What Would You Do if Time Stood Totally Still for 48 Hours? Here’s How People Responded.

Before I learned that time was going to stand still for 48 hours, I would want to learn how to fly an airplane so I could fly wherever I wanted and do some serious exploring without any interference.

Hey, a boy can dream, right…?

What do you think your plan would be?

Folks on AskReddit talked about what they would do if time stood still for 48 hours.

Let’s take a look!

1. Sounds like a plan!

“About a half hour of not realizing, 47.5 hours of existential crisis, followed by years of therapy.”

2. I’ll take that!

“Rob drug dealers.

What are they gonna do? Report it to the police?”

3. Good luck with that.

“I would be a bank robbing mofo!

I could amass one hell of a stack in 48 hours.”

4. This is pretty good.

“Tie people’s shoe laces together.

Pick up all of the dog cr*p in my neighbor’s yard and put it in her living room.

And…. steal the Declaration of Independence, then hide it in Nic Cage’s house.”

5. Enjoy the peace and quiet.

“I’d steal a bicycle (because I don’t own one) and ride around enjoying the quiet and stillness.

Maybe an electric bicycle, because I’m old and fat, and in reality I’d probably last 10 minutes on a regular bike.”

6. What just happened?

“Move everyone slightly off the ground not enough to get hurt but enough to realize you’re falling making sure everyone is in the exact same position.

Except one person hanging off of something very visible so everyone gets a weird falling feeling except that guy who really can’t explain why he’s in a harness hanging of 2 light posts.”

7. You do you.

“Walk around naked with no shame.

Do a helicopter every now and then.

Find a nice spot, drinks some beers, whilst having some music on.

A basic way to spend my 48 hours, but a peaceful one.”

8. Mess with ’em a little bit.

“Have some fun.

Change things ever so slightly like switching peoples’ clothes, turning them around, turning cars around, put a dog leeah in random peoples’ hands.

So many minds are going to be blown!”

9. Too scared to act.

“I would think about doing illegal things, but then I would wonder if people were just not able to move but could still see what I’m doing, so I would be too scared to do anything.”

10. Shopping spree.

“I’d “go shopping”! I would hit all the big corporate stores and just steal everything of use. I’d finish my Christmas shopping.

I’d steal a fridge and a few freezers and stock my garage with food for a year. I’d steal items that are going to be rare favs this Christmas and then resell them on ebay once time unfroze.

I would hit the dispensaries and steal all of the weed. I’d take cash from all corporate stores. I would be set up for a long time.”

11. Help out the kids!

“This might be kind of weird, but I steal all the really good toys from Walmart that are on the hot lists right now.

Not like every single one, but quite a few. Walmart can take the hit.

Then I donate all that sh*t to Toys for Tots.”

12. You blew it!

“Be confused.

I would jump from one idea to another and won’t be able to start until the times over.

So basically nothing…”

13. Got it all figured out.

“First thing I do, get in my car and drive somewhere ~10 hours away from me.

I then start going around to jewelry shops and I start taking the precious metals. Mostly ignore the gemstones, those have lesser value on the resale and also have the possibility of getting tracked (gemstone chemical signatures and such are tracked to some extent for this reason).

I spend the bulk of the next 20 hours or so just loading up on gold/silver/etc before driving back towards my hometown.

Somewhere ~2 hours away from home (probably on the opposite side of where I did my thefts) I go to a spot in the middle of nowhere and I dig a hole in the ground in some very out of the way spot and I bury the metals there. I then head home and at that point I should have a few hours left. More preparation is needed.

The MOMENT that time resumes, I go to my car and I head out into town to my various usual shops. The Starbucks, the Subway, the grocery store, the hardware store, etc. And I make it a point to chat with the people there, maybe I hit on some of the employees (while dying inside, that’s not really something I do) just to make it a little more memorable in their minds. Pay for EVERYTHING using my credit cards. Stop by my bank and do something, like buying more checks or something.

The whole point of all of this is that if I left any DNA or anything behind, or somehow there was other indication that I was there, I have this alibi. Sure, you might have my DNA at the scene of the crime(s) but how do you explain that I provably was in my hometown 10 hours away from the crimes? I definitely don’t have a twin!

Either way, after a year or two (even if there’s no sign that they are onto me) I go and pick up the metals. From that point I set up a little home-forge (they are pretty easy to make for <$200 using random materials). From that, I melt all the metals down and I cast them as “artistic sculptures”.

Little things like a pound or so. Then from this over time, I drive around and go to pawn shops wanting to sell “my art”. Inevitably they won’t give a sh*t about the artistic value of these things but will likely pay for them in terms of “It’s a 1 pound solid gold statue. I’ll pay for the 1 pound of gold.”. And slowly but surely I convert all these things into cash. Never visit the same pawn shop twice.

As far as the cash is concerned, basically just start paying for everything in cash, though I don’t go ONLY with my ill gotten cash. Withdrawn money from my bank account now and then and when I’m paying for things, go 50/50 between the dirty money and the real money. Either way, I hide the sudden existence of the money by spending it slowly over time effectively reducing my expenses.

In this way my bank accounts have no real visible difference in behavior other than I appear to be living a bit more frugally. It wouldn’t be enough to trigger any audits so I should be good.

In the end, the reason I end up being able to buy something flashy is because it LOOKS like I saved up money over time, and I did if only because the dirty money helped me reduce my visible expenses.”

