People Discuss the Creepiest Stories They’ve Ever Read Online

We’d like to believe that we’re too brave and too sensible to be frightened by something as simple as reading a story, no matter how scary it might be. It’s just words on a page, after all, right?

Well, we might be as brave as they come, but if you’re going to read something that’s creeped out a bunch of folks on the internet, you might want to at least read it while the sun’s still up.

Or make sure someone else is home. Just in case.

14. Cult stuff is always creepy.

Probably the one from that one user who went to like a summer camp which turned out to be a cult.

He managed to escape but they followed him around everywhere, he then stated in another reddit post that the story was made up but it all was really weird.

I wonder what he did after that since he never posted again after asking how u delete posts, which was a bit odd

13. Alternate universe?

A story of a dude on a road trip with his brother.

They go into a Red Robyn late at night in a town they’ve never been before and everyone recognizes them. Like they just left the diner.

When they’re obviously confused, everyone acts like the OP is just messing with them.

12. An actual nightmare.

The one where a man gets a bad splinter that gets so bad his hand starts going numb.

He pulls it out only to find its not a splinter but a parasite that had buried into his hand, and it laid eggs.

11. Purple Mommy.

Purple mommy.

When my son was first learning to talk, he would tell us about something called “purple mommy”. It could be an imaginary friend, but these details are a little bit creepy.

Here’s a few of the purple mommy details.

Purple mommy is all purple with long hair and bright all white eyes(at the time he mixed up purple with black, so he could have meant she was all black).

Purple mommy picks him up at night, and turns off the lights. We would often find my son out of his crib in the morning, which would mean him crawling over the railing and to the ground, at a time when he was barely walking. Definitely found the lights in his room off a few times too, even though he’s terrified if the dark.

Purple mommy needs a bandage because she has blood everywhere.

Purple mommy has no smile, meaning a mouth.

Purple mommy can take her head off.

Purple mommy really doesn’t like daddy.

He told us all of this stuff for maybe a year or a little more. If we ever asked where she was, he’d always point to the same spot. A corner of the room behind his open closet door. He would also wake up crying almost every night during this time.

Once, during a really rough night, my wife went to ask him whats wrong, and his answer was “purple mommy wont let me sleep.”

10. A random detail.

There was a story where a friend had invited her friend over for a sleepover. Since it was a single bed, the friend had to sleep at the bottom of the floor beside the bed. The girl woke up in the middle of the night to find her friend standing at the doorway and calling her to go out and get Tandoori chicken to eat. When she refused, the friend yanked her hand and pulled away.

They went out of the house and the friend explained she didn’t want to get tandoori chicken. She instead pulled her out of her house because she saw a person underneath her bed when she woke up in the middle of the night.

9. Probably something worse.

A woman was driving on road between maize fields at late night. Suddenly she spotted a body lying in the middle of the road.

She wanted to check but it was scary so she just drove past the body. After some xx metres she looked at her rear mirror and saw a group of people coming out of the maize field.

It was a trap. Maybe for robbery or something worse.

8. Careful who you let in your home.

After getting our coffee we sit down.

Me: So, what’s this story you have for me? You sounded pretty shaken up.

Lisa: Well, yesterday I was taking care of D and NS and D went down for her nap. When I walked by her room to check on her, she was singing, “Blood, blood from the baby, it’s okay he wanted to play. Blood blood from our mommy, that’s okay she died today.”

Me: *wide eyes* What… the f*ck?

Lisa: I KNOW. So, I sat her down and asked her where she learned that song and she said she learned it from her imaginary friend, Rupert. She said he talks to her sometimes and they sing together, mostly at night.

Me: That’s insane.

Lisa: I know, so I asked M about it and she said that D has been saying that for a while and that Rupert has been apparently trying to get her to get up in the middle of the night, go to NS’s room and get him out of the crib to be in her room.

Me: How long has this been going on?

Lisa: Ever since they brought the baby home. There’s no way she could have learned that unless someone told her. Her parents don’t watch anything that would trigger that and she’s very well sheltered.

Me: *After leaning back and thinking for a while* Wait… Oh f*ck.

Lisa: What?

Me: When they brought him home, did they buy new baby monitors?

Yes. That was it. We called the family and had them check it out. The monitors didn’t record, but they could move and also have audio output. They waited until night, then stood outside the daughter’s door until they heard a man talk over the monitors and start singing to her.

Immediately, they unplugged them and called the police, but there was nothing that they could do to trace the guy. I walked them through two-step authentication on Nest units after that and Rupert hasn’t come back. F*cking sickos, man.

7. Very bad things.

The original is an Iraq vet who was with his girlfriend driving through a desert highway. They see what appears to the aftereffect of a car crash; two vehicles. Twisted metal, the road has various bits of broken plastic and steel. There are bodies around, she wants to stop to see if they can help.

He does not stops here.

The scene is quite sanitary – where’s the blood and guts? He slowly drives around the bodies and continues on a bit and halts. Nothing. Then a couple of the bodies sit up. He hits the gas and races away.

It was a set up for… bad things.

