Woman Was Mocked for Her Dress on Tinder, So a Fashion Retailer Put Her Picture on Their Site

It’s upsetting how rude people are to strangers online these days. I guess it’s nothing new, but it’s still sad to see how people get cut down when they put themselves out there on social media.

But sometimes, there’s a happy ending to those bad interactions.

Take the case of a young woman named Thea Chippendale. She lives in the UK and, like millions of other people out there, she was on a dating app looking to find a love connection.

Posted by Thea Chippendale on Saturday, 8 December 2018

What she found instead was an incredibly rude insult from a man named George, who said she was “a bit of a joke” and that her dress in her photo on Tinder was “not doing any favours.”

Wow. What a dick.

Chippendale decided to tweet about her interaction with this man and her tweet went viral in a big way.

Well, things took a very interesting turn from there. A huge fashion company called ASOS caught wind of Chippendale’s tweet and they responded to her.

And then things went a step further. Chippendale said, “The CEO of ASOS, Nick Beighton, invited me down to their HQ where him and the amazing ASOS staff gave me a tour of how ASOS works and all the different departments they have. They also gave me a makeover and I got to have a little photoshoot with their photographers – it was an amazing experience.”

Take a look at this! Who do you think got the last laugh here?

We love this story!

Now we want to hear from the readers out there.

What do you think about this story?

Have you ever had someone really insult you or your looks on a dating app or a social media site?

Tell us all about it in the comments.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Tweets That Capture the Vibe of Our Wardrobe Choices Right Now

Even though the fashion industry is worth over a trillion dollars per year, if we all had our way, we’d probably just wear sweat pants and snuggies all the time. A lot of us have certainly learned that about ourselves, and many have taken to Twitter to express this inconvenient truth in hilarious ways.

Here are 13 examples of people who will never look at style choices the same way again.

13. All about me

Not caring what other people think is a lieeeeee.

12. Where to where?

Yanno maybe we never needed all those outfits.

11. Don’t be a scab

We’re all on strike from life, get in line.

10. Ready? FIGHT!

This is some subtle video game brilliance.

9. Lemons and lemonade

This joke has layers and it’s wonderful.

8. My big day

Why should you only get to wear it once, anyway?

7. Freedom

Burn that crap.

6. Denim deluxe

Well, look at Mr. Fancy Pants.

5. Keep it simple

And don’t even get me started on tying shoes.

4. My natural state

They mustn’t know this is the real me.

3. Changing standards

Look I don’t want to brag but I managed to clean an entire dish today.

2. Half asleep

The key to success is knowing you could totally go do stuff if you wanted to.

1. Don’t overpack

Again, the only conclusion I can come to here is that most of us just have way too many clothes.

If you happen to actually be wearing pants while reading this, I hope you enjoy your ivory towers, you elitist.

What’s your wardrobe been like lately?

Let us know in the comments.

Funny About Everybody’s 2020 Wardrobe

Here’s a movie pitch: it’s like Toy Story except with clothes. A plucky wardrobe full of colorful characters have to team up to solve a mystery when, suddenly, nearly all of them stop being worn. I’d imagine that’s what a lot of our closets feel like, based on what people are saying on Twitter right now.

But while I’m looking for a producer who will finance this masterpiece, enjoy some tweets about what high fashion is like in 2020.

14. Lace-less

See, this is the inciting incident of the movie I was pitching.

13. Upper-crust

Oh, well, aren’t you just a fancy pants?

12. I am enough

Get out of here with that garbage.

11. RIP

Back in my day we paid good money for jeans like that.

10. Swim-where?

Weird motivational flex but OK.

9. Bye bye bags

The revolution has begun.

8. Camera angles matter

Bae caught me slippin’.

7. Winning

Don’t fly too close to the sun.

6. Beautiful lies

Come on Victoria’s Secret, who are you kidding?

5. Hat-itude

Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ’till it’s gone…

4. Don’t sweat it

Oh, look at Mr. “I have multiple pairs of sweat pants” over here.

3. Choking hazard

Butt weight, there’s more!

2. Creatures of habit

It helps me pretend things are normal.

1. At least you tried

The important thing is that you stop doing that.

So we’re all a little sloppy. Big deal. There are far worse fates. We could go back to JNCO jeans.