People Talk About the Statement, “Sleeping in Your Car Should Be Legal, and Not Looked Down Upon”

I’ve never actually lived in my car, but I’ve had a few nights when sleeping in my car was the best or the only option and I snoozed the night away in the backseat on a side street somewhere.

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do…

So why is there such a stigma around sleeping in our vehicles?

AskReddit users discussed whether sleeping in your car should be legal and shouldn’t be looked down upon.

Let’s see what they had to say.

1. Your decision.

“To me it makes no sense that you can’t legally sleep in your car in certain places. Like sure if you’re on someone else’s property you should find a better spot.

But there are whole cities where it is flat out illegal to sleep in your car on public property overnight. You own your car, it should be your decision if you can sleep in it.”

2. Agreed.

“It’s liability issues, but I agree with you.

If I was traveling around the country I’d hate to have to pay for a bunch of hotels when I could just chill in my car for a couple nights.”

3. You can make it work.

“You just have to have the right car, correctly set up. If they can’t see or hear you in the back of your vehicle, and if they have no reason to believe the vehicle is occupied, you’re golden.

I’ve done this with a cargo trailer that I set up inside as a camper with a bed, fridge, microwave, etc. Also, car camped for a while with a Honda Element that I put curtains over the windows. A panel van would work well too.”

4. From someone who’s been there.

“I slept in my car for 5 months.

I also had a job delivering sandwiches so it worked out. I usually slept in Walmart parking lots and never got bothered unless i parked literally anywhere else. Ive never had more run ins with the cops than when i lived out of my car, but on the flipside, they were all very understanding and never wrote me any tickets.

Living out of your car is very scary at first, but you get used to it and it is very eye opening/ enlightening. You get an outsiders perspective of the rat race. Everyone around you is in busy mode, chasing the next dollar just so they can afford a place to put a mattress.

In the city, sleeping is the only thing you’re not aloud to do anywhere else besides a home. You can literally do everything else you need to do to get by.

Living in your car gives you this sense of freedom that you’ll never get anywhere else besides an RV i suppose and even then, i would imagine you could get stuck in bed like you do at home. When you wake up from sleeping in your car, you’re up and ready to take on the day.

There is no sleeping in really because when you wake up you have to find the nearest bathroom before you sh*t your pants. The cleanest bathrooms that you can go in without looking weird because youre not buying anything are at the dollar tree. But they open at like 9am so i would always have to use Walmarts when i woke up. I will say, thunderstorms are pretty f*cking scary when you live in your car.

Every storm feels like a f*cking tornado is about to blow you away. But yeah. There are a lot more people who live out of their cars than you think.”

5. Might be true.

“I’m convinced the money hotels make from sleeping in a car being illegal is a contributing factor to why it’s still illegal.

Also, the general hatred of poor and homeless people in this country.”

6. Can be sketchy.

“Truck stops can be safer but it depends on where you are at.

Theres no way in hell id sleep at the TA truck stop off I 95 near New Jersey nor the one in Baltimore. Hell most of the truck stops whether they’re part of the Big 5 (Loves, Travel Centers of America (TA), Pilot, Flying J and Petro) or not, i wouldn’t stay at in the north east at all.

They’re incredibly unsafe, most are dirty and if you attempt to camp out via an RV or even just a tent and your car, you’re likely to have some very unwelcome attention from not just the truckers but also the truck stop employees and locals….. Most truck stops now will absolutely boot or tow your car/pickup if you are parked there for more than one or two overnight visits.

As for parking at Walmarts… No. Absolutely not. You cannot park, camp or stay overnight in Walmarts any longer due to the issues that are brought about by such things… Namely idiots leaving trash, dead food out in the parking lot, people using the parking lot as a bathroom, abandoning pets and just trashing the place for no reason (since there are trash cans everywhere).

Most Walmarts that allow you to camp out or even sleep in your vehicle on their property are very few and far between. Even asking management before you head to bed won’t do any good if theres a city ordinance that says no camping… Since 95% of Walmarts lease their land from the cities they operate in.

I was a trucker for 7yrs.”

7. I feel this comment.

“I’ve watched too many horror movies and documentaries to sleep in my car on the side of the road.

Like I’m legit afraid some hillbilly might kill me.”

8. I don’t think that would fly here.

“Apparently in a lot of Scandinavia they have “wanderer’s laws” or something that allow you to camp and forage on even private property in most cases.

Kind of an interesting concept.”

9. Shouldn’t be an issue.

“Honestly, it shouldn’t be an issue, so long as it’s limited to one or two night stay within a certain area, within a certain period of time (say per acre/per week).

And you must be low impact unless otherwise stated (no fire, no garbage left behind, no destruction of the property). Sadly, it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone else.”

10. Not in my backyard.

“I don’t want homeless people sleeping in front of my house.

I want my tax dollars to provide safe and adequate solutions for people.”

11. No winners here.

“This was actually a big thing where I grew up.

It was a very safe, upper middle class area with very little crime to pursue. Police spent a lot of their energy trying to hand out DUIs, but also fined people for sleeping in cars or leaving their car overnight.

It created a no-win scenario of either driving illegally or parking illegally.”

12. All about money.

“This is the reason right here. So many laws exist to force you to have to spend money on things.

“What you found a way to live that doesn’t force you to rely on consumerism and capitalism and doing work for you that makes you money that pays me less than I’m worth? To buy goods and services and products I don’t actually need and could find ways to do without paying?

We can’t have that!””

13. One night only.

“There are tons of places in the US where you can, but most only allow you to stay for a night.

