A Mom Was Charged With a Felony After Recording Daughter Licking Medical Supplies

A Florida mom has been charged with a felony after posting a video of her daughter licking a tongue depressor and then putting it back into the jar at the doctor’s office. Apparently, nobody learned anything useful from 2019’s ice cream challenge.

Corey Ward, 30, posted the video to her Snapchat with the caption “Don’t tell me how to live my life.”

After receiving backlash for obvious reasons, Ward tried to defend herself by explaining the difference between her daughter’s actions and the ice cream challenge. She claims that the contaminated items were thrown away after the video.

“The video doesn’t show that the items were thrown away or anything else that happened.

I posted this on my personal Snapchat with my 20-something friends, where someone allowed another person to video it.

I didn’t post it on Facebook or YouTube as a challenge or whatever.”

Ward is now facing a felony charge for tampering with a consumer product without regard for possible death or bodily injury.

If convicted, she could face up to 30 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The ice cream challenge went viral in 2019. Multiple people were arrested for attempting the challenge, including the originator, a teenage girl from Texas.

The original video showed her licking a container of Blue Bell’s Tin Roof ice cream and then putting it back into the freezer at Walmart.

So yeah, maybe not ever do anything like that? It clearly will get you in trouble… and make all your friends think you’re super gross.

Worth it? Nope!

A Cat Pulled Off a Hilarious Photobomb of News Report About Cougar Sighting

Regular old house cats have a lot in common with their wildcat cousins. Similar to lions, tigers, jaguars, and other big cats, house cats like to sleep a lot, rub against things, and scratch with their claws. Still, it’s not exactly hard to spot the differences between a big cat and a house cat — which is why one news reporter’s video about a local cougar has been going viral for years.

“I’m Scott Madaus, live in Hernando, Mississippi where there have been spottings of a cougar.”

At that exact moment, the camera panned to a normal house cat just chilling in the background.

You can’t make this stuff up…

The cat that stole the show. Not really sure how my live tease made social media let alone international social media. But here you go if you didn't catch it.

Posted by Scott Madaus on Friday, October 13, 2017

The reporter then stated the obvious…

“That’s not it, that looks like a house cat.”

Yep, just a normal kitty sitting pretty in the middle of the broadcast with that nonchalant “I could give AF what you think about me” look that cats are so great at.

The camera hilariously remains on the cat for the rest of the clip, resulting in a shot where the cat is sitting right on top of the caption “LARGE CAT SPOTTED.”

Knowing cats, this clip somehow isn’t surprising at all.

Gotta love ’em!

Twitter Users Discuss Why ‘South Park’ May Have Caused Massive Cultural Damage

South Park is no stranger to public scrutiny and criticism. Sift through the internet and you’ll see many think pieces, essays, and rebukes against the show.

Author Dana Schwartz is one of the many people who has recently voiced her opinion on South Park’s cultural impact—and the damage the show has caused.

That’s true. The show is well-known for mocking almost everyone: world leaders, minorities, the people who oppress minorities, celebrities, and cultural fads.

Here is yet another point the author makes:

But Schwartz also tries to give South Park credit for its recent apology.

The show also had to apologize to China for how it was portrayed. But Schwartz also tried to respect the fact that some of the show’s damage is also on the fans themselves. She’s right in pointing out that TV has a big influence on people, but audiences do choose what they take seriously and internalize.

The author then went on to clarify her position to both people who wanted to have a real discussion, and the many trolls that descended onto her timeline.

Schwartz also criticized the show for making it popular to “do nothing” about the world’s potential problems—and be smug about it.

And though there were many trolls who were angry at Schwartz, others provided some insight.

Another Twitter user shared his point of view as well.

Schwartz definitely made some good points about South Park and its fans. Even if you disagree with it, dissecting a show’s influence on popular culture always makes for an interesting debate.

Where do you stand? Did South Park influence boys (and some girls) negatively or it just a satire?

We’ll happily entertain your opinion in the comments section.

