15 People Share What Happened After They Caught Their Spouses Cheating

You might think we live in a romantic world, but the numbers don’t lie. A staggering amount of people cheat on their significant others.

In this AskReddit article, people who got cheated on share their horror stories about what went down.

1. That one stings

“Had a really close group of friends who would always prank each other. One of my mates found out the Facebook password of another, so while on Skype the whole call – included myself, logged into his Facebook account (being 7 people) to make a stupid status. At the same time my partner of 5 years was messaging him on Facebook about how good sex was last night and about meeting up again.”

2. Sketchy

“Me and my girlfriend were long distance and she had a habit of going quiet sometimes. She’d been texting me for the last few weeks but had made excuses not to come visit.

I went to a party that my friend had organised. I met a friend of his who told me he had a new girlfriend. I was surprised he hadn’t mentioned her, so I asked who she was. This lady introduced me to my girlfriend. She’d told everyone that we broke up, and had been dating my friend for about a month. She didn’t bother to tell me.”

3. Surprise!

“Walked in on my girlfriend while she was having sex with another guy. “What are you doing here?!” she says. “You gave me a key, remember? I ended up not working today and wanted to surprise you.”

15 years later she reaches out, leaves me a message that she’d like to talk. I figure she’s doing some 12-step thing or something and wants to make amends.

Nope. She wanted to try and sell me on Amway.”

4. Caught in the act

“Came home early. They were fast enough to get dressed but not in a natural state of being, if that makes sense. It was obvious something was just going down. Very cliched “got walked in on and tried to play it cool” like you see in tv. I asked him to leave and he did.

We argued, she tried to lie but soon confessed. It wasn’t the first time she cheated but it was the first time that I caught her in the act. Everything in the past was just texts and stuff. She said that she never slept with the other people and it was just pics and flirting. In retrospect, that may not be BS.

We divorced, both remarried. Not friends by any stretch, but civil.”

5. Bad homecoming

“Mt St Augustine erupted in Alaska in 1986. They had to evacuate all planes out of Elmendorf AFB due to ash in the air. This sent my unit home from Korea 3 days early. I got home at 2 AM and there was a guy sleeping next to my wife in our bed.”

6. Nice guys finish last

“Not me but a medical resident who I met on rotation recently. One of the nicest guy I ever met, super intelligent and hardworking, and training to be a trauma surgeon by humble as they come. He had been married for 2 years to his wife. One night he gets off a 30 hour call early and heads home to surprise his wife with some flowers and her favorite dessert (it was the anniversary of the day they first met). Only to find her in bed with a random dude.

He was so exhausted and confused, he didn’t know what to do and just left and went back to the hospital. I saw him at 5AM, sitting in the parking lot, hunched over crying. He didn’t even have his phone with him, he was just sitting there. Man, nothing breaks your heart more than seeing a grown man cry, it’s not something you see often. We called his dad up and he came and picked him up, the guy ended up taking a leave from his residency. Turns out, it wasn’t the wife’s first time sleeping around. Hope he gets back on his feet, he will make an amazing physician.”

7. Hurts like hell

“Long story short, I suspected something for a few months. Like an idiot, I opened her phone while she was asleep and found exactly what I was looking for, like you always do when searching through someone else’s phone. Even with all of the texts right there to see she still lied about it multiple times. She eventually admitted to it but downplayed it heavily.

She told me about two nights ago that he asked her out on a date and she said “I had to say no” and was visibly sad about it.

In the process of getting a divorce now. Hurts like hell.”

8. “Jennifer”

“College girlfriend and we lived together for a year after I realized she would always have her phone on silent or just plain ignore calls from “Jennifer.” One day I write down the number and call it a week later. It ends up being her other boyfriend who she had never broken up with before she came to college. Neither of us knew about each other and she had being visiting him when she went home to see her parents on some weekends and breaks. Broke up soon after and her mom said that sometimes you just have to accept things and how I owed her an apology for breaking up with her. It gets worse but that was the gist.”

9. Brother ‘fessed up

“Dating this girl a few years back and I became really good friends with her brother just because he appreciated my help during a difficult time for their family (their father had abruptly passed away).

2 years into the relationship the brother contacts me and asks to meet up for coffee and a serious conversation.

Apparently HE caught his own sister with another guy (mutual friend of ours) and this sh*t had been going on for like a year.

As soon as he found out, I was told.

Broke up with her. Still friends with her brother. Go figure.”

10. Dread

“Things had been a little shaky as I was working a lot and felt sapped when she wanted to go be social with friends so I often stayed home.

I wanted to do something nice for her for Valentines day so I sent her friend a text asking if there was something that she may have mentioned she would like to do. As I was waiting on that text I was in another room I saw her phone buzz with her friend’s name. The number was below the name and since I had just sent her a text I knew they didn’t match.