Cracker Barrel, Walmart, Home Depot, etc., you just have to check for signs prohibiting overnight stays. I’ve parked my RV overnight in all of those places. Rest stops as well.

In smaller cities without big box stores, simply asking the local police if its OK always worked, especially when I mentioned getting a little too tired to drive.”

How do you feel about this?

Should people be able to sleep in their cars legally and without judgment?

People Share the Dumbest Things Folks Have Ever Confidently Said To Them

As you get a little bit older, you really pick up on one important thing about the world…there sure are a lot of DUMMIES out there!

You know what I’m talking about, right?!?!

And it also doesn’t really help that we currently live at a time when people don’t believe in facts and everyone thinks they’re right about everything.

Oh, boy…

AskReddit users shared really dumb things that people have said to them with confidence.

This should be interesting…

1. Beware of vampires.

“You can only get Covid-19 if you get bitten by someone who had it.”

2. Timezones.

“How can it be 9 AM here (Toronto) and 6 AM in Vancouver, at the same time?” – a work colleague, years ago. I tried to explain it but it didn’t work.

I remember that she was a very sweet and kindhearted lady and she really could not understand it.

I think she lacked some basic knowledge so the concept of timezones was too advanced for her.”

3. A well-known fact.

“There was a guy I knew from the UAE in college with me.

We were talking about track and field for some reason and he blurts out “Ya, women shouldn’t be running so fast because their ovaries will burst”.

He was absolutely serious and insisted this is a well known fact taught in high school biology.”

4. Let’s consult the map.

“‘Amsterdam is a city in London’.

I couldn’t even begin to explain how wrong she was.”

5. You idiot!

“Totally looked me in the eyes and yelled that all I do is sit on my *ss and that I should go get a job.

I’m in a f*cking wheelchair.

True story!!!”

6. Ouch.

“I worked at CVS and this woman was buying a 6 pack of Smart Water.

She asked me if it would make her smarter and when I said no she asked to speak with a manager?”

7. I think you’re right.

“I had a co-worker, 45 year old white dude from interior Saskatchewan argue with me that the Chinese phrase he heard that one time was absolutely correct and that I just didnt know it.

I am Chinese, born in China and speak fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.”

8. One of those folks…

“That dinosaur bones are manmade by scientists to convince us there is no God.”

9. It’s also a country…

“I was asked what country I’m from and I replied Georgia.

The person then said “oh, honey that’s a state. That’s not a country”…”

10. This is amazing.

“My friends wife believed me when I told her La Quinta means “behind Denny’s”.

He told me later she argued with her sister about it.”

11. Clearly a genius.

“I was talking to a girl on vacation and when we got to “what do you do for work?” I said I worked in my parents’ hog farm.

She, with a disgusted face said, “Why Don’t You Get Your Meat Ethically From The Store Like Everybody Else!?”

I was too dumbfounded to even carry on with that conversation and it ended almost right away”

12. You think so?

“A super Conservative buddy of mine…

We had a debate about global warming, green energy and using oil/fossil fuels for energy. I pointed out that regardless of how you feel about fossil fuels, we would have to eventually move on to something else because theres a limit to using oil and sh*t.

He said in a drunken stooper..”WE”RE GONNA FIND OIL ON THE MOON AND MARS!”

I told him the conversation was over after that since he didn’t understand where the f*ck oil came from..I still f*ck with him about it once in a while.”

13. A beautiful country.

“From someone doing a presentation in front of our class: Norwegians are from Norwegia.”

Hmmmm…not too bright…

Now we want to hear from you.

In the comments, tell us about the dumbest thing that someone has said to you with confidence.

This Woman Asked if She’s Wrong for Not Letting Her Sister Near Her Animal After She Made a TikTok Video With It

If you mess with any animal in any way, shape, or form, you’re no friend of mine.

And people these days seem to be doing all kinds of stupid pranks not only to other human beings but to animals as well to get a few laughs on social media.

An 18-year-0ld woman asked if she was wrong for the way she reacted to what her younger sister did to her pet.

Let’s see what happened…

AITA for not allowing my sister near my bearded dragon after doing a TikTok trend with my pet?

“I(18F) have a bearded dragon named Phil who I have had for about 1 year now. Phil is deeply loved by me and my family.

My sister(15F) who I will call Jane, really likes to make TikToks of Phil which I have completely no problem with since they’re normally just videos of Phil running around or doing something silly like opening his mouth when he basks.

Yesterday my sister came up to me to show me a Tik Tok she had made of Phil. There is a trend on Tiktok of putting butter on dogs as some audio plays over it of this guy saying “butter dog”. Well Jane showed me a video of her putting some soft butter on Phil so that she could follow the trend. When I saw that I became very upset.

I had seen a video recently of someone explaining how doing this trend with bearded dragons can be dangerous cause the butter will stick to their skin and if they get put back under their basking light the butter will heat up and basically burn the bearded dragons skin.

I told Jane to delete the video and that she can’t do stuff like that with Phil and quickly got him out from under his basking light that she had put him back under after the video and started to bathe him in the tub to try and get off any of the butter she didn’t wipe off.

My sister came and told me I was overreacting and that it’s just a fun trend. It snapped at her and told her I’m not letting her near Phil until she apologizes to me and promises to not do trends like these with Phil again, and ask me every time she wants to make a video with Phil.

My sister got angry and told me she wasn’t apologizing for just wanting to have fun with Phil and that I can’t take Phil away from her. After I finished making sure all the butter was off I put him back in his tank that’s in my room and told her she’s not allowed to come in and take Phil.