6. That will stick with you.

It was a guy on I think legal advice whose wife had gone batsh** crazy and was stalking a woman she didn’t really know. It was a friend of a friend or a coworker or something. To the point she showed up at the venue of the ladies baby shower and was telling people she lied about who the baby’s father was

He had this long bullet point list of the crazy stalker things his wife was accused of when she finally arrested for stalking and harassing this woman. And in the end his question was how much is he personally liable for financially in all this. No plans to divorce or anything. Just can the courts force Him to pay restitution for his wife’s clear insanity?

5. I would have left, too.

There was a young girl (probably a toddler) who would tell her dad there’s a man in her closet. It would happen often at night until her dad got sick of it and went to the closet.

He pulled at the handle but the door opened a bit, then shut as if someone was pulling it shut from the other side.

He told the kid to get out of their room and close the door, and he opened the closet and there was a dude in there.

4. A glitch in the Matrix.

So I guess a little context is in order. My girlfriend and I had been together about a year at the time, never had big problems, we are both pretty relaxed people. Never have had a big fight, never had trust issues, the whole shenanigan.

So one day I was out in front of my apartment building smoking a cigarette, this was before we lived together. I had seen her the night before, had a nice dinner, gone out to a bar, then gone to my place, after which she took a taxi home. So as I’m standing out in front of my apartment building, she pulls up in a taxi. I wasn’t expecting her, and was pleasantly surprised to see her. I put out my cigarette, smiled and walked up saying something like “Hey, what are you doing here?” (in a very friendly way).

She scours at me, and slaps me square across the jaw. Obviously I’m dumbfounded, and at a loss for words so I just kind of looked at her. She never said anything, just barged past me into the building.

I followed her up to my apartment, asking her what was happening the whole way, she goes into my apartment, grabs her bag and some of her stuff she left there, throws a few things at me, breaking a glass or two and knocking down a bunch of stuff on a shelf. She calls me a pig, says she knows everything, and that I’ve broken her heart. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on obviously, and she stops on her way out when I touch her sleeve, glares at me again and slaps me. She tells me something like “I hope I never see you again” and walks out. I followed her to the street and she got in her cab, and drove off. The street was pretty empty, this was maybe 8-9am, and i watch her drive off. At this point I’m just lost for words, scared and sad.

Then, as I’m watching the cab drive away, someone hugs me around my waist from behind. I turn around, and its her, in running clothes (she was wearing heels and a leather jacket before), and I went completely pale. She said “hi” in her usual happy-go-lucky tone, then noticed my look and said “what’s wrong”.

I spun around, no taxi. It had literally driven away 5 seconds earlier, no way it could’ve turned in that time, and all the lights were red. I didn’t say anything to her, just ran upstairs. Her bag was gone, things were still broken, my door still wide open. So then I told her.

We were both monumentally confused, there’s no way I could have mixed her up with someone else, and she’s an only child. We had security check the cameras, and sure enough, Me following a girl to my apartment. The angles weren’t great, and the film wasn’t great quality, but it was pretty easy to see me and my face, but hers was always hard to make out looked a hell of a lot like her, but never a clear shot.

No way it was the same girl.

Still creeps me the f*ck out, and we don’t talk about it.

3. Goatman. Love the scifi twist.

I’ve not read it in years, but I was always spooked by the one in which a group of friends are hanging out together when suddenly they all get the feeling that someone else was had also been with them… except they can’t remember who.

2. Definitely a ghost.

I was in Vegas once sometime around 1996. Our cheap a** hotel room had a gap under the door, enough to get a few fingers through. I was somewhere around second grade and had brought a Batman action figure to keep me occupied. I ended up sticking him under the door a few times for whatever reason. As I pulled it back in a hand followed like it was trying to grab it. It moved around like it was feeling for the figurine and then pulled back

I threw the door open and there was no one there. No doors opening or closing, no elevators or fire escapes near us, not a god damn sound in that hallway. I still can’t figure out how anyone could have disappeared that quick. Even if they sprinted to the room across the hall and the door had been open,

I should have heard/seen them closing the door or something…

1. What if…

It pretty much said something like : “Do you ever hear a faint static noise when you’re lying in bed in complete silence ? If you listen closely, you may start hearing whispers. But when you can hear them is when they can start noticing you too.”

The story was really short and probably better written than that, but I had to sleep with videos or music playing as I fell asleep because the more I focused on silence the more I kept convincing myself I was hearing things xD

I would so not be ok if any of these had happened to me, y’all. Yikes.

This Guy Doesn’t Want to Give Any Money to His Pregnant Ex. Is He a Jerk?

I have a feeling that this story is gonna contain a whole lot of drama.

Which is good if it doesn’t involve you, I suppose…

A man in his twenties shared his story on Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page because he’s having some inner turmoil about a situation involving his ex girlfriend…and some money…and a baby…

Let’s take a look.

AITA for not giving money to my pregnant ex?

“My ex (25f)and I (27M) were together about 6 months but during that time we were free to see other people.

