostalgic glory!

And mo, it’s not a reboot—the show from the early 1990s that you remember is airing once again on Netflix. Maybe it’s the big hair or the cheap groceries, but whatever it is, viewers can’t get enough and are talking about it non-stop on social media.

The idea for the game goes back to the 1960s.

Supermarket Sweep has teams of contestants answer trivia questions and run around a grocery store, collecting as many high-priced items as possible. Netflix has so far offered up one season of the show from 1993, which is easy to binge-watch in an afternoon, as the episodes are only about 20 minutes long.

The very first run of the show aired in 1965 before popping up again in its early ’90s incarnation. It was revived yet again in the early 2000s, and a new version of the show hosted by SNL’s Leslie Jones was about to film in 2020 when everything was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for that, so the run from 1993 will have to suffice. To be honest, if Netflix were to air the other seasons, including those from the 1960s, we wouldn’t mind that at all. (Hint, hint.)

Which game shows would you like to see rebooted? Let us know in the comments below!

Memes About the 1990s That Should Make You Feel Very Nostalgic

When it was happening, I didn’t think the 1990s were a great time to grow up, but in hindsight, it was pretty awesome.

Good music, good movies, good TV shows, and the world wasn’t totally on fire yet. At least for the most part.

Looking back on it, that decade really does seem like a more innocent time and I, for one, miss those days.

If You Remember the 1990s, These Posts Are for You!

Growing up in the ’90s was the last real era where everyone wasn’t connected to the whole world every second of the day.

Things are so different now that it’s sometimes hard to fathom what it was like.

It really was a great time!

Are you ready for some major 1990s nostalgia?

This Video From 2009 Featuring Emo Kids and Their Mallrat Friends Is a Dose of Nostalgia

Are you ready for a little trip down memory lane?

Many of us remember our high school days fondly: hanging out at the mall, chilling in random parking lots waiting for something, ANYTHING, to happen.

And, of course, there was the fashion. No matter what era you grew up in, the clothing, the hairstyles, and the pop culture influenced you and your friends.

A woman uploaded a video to YouTube from 2009 of her and her friends doing what teenagers do: hanging out and doing a whole lot of nothing, but in a good way.

And it’s packed full of the era’s emo looks and attitudes, lip rings, dyed hair, etc.

Here is the full six-and-a-half minute video in all its glory. Enjoy!

A lot of people online LOVED the video because they were kids around that time, too.

Of course, the Warped Tour was talked about.