My parents found out this morning and told me I was out of line for what I did and that it was just a innocent video. They told me I need to stop freaking out so much over things that involve Phil. My sister said she’s not apologizing cause she didn’t know it would hurt Phil so I should get over it and let her see Phil again.

I feel like I can’t trust her with Phil though, if she hadn’t shown me the video Phil would’ve sat in his tank getting burned under his basking light and I wouldn’t even know until it was too late.

I think I might be the *sshole cause I could be overreacting like my family say I am and for yelling at her when she didn’t know that doing the trend would hurt Phil.

So reddit, am I the *sshole here?”

What the hell…?

Here’s how people responded to the story on Reddit.

This reader didn’t mince words: this was not funny and it was animal abuse.

Another Reddit user said that the woman is entirely justified in the way she acted toward her sister.

This person said that the woman’s sister has lost the privilege of seeing and spending time with Phil (great name, by the way) and that the safety of the pet is the most important thing.

Another person said that while she might have been a little bit harsh with her sister, the younger sibling is acting like a child and she needs to grow up and take some responsibility for her actions.

What do you think about this situation?

Is this girl wrong or were her actions justified?

This Dad Gave His Kids a Major Reality Check When It Came to an Inheritance. Was He Wrong?

Sometimes kids need a HUGE reality check. And who better to give it to them than their parents?

And that’s exactly what this father did when he decided to teach his two adult children a lesson about working and making money.

But now he’s having some second thoughts and thinks he might have been too harsh…

Let’s see what he had to say on Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page…

AITA for telling my kids that they aren’t getting a penny from me when I die if they don’t shape up?

“I (57M) have two kids, N(30M) and A(27F). N works part-time flipping burgers, but insists his real job is as a gaming streamer.

A claims she’s a ‘professional’ influencer, her livelihood supported by her bf. My kids are adults, what they do with their lives is their choice. We’ve had several arguments about it, but ultimately, as adults, the responsibility for their lives is their own.

Over Christmas, we were talking about their mother (on zoom) when A brought up the subject of her will, wondering if she’d left anything to them. I confessed that she passed before ever writing one, and the money she did have was used up the year she passed.

We were a dual-income family in a time when neither of us were making a lot. It was a hard time. Eventually, I joined a friend in the private sector and my fortune changed. I’m not ‘rich’, but I’ll never be uncomfortable again.

Well, N then decided to ‘lighten the mood’ by implying that I’ll make up for it when I pass. I asked him what he meant, and the conversation went as followed:

Me: What do you mean?

N: Well, you have a lot of money, right? It’ll go to us.

Me: And who told you that?

A: What do you mean?

Me: I’ve made it very clear that I don’t approve of the way you both live. You both chose not to get an education or real jobs. You have no way of supporting yourself. (I often buy them groceries).

You refuse to help yourselves, so why would I enable your ‘lifestyles’ by leaving you my savings when I die? You want my money, then grow up and get real jobs, but the bank of dad will be forever closed when dad is forever closed.

What followed was a heated argument where both N and A accused me of being manipulative and unsupportive, so I got real with them.

Me: You both refuse to grow up. Flipping burgers is an honourable job, but it’s not going to keep a roof over your head. What if you have kids? What if you get fired? And (A), what will you do if your boyfriend breaks up with you because all you do is sit on your *ss all day and take photos of yourself?

You want to do that, find a modelling agency. A real job. You both speak of chasing your dreams, but neither one of you are in any position to do that because neither of you wants to take responsibility for yourselves right now. I’ve said it a million times. You’re adults.

What you do with your lives is your choice and your responsibility. Dreams take money, and neither of you have that. Grow up. Get a job. A real job. Then chase your dreams. I’m not going to leave a penny to either of you if your life plan is to ‘get by’ until I die, then coast through the rest of your lives off the earnings of my hard work.

N ended the call after a prolonged silence. A called me an AH then did the same. I haven’t heard from either since, and neither will take my calls.

So, AITA here? I think I might be because I was unnecessarily harsh on Christmas.”

Let’s see how folks on Reddit responded…

This person said that this dad is not in the wrong in any way, shape, or form because that money is all his and he earned it.

Another reader said that his kids really need to grow up and get serious because he’s only 57-years-old and has a lot of living left to do.

This Reddit user talked about how this man’s kids are totally unrealistic and he did the right thing by putting them in their place.

A reader said that he can relate to this guy’s situation because his brother is totally irresponsible when it comes to money and work.

Finally, this person said that everyone is to blame in this situation.

And dad should have made his kids realize this is how it was gonna be a looong time ago.

Do you think this dad went overboard in his actions or was he doing the right thing?

A Person Asked if They’re Wrong for Pretending to Get Fired When They Argue With Customers

I guess you might want to cut this youngster some slack because they’re only in high school, but still…I’m not sure about this kind of behavior…

A youngster shared their story on the “Am I the *sshole?” page on Reddit to see if people thought they were out of line when they pull a very specific prank at work.

Here’s what they said.

AITA for pretending to get fired when customers get a temper with me?

“I am a high schooler with a weekend job at a coffee shop. My coworkers who work weekends are:

James – the owners son, he goes to my school. He’s a shift manager but it’s not a real formal thing, he’s a friendly guy.

Danielle – A college student who sometimes works weekends too.

So sometimes customers will come in and just be angry about such little stuff. Like literally blow up about nothing. I dunno if theyre in a bad mood already and looking for someone to take it out on or what, but it’s a lot… Like how sad so your have to be to be a grown-*ss man taking your anger out on high school and college kids.

