Well, it’s coming back in October 2020!

That’s right, Hasbro announced that the nostalgic board game that was originally released in 1988 as a tribute to the mall and consumer culture is coming back later this year.

The game will be very similar to the old versions of the game. The game will have 22 stores, fake ATM cards, and an electronic guide that tells players where they can catch all the hot sales.

OMG! I can’t wait!!!!

Players will get to choose from the characters Gwen, Sage, Avery, or Dax as they make their way through the mall bonanza.

The new version of the game launched at the International Toy Fair last month.

Hasbro’s VP of Global Brand Strategy & Marketing, Julien McCluney, said,

“The fact that so many adults reminisce about the original [game] more than 30 years after its initial release speaks volumes to its place in pop culture!”

In the pictures online, it appeared that Pearl was wearing a veil of some sort. But no, that was her creepy and weird skin. When Pearl arrives, I am thrilled! I show her to several teenaged students who react to her face in sheer horror. I ignore this reaction, knowing that Ellie will love Pearl.

Part II (Christmas Morning)- Ellie wakes up and excitedly runs to the tree to find Pearl. The video is attached so you can see the real-time reaction. Basically, she was like, “OMG, this doll is hideous. What is wrong with you, Santa??”

The singer from Wales who is best known for her hit song “Mercy” has been out of the spotlight for years divulged that she was drugged, raped, and held captive and that it has been a very long recovery to try to find her voice again.

Here is Duffy’s incredibly brave and frightening post in her own words.

“You can only imagine the amount of times I thought about writing this. The way I would write it, how I would feel thereafter. Well, not entirely sure why now is the right time, and what it is that feels exciting and liberating for me to talk. I cannot explain it.

Many of you wonder what happened to me, where did I disappear to and why. A journalist contacted me, he found a way to reach me and I told him everything this past summer. He was kind and it felt so amazing to finally speak. The truth is, and please trust me I am ok and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days.

Of course I survived.

The recovery took time. There’s no light way to say it. But I can tell you in the last decade, the thousands and thousands of days I committed to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun does now shine. A particle accelerator, just so we’re all on the same page, is a machine that propels charged particles at nearly light speed. It was invented in the 1930s and has been used to encourage discoveries in particle physics like the Higgs boson.

What happens if you propel charged particles at light speed through your head? Just as Anatoli Bugorski, the man who (admittedly) accidentally found out.

In the 1970s, Bugorski was a scientist and researcher at Russia’s Institute for High Energy Physics. As part of his job, he worked with the particle accelerator known as Synchrotron U-70, and one day, it appeared to be malfunctioning. He stuck his head in to have a look when the safety mechanism snapped at an incredibly inopportune moment, and the machine shot a proton beam straight through his head.

Bugorski reported no pain but a flash of light “brighter than a thousand sun” as the beam entered through the back of his head and exited through his nose. He was rushed to the hospital after the left side of his face swelled up like a balloon to be treated (and studied) until his assumed imminent demise.

Bugorski was working as a researcher at the Institute for High Energy Physics in Protvino in 1978. At the time, he was working with the the largest Soviet particle accelerator at that time, the U-70 synchrotron. He was checking a malfunctioning piece of equipment when safety protocols failed, and he managed to accidentally stick his head in the path of the proton beam. According to his own report, he felt no pain but saw a flash brighter than a thousand suns. After the accident, the left half of his face swelled up and the skin began to peel. Having received a huge dose of radiation, he was not expected to survive. However, he made a full recovery and even completed his PhD. He is still alive today, and the only long term side effects seem to be deafness in his left ear, increased fatigue, occasional complex partial seizures and rare tonic-clonic seizures. #scientist #AnatoliBugorski #proton #beam #particle #accelerator #ParticleAccelerator #ProtonBeam

Doctors expected the worst, considering Bugorski’s skull had absorbed 2000x more radiation than it would typically take to kill a person within a few days, but since no one had ever been hit with a proton beam moving at the speed of light, they honestly had no idea what was going to happen.

Bugorski, amazingly, was still alive at last check and is nearing 77 years of age, though he didn’t escape his unintentional battle with proton beams unscathed.

It burned a path through his skull and brain tissue that resulted in skin peeling, he lost the hearing in his left ear and suffered from tinnitus throughout his life.

The left side of his face also gradually became paralyzed, oddly frozen in time, and he suffered from seizures over the years. Not ideal, but considering what could have happened all those years ago, he might actually be one lucky man.

Bugorski completed his doctorate after the incident and presumably always remembered to unplug heavy machinery before sticking any part of his body inside to explore.