Things weren’t working out so we broke up. Over a month after that she finds out she’s pregnant and tells me baby is mine. But I already knew she was seeing other guys so it was also possible the baby isn’t.

She got mad that I was having doubts but I said if we got a paternity test and it showed I’m the dad then yeah I’ll 100% be involved.

My Ex didn’t want that and she’d rather wait until after the baby is born to get a test done so I said that’s fine, it’s her choice. But I won’t get myself involved unless I know the baby is mine.

Like I already know I could be set up for child support if I start helping out now and then later it’s revealed I’m not the father. (I live in the US and have heard this stuff happens a lot)

I’d rather not even risk it you know?

She’s about 8 months now and I have started saving up money, reading up some books, making shopping cart lists of baby clothes and furniture to buy incase I am the father so it’s not like I’m not preparing for this at all.

So right now money is tight with her since I know she’s only working part time. She doesn’t have the money for a baby bassinet or clothes because she practically lives paycheck to paycheck.

She started asking to let her borrow money for baby stuff but I’ve told her no. Far as I know she doesn’t have other family she’s close to and friends are the same as her with money.

But I already said I’ll start giving her money and helping out once I know her son is mine. Otherwise I’d rather not get involved. I’ve even told her to reach out to the other guys who could also be the dad’s but she said one is even more broke and the other she hasn’t been able to contact.

So for right now seems like I’m the only one actually able to offer financial support.

We have a couple mutual friends and I’m getting sh*t from them because they know I have the money to help out. She could be the mom of my kid so the least I could do is provide.

They say they would if they had the money, since I do have the means and this baby could be mine I should already be helping.

They have a point. The baby could be mine and I’ll be happy to help out…once I know he is in fact mine. But everyone else is seeing it as I’m being too cold and inconsiderate.

I don’t think I am but want to know what others believe…

AITA?”

Here’s how people reacted on Reddit.

This person stated the obvious: this guy doesn’t owe her any money until she can prove he’s the father.

Another reader said that this man needs to insist on a DNA test and not give up a cent until it’s proven that he’s the father.

This individual argued that this whole situation is very suspect and that if it’s not his kid, it’s not his responsibility.

Finally, a person said that it seems like the woman has latched on to him because she knows he has some cash. And it’s pretty telling that she has refused to get a DNA test…

Okay, now we want to get your opinion.

In the comments, tell us what you think about this situation.

We’d love to hear from you!

Cool Dinosaur Facts You Might Not Know

One of the great things about science is how we’re literally always discovering new things. Not only that, scientists get a little thrill at getting to revise and update previous work, so no one is ever going to pretend like a new discovery didn’t upend everything we believed yesterday.

Which means there are always new and cool dinosaur facts floating to the surface, and even if you’re not a kid anymore, there’s no reason not to love these 16 fun tidbits of information.

16. It’s tough to picture.

T-rex didn’t have exposed teeth. It had full lip cover. they can be absolutely sure about this because the tooth enamel wouldnt survive constant exposure.

Most artists assumed a T-rex jaw would look like a crocodile jaw, but never considered that the croc’s teeth are protected by the water

15. That seems like an easy thing to fix.

Here’s a fun movie trivia fact from a famous dinosaur movie:

Do you remember in Jurassic Park the mosquito stuck in the amber where they supposedly got the DNA from?

Well, that is an elephant mosquito, the only mosquito that doesn’t suck blood, so it couldn’t possibly contain any dinosaur DNA.

14. Bless his heart.

My son somehow thinks its a travesty that they don’t exist anymore and will sit up at night and be upset he can’t know all the answers to his dinosaur questions.

13. They’ve seen a lot of sh%t.

That Sharks where around before Dinosaurs and Trees.

12. Just for starters.

Iguanodon, the most abundant dinosaur of them all, lived on 5 continents.

T. rex had a bite force of 6 tons.

Stegosaurus would flush blood through its plates, most likely to intimidate predators or attract mates.

The leg bones of large sauropods like argentinosaurus or seismosaurus could be 20 feet tall and weigh as much as a ton.

11. They’re running out of names.

There’s a dinosaur that was discovered in Australia near a Qantas airport, so they named it Qantassaurus.

10. I would have liked to have seen that.

Some herbivores didn’t join the adult herd until juveniles and were big enough. Before that, some lived in the forest/jungle in baby herds. For safety.

9. Only the birds survived.

Dinosaurs are a diverse group of reptiles of the clade Dinosauria. They first appeared during the Triassic period, between 243 and 233.23 million years ago, although the exact origin and timing of the evolution of dinosaurs is the subject of active research.

They became the dominant terrestrial vertebrates after the Triassic–Jurassic extinction event 201.3 million years ago; their dominance continued through the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

The fossil record demonstrates that birds are modern feathered dinosaurs, having evolved from earlier theropods during the Late Jurassic epoch. As such, birds were the only dinosaur lineage to survive the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event approximately 66 million years ago.

Dinosaurs can therefore be divided into avian dinosaurs, or birds; and non-avian dinosaurs, which are all dinosaurs other than birds.

8. And we probably never will.

We don’t actually know how they looked like when they were alive, we just think they look like what they’re perceived as.