So James and I were joking about having a little fun with them and hopefully getting them off our backs.

So one day I was at work and some guy was having a temper about how we don’t make the coffee hot enough… Which I couldn’t do a thing about because I gave it to him right out of the machine.

So James came in and was like “sir is there a problem here” and the guy started ranting at him too. So he was just like “OP, this is unacceptable, you’re fired.”

I started acting real sad, like “no please don’t fire me, my family needs the money, I need this job, pleaseeee” and he played up being a hard-*ss, telling me to take off my apron and leave.

The angry guy started to backtrack, like “It isn’t that big of a problem, you don’t need to fire her over it. I didn’t mean it” and James was like “No, we pride ourselves on the best customer service”

Of course after all that drama I still had my job, we were just acting. And we’ve done it a couple times, whenever a customer will lose their temper at Danielle or I, James will storm in and “fire” us. And almost every time, the person who had come in angry will apologise and say that they didn’t mean it. It’s kind of satisfying, making people realize their actions might actually have consequences.

Anyway, I was telling my friends from school about this and a few of them thought it was a mean prank, to let someone go away thinking they’d gotten someone who desperately needs the money fired.

AITA for this joke?”

And folks on Reddit responded.

This person said that the kid is not a jerk for his behavior and that some customers are just plain horrible to deal with.

This person said that yes, the kid is an *sshole, and that so are the rude customers.

Another reader said that they also think everyone involved here are jerks, but they think so because it’s just bad business to let employees act this way and get away with it.

I think I agree with this stance.

Another Reddit user agreed and said that the business is going to suffer in the end for these kinds of actions.

Finally, a reader said that this kind of behavior should not be tolerated by the owners of the business because it just looks really bad all around.

Dealing with occasional bad customers is part of the job, but this is not the way to deal with it.

This Dad Wants to Know if He’s Wrong for Giving His Kid’s Stuffed Animal a Crude Nickname

Dads…sometimes they really put their feet in their mouths when they’re just trying to be funny.

This isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever heard in my life, but I can see how some people would be offended by what this dad did.

And this guy took to Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” forum to ask the fine folks there if he was wrong for using certain language in front of his young son.

Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

AITA for suggesting my 7 y/o name his new stuffed tiger “Tig Bitties”?

“My son won a stuffed tiger at the fair last night and said he had named him “Tig”.

He asked me what its last name should be. I couldn’t help myself and just instantly replied “Bitties”.

Then I turned to my wife to share a smirk, but she was p*ssed and quickly suggested a few different last names, but my son insisted that he liked “Bitties”, so now his Tiger is Tig Bitties.

My wife thinks it was completely inappropriate, I think it was a silly joke that went over his head and will have no negative ramifications.”

And here’s what folks had to say on Reddit in response.

This person thinks the whole thing was blown out of proportion and that people need to chill out.

Another Reddit user agreed and said the whole thing was just a joke.

But another reader thinks that this guy is an *sshole and that the kid is bound to repeat this name in front of other folks.

We all know kids can’t really keep their mouths shut…

This Reddit user is having a hard time making up their mind.

They think the dad was wrong…but they also think the name is pretty funny.

And finally, this person did not think the dad did anything wrong here. So I guess “Tig Bitties” might be here to stay…

A Person Wants to Know if They’re a Jerk for Messing With Their Ex and His Assistant

It kind of blows my mind sometimes when people talk about how much time they have to mess with people…

Why aren’t you people working?!?!

But that’s another story…

This story comes to us from Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page and is pretty interesting…

Let’s take a look at what happened and how people on Reddit responded to this situation.

AITA for screwing with my ex and his assistant?

“My ex’s assistant has disliked me since she started working for him. I have to stay in touch with my ex because we have a 9-month-old together.

His schedule changes a lot so his assistant is supposed to let me know if there’s a change which will mean he can’t use his visitations and if he wants to reschedule the time.

She’s started “accidentally” sending me his personal things. If he’s making dinner arrangements with his current flavour of the week, she “accidentally” sends it to me asking to confirm when it’s meant for someone else. She “accidentally” got two gifts mixed up, so she ended up sending me/our baby lingerie. There have been other things, but you get the idea.

Last Tuesday, she “accidentally” called me whilst my ex was having a pretty sexual conversation with his best friend in which I came up an uncomfortable number of times. It was muffled but I heard way more than I wanted to.

In the past, I would complain to my ex, but he always laughs her mistakes off and promises he’ll have a word with her, but she keeps doing it.

I was supposed to see my ex last Friday, but I was kind of annoyed with him, so I decided to screw with his assistant and him. I called her and told her he couldn’t come on Friday because I had a date. On Friday, I called him when he didn’t show and asked him why he didn’t come.

He ended up coming over later than he was supposed to, and he was sulking the whole time and kept complaining that he thought I was going on a date and he’d need to have a word with his assistant about making mistakes because he had to cancel “important” plans to come over last minute.

I did end up telling him the truth after our son went to sleep and I confronted him about what he said. He denied it but then got angry at me for wasting his time and making him miss time with his son. He said I was being petty over small mistakes.

I told my best friend what I did, and she said I was an AH because his assistant could get fired over this and I shouldn’t have told him about hearing the call.

I do feel kind of bad now but I’m really sick of her making mistakes when it comes to me and getting away with it.

So, [am I the a-hole]?”

Here’s how people responded.

This person said that she is not in the wrong in this situation.