The Princess Bride is Going to Be a Children’s Book

It’s hard to believe that some people have never seen The Princess Bride. A whimsical fairytale of love between Wesley and Buttercup. Truly a perfect story for kids and parents to curl up and watch together. This September marks the 33rd anniversary of the movie and for long-time fans, you can pass on the love to your kids through The Princess Bride: Counting Book.

This October, this children’s book revives this cult classic through cute illustrations of “heroes, giants, wizards, and love.” A true marriage of all the things we loved as kids.

After all, the clergyman said, “Mawwage. Mawwage is what bwings us together today.”

Wondering if your favorites from the movie made the book? Glad you asked!

The publishers said,

“There are 6 fingers on the Count’s right hand, 3 outlaws on a mission, 2 destined lovers, and 1 unforgettable story that brings them all together.”

How fun!

And the best part of bringing this back in a board book, is that parents can read along with their kiddos rather than setting them in front of a device or TV screen.

And honestly with all the Hollywood reboots like Star Wars and other shows streaming on Disney Plus, this will bring back the intimacy in families. Kind of like “the grandfather” reading the book to “the grandson” in the movie!

This book has it all as the author and publisher, Lena Wolfe partnered with Bill Robinson for illustrations. And it makes sense Robinson drew the colorful pictures!

He has not only drawn 15 children’s books but “is currently a character designer at DreamWorks Animation and his previous clients include Disney, Sony, Warner Bros, Reel FX, Nickelodeon, and HBO.”

If you are already squealing to get your hands on this book, it’s not out until October 8th. Booooooo.

But, no worries because you can preorder it on Amazon so you won’t miss out.

Are you going to get one of these when it comes out? Let us know in the comments!

The Ultimate Bridezilla Made Her Guests Cover Tattoos and Dye Their Hair

A wedding day is based on love. A special time to join families and two people on their happily ever after.

Except when it’s not. There are copious amounts of stories about how some brides take “their day” to the ultimate extreme. But this story takes the cake!

A wedding guest (a close friend of the groom) posted her bridezilla attack in a Facebook wedding shaming group. And it went viral! The bride (who remains anonymous) asked her to cover her tattoos and and dye her hair because they “clash with the wedding theme”. Give me a break, right?

The guest writes:

“Shaming this bride to be. I have worked really hard to get along with this girl. I was originally friends with her fiancé & when she and him got together my partner and I were not fans of her. But she is usually pretty sweet and makes him super happy so we made an effort to like her & become good friends. She has been kind of challenging at times but mostly we’ve gotten along.

They’re getting married in December and she’s just texted me this. I have tattoos down both my arms to my wrists – the venue is outdoors and in the hottest part of the year and she expects me to wear a long sleeved dress or a jacket? Not to mention dye my goddamn hair.”

So why the sudden attack on the guest? Perhaps the bride’s got some brewing jealousy for her.

“She mentions me texting her fiancé because anytime I text him about plans she gets super pissed and claims I’m trying to cut her out – even though they’re both always invited.

Edit: I haven’t told the fiancé yet, but we are seeing them in two weeks so I’ll bring it up in person, just trying to avoid making things worse by texting him ?

What did the texts say? Take a gander…

The guest has a good point.

Summer isn’t made for long sleeves! And keep in mind, this friend of the groom is not in the wedding party. She’s a guest!

Suck it up?!

Wow, this bride has zero empathy for people.

And the bride could care less about her guest’s financial set back. It’s all about the wedding and “how it looks.” This bridezilla has her prioritize misaligned!

But this isn’t the end of it. The blue-haired wedding guest followed up with some pretty interesting updates from the groom. Ouch.

“UPDATEEE:
Guys
GUYS
GUYSSSSSSS

Sorry it took so long but between this and some family junk the last two days have been nuts. I am writing this right before bed so if I don’t answer any questions I’m probably asleep lol.

OKAY SO

I called [Groom] on Saturday & asked about catching up. He was really weird and vague about it and I immediately thought he knew about the post ?