Same with sounds. We just made up what we think they would have sounded like and everyone went with it.

7. It’s hard to imagine.

Tyrannosaurus Rex and Stegosaurus were evidently never on the planet together…separated by millions of years ¯_(ツ)_/¯ fake news museums will have you believe otherwise with their standard fight scenes…

6. Poor Newman.

Dilophosaurus (the one with the neck fans that pop out and rattles) doesn’t look like it does in Jurassic Park. They’re bigger (10ft tall), they don’t spit acid/venom, and don’t have neck umbrellas.

That’s actually part of the plot in the novel. The scientists were surprised by both of those things the the first ones were cloned, as neither thing showed up in the fossil record. (How much of this stuff was intentionally added by the InGen scientists for a “wow” factor is up for debate.) That section of the novel was always one of my favorites, as it always made me wonder what else we assume about fossils when so much of the original animal is missing.

Crichton knew there was no evidence of the hoods or venom when he wrote the book, and thought the idea of something so defining to the fictional species being something the fossil record couldn’t indicate was interesting.

5. Now it’s canon.

When the T-Rex attacks the kids in the Jeep, the glass was supposed to break. Instead, the entire pane fell on the kids as a thousand pound animatronic pushed it down on them. Their screams of terror in that scene are real.

4. Well I’m off to Google.

Ooh, my time to shine! My username is of an ancient now extinct animal, though not technically a dinosaur. Kubanochoerus used to be this humungous unicorn pig, like a half ton boar with a big old horn in the middle of its forehead.

Pretty bada$s of you ask me.

3. Just lick it.

When you are looking for dinosaur bones you can tell the difference between a fossil and a rock by touching your tongue to it. If it “sticks” a bit and kinda sucks back it is porous and probably bone.

2. It was a long wait.

I hope I’m regurgitating this fact correctly, but It took the triceratops longer to evolve to have horns than the amount of time they’ve been extinct.

1. A goofball dinosaur.

Therizinosaurus was a large, bipedal herbivore that occupied an ecological niche akin to that of the giant ground sloths of the Pleistocene: using its meter-long claws to pull down tree branches. It looked goofy as hell, like an eight-meter long turkey, especially since it was likely to have had at least some feathery integument.

The real kicker? It was a cousin of T. rex. Yes, that guy. One of the most terrifying carnivores ever to walk the earth had a vegetarian Edward Scissorhands for a cousin. And, yes, it likely used those scythe-like claws for defense, too.

These are all going straight into my brain and never leaving. It’s where they belong!

People Share the Coolest Dinosaur Facts They Know

Kids who grow up obsessed with dinosaurs never lose their interest in it. If you need proof of this statement, just look at the popularity of the enduring (and still going) Jurassic Park franchise!

For some reason it’s not “cool” for adults to love talking about dinosaurs, but I say it’s about time to change all of that – and these 18 people know some amazing facts you’re not going to want to miss.

18. Waiting for discovery.

We have not even begun to scratch the surface of how many dinosaurs there actually were. We are finding new species as often as every 2 weeks (I imagine this is not true at the moment with corona going on right now).

I saw a movie at the Field Museum and I believe it said that we have only discovered 2% of all dinosaurs that have ever walked on earth. This was years ago so I imagine that number is different now but it’s crazy to think about just how long they were actually living on our planet. 165 millions years is a crazy number to wrap your brain around.

17. By the time you hear it, it’s too late to run.

Scientists have studied the nasal and throat structure of the tyrannosaurus rex and as it turns out it was completely incapable of vocalizing a roar like those seen in movies, rather they would have made deep growling noises similar to alligators.

16. I actually love how dorky this is.

The word “Dinosaur” means “terrible lizard”.

Since the coining of the name it has been determined that they are not lizards.

The name still fits though, because they make for terrible lizards.

15. That’s odd.

Raptors couldn’t walk around with its hands hanging palm down like most toys and movies show, their bone structure wouldn’t allow it. They had to keep their palms facing each other.

14. Wait, what?

Velociraptors are a lot smaller than depicted in movies.

An actual velociraptor was more like a turkey with attitude: around the size of a Thanksgiving roaster with feathers, teeth, and claws.

13. I always share this fact.

Cartoonist Gary Larson named a dinosaur part.

In one of his strips, a caveman scientist described the spikes on a stegosaurus tail as “the thagomizer, named after the late Thag Simmons”.

Real life paleontologists realized this part had no name… so they started calling it the thagomizer.

12. Not-so-feathered friends.

Many know dinosaurs likely had feathers also known as dino fuzz. However, now many scientists are discovering that the feathers on many dinosaurs have likely been overdone as a result of the feather craze. View the video below on the most up-to-date version of a T-rex. 🙂

11. I’m picturing a tiny tail but I’m sure that’s not right.

Recently spinosaurus was discovered to have a tadpole-like tail. It has been known for a while that it was mostly an aquatic animal, even Jurassic Park III showed that, but it was always depicted with the standard lizard-like dinosaur tail.