People Talk About What Celebrities They Felt Bad for Who Got Cancelled

Famous people are getting cancelled left and right these days.

Actors, musicians, politicians, no one is safe.

And I’m sure that you know that a ton of them did really horrible things and they deserved to be called out for them.

But did some of them just get caught up in all the “cancel” hoopla?

AskReddit users talked about what cancelled celebrities they actually feel bad for.

1. That’s too bad.

“Brendan Fraser got blacklisted after being molested by a higher up in the movie industry. His wife divorced him, taking his money too.

After all the joy that man has brought us, he got the short sh*t covered side of the stick.”

2. I’m glad he’s back!

“Paul Reubens aka PeeWee Herman.

He had a reputation of being kind of a stuck up asshole when the PeeWee character shot to fame, but not really any better or worse than other famous folks. He got “cancelled” because he was arrested for public indecency.

He was caught masturbating in an adult theater. Aside from the undercover cop who caught him, he was alone, and it was a normal adult p*rnography film. But the industry and media acted like he’d been caught with child p*rn or had r*ped someone.

He’s made a bit of a comeback recently though. I think people finally realized that in the grand scheme of “s*x crimes”, jerking it by yourself in a p*rn theater is nothing at all.

I saw his PeeWee revival on Broadway several years ago and enjoyed it, and I’ve seen him on a lot of the celebrity game shows on TV recently.”

3. Too much pressure.

“Britney Spears when she shaved her head and all that.

I’m no fan of hers but she just seemed like someone who cracked under all the pressure and lost her sh*t. Craig Ferguson did an absolutely amazing job talking about that and relating it to his own life.

Major respect to him for that.”

4. Backlash.

“The Dixie Chicks got their career ended and death threats for saying they didn’t support the war in Iraq.”

5. The Hollywood power machine.

“Megan Fox.

She called out Michael Bay on his s*xist sh*t that’s clear in all his movies but what really got her “cancelled” was that she called him a Nazi.”

6. No big deal.

“Janet Jackson after “Nipplegate.”

I was a kid when it happened so I had no awareness of it but I don’t get how everyone blamed her.

Is there any reason she was at fault instead of Justin Timberlake other than s*xism?”

7. Taking on the Church.

“I’d have to say Sinead O’Connor.

She was absolutely trashed by the media. Written off as a complete nutcase and ruthlessly mocked. All because a bunch of pearl-clutching fools refused to believe the increasingly obvious realities of the Church and decided that the Pope was above criticism.

She was entirely vindicated in the subsequent years (actually, the truth was far worse than even the Church’s worst critics could have imagined), but the legacy of that witch-hunt lives on.

Did SNL, Frank Sinatra, or any of the other f*ckers who were involved ever apologize to her?”

8. A dumb decision.

“I was pretty upset for James Gunn when he got fired from Marvel for things he had said over 10 years ago

But obviously fan outrage over that managed to make Disney realize how stupid their decision was.”

9. Isn’t that ironic?

“Lisa Bonet.

Bill Cosby put a scarlet letter on her after the movie Angel Heart. The convicted rapist thought she “sullied” the image of “The Cosby Show” and “A Different World” and this affected her career going forward.

Not saying she was an Oscar contender, but I remember being upset about how mysogynistic the whole thing was”

10. Don’t hear much from him anymore.

“Al Franken.

He was both my Senator and my favorite politician.

He would have made a great president.”

11. People got offended.

“Liam Neeson.

He was having a frank and honest conversation about his past feelings and emotions around a sensitive topic from his past.

In the interview he is clear that he knows what he said and felt is wrong yet what’s the point in trying to justify it when the sound bite has already been provided.”

12. That was a weird one.

“Michael Richards.

I don’t feel bad he got cancelled. I just felt bad when he tried to apologise on Letterman and the audience was laughing and thinking it was a joke just because it was “Kramer”.

Seinfeld was a good friend and he told the audience this wasn’t a laughing matter.”

13. Thoughts on this one?

“Aziz Ansari definitely didn’t deserve the public shaming he received for what amounted to an awkward, bad date.”

How about you?

Do you think there are some celebrities who got unfairly cancelled?

People Discussed Their Creepiest Travel Stories

You never know what you’re gonna into out there when you travel in a foreign country…or your own country, for that matter.

There are all kinds of weirdos, creeps, and criminals you might encounter…so you best be on high alert.

AskReddit users talked about their scariest travel stories.

Let’s take a look.

1. Alone in India.

“In 2007 I went to India by myself, I was going to a friends wedding but first I decided to have some time in Delhi.

I was staying at a guest house that was attached to one of the embassies, I think it was the Andaman Islands consulate (edit: I can’t remember which one it was, it was arranged by someone else. It was 14 years ago). My friend’s dad worked in immigration so had arranged the room for me.

When I checked into my room late at night the bathroom window was open and they were muddy footprints going from the window onto the toilet and into the room. I immediately checked the room for any people but it was empty.

As a woman travelling by myself it was quite frightening.”

2. Keep driving!

“Driving up through the Arco Desert in iIaho and saw a guy pushing an empty baby stroller along the highway. no cars or stops for miles in either direction.”

3. Got any cat?

“I had just hiked all day in Arches NP in Utah. I decided not to camp that night as a thunderstorm was moving in. Upon reaching the hostel I was informed that their rooms were booked for the night so I bought a tent pass and decided to sleep in my car.

I was extremely sunburnt from the days hiking and striped down to my underwear. The car windows were partially left open to have some air circulation. Around 3am I heard someone outside the car talking, a few seconds later a man stuck his face in my window and exclaimed, “got any cat?!”

