A Woman Kicked out Her Pregnant Sister-In-Law for a Terrible Comment About Her Miscarriage

If you’ve never spent any time on Reddit’s “Am I The Asshole?” threads before, they are very interesting and they shed a lot of light on family dynamics.

The subject of this AITA post was very serious. A woman found out about her miscarriage just before she hosted her brother and sister-in-law for a visit. The woman was obviously very emotional and things spiraled out of control during the visit.

Here’s the post from Reddit’s AITA:

“My brother (29M) and sister-in-law (SIL) (29F) asked Wednesday if they could come for a visit at that weekend. (They 6h away). We said sure, love to see you.

Friday afternoon, I (34F) had an ultrasound for my 8 week pregnancy. The ultrasound showed a likely miscarriage.

My husband (35M) & I were upset, but as my bro & SIL were already driving, we didn’t cancel the visit. We hadn’t told them about the pregnancy, nor had we told our 3 kids.

When bro & SIL arrive they were excited to tell us SIL is pregnant, and due 2 weeks before I would have been due. I tried to sound excited and happy for them but I wasn’t as excited as I normally would have been. Then it turned into a nightmare.

She didn’t like supper; so we ordered in food for her. She needed the bed moved from 1 wall to another. Fine. She insisted on 5 pillows to sleep. I found a couple & she was upset I couldn’t give her more & asked if she could go into the kids rooms and take theirs. I said no.

Next morning, she freaked out at 7 am that the kids were eating cereal too loud. She spent the morning curled up on the couch complaining about morning sickness. I sympathized and said it’s awful, but it will go away. She screamed “No, you’ve never experienced this- they gave me the same anti-nauseau drugs they give chemo patients so shut up!” I got quiet.

My husband was making brunch and she freaked out that he was going to cook bacon because “the smell makes me vomit.” We didn’t make bacon. She also didn’t want us to make eggs or let the kids have syrup on their pancakes. I refused, so she stormed off into her room until mid- afternoon.

Midafternoon she decides to go shopping and said they’d be back for dinner. We said dinner would be at 5:30. At 5:45 they hadn’t show up, and weren’t replying to texts, so we ate. They showed up at 6 and she freaked out that we hadn’t waited so we ordered pizza.

She spent the next two hours complaining about how brutal pregnancy is and how it sucks so much and how she’s never going through it again. I lost it & told her that I was in the middle of a miscarriage and I’d love to have her problems because it means my baby would be ok.

Everything got quiet and she looked at me and said “I can’t believe you’d use the “M” (miscarriage) word around me.

That’s bad luck, and if I lose the baby it’s your fault!” and went to her room and slammed the door.

AITA for kicking my pregnant sister-in-law out? from AmItheAsshole

I think I know where I stand on this one. And I can’t believe the sister-in-law had the nerve to say an awful thing like that.

What do you think? Who was out of line in this situation?

A Woman Was Stealing Her Co-Worker’s Snacks, and Then Came the Revenge Note

If you work in an office, DO NOT mess with other people’s food. If you do, you’ll eventually be found out, humiliated, and then put on blast. Just like this person did.

You’d think people might know better, but I guess not…

There are just certain things you don’t do in an office, and stealing from others is definitely at the top of that list.

Let’s take a look at this story of loss and revenge from Reddit.

“A woman at work was stealing from my snack drawer.

I knew exactly who it was, she was the only one who had seen where I put them. This woman was a pain: opinionated, gossipy, lazy, and just all around drama (I’ll call her Karen). I knew if I approached her, she’d deny it, get all butt hurt and make a scene. So I let it go.

One morning I took a personal call and was away from my desk for about 30 minutes. When I returned a new package of cookies I had brought that morning had been opened and was 4 light.

Snack drawer

She must have watched me leave and came by while I was outside. Until now she’d just taken a few out of what was already open but she’d graduated to opening boxes.

THE BALLS!!!

I took a sheet of white paper and wrote in big black sharpie letters:

Here’s the rest of the story…

A woman at work was stealing from my snack drawer. from pettyrevenge

You should’ve stayed out of that snack drawer, KAREN!

Maybe that note was a little harsh, but to each their own, I guess…

Has this ever happened to you at work? It’s infuriating, isn’t it?!?! Share your tales from the workplace in the comments.

Let’s see who has the worst one!

15 Places Where Kids Can Eat For Free

You never realize how true the phrase “every little bit helps” is until you have children – and spending $4 for a plate of food your child is probably going to turn their nose up at before tossing it on the floor, well. It’s not the best part of being a parent.

We do still enjoy not having to cook once in a while, and going out to eat also means we don’t have to clean. If you’re having a day (or week) when those two things sound really good, here are 15 restaurants where kids eat free.

15. Chili’s

Kid’s meals are always free, but make sure to check with your location to verify.

That is… if this is somewhere you don’t mind taking your kids.