We don’t mean this in a creepy way, but like, what are you wearing?

Share and compare in the comments.

Super Tacky ’70s Outfits That Need to Come Back Right Now

Do you remember the 1960s and ’70s? Sure you do! Even if you weren’t alive at the time, you know there was plenty of polyester, swagger and pant suits galore!

The really with-it couples didn’t just wear hip fashion. They teamed up their wardrobe to form matching power couple fashion statements that, upon reflection, are insane. Because there’s nothing that says, “I’m codependent and proud” then not being able to dress in something that doesn’t match your partner.

Still, I kind of wish that matching outfits would come back in a big way. I think it would actually be hilarious. Ironic, creepy, and did I already say hilarious? Let’s do this people!

But first, let’s see some fantastic examples of matching gone… right?

Woman Who Wore a “Hail Satan” T-Shirt Onto a Plane Was Forced to Change It or Get Thrown Off

I would probably never wear a shirt like this, but we live in a free society where people can wear whatever they want, wherever they want…actually, never mind, this shirt is pretty cool and I admit it that I would probably wear it in public.

A woman named Swati Runi Goyal was recently flying from Florida to Nevada, and, not thinking of potential consequences, she donned a t-shirt that said “Hail Satan. Est. 666” for the trip. The shirt also featured an upside-down cross (for good measure).

But when Goyal boarded her flight, she was told by an American Airlines crew member that she had to change her shirt or she would be removed from the plane.

Goyal is a member of The Satanic Temple, and she bought the shirt to support the organization. Despite the name, the Temple is known for activism on such issues as the separation of church and state, religious freedom, and free speech. Goyal said, “It’s an ironic shirt. People usually laugh at it, or they give me a thumbs-up because they understand the meaning behind it.”

Goyal said about the incident, a crew-member “said, ‘Our crew has found your shirt to be offensive.’ We initially just thought it was a joke. But he repeated the directive, and there was another female crew member who was behind him with her arms crossed looking very angry.”

Goyal and her husband refused to get off the plane. She continued, “The man said, ‘Your shirt is offensive. Do you know what that means?’” I said, ‘I’m a foreign-born minority woman, I understand ‘offensive,’ and this shirt is not offensive.’”

A standoff ensued and the flight crew brought on a customer service agent to tell Goyal she would not be able to fly while wearing the shirt. Eventually, Goyal’s husband gave her a layer of the clothing he was wearing, and she reluctantly agreed to cover up the language on her shirt so the flight could take off.

Goyal said she was humiliated over the incident. “I’m just an ordinary-looking person.I’m not goth. I don’t have piercings. I wasn’t wearing a shirt that had a goat being beheaded on it. [I was] wearing L.L.Bean hiking pants and vegan sneakers. I mean, I couldn’t look like more of a nerd.”

After the flight, Goyal complained to American Airlines. The airline initially refused to apologize and sent an email that read in part that they “have policies in place to ensure that no passengers are subjected to objectionable situations while on board. Our flight attendants have a responsibility to all passengers in our care, and we must sometimes make difficult decisions associated with the application of our policies.”

After Goyal tweeted about her experience and the story went viral, the company said “Discrimination has no place at American Airlines” on Twitter. A spokesperson for the airline said, “We apologize to Ms. Goyal for her experience, and we are reaching out to her to understand what occurred.”

This Woman Wore 5 Pounds of Clothes to Avoid Extra Luggage Fees at the Airport

Heroes don’t always have to wear capes…

In this case, it was just a whole lot of extra clothes in order to avoid extra baggage fees at the airport. I think we can all honestly say we’ve thought about trying this before, but we just didn’t have the guts to give it a shot – although I have actually seen my friend Dan throwing clothes and other items from his bag into the garbage to avoid those pricey extra charges, so you can always go that route, too.

But that’s not what Gel Rodriguez did. Nuh uh. She bucked the system, took things into her own hands, and became a legend in the process. Well, at least she’s a legend to me.

Posted by Gel Rodriguez on Tuesday, June 18, 2019

Rodriguez was taking a flight from the Philippines when she found out her carry-on luggage exceeded the maximum weight limit. And you know what that means: more money in the pockets of the airlines via extra baggage fees.