Half naked I arose like a cobra with my fist cocked. This old man again asked if I had any cat, I really don’t remember what I said or did I just remember yelling at him. I tried to fall back asleep to no avail.

Eventually I decided to drive off into the night to my next destination, Monument Valley, and witnessed one of the most surreal sunrises of my life.”

4. Beware of dogs.

“When I was in a coastal town in Colombia last year, I was cornered by a pack of domesticated dogs.

I was walking back to my hostel on the main strip of shops after dark and noticed a pack of dogs waiting outside a store. The store happened to be the last business on the main strip and also the last source of light between it and my hostel up the road.

As I passed the store, a man inside noticed me and signaled to his dogs to follow me. At first it was cute, but it turned scary when I tried to turn down my street and was snarled and barked at. The dogs cornered me between the road and a house, barking and jumping on me.

Flustered, I eventually pushed through the pack to get up the road, but continued being swarmed. I kept swatting and yelling at the dogs until I just a couple houses down from my hostel and the man whistled to recall his dogs.

The family that ran the hostel came outside when they heard all the noise and asked me if I was alright. Turns out this wasn’t a one-off thing; a local misogynist has literally trained his dogs to scare and trap women.

I shudder to think what would have happened if I didn’t shuffle up the street when I did or if the family hadn’t appeared in the street before the man caught up with me.”

5. Twilight zone.

“I spent a night at a hotel in Naples, Italy. It was the end of a long trip abroad & I was tight on cash so I booked a super cheap room at a surprisingly nice looking hotel near the airport.

My taxi driver laughed when I told him the name of the hotel & proceeded to tell me it was a refurbished hotel for “ladies of the night” basically a hotel for prostitutes. I didn’t see any other guests & every single staff member knew my room number off the top of their heads. It was a terrified sleepless night, filled with weird sounds. In the morning they had set up enough breakfast for 30 people, but there was not a soul in sight.

I’ve never been one to spook easily but something just felt WRONG about that place. I felt like I was on an episode of The Twilight Zone.”

6. That is messed up.

“Fell asleep on a cross-Atlantic flight.

Window seat, split from my parents cuz f*ck United. Woke up to the guy next to me sticking his hands down my pants.

I was in middle school at the time.”

7. Drugged.

“Drugged and assaulted while travelling in Croatia.

Was travelling solo, and had befriended another female traveller. In Split, met a guy who joined us for dinner, and at some point I blacked out (I am not a drinker, but was drinking a single glass of wine). Pretty sure I was roofied, and I woke up at his home.

To be frank, I’ve mostly blocked out what little I can remember. That was the beginning of a year long trip that took me across Europe and Asia, where I slept on park benches in Turkish bus stations and alone in huts in Thailand and that was the only incident. Stopped drinking any alcohol, point blank for the rest of the trip though.”

8. That is scary.

“Riding my motorbike cross state, 2:30 am no lights no moon just my headlamps and the thump of the engine, and miles of dark endless fields on either side, I am almost floating on a boat of light in the darkness, heck if you lost concentration it became hard to balance, it was that dark.

All of a sudden the road infront of me is covered in slick blood, like covered, almost as if someone deliberately painted it red, blood red. I had to slow down as my tires began to loose traction a little, and stopped looked around found nothing, nada, no herd of deers massacred, no accident signs, no broken glass, no bodies, just the irony bloody smell and the eery quiet all around.

I noped the heck outta there, and I believe set some kind of speed record that night, still to this day I have no idea what happened there.”

9. At the pub.

“I was in London for 6 days on a stop-over on my way back to Canada from 6 weeks in South Africa. I’d been working in South Africa, very long but rewarding days, so the London stop was touristy and lazy, just a nice reset before I got back home to Canada.

There was a pub a block or two from the hostel I was staying in that I ate at every night. It was cheap, cozy, and never too crowded so I’d bring a book, order a pint and eat supper. I had chatted with the waitress a couple nights in a row, she was very kind, my age, and we exchanged a few stories and she knew from chatting that I was travelling alone, and staying in a hostel nearby.

Well on day 4 I followed my usual route from hostel to pub and greeted the waitress. She said “hello” and quickly brought over a drink menu. Not 30 seconds after I’d sat down, a man walked in and sat a few tables away. She motioned to him and mumbled “do you know him?”. I kind of laughed and said, definitely not, I don’t know anyone in London.

She nodded, and positioned herself between myself and the man and said quietly “he got off a bench and followed you from the street over, I don’t like the look of him and I just thought I’d ask. Might be nothing, but thought I’d mention it.” I thanked her and said I’m sure it’s coincidence, she shrugged and took my order, and the evening proceeded as usual. The man also ordered a drink but no food.

I stayed for over 2 hours, reading, eating and drinking. The pub was quiet, a few other people or groups came and went, but the man stayed. He drank the one pint and refused top ups. The waitress kept a close eye on him, and me, and stopped over to chat several times between refills but didn’t bring him up again.

When I was finishing my last drink and preparing to leave I glanced over at him and noticed he looked on the edge of his seat, like he was preparing to leave too. I hadn’t really thought much of it til then, but my stomach suddenly knotted up. It was dark, it was drizzly, and I had a short, but lonesome, walk back to my hostel.

I suddenly felt distinctly unsafe. I summoned the waitress over to pay and asked her if she’d mind calling me a taxi as well. She nodded vigorously and I knew she thought this was a good idea.