Recently new fossils have emerged that show that the creature had a tail like that of a tad pole, suggesting that it spend much more time in water than previously thought.

It was not, however, a water pursuit predator, as detailed by the paper “The ecology of Spinosaurus: Evaluating the ecology of Spinosaurus: Shoreline Generalist or aquatic pursuit specialist?” by Hone and Holtz (I’ve actually spoken with Hone).

It is in fact more evident that spinosaurus was incapable of pursuing animals underwater as do crocodiles, and more evidence based on their morphology points towards it being a wader, like a heron, sitting and waiting for fish to pass by and snapping at them. This “tappole” tail could therefore be attributed to sexual displays or something we don’t know of yet.

10. I KNEW it.

There is a Dinosaur named Yi Qi from the limestone deposits in China that has the exact same body plan as a Wyvern Dragon, complete with bat-like Wings and proves that flight evolved more than once in dinosaurs

9. It boggles the mind.

They were around for longer than they’ve been extinct.

Which means that there were dinosaur fossils when dinosaurs existed. Tyrannosaurus rex (late Cretaceous, 68 mya) lived closer in time to us than to Stegosaurus (late Jurassic, 150 mya)

8. Stupid wars.

There was an ultra rare skeleton of a dinosaur called spinosaurus that was the only one of its kind (not complete, but only evidence of it) and it got destroyed during ww2 when bombs fell on the museum in Germany.

Only recently another intact skeleton has been found in North Africa. Which was more complete and gave some clues about where it lived and how it got so big( it was bigger than a T. rex )

7. I would not like to see those.

There was a study done a few years ago where scientists grew chicken embryos that had dinosaur faces – a rounded snout and teeth instead of a beak. They did this by altering gene expression in the developing embryos, so the snouts came out looking more like an alligator’s than a traditional bird’s.

Also, birds actually existed at the same time as non-avian dinosaurs. Archaeopteryx was a Jurassic dinosaur, so the evolution of birds began long before velociraptors and T. Rex were walking the earth. Edit for clarification: they may not have been true birds as we know them today, but the avian dinosaurs branched off from non-avian dinosaurs well before the K-T extinxtion event that killed the non-avian dinosaurs, and continued their evolution into what we know as modern birds.

Finally, there’s a weird bird in the Amazon called the Hoatzin, and it’s notable because the chicks have 2 claws on their wings. These allow the chicks to climb trees until their wings are strong enough for actual flight; by adulthood the claws disappear. These birds are the last surviving members of a bird line that branched off from other avian species 64 million years ago, just after the non-avian dinosaurs were wiped out. They’re basically just really weird dinosaur birds that are very stinky and have gross tasting meat because they have a weird digestive tract.

6. It’s going to take a minute to process this.

Pterosaurs aren’t dinosaurs, Plesiosaurs aren’t dinosaurs, and Dimetrodon is not a dinosaur.

In fact, Dimetrodon is a synapsid and is more closely related to humans than to dinosaurs.

5. Plenty of religious sects don’t.

The Amish don’t believe in dinosaurs.

There are other christian cults that believe that the world was only created about 4000 years ago. They believe that there never were dinosaurs, just fossils created by god.

4. Where are the babies?

There’s a cool Ted Talk about why we’ve never found baby dinos.

3. Talk about good/bad timing.

There is a fossil called the “Fighting Dinosaurs” that shows a Velociraptor and Protoceratops locked in combat. The Velociraptor has its killing claw thrust in the neck of the Protoceratops, and the Protoceratops has the hand of the Velociraptor clutched in its mouth.

It’s thought that they died suddenly while in combat due to getting buried in a landslide of sand, caused by a rare torrential downpour. Real-life Velociraptors may be small, but they’re still metal as hell.

2. Scarier and scarier.

Dinosaurs such as T. Rex could produce infrasonic waves.

You’d basically feel in your spine.

1. Some tough monkeys.

T. Rex was actually really tough. Some skeletons have been found with major injuries that show evidence of years worth of healing.

A skeleton named Stan in particular had a hole in his skull, and he may have lived up to a decade after having his skull punctured if the bone healing is any indication.

Like Sue, one of the largest female T. Rex skeletons we have. One of her femurs is gigantic and misshapen due to an infection, she had a dead, hanging arm due to a torn bicep, had broken ribs on both sides of her chest, broken at 2 different times based on research how they healed, and had holes in her jaw due to germs. Her skeleton was difficult to put up because her tail bones were fused together due to arthritis.

These animals ran on pure hatred which undoubtedly fueled their survival drive. However, the severity of T. Rex injuries which they survived hints that they could’ve lived in pairs or small groups and they actually cared for each other ensuring their survival.

They were long considered to be solitary hunters that would rather feast on dead carcasses than hunt, but their injuries seem to point to the fact that they were active hunters. 15 years ago a family of 6 tyrannosaurids ranging from juvenile to adult was found in a mass grave suggesting they died together as a family.

I’m so happy all of these live in my head now.

A Woman Asks if She’s Wrong for Calling Out Her Father as a Bully and a Bad Parent

If you don’t regularly read Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page, you should be.

