This is going to be a bumpy ride!

A woman went on the record on Reddit’s “Am I the a**hole” forum and asked if she was wrong to crack the whip and un-invite her dad’s girlfriend because the GF…get this…wanted to wear beige to her wedding…

Like I said, a bumpy ride…

Here’s how the story started.

What seemed like a nice birthday celebration went downhill in a hurry, however, when the woman noticed something alarming in her Dad’s girlfriend’s Instagram feed.

And let’s just say it caught her off-guard.

And she was definitely NOT happy with the girlfriend’s choice of clothing.

And neither was her sister.

So it was now time to talk to her dad about just what the hell was exactly going on here…

But she couldn’t reach her dad because he was off the grid…

Later on, the dad’s girlfriend texted the woman a birthday message…and the woman told her how she felt about her picking a dress so similar to her’s…on her wedding day.

And she asked her not to wear it…but she hasn’t received a response.

And the girlfriend had already been warned about a similar situation so it’s not like this should have been a conversation in the first place.

She added that she doesn’t want to be a “Bridezilla”, but this was totally inappropriate.

A Mom Wants to Know if She’s Wrong to Change the Locks to Keep Her Kids’ Grandma Out of the House

This already sounds like a tricky situation.

Whenever there are grandparents and grandkids involved in any situation, there’s bound to be some drama and some hurt feelings some of the time.

But this woman has a unique situation: she wants to know if she was wrong for changing the locks on her house when her ex-husband gave his mom a key to the house…which sounds kind of weird to begin with…

Let’s take a look at how this whole thing unfolded.

Seems normal enough, the ex-husband would be allowed to have a key to her house for day-to-day stuff.

But then the situation went in a new direction and totally caught her by surprise.

But it seemed to be smoothed over after she had a talk with her unexpected guest.

But then Grandma struck again a month later.

So the woman decided to put her foot down. The grandma didn’t see eye to eye with the woman, so she decided to take some action.

That’s right, she changed the locks on her ex-husband the kids’ grandma.

The next time Granda came over to drop the boys off, she got a bit of a rude awakening.

Ouch. Well, she made a decision and decided to stand by it.

But the ex and Grandma clearly don’t seem to be getting the point.

And the woman clearly has some doubt about whether changing the locks on them was a good idea or not.

A Deployed Father Keeps Up With His Kids Via Their Ring Doorbell

More people are buying into the idea of smart homes. We have personal assistant-type devices like Alexa and Google Home, we employ security systems, smart televisions, and yes, Ring video doorbells.

The Ring lets us see who is at the door, it can help us keep track of our packages (and record potential thieves) – and, apparently, let us keep up with our kids when we’re too far away to do it in person.

Father Peter DeCrans bought his family a Ring doorbell before he was deployed with Minnesota’s National Guard’s 34th Infantry Division.

He’s stationed in the Middle East and loves having a camera that sends live feeds of his porch directly to his phone and other devices.

Now, every morning before school, DeCran’s children – 7-year-old Zerick and 5-year-old Petroula – record a video that he can bring up and watch whenever he wants.

He told Twin Cities Pioneer Press that it’s something he looked forward to every single day.

“It was one of the best things ever, a little slice of home.

When you’re gone that long, you miss your kids, you want to see them. It’s a way to feel connected to what’s going on.”

The kids prattled on in the videos, like kids do. They told their dad about their days, dances they’d learned, what they’d been taught in school – whatever.

“It was just part of the routine. They’d get dressed for school, and then they’d swing outside and leave a quick message telling me about their day.

One day Zerick had really long hair, and the next day he had a buzz cut because he had a wood tick in his hair, and he didn’t want long hair anymore.”

Hard to blame him, right?

DeCrans sends his own recorded videos in return, using an app to read the kids stories and do other things that makes it feel like he’s not quite so far away.

So, while most of us could probably use a bit less technology in our lives, families like the DeCrans are using it to make the hard things in life a little bit bearable.

And I think we all agree that’s not a bad thing.