But about an hour later he texted me and asked to get a beer last night. Just him and us (my partner came too), no [Bride]

So we met up last night and HOLY SHIT [Bride] – but there are kind of reasons.

So [Groom] asks me if I’ve spoken to her lately and I just decide to dive straight in and tell him about the texts. Show them to him. And he says he thought I must’ve gotten something because she has been sending crazy af demands to basically everyone. These are the worst ones.

– Demanded the MOH cut her hair short so it wouldn’t be longer than hers on the day
– Told all his groomsmen (behind his back) that they would have to wear full tux’s on the day
– Texted all the male guests she could telling the full suits were required on the day & they would be barred from entry if they aren’t wearing one
– Sent the officiant a script for the day which was like a 2 hour ceremony and said if she deviated she would not be paid (the officiant threatened to cancel)
– Called his mother and told her she needed to dye her hair brunette because she needed to be the only blonde on the day
– They also said children welcome on invites but she texted a bunch of their friends who have kids saying their kids were not well behaved enough to come that only people with good children could bring them
– Told a few guests who had dietary requirements that they were just pretending so they could get special food and they wouldn’t be accomodated

[Groom] had no idea about any of these until his mother called him furious about the hair thing on Thursday & he discovered all the other crazy shit she had said. There was more but these were the main things.

Buuuuuuut

[Groom] isn’t going to dump her, apparently she’s had some issues with her family (I’m not going to say what cause it would be really uncool to share her private family matters) and he thinks that’s the cause of this sudden unreasonableness. She was totally on track before that and the suddenly in like a 3 day span sent all this stuff. They are considering postponing the wedding though.

It absolutely does not make her rude ass behaviour okay, but it does make a little more sense because she was being unbelievably ridiculous. Poor [Groom] has been trying to patch things over since finding out & trying to avoid having half his friends and family cut them out.

[Groom] does want to have her apologise to everyone but she’s still in a bad place & isn’t going to be doing that yet at least.

Sooooo yeah. I mean I feel bad that she’s having a hard time but also man holy fuck poor every person who has been on the receiving end of this stuff.

I did tell him about the post and the articles about it but honestly I don’t think he really cared, he just wanted to drink and talk. But he’ll tell her & I said if she wants to talk to me about it she can.
——————————————————————-
Minor Update: Okay so no she hasn’t seen this yet ? I am going to try and reach out the the fiancé today instead of waiting two weeks just because this has spread more than I anticipated lol. I will update after I talk to him or with anything else lol.”

Oh no she didn’t! Telling the MOH to cut her hair? And that only “good children” are invited? Okay, so yeah, we get it, the Bride is having family issues, but wow.

The Facebook community lit up with their take.

Can you blame them?

Commenters gonna comment!

And then there was the other side…

Such is life and weddings. I hope it all works out! What do you think? Is this bride unreasonable? Or should the wedding guest show up “as is”? I have my take, but tell us yours below!

Nüshu Was a 19th-Century Chinese Writing System That Only Women Knew How to Write

Imagine if there was a special writing script that only women know how to use. If that sounds like something out of a fantasy novel, think again. Nüshu was a women-only script in 19th-century China, and researchers are still attempting to figure out where it came from.

Nüshu comes from the county of Jiangyong in Hunan Province in China. In the 19th and 20th centuries, a small group of women used the script to write autobiographies, poetry, stories, and letters to one another. The graceful, phonetic alphabet of Nüshu was passed down from mother to daughter.

“Out of the thousands of scripts that are gender-specific to men, here we have one that we know is gender-specific to women,” researcher Cathy Silber explained to Atlas Obscura. Silber, professor at Skidmore College in New York, has been studying Nüshu since the ’80s.

While the idea of a ~secret women’s script~ is definitely sensational, Silber says that men were well aware of the script and could understand what it said if it was read aloud. “Men were not exactly clamoring to be let in on this ‘secret,’ just as they were not storming the lofts demanding to learn embroidery,” Silber said. “Even though it wasn’t a secret, it was for all practical purposes used exclusively by women.”