The taxi showed up, I thanked the waitress and left. I hopped in the taxi and I swear that old man thought I was so dumb for needing a drive for such a short distance but whatever. I felt so much safer. I went back the next evening as it would be my last night in London and I wanted to say goodbye, and thank the waitress for her hospitality, friendship and ultimately looking out for me.

When I arrived she ran over and said she was so glad I’d called the cab. I guess right after I left the man left too, seeming really agitated. He’d not even asked for a bill, just left money on the table and stormed out. She felt very confident he’d seen me walking alone, followed me in and was planning to “approach” me when I left. What would have happened then neither her nor I really wanted to think about.

I had a lovely last night at the pub and we even shared some small glasses of wine together for a quick cheers before I left. I don’t walk places alone at night anymore, even if it’s just a short distance.”

10. In the woods.

“I was camping with a friend (a male friend, and I’m a chick) and I went to find firewood while he set up camp. I found a place where you can rent cabins and I found a worker outside chopping wood.

I asked him how much for a bucket of wood and he sold it to me. He also invited me and my friend to a concert this cabin place was hosting. He was friendly but a bit…weird and reeeaallly chatty. He asked if we were camped up by the river and I said, no we’re by the bridge. As soon as it came out of my mouth I knew I shouldn’t have said it. I headed back to camp, told my friend what happened, and went to the woods to pee.

While peeing, I heard a truck pull up to our campsite and I headed out to see what was going on.

This man had 100% COME TO FIND ME AND MY FRIEND, he was asking about me. I’m sure he had assumed he was going to find 2 young women alone at their campsite, not a dude. He had unchopped wood in his truck, and an axe, and he pretended he came to give me more wood. So he started chopping up wood beside our camp with his axe.

I politely said thanks and whatnot and managed to get him to leave. I hugged my friend so f*cking hard. That man was not expecting me to be with a male friend, and I shudder to think what could’ve happened if I had been alone or with a girl friend. He literally had brought an axe with him. I guess he could’ve been genuinely being kind, but that’s not what my gut was telling me.

Lesson learned folks. Don’t let dumb sh*t slip out!!!”

11. What happened?

“I went to a big city in Colombia (I’m a man from USA) and the hostel had a rooftop hangout spot.

People left one by one until it was just me and a girl from Europe. It was around 10:30 pm when i last remember checking. She was quite friendly, and the conversation was very surface level casual – asking about the best restaurants in town, or something.

Now I was not drunk or doing drugs, I only had two Aguila lite beers (they’re less than 3% ABV) in 2.5 hours, but the next thing I remember from the night was waking up in the early morning hours in a hotel hallway bathroom shower with a jacket on now, but no undershirt. The lights were completely out and I struggled to gather my senses as I crawled around utterly confused in pitch blackness until I felt a toilet and realized I was in a bathroom.

It was my jacket by the way, but it was previously in a suitcase in my room.

I then went back to my room, shared with 3 other people by creaky wood bunk beds, to sleep more after that. The next day when I asked, nobody noticed anything strange about my night; they all slept soundly the whole night… which is also strange given I apparently came in “inebriated” to some degree, got a jacket out of a suitcase on the top bunk, left, then came back. I found my shirt outside my door the next day when I woke up.

I honestly didn’t bring it up to the girl ever, because I truly don’t believe she was the cause of anything. We both saw each other plenty after that around the hostel for another week. She was genuinely a kind person.

I didn’t feel physically hurt whatsoever, and nothing of mine was stolen (and I had a smartphone and about $150 cash in my pocket). I never got an explanation for this night. I have never been aware of a sleepwalking habit.”

12. Scary.

“I’m American, and lived in Malaysia for several years towards the tail end of high school.

I traveled to Vietnam with my sister and father. One of the places we visited was an area of concentrated tunnels upkept from the Vietnam war era. We had the option of touring some of the tunnels, and jumped at the chance. We started out in a small room with holes at eye level that just cleared the earth’s surface. Perfect for shooting at the feet of the enemy.

We were then led down a tunnel that required us to stoop, seeing as we were significantly taller than our vietnamese guide. We came to another small room. Our guide told us that one tunnel led up and out, the other led to what was once a weapon cache. My sister and I really wanted to see that room, but my dad had enough and asked to be led out.

To this day I have no idea what my thought process was, but I decided to lead my sister to the next room. I might have been under the impression that there was a second guide there, waiting for us?

Unsurprisingly, it got dark. The guide had the flashlight, and the hanging lamp from the previous room got harder to see by. I kept thinking “it has to be just a few feet further.” Instead, the tunnel got shorter and shorter, until we were basically crawling forwards in the dark, single file.

I remember looking back, and realizing the tunnel must have curved or something because the lamp light was gone. There wasn’t enough space to turn around, so I kept going. I felt horrible, like I had just condemned my sister and I to dying in the dark, crushed by the ever shrinking tunnel.

Eventually the floor in front of me ended. Thinking back, we had probably reached the weapon cache room and only needed to drop a couple of feet to stand, but in the dark I only felt empty air in front of me. I’m pretty sure that moment is the moment I developed a fear of really wide open spaces, because to this day I can imagine some giant maw inches from my flailing arm looking for purchase.

I told my sister we’d have to crawl backwards, and godd*mn if that middle schooler wasn’t an absolute trooper about the whole thing. Unfortunately we must have taken a turn without realizing it, because we started down there blind, lost, crawling in the dirt for what I would later learn was about an hour.

The guide eventually found us, and I’ve never been happier to see a flashlight.”
