You Can Make 3D Car and Truck Pancakes for Breakfast

Racing frantically through breakfast every morning will be easier now with the help of little cars and trucks made out of waffles.

CucinaPro has come out with a cool new way to fuel your day–a waffle maker that turns your favorite pancake batter into little Hot Wheels looking waffles.

It works just like a normal, boring old waffle maker. Pour the batter into the non-stick molds and, then, vrooom! A plateful of fun that will wake you out of your Ford siesta.

After you pop them out of the garage–er, waffle maker–you’ll see seven different makes and models to butter and syrup.

As you can imagine, the appliance speedily sold out on Amazon where the Cars & Trucks Waffle Maker was listed for $42.95.

But don’t let that drive you away. Get on the list so you’ll be able to enter the expressway to morning fun as soon as it becomes available again.

I mean… what kid wouldn’t love this? Wait… what PERSON wouldn’t love this? These are insanely cool!

If cars aren’t your thing, you can also get a dinosaur maker. Either way, the reviews of both makers are excellent with some users advising cooking spray to ensure all the little shapes emerge perfectly.

Rumor has it the company tried to make a motorcycle waffle maker but the pancakes wouldn’t stay right side up. They were…two tired.

This Is When You Should Replace Your Nasty Kitchen Sponge

You know that gray lump of a sponge you use with detergent to clean your dishes in your sink? It might be time to toss it and replace it with a new one.

Pulling out a brand spanking new sponge every week will keep you from spreading bacteria and viruses all over your kitchen, including illness-causing germs such as E. coli, Salmonella, and maybe even the coronavirus that causes Covid-19.

But how dirty is your sponge? A study published in the July 2017 issue of Scientific Reports suggests that kitchen sponges can get more germ-y than toilets.

Report author Markus Egert, PhD, professor for microbiology and hygiene at Furtwangen University in Schwenningen, Germany, and a team of researchers, noted there were 362 different kinds of bacteria living inside kitchen sponges. They found approximately 5.5 trillion microscopic bugs per sponge.

If you would rather try to clean your sponge instead of replacing it every week or two, Egert suggests using a washing machine at 60° C (140° F), and using a bleach-containing, heavy-duty detergent.

Another acceptable way to clean a kitchen sponge is to lather it up with soap and flush it with water. Then put it in the microwave oven for two minutes. You’ll want it be wet so that it doesn’t start a fire in the microwave.

Store your sponge in a holder to dry out between uses and don’t use the same sponge for cleaning dishes and surfaces, especially outside of the kitchen, like in your bathroom.

Finally, if you really don’t like the idea of bacteria growing in your kitchen, use silicone brushes and scrubbers. Those don’t have the same kinds of germ friendly surfaces of your sponge. Or use microfiber washcloths and wash them in your washing machine on high heat after using.

Using a sponge around the kitchen can be convenient. But, for a safe and clean kitchen, be aware of how long you keep the same one by your sink. You may be spreading some pretty gross stuff around.

A Customer Accidentally Ghosted a Struggling Local Restaurant, Then Made Good

I grew up in a small town. There were a couple of local pizza joints and they were both delicious. I remember getting excited whenever a time would come when we could go pick up from there. Then, when I was about 13, a Pizza Hut came to town. We were a small enough place that this was an event. I met the manager, my older sister got her first job working there, there were parties and get-togethers, it was something special.

Unfortunately, it also meant the other places shut down. Pizza Hut, the gargantuan national chain, just swept in and took all the business. That was my first exposure to the concept of economic competition and how the big guys thrive while the little guys struggle, even when the little guys are just as good or better. I was also introduced to the idea that where we choose to spend our money makes a difference.

Local businesses and restaurants have a perilous enough time in general. When there’s economic downturn, every little order can matter. Which is why this story from Reddit user Wellworn5 on r/TIFU (Today I F*cked Up) makes for such a satisfying read. Check it out.