There are very few times my blood has been that cold and feelings of dread.

I called the number with my phone and it rang and rang before going to voicemail. Needless to say it was the other guy.

I confronted her about it and she said she was waiting to leave and had a bag packed in case I found out. She had no intentions of trying to work things out so a month later she had moved out.

I made a decision then that I could be broken up and miserable or that I could choose to be happy and be open to a relationship if it was available. I’ve since remarried and have two beautiful boys with my amazing wife.

Regardless of the sh*ttiness and horror in these stories there is always the opportunity to be happy. If you’re reading this thread because it happened to you or just from morbid curiosity : choose to be happy. Be the person that you can be proud of and move on to better things.”

11. Ruined vacation

“On family vacation, I picked up his phone because I was bored and the kids were playing on mine. Saw a message to some girl describing the sex he and I had the night before. Spent the rest of the vacation fighting via text while trying (and failing) to act normal.”

12. That’s not good

“Her phone went off and she asked me what it said. I looked at it and it said, “I wanna bend you over and spank you.” “

13. Over and done with

“Found my wife’s notebook. Written on the first page was a 10-step plan detailing how she was going to leave me for another guy.

I turned it into one step.”

14. Shit happens

“Woke up to her on her phone with hearts scrolling in Facebook Messenger.

We were married 7 years at that point. 2 kids.

It was my birthday.

Edit: I won’t feign total innocence: marriage is hard. I was working and in school full time so she could be a stay at home mom, which was our goal. She realized she wanted something else and moved on. Shit happens. Roll with the punches.”

15. That’s a lot of messages

“Caught my now ex husband. Something was way off, I was 6 months pregnant with our second child and my best friend at the time was also off. Picked up his phone at 2AM when it went off and found a secret password locked messenger (GO messenger?) Password was his birthday, real winner. I found over 7k messages along with photos, some insinuating I was present with either one of them while they were messaging.

I was upset and woke him up- he locked himself in the bathroom and pulled the attempted suicide card. There’s another year of trying to work it out shenanigans after this incident but I’m so glad that chapter in my life it over.”

This Explanation of What It’s like to Be a Billionaire is Sure to Make You Feel Poor

We’ve all dreamed about what it would be like to have all the money in the world (or all the money we would know what to do with, at least), but how many have actually sat down and visualized what that would look like? Well, one Tumblr user took it upon himself to show everyone what it would be like if you suddenly had a billion dollars.

The Tumblr user, known as The Last Meme Era, said about the post,

Basically I guessed that most people probably don’t have a clear concept of what a billion dollars actually is, and if I could put it into practical terms that are easy to understand, people would be shocked at just how rich the world’s wealthiest people are. Hopefully people might be moved to become more socially engaged if they had a better picture of how society distributes economic resources.

Read on and ponder what it really means to be a part of the elite 1%.

The post received a lot of attention, so one year later he wrote a follow-up where he added even more details.

Women Share What They Would Do If Men Had a 9:00 P.M Curfew…and the Responses are Heartbreaking

Being a woman is wonderful, but it doesn’t come without serious risks. Too often those risks can be traced back to something that has to do with men and their behavior in public. You know the ones. The men who scream obscenities, “accidentally” bump into our bodies, call us names for rejecting their unsolicited advances, or do whatever it is they do to objectify us and exert their power over us are a problem. So are the ones that stand by and silently watch it happen. It’s why, as women, we live our lives defensively.

We expect and prepare for the worst whenever we leave our homes. We avoid activities we love because we can’t feel safe doing them at night. This is why we avoid public transportation when possible. It’s the same reason we make it a point to travel in packs wherever we go. It’s why we carry mace, or something more stopping with us. We keep our keys in our hands ready to scratch, poke holes in, and gouge anyone that makes us fear for our safety.

When Danielle Muscato went on Twitter and asked women what they would do if men lived under a 9:00 p.m. curfew, as is enforced against women in a few regressive nations, the answers where wholly depressing, and sadly unsurprising.

It’s not that women want to go out and do all kinds of crazy things at night, but if they do, that’s okay. Women want to do the simple things that we should be able to take part in that are missed. Going for a nighttime jog, maybe even with headphones on, would be great. Catching a bus without fear. Going to the grocery store alone at night. They are the kinds of things women immediately relate to, and miss themselves.

What we learn by reading what thousands of women answered is that the world feels, and too often is, dangerous for women.

Without fear of men, women might open doors at night. We might stop off at someplace new for a coffee. Maybe we would even smile more – because isn’t that what so many men keep telling women we need to do anyway.

These 20 Books Have Been Banned Most Frequently in the Past 5 Years

You might think banned books are a thing of the past, but that is far from the truth. Books continue to be banned in the U.S. year after year for a variety of reasons, including cultural insensitivity, depictions of sex, homosexual themes, etc.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher was the most banned book of 2017 due to its themes of suicide. This list is based on the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom. Here are the 20 most challenged and banned books of the last 5 years.