The limit was 15 pounds, and Rodriguez’s bag was nearly 20 pounds…so she did what she had to do. She packed on 5 pounds of clothing, layer after layer, to get her carry-on bag to the correct weight limit so she wouldn’t have to dish out that extra cash.

That’s called going above and beyond, people.

when the airline staff at the check in counter said: “EXCESS NA PO KAYO, 7kg lang po allowed na hand carry.”me: NO PROBLEM! ?*from 9kg to 6.5kg baggage ?#ExcessBaggageChallengeAccepted

Posted by Gel Rodriguez on Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Can we name an award after this woman, please?

Thankfully for all of us, Rodriguez took a photo of the iconic photo and posted it on Facebook. Sometimes, social media really can be used for good…

People Whose Clothes Blend Seamlessly into the Background

Picture this: have you ever accidentally worn an outfit that made you blend in with your surroundings and you felt kind of foolish about it?

These photos are NOT like that because they are the work of a very skilled photographer, but they sure are beautiful to look at.

Photographer Joseph Ford has a book dedicated to this kind of work called Invisible Jumpers. Take a look at these pics.

1. That is pretty impressive.

2. Up the escalator you go.

3. Matching with a building.

4. This one is great.

Tom and Dre, 2019 48 hours knitting by @ninadoddknits Thanks to @burlandmusic and @_andrenels for agreeing to pose. Often when looking for models I wander the streets for hours or days, searching for inspiration. I’d wanted to step away from the stereotypes of people who fish so I went to a skatepark. Tom and Dre were surprised to be asked to model but agreed. I’d scouted the location on a grey day, and the jumper colours only matched the sea wall when the sky was overcast, so we had to wait hours for clouds to come over. We weighed the fishing line down with a thermos flask to make it look like Tom had just caught a big fish. No idea what the real anglers thought we were playing at. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #invisiblejumpers #knittedcamouflage #knitting #knittersofinstagram #hoxtonminipress #ninadodd #josephford #blendingin #fishing #angling #fishermenofinstagram #fishermen #aquamarine #seaside #seawall #anglers #pecheurs

I spotted this location in Brighton a while back. I loved the rich palette of greens and blues, the dilapidated door and the ragged grey mop against the wall. It seemed the perfect place to photograph Fimber Bravo, the renowned steel pan player. I’d come across his captivating music a few years ago and wanted to work with him for a while. Nina, knitter extraordinaire, loves a challenge and spent weeks working on this jumper. Time well spent. Thanks to #fimberbravo for modelling, @dukeofwoollington as always, @infinityfoodsbrighton for allowing us to take over your loading bay and @lilli.bpayne for your help on the shoot. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #fimberbravo #knittedcamouflage #infinityfoods #brighton #brightonlife #knittersofinstagram #camouflage #musician #portrait #steelpan #dreadlocks #leaves #green #chateauoart

Your Yellow Pit Stains Aren’t Sweat — Learn the Science Behind All the Chemical Reactions Happening

White tees are a crucial part of any wardrobe for men and woman — until the inevitable yellow pit stains. The stains can be super annoying to get out, and many people think they’re caused solely by sweat. So, antiperspirant or deodorant should prevent them, right? Wrong.

On the contrary, yellow pit stains are actually caused by antiperspirant.  They develop from a chemical reaction among the proteins in sweat, the cotton in T-shirts, and the aluminum salts in antiperspirant.

Aluminum is the key active ingredient in antiperspirant, and it’s what differentiates antiperspirants from plain deodorants. The ingredient has become controversial in recent decades due to a fear that it is linked to breast cancer (though there’s actually not a clear link). Some health advocates also say that it’s just healthier to let yourself sweat.

Well, apparently there is another reason to avoid aluminum — it is the cause of those pesky yellow pit stains. At the very least, adding more antiperspirant is definitely not going to solve the yellow stain problem.

But even before aluminum-based antiperspirant, sweat stains came in a wide range of colors depending on what products people used for deodorant. Around the turn of the 20th century, a product called Odorono tended to result in red underarm stains. Clothing artifacts from history show sweat stains that are yellow, orange, red, brown or even green.

Luckily, there are other

to prevent yellow pit stains without switching your deodorant. You can pre-treat your new, unyellowed T-shirts with an enzymatic laundry spray right after you wear them, or add a bit of lemon juice to your load of whites (but only whites!).