Still, in a nation where women were historically denied access to literacy, Nüshu stands out. It allowed women to tell their own stories in their own words, giving modern researchers a rare peek into the lives of everyday Chinese women in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

It’s still not clear where the script first came from. The most popular theory is that it was a retaliation to women’s exclusion from education.

The last known woman to know how to write Nüshu died in 2004. Experts have attempted to revive it by teaching classes, but it may soon be extinct.

In the 21st century, women in China may not need a special script of their own anymore. But the idea is just as intriguing and fascinating as ever.

People Discuss the Conspiracy Theories They Think Are Too Logical to Ignore

Even if I don’t really believe in them, I find conspiracy theories really interesting and I love reading about them.

What’s not to like? Politics, intrigue, power, deception. All the good stuff!

People on AskReddit weighed in with the conspiracy theories they think are way too logical to be ignored.

1. It is a nice airport…

“Denver Airport being a fallout shelter for the elite.

The fact that it went like a billion over budget and all the symbolism.”

2. So many involving JFK.

“1.) Kennedy gets elected

2.) Kennedy is critical of the CIA, his own VP and military for wanting to turn the cold war into a hot one and the willingness to perform false flag operations (Project Northwoods) to do it.

3.) Kennedy is shot

4.) His VP takes power

5.) [Classified]”

3. Very interesting…

“Someone brought up the art trade.

That these million dollar art shows/individual pieces that go for insanely high prices are just a way for money laundering.”

4. A lot of weird shit going on here.

“David Miscavige, the chairman of the Church of Scientology definitely murdered his wife and is getting off scott free for it. Him and his wife got into a pretty heated argument in 2007, and she hasn’t been seen since. Lawyers hired by David claim she is still alive and devotes 100% of her time to work at the church of scientology, which is why she hasn’t been seen since August 2007.

In 2013, a former member of the church had filed a missing person report that was closed after a few officers had “spoken and seen Mrs.Miscavige”, even though there’s no evidence whatsoever of this meeting. All missing person’s reports now are turned down since this investigation is forever closed.”

5. Gary Webb.

“Amazed that I haven’t seen Gary Webb mentioned.

Exposed the CIA for assisting in drug trafficking and “commit suicide” with 2 bullets to the head.”

6. Could it be true?

“Some torture devices such as the iron maiden were made up hundreds of years later so people would think “well, a regular hangin’ ain’t too bad then.””

7. Very suspicious…

“Nutley NJ, where Martha Stewart was born, has a butcher shop every other corner.

How much meat does one small blue collar town need? Suspicious.”

8. I’ll have to go back and re-watch this one.

“Let me introduce you to #WonkaPiercer.

The theory that Oscar winning director Bong Jun-Ho made a sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with his 2012 film Snowpiercer.”

9. Hadn’t thought of that.

“I like that people always are worried that Epstein was murdered instead of suicide.

What if this was a ploy to cover up that he just escaped or paid his way out of prison?”

10. I’ve heard this one before.

“Ronan Farrow is obviously Frank Sinatra’s kid and not Woody Allen’s.”

11. Men in black.

“I believe that the U.S government has men in black that make people “disappear” if they know more than what’s good for them.”

12. Fixed games.

“The NFL manipulates its games just enough in order to get the best product out of their season because they are a business with billions of dollars on the line.”

13. Not impossible.

“Nothing’s actually happening in Area 51.

The government just keep it so people will focus on it and ignore the shady stuff happening somewhere else.”

14. Wouldn’t that be something?

“Fidel Castro being Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s father.

The resemblance really is uncanny (he looks nothing like his supposed biological father) and when you see that the dates his mom was staying with the Castros in Cuba, everything really does line up. She also had numerous affairs rumors with people like Mick Jagger while she was married. She really had a history of getting around and partying at places like Studio 54, etc.”

15. A basketball mystery.

“This one isn’t as serious as most of the ones on here, but i enjoy it and have gotten into many a convo about it.