People post all kinds of interesting, personal stories about drama that has gone down in their lives and they ask Reddit readers to give them the straight dope: are they being *ssholes, or not?

Here’s yet another tale from the AITA page. Let’s take a look.

AITA for threatening to expose my father to the society he keeps?

“My(22F) parents divorced when I was 5, both of them had remarried within a year of that and both have families of their own.

At the moment, I am working part-time at the library of my uni where I’m also pursuing my Masters. I’m living in a flat with a couple of other flatmates. I make ends meet but generally I’m a bit skint.

I never had anything but barely cordial relationships with my parents individually, my father used to be some kind of a bully in my childhood and my mother was at the best disinterested in my upbringing. My parents are being much better at parenting the second time around, I have half siblings on both sides.

I’m particularly close to my half brother James(15) (on my father’s side) and we share quite a few common interests. On several occasions though, I’ve seen father being rather unkind to him because he seems to think James is “too wet” and not manly enough.

The last weekend I was invited for my father and his wife’s marriage anniversary celebrations at his house and James came out while at the dinner table. There was only the immediate family and a few guests invited but our father decided to throw a wobbly and started berating him in front of everyone present. The guests all appeared flummoxed and very uneasy, nobody came to his aid and James was on the verge of tears.

I was really p*ssed off (and I’m not good with my temper) at my father and told him he had lost the plot completely after a few good years, that he’s been a bully to everybody around him and he doesn’t get to keep his appearances up as a good parent in front of his friends if he cannot treat his children right.

This lead to huge row in front of everybody with James crying and my father screaming at us some more and threatening to throw him out, at which point I told him I’d gladly take him in if he wishes to rather stay with me.

I left with James that day after ringing my flatmates and they were more than happy to accommodate him. He has since returned to my father’s house but he stated he preferred staying with me and taking the bus to his school.

My father and step mother are livid and are not talking to me since the incident but my extended family and people I know through my father have been bombarding me on social media letting me know how much out of line I have been.

AITA?”

Here’s how folks responded.

This person said that this is not those folks’ business and they need to respect boundaries. And that this young woman did the right thing by sticking up for her brother.

This person said that perhaps the woman’s brother thought it would be safer to do this in public…they might be right about that.

Another Reddit user said that it’s clear that the younger brother lives in an abusive household and is probably afraid…and that the woman’s extended family is pretty terrible.

Finally, this reader said that the younger brother might have chosen a better time to come out but realistically, the father was going to be rude about it no matter the time and place.

And they added that James will most likely be leaning on her for a long time due to the family’s bad behavior.

This Man Banned His Sister From Seeing His Kids. Was He Wrong?

Have you ever heard of someone banning their own family members from seeing their kids?

I’m sure it happens all the time, I’m just glad I’ve never had to deal with anything like that in my own life.

But let’s see how things like this transpire with a story from a man who took to the “Am I the *sshole?” page on Reddit to see if he was wrong for banning his own sister from seeing his children.

AITA for banning my sister from seeing my kids after what she said?

“Let me make it clear, I completely understand that having kids is not for everybody. I respect this and have no problem with it.

I (37M) have five children, (10M), (8F), (5M), (3M) and a five month old son, all of whom have only recently met my sister (33F). She’s a wonderful person, but has always been a bit of a free-spirited person, and likes to be in several other places besides home.

Obviously, she’s only really seen them through SKYPE calls, but they seemed to really be hitting off. And then, a few days ago, my mom sent me pictures of texts she’d exchanged with my sister, in which my sister called my kids ‘brats’ and said that she cringed throughout each a DJ every call because the kids, apparently, were just so terrible to talk to.

I sent the texts to my sister to see what she had to say. My sister asked what I wanted her to say, that she just telling the truth. I told her that, if that’s just how she felt, that she was no allow to see the kids in any way, shape or form.

Now, my mom’s on my back, saying that she had wanted us to talk about it like ‘civilized adults’ and that I’d overreacted. She told me that my sister had a right to her own opinion, and she was just exercising that right.

Is she right? I can kinda see both sides of the argument, I guess…”

Here’s how folks responded on Reddit.

This person believes that everyone is wrong in this situation, especially the man’s mother.

Another reader said that the whole family seems to be acting immaturely and that venting is normal among people who trust each other.

This Reddit user said that the man who wrote the post is indeed the *sshole in this situation and that he overreacted.

This person made it clear: this is all Mom’s fault!

A Man Asked if He’s Wrong for Suing His GF After She Got Rid of His Vintage Car

Never mess with a man’s car! Doesn’t everyone know this?

Well, apparently this woman wasn’t clear about this and she made a pretty major mistake…which you will read about below.

And this story takes a wild turn and involves a guy suing his own girlfriend.

Check out this tale from Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page.

AITA for suing my girlfriend after she had my 1967 Impala project taken to the scrapyard?

“I’ll try to keep this short. I had a 1967 Impala 4 door that I bought in Feb 2019. A couple months ago I bought my first house that had a 2.5 car garage.