13. Marie Calendar’s Restaurant and Bakery

12. Qdoba

If you order an adult entree on Wednesday or Sunday, you’ll get a free kid’s meal.

11. Red Robin

You’ll want to check with your nearest location, but many offer “kids eat free” deals on different nights of the week, and often discounted meals at other times.

10. Applebee’s

The day of the week and hours could change based on where you live, so check ahead, but their menu is full of kid-approved classics that will hit the mark.

9. Denny’s

Kids eat free when adults order an entree, but it is limited to two free meals per adult.

Head here on Tuesdays after 4 p.m., when your kid under 12 eats for free as long as you order an adult entree.

4. Dickey’s BBQ Pit

On Sundays, kids under 12 eat free with any party that spends at least $10.

3. Johnny Rockets

This old fashioned diner offers free kids meals on Tuesdays from 4-8pm with the purchase of an adult meal and a drink.

2. Moe’s

Kids eat free on Tuesdays at participating locations, and they include a drink and a cookie!

1. Uno’s

Tuesdays are free kid’s meals day here, too, so hopefully your kid is more adventurous than mine (even when it comes to pizza).

I’m definitely keeping this list in my back pocket! My kids are fairly good at eating out, but having an iPhone to hand them after they’ve finished eating (in 5 minutes) and you haven’t is a lifesaver.

People Open up About the Quotes That Are Near and Dear to Their Hearts

Sometimes, you hear or read words that make so much sense to you, they get stuck in your head forever. And some even change your outlook on life and the way you live it.

Do you have quotes like this that you remember?

Here is what 25 AskReddit users had to say.

1. You have to figure it out.

“I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you.”

2. Never a good thing.

“Beware of the man who will not be bothered with details” – William Feather

3. Dumb luck.

“Love is not about grand gestures, or the moon and the stars. It’s just dumb luck. Sometimes you find someone who feels the same way for you and sometimes you’re just unlucky.”

4. Don’t do that to yourself.

“If you stress too much about something before it happens, you basically put yourself through it twice.”

5. Keep it simple.

“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” Albert Einstein

6. Ha! This is pretty good.

“Y’all don’t know what you’re capable of! You’re not gonna die out here! And if you do die, there was probably something wrong with you already!” -My football coach

7. A classic.

“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

8. Think about that one.

“Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.”

– Henry Ford

9. He was the best.

“I never fucked a ten. But one night, I fucked five twos, and I think that should count.”

-George Carlin

14. Amen to this.

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”

I think more people in the U.S. need to understand this concept. Not everything has to be radicalized into one position and forbidden to ever question an ideology.

15. Live by this!

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

-A.A.Milne

16. Never stop.

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.”

17. Dogs are wonderful.

“The more I see of man, the more I like dogs”

~Theodore Roosevelt

19. I love this one.

“You can’t judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree.”
-Albert Einstein

20. From The Outsiders

“Stay gold Ponyboy, stay gold.”

21. Think about who comes next.

“A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in.”

22. This is perfect.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why they call it the present.” -Master Oogway

23. Very true.

“People who talk about their integrity have none.”

24. You’ll always be there.

“Wherever you go, there you are”

Meaning that if you think you will change when “something” happens, i.e a new job, a new house, a new significant other, losing weight, whatever problems are due to you will still be there.

25. One final thought.

“Don’t look back. You’re not going that way”

— Mary Engelbreit

Those were so good, I even wrote some of them down!

This Guy Caused a Fake Traffic Jam on Google Maps With a Wagon Full of iPhones

We rely on our iPhones for so many things in our daily lives, but one performance artist in Berlin, Germany decided to use our beloved devices for evil. Or for funny, depending on who you talk to.

Simon Weckert wheeled a red wagon full of 99 iPhones around the streets of Berlin in order to create a fake traffic jam. Like I said, evil or funny depending on who got caught up in the traffic jam.

In his official artist statement about the project, Weckert said, “what is the relationship between the art of enabling and techniques of supervision, control, and regulation in Google’s maps? Do these maps function as dispositive nets that determine the behavior, opinions, and images of living beings, exercising power and controlling knowledge?”

Google Maps works by continuously pinging smartphones that are using location services, so you know this caused quite an uproar to that app when Weckert showed up with his red wagon.

The folks at Google Maps said they appreciated Weckert’s prank because it alerts them to more hacks and will help them make their app more efficient.

Weckert said his project was meant to “draw attention to the blind trust that many people have in tech companies and platforms.”

Watch the video below to see how Simon Weckert pulled off this little bit of mischief!

You have to admit that this prank is pretty funny! We sure think so!

Girl Scouts Set up a Stall Outside a Chicago Weed Dispensary and Sold a Whole Lot of Cookies

Do you want to know what two of the greatest things in the world are?

Smoking weed and eating Girl Scout cookies!