In the 2017 NBA playoffs a player named Markieff Morris, who at the time played for the Washington Wizards, hurt his ankle in game one. This was only 11minutes into the game and he didn’t return. The injury looked like he would be out for a couple weeks and no one expected him to play game 2. But, he showed up game 2 and played as if he was never injured, in fact, had his best game statistically of the playoffs to that point.

Here’s where it gets interesting, Markieff Morris has an identical twin brother named Marcus who also plays in the NBA. His brother was playing for the Pistons, who were eliminated from the playoffs already.

The theory is that Marcus played for his brother. Both brothers have the exact same tattoos and don’t have any super apparent different traits.”

There is definitely some interesting information to think about in those responses.

What do you think? Are there are conspiracy theories that you totally buy into?

Tell us about them in the comments!

People Who Were Mentioned in Suicide Notes Share Their Stories

I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be mentioned in a person’s suicide note, but it obviously is a pretty common occurrence.

AskReddit users opened up and talked about these painful experiences.

1. Wanted to leave this world.

“Around May two years ago, my mother tried to commit suicide and I remember finding the note after I found her. When I went to “find her” I thought she was somebody trying to break into our house so I went and grabbed a knife, it turns out the noise I heard was her body flopping against the door.

I ended up being able to make sure she was okay but I think what killed me most was her note. She stated that my two sisters and I were all she had and (since we were growing up) she didn’t have us anymore. She wanted to leave this world so badly.”

2. You’re going to be a star.

“My amazing cousin killed himself when I was 16. He was 26. We found the note a few weeks later. He’d singled out immediate family members with a love / good bye note. No one else except his 4 siblings and parents. Then there was my mum, my brother, and then me at the bottom. “You’re going to grow up and be amazing; you’re going to be a star.”

You don’t know weight till your fav person in the world thinks the world of you, and that’s the last thing they think before they die. And you have no idea how to live up to it. Haunting and inspiring. You don’t forget it.”

3. Still not over it.

“He wanted me to know he loved me. That it wasn’t my fault. That I was “the best friend anyone could want or have.” That I should have his car. That he thought he was going mad and was saving his brother and me from the maddness.

I showed the note to my therapist. She thinks he had schizophrenia. His Mom did.

Its been 6 years. Im still not over his death. Doubt I ever will be.”

4. So young.

“I was a teenager and a close friend killed herself.

She wanted me to have her music collection, leather jacket, and a screenplay she wrote.”

5. I had no idea…

“He sent me a separate note the day before he did it.

“Thanks for existing, i love you”

I just answered with “love you too, bud”. I had no idea.”

6. Thanks for being a friend.

“I was thanked in my friend’s suicide note. I was with him the night he passed. I didn’t know he was going to do it, he just said he was upset and wanted to meet up for a smoke and a chat.

I believe I was the last person to see him alive. It really hit me hard when I found out he had passed.”

7. Specific instructions.

“My mom committed suicide after finding out that her tumor was malignant, she had just lost her father a year before and her mother died in treatment for cancer, she laid everything out notes to specific people and how she wanted things done .

I have always been an old soul and she planned for me to find her as I would be the reasonable person I am. But that day I was invited to try out for the debate team so I came home late…..and my little sister was the one who found her.”

8. That’s terrible.

“My boyfriend blamed me in his note and professed his love for someone else while condemning me.”

9. Absolutely brutal.

“My girlfriend killed herself a little over a year ago.

We were fighting and I was planning to leave her. She sent me a message that she hoped her death weighed heavy on me for a long time while I was sleeping.

She was dead in the bed next to me when I woke up.”

10. Life is cruel.

“My partner took her own life last year. I had become a carer due to her poor & declining health and she was despondent, going from a life as an active working professional to being stuck at home with her mind and body letting her down.

Her note was addressed to me and me alone. She texted her father.