I moved the car in and started tearing it down for a complete restoration. I had the body in one bay and the chassis in another, plus the whole garage filled with parts. About two months ago my girlfriend came to live with me during this whole crisis and the whole time has hated that car.

She wants to park in the garage but I have 2 acres of land with a lot of nice places to park under shady trees or hell even in the barn if it has to be inside. I tell her tough luck its my house and its not like I can just throw it back together real quick. Anyways I was out of town for a couple days on a business trip for the small local company I work for.

When I got back, my girlfriend was all smiles. Making me food all the time, doing all the chores, all that. I though maybe she just was happy to have me home but then I realized that I didn’t see her car in it’s usual spot. I asked her where she parked so I could make sure I mow that area and keep it clean and she said not to worry because she parked in the garage. I asked how and she told me to go check it out.

Turns out that while I was gone she hired some people to come over and move everything related to that car, including the drivetrain, body, and chassis and all parts, and take it to the local dump/scrapyard. I was absolutely dumbfounded. I had spent over 11k on that car including new parts, services, and the car itself.

I told her that I was going to be taking her to court for that and she brushed me off like I was being dramatic. I told her that its done between us and to pack her things and leave.

I admit I was a really angry but I did end up getting a lawyer, and as I have all the receipts for all that money spent and I have her on my house’s security cam footage letting the guys in and watching them take it all I think I can win.

Her family and friends are absolutely blowing me up saying its just a stupid old piece of junk and that she cannot pay back all that money I spent, and that I should just let it go. But I have been putting all my time, effort, and money into that car for a year and a half now and goddammit if I am not going to get justice for what she did.

AITA?”

Here’s how folks on Reddit responded.

This person thinks that the guy should sue his girlfriend, no questions asked.

Another reader said that the man’s girlfriend has a lot of nerve for what she did.

This reader said that this kind of action is divorce-worthy. Good thing this couple isn’t married yet.

This Reddit user said that the girlfriend was definitely in the wrong here. Full stop.

Finally, this woman said that her husband also has hobby cars and she would never dream of doing something like this.

A Woman Told Her Younger Sister It’s Time to Grow Up. Was She Wrong?

Some people just have to learn lessons in life the hard way…but this time it might be a little bit different.

And you’re about to read a story from a young woman who had a confrontation with her younger sister and set her straight about how things are gonna be from now on.

But she clearly has some guilty and asked folks on Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page if she was wrong for what she said.

Let’s take a look.

AITA for telling my sister I’m not her mom and it’s not my job to keep looking after her?

“I (21f) have a sister (18f).

My parents put me in the worst position of being her keeper/caretaker when we were kids. I was expected to help her with homework, help her with friend problems, if she was in trouble with a kid they would ask me to speak to the kid or an older sibling if they had one around my age.

I was responsible for walking her to and from school on my way to school. My mom would make me late sometimes because she was running late and I wasn’t allowed to leave without her (I was in a different school to her). It was so bad when we were teenagers. I got the job of explaining periods to her, the job of looking after her when they weren’t home (and that was a pretty regular thing with them).

When I moved out I distanced myself from all of them. I didn’t want to be responsible for her anymore, and I didn’t want to end up having them push her to live with me. And she wanted everything. She wanted me to cook for her, buy clothes for her, take her places, help with homework and other school stuff. She would also want me to sit and listen to her vent all her problems.

So anyway, she moved out of our parents house and cut them out of her life and then she reaches out to me and says she needs me to help her out. She was struggling to pay rent, struggling with school, struggling to grocery shop and she wanted to move in with me or have me come over every day to help.

I told her she needs to figure stuff out for herself. She told me it was my job to help her. I said no. I said I am not her mom and it’s not my job to look after her. That it should never have been my job.

She’s p*ssed and one of my friends thinks I was too harsh since I’m the only person who ever really took care of her. They think I should at least try to get her up and running and teach her to be independent.

AITA?”

Let’s see how people responded on Reddit.

This person said that neither the woman or her younger sister were *ssholes in this situation, but it was actually the parents who are to blame for this whole mess.

This reader said that the whole story is sad and that the younger sister is not at fault here…and neither is the woman who wrote the post.

Another person said that the younger sister might be better off learning the hard way and figuring out some things on her own instead of relying on her older sister all the time.

But this person thinks that the younger woman is in the wrong because she still expects her sister to do everything for her.

A Teenage Girl Fought With Her Cousin About Being Adopted, But Did She Say the Wrong Thing?

Things can get pretty ugly during the heat of the moment, right?

We all say things we regret sometimes, but this teenage girl thinks she might have gone a little bit too far during an argument with her cousin.

Let’s see what she had to say on Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page.

AITA for telling my cousin “at least I know my parents wanted me” when she kept making comments about me not being family

“Some backstory- I (f17) was adopted when I was 3 months old.

My cousin (17f) is my grandparents only bio grandchild but she seems to be the only one that cares about that. She doesn’t like me because I got a full scholarship to a performing arts school and she didn’t get accepted and when my grandpa gave us his cars I got the “better” one.