Some young Girl Scouts in Chicago put two and two together and decided to set up a stall selling their delicious treats outside a weed dispensary. Marijuana became legal on January 1 and, of course, it’s a game-changer for a lot of residents there. Dispensary 33 in Chicago shared this tweet to let their customers know what was up.

Dispensary 33 also sells a strain of weed called “Girl Scout Cookie”, so this was obviously a perfect combination from the start.

And the Girl Scouts who set up shop there ended up selling “several hundred boxes” of cookies.

The people at Dispensary 33 agreed it was a good day as well. They said, “The response was incredibly positive. People were so excited… our customers loved it, our staff loved it. I encourage other troops to reach out and sell some cookies – I’m sure they’d have some good numbers.”

These kids today, huh…?

I think we have some successful future businesswomen on our hands here…

A Mom Clapped Back at a Stranger Who Told Her to Get off Her Phone While Shopping With Her Kids

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this life, it’s that you never, ever tell other people how to raise or discipline their kids. If you do, expect a huge backlash and a dressing-down that would make someone in the military shudder.

Bottom line: it’s none of your business what other people do with their kids.

A mom was in line at Costco with her two toddlers when a man (a stranger, mind you) told her to get off of her phone. He said her kids were being fussy because they wanted her attention. And the story went from there…

"To the man at Costco today who glanced over at me on my phone while my babies were fussing and felt the need to say,…

“To the man at Costco today who glanced over at me on my phone while my babies were fussing and felt the need to say, “You see these babies? They fuss like that because they want your attention. Maybe you should get off of your phone and give them your attention.”

First of all, I had no idea the toddler saying, “Mama, pizza, mama, pizza” over and over and the baby making pre-cry warnings to alert me that if we don’t move soon he’s gong to lose it wanted my attention. Thank you for that brilliant analysis of the situation.

Secondly, I had been in the Membership line for 15 minutes already. I pulled out books, snacks, patty cake, and even took to creepily pointing out items in buggies as customers left the store to entertain them.

Thirdly, you had been in the Refunds line next to me for a total of two minutes or else you would have seen the smiles and laughs and interaction.”

Take a Look at When John Boyega Surprised His Parents With a New House

John Boyega has become a household name thanks to his role as Finn in the last three Star Wars films, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

And speaking of houses, Boyega endeared himself to his fans even more when he bought his parents a house in London, England, with the money he made from starring in The Force Awakens.

The film star said of the purchase, “You know, I also think that’s giving back to my king and my queen. So that’s what I did.”

The day he surprised his parents with their new house, Boyega had them come to the house and they thought they were going to be interviewed.

Boyega said to his parents, “On behalf of myself I’d like to say thank you for everything that you’ve done and I decided to do a secret project for a few months, and I’m here to tell you that there was no interview, that was a lie, this is your house that I am presenting to you, this is your new house, it belongs to you.”

It didn’t seem to register with his parents that the house was theirs. Boyega added, “I just thought it’s best that you live in an environment and place where you’re happy and you have space and privacy.”

It was then that Boyega’s father seemed to realize what his son was talking about, and he started to cry.

Boyega then said, “This is just my physical appreciation, honestly from the bottom of my heart, thank you so so much for everything you have done.”

Here’s a sweet video of Boyega surprising his parents with their very own house that he bought for them in London, England.

People on social media were moved by Boyega’s generosity.

For all those ethnic kids out there!

“Are you sure John?”

We’d all do this for our parents if we could…

So many tears!!

Pure legend.

That is a really beautiful video and story! What a great guy!

Do you have a story like this? We know it’s unlikely, but we’ll never know unless we ask!

People Thank a Mom for Her Post About Keeping Sick Kid Home Until He’s Healthy

With all the coronavirus news and how bad the flu has been in recent years, this woman’s post is more timely than ever.

A mom named Samantha Moriá Reynolds wrote a post on Facebook about the importance of keeping sick kids home until they’re healthy enough to go back to school and moms all over the place are feeling it.

tege-sick

Reynolds wrote:

“This morning, Sam woke up and noticed her son wasn’t feeling well.

Sam took her son’s temperature, and wow! A fever.

Sam gave her son Tylenol and then…

Sam did NOT send her son to school.

Even after the fever went down a couple hours later, Sam did NOT send her son to school.

Sam missed work knowing that the well-being of her son and the kids who attend his school is more important than work missed.

Sam’s son was invited to THREE birthday parties over the weekend.

Sam’s son has been so excited to go, but he will unfortunately also have to miss them because Sam’s son is SICK.

Sam knows passing along a sickness would not be a great birthday gift regardless of how bummed her son may be.

Sam knows her son is still contagious until he is fever-free, WITHOUT medication, for 24 hours.

If Sam’s son is running a fever at 7am on Sunday, Sam’s son will also not be attending school on Monday.