In many ways it was beautifully worded. She expressed her eternal love for me and recognition of mine for her – which gave me comfort that she did not die feeling unloved. She stated that she – and I – had done our best and fought so hard for so long but she couldn’t go on. “Thankyou for everything you did, there is nothing more you could have done”.

She said lovely things about me and ended with “love for eternity” which I hang onto on my dark days as belief that we will meet again & her spirit lives on.

I know I couldn’t do more. But she was only 38 and fought so hard for years as her body failed from combined autoimmune illnesses. Nothing that would kill her itself – even crueller in a way it just robbed her of life bit by bit.”

11. Two different notes.

“Been in two. First….Best friends younger brother shot himself downtown in a popular street section an hour after I was the last to speak with him. We weren’t the best friends but we grew up together and shared many moments. last moments together I Bought him a bud light and a shot of Pendelton whiskey… his and my thing..

He wrote how I almost.. almost.. changed his mind with my words. I didn’t know till a week later what he’d done. I feel terrible for not seeing it.. his brother and I broke apart heavily afterwards after being best friends since our jr year.

Second: My ex girlfriend from high school year and a half out of high school. she called me the person who listened most to her. I didn’t love her.. but i did care about her. Attended her funeral and some treated me like the cause.. others actually realized she was going to die sooner or later from a heart condition. I respect her choice. She choose the way she lived and died.”

12. That’s intense.

“I knew a mass shooter that committed suicide. Always thought he was a friend, but after he died all of his videos resurfaced on the web that detailed how miserable he was, his manifesto AND even his plan for the mass shooting. In one of his mental breakdown videos, he mentions “some freak coming out as gay” to him, it was me.”

13. Blamed it on you.

“Mentioned by name we were young 13. She blamed me because I didn’t want to have sex because “It was the only thing that would make her feel better after her cousin died.” So I got called everything you could think of in that school the rest of my time there. And am still completely fucked even at 29.”

14. Professed his love.

“We were two weeks to the day from our 16th anniversary. (He said meaning the note). He was tired of fighting his brain and tired of fighting his inner demons. He said he was ready to go. He was at peace with his final decision. He said he knew I would be okay because I was always the strong one.

He professed his love for me and thanked me for never giving up on him. He asked me to promise myself that I would someday allow someone else to experience the joy that is the love I had given to him. July will be six years. I’ve yet to fulfill the promise he asked me to make. I never will.”

15. Snubbed.

“A good friend of mine, I unintentionally snubbed him once and I thought I had apologized for it and he was okay with it but he mentioned it in the letter and clearly wasn’t. A lot of guilt goes along with that many years later.”

16. Blamed for it.

“My girlfriend (She’s obviously not now but I’m not sure what to call her anymore) killed herself in January after we argued about something trivial. In hindsight, I wish I stayed in, instead of going out with some friends I hadn’t seen for a while. I compromised and said I’d come and see her earlier but that wasn’t what she wanted. I feel so bad for it now.

So, I’m out with my friends I do not see often now due to being in other cities and I’m quite mentally ill so it’s hard for me but isn’t it for everyone these days. I get a text off her mates saying that, ‘She’s slit her wrists and OD’d’ her mates also add the ‘it’s your fault’.

She’d left a note blaming me and saying I caused it. Her parents are being kind to me and we talk sometimes but I keep thinking she’d still be alive if she didn’t date me. Her friends keep texting me and reminding me it’s my fault.”

17. Thankfully, he survived.

“My friend came over to my apartment to chill and drink beer. He waited for me to fall asleep so he could get my gun and kill himself. I awoke to a gunshot. He shot himself in the chest. I called 911 and was able to stop the bleeding long enough to ultimately save his life. After he was rushed off in an ambulance, the police found a note that I had missed in the confusion. It basically read that he resented his ex girlfriend and regretted being in the military.

The final sentence was addressed to the cops explaining that I was a good friend, and had nothing to do with, nor have knowledge of his intended suicide. He eventually survived, but has major life-long injuries. Oddly, I feel grateful for his intention to exonerate me.”

Sad stories, indeed.