We had a family dinner last week and my grandparents asked about my bf. My grandma jokingly asked when we’re getting married because she wants a great grandchild. I laughed and said it’ll be a while and my cousin cut in and said “they probably want a REAL great grandchild anyway”. I brushed it off and kept talking to my grandma.

When we were about to have dessert my grandpa realized he forgot to get ice cream asked me to drive into town and buy some. My cousin made another comment about how she’s the only real family member so she should’ve gotten the “good car”.

My grandpa told her to shut up and that I got the new car because I help them out and come to visit them almost every day and she doesn’t.

After dessert my grandpa said we should take my sister (14) to the backyard and teach her how to drive the golf cart. I agreed and told her I was driving that thing into town to run errands all the time when I was her age. My grandpa then told her maybe if she likes driving it he’ll give it to her.

My cousin lost it. She started screeching that it’s not fair that we get everything and we’re not even their real family. That p*ssed me off because she said it in front of my youngest sister (4) and made her cry so I snapped at her and said “at least we know our family wanted us”. Cousin screamed and stormed off and my sisters got more ice cream.

My grandparents think that was hilarious and I was totally in the right. My dad also thinks I’m in the right but my mom thinks that was mean and I should apologize so I wanted to know if I was the *sshole?”

And here’s how folks responded.

This person said that the cousin had it coming and you can only be disrespectful to people for so long before you get a taste of your own medicine.

Another reader commended the girl for sticking up for her family. Bravo!

This reader thinks that what the girl said to her cousin wasn’t mean, it was actually TRUE.

Finally, this person said that maybe she doesn’t get the special treatment from the grandparents because she’s a B-R-A-T. Make sense, right?

What do you think about this?

Was this girl wrong for what she said?

A Woman Asks if She’s Wrong for Banning Her Roommate’s Girlfriend From Their Apartment

Get outta here!

It feels good to say that sometimes, don’t you think?

And that’s what went down when a young woman decided to ban her roommate’s girlfriend from their apartment for some inappropriate behavior.

Let’s take a look at what happened.

AITA for banning my roommate’s girlfriend after she kept insisting I was hitting on her?

“I (24F) am a lesbian living with my good friend (25M). I own the apartment; I’m renting out the extra room to him.

A little over a month ago, he met a girl online, and they started dating. She is now at our place constantly. I’ll be honest, I’ve never really liked her. She was incredibly standoffish and rude to me from the beginning. I eventually learned it was because she thought I had a thing for my roommate. Even after he told her I was gay, apparently her only argument was, “she doesn’t look gay.”

A few weeks ago, we were all drinking and hanging out at our place with a few close friends. I tried to mend fences by pulling the GF aside and telling her that I really am gay, I have no interest in stealing her boyfriend, and I hope we can be friends.

She seemed to take this very well, and was OVERLY friendly with me the whole rest of the night. I thought she was just trying to make up for being so cruel at first.

The next day, my roommate asked if we could talk. He said his GF feels uncomfortable around me after I “drunkenly hit on her.” Wuuut. I was not even remotely close to being drunk. Also, I am negatively attracted to her. Like, way less than zero. I find her insanely annoying.

I tried to explain that I was trying to be nice, as I knew she didn’t particularly like me. I wanted to be civil if she was going to be around often. My roommate seemed skeptical, but he ultimately took my word for it and chalked it up to a miscommunication.

Fast forward a week or so, the friend group is hanging out at our place again. The GF comes over, of course. I’m cordial to her, but I try to keep my distance so another “miscommunication” doesn’t happen.

Towards the end of the night, one of our other friends comes up to me like, “Dude, what is going on? GF keeps telling everyone you’ve been checking her out and hitting on her all night?”

Again, I was stunned. And at this point, incredibly pissed off. I went right up to the GF in front of everyone, and said, “What the hell’s going on? Why are you spewing lies about me hitting on you to all my friends?”

She just stared at me, unable to respond. I continued, “Just because I’m gay does not mean I’m into you. Trust me, I am not the LEAST bit interested in you.”

She started sobbing that I was attacking her for no reason, calling her out, making her super uncomfortable again, etc. I told her to get the hell out, and that she was no longer welcome here for making ME feel uncomfortable in my own apartment. Her and my roommate left.

Needless to say, my roommate is super pissed at me. He hasn’t been back to our place since, but I’ve gotten some angry texts. I’m standing my ground that she is not welcome here anymore, but he is free to stay or move out as he pleases.

Most of our friends are on my side. I guess I could’ve been easier on her, but I am just so over it.”

Here’s how folks on Reddit responded to the woman’s story.

This person doesn’t think the woman was wrong for her actions at all…and they think the roommate’s girlfriend is all about the drama.

Another reader argued that the roommate’s girlfriend probably has a few screws loose…I think I agree with this one.

This reader agreed that this woman is definitely not wrong about her actions and that she actually handled it the best way she could.

This person pointed out the obvious: the roommate’s girlfriend is straight-up JEALOUS.

Finally, another Reddit user said that the roommate’s girlfriend got exactly what she deserved. And they said she is toxic and manipulative.