If you’re like me, you’ll want to check these titles out, because there’s nothing worse than censorship and dictating what people can or can’t read.

The 10 Fastest Animals on Earth Will Make You Feel…Very Slow

What is the fastest animal on Earth? Usain Bolt is definitely the fastest human animal, clocking in at around 25 mph, but compared to animals in the wild, he’s barely moving. Don’t believe us? Check out this list of 10 animals faster than an Olympic champion.

10. A day at the races

Quarter horses reach speeds up to 55 MPH. A lot of different animals come in close to this mark, but quarter horses have a higher top speed than all of them, and they can finish about as fast as they start which is pretty impressive.

9. Catch me if you can

On the African Savannah, the Springbok eludes prey by running at high speeds for long distances. They actually get up to 60 MPH, and can stay near that speed for miles if that’s what it takes to avoid being dinner. Like their cousin, the black wildebeest, they have really funky muscle fibers which allow them to be so dang fast!

8. They say I used to be faster

The pronghorn used to be considered the second fastest land animal in the world back in the 1940s, but better technology has changed that. However, they’re still way faster than Usain Bolt. They can technically hit 62 MPH, but tend to hang out around 40+ MPH.

7. What’s that up in the sky?

Anna’s Hummingbird is a cute little winged thing that is crazy fast once it gets going. It can fly up to 61 MPH over short distances, but when measured by how many body lengths per second (bl/s) it travels, which is up to 320, it’s faster than the space shuttle.

6. I’m not as fast as you think I am

Cheetahs are pretty fast, to the tune of 65 MPH, but that comes with a disclaimer. Domesticated cheetahs raised at zoos have gotten to that speed, or close to it, but in the wild, cheetahs tend to run much slower, because it allows greater maneuverability when hunting.

5. My speed is uncommon

The common swift can hit speeds of up to 70 MPH when it’s just cruising around at level flight looking for statues to sit on. They may go faster, but there haven’t been many reliable readings of their speed. Even if they don’t though, it’s still pretty impressive!

7. Don’t let the gray on my head fool you

The gray-headed albatross is regarded as the fastest bird at level flight, clocking in at 80 MPH. That’s insane! But here’s the real scoop on it — the record could be the product of a performance enhancer. It seems that the specific gray-headed albatross that was clocked doing 80 MPH had a tailwind of 40MPH, possibly even up to 50 MPH helping it along.

8. I’m fast when I want to be

The Hybomitra hinei wrighti horsefly might reach 90 MPH, according to one researcher. However, while his observations are considered interesting, it’s going to take more than one horsefly chasing a plastic pellet from an air rifle to count as an official record.

9. I want to fly like an eagle, but faster!

There have been claims that the Brazilian free-tailed bat has gone up to 100 MPH, but they’ve been met with great skepticism. Seven bats were studied, and while all could go at least 55 MPH, five almost reached 70 MPH, and supposedly this one super buff bat clocked in at 100 MPH. Kinda makes you wonder if it had a performance enhancer like that gray-headed albatross did.

10. I’m always first to dinner

If you count when the peregrine falcon goes into a stoop, which is a wicked crazy hunting dive for dinner, they can go over 200 MPH! Granted, they only fly around 50 MPH at level, but the diving for dinner thing blows the doors off everyone else.

Whether a dive technically counts or not is up to debate, but either way, that is amazingly fast!

10+ Romantics Recall Their Very First Kiss

My first kiss took place in middle school and was sufficiently awkward enough to coincide with the setting. They say you never forget your first kiss – or your first love – and I can say that for me, at least, both are true.

These 15 people have memories of their own, and whether they’re sweet, awkward, or hilarious, you’re going to love them.

#15. It was a trap.

“She asked me over to fix her computer. There was nothing wrong with it. She looked at me shrugged then kissed me. It was a trap.”

#14. For free homemade cookies.

“7th grade I wanted to go to the Valentine’s Day dance for free homemade cookies. However I couldn’t enter the dance without a date, so I asked this kid that was in detention to play as my boyfriend so I could get in to the dance.

After the dance he walked me home, when he dropped me off he asked me for a kiss. I replied “sure” and eyes wide open kissed him on the lips.

Edit: spelling.”

#13. I kinda want to kiss you.

“Was on the third date with my crush. We were out in the parking lot after a movie and he walked me to my car. We just talked and hugged for a bit. Then he said “I kinda want to kiss you.” I was stunned for a few moments, but I said “I’d be okay with that.”

We’ve been dating for almost 6 months now.”

#12. Some practice.

“Sleepover at a friend (we’re both girls) we we’re talking about it and then she kissed me. Very good to have some practise before my first guy kiss happened a few months later.”

#11. Never saw him again.

“We were 15. He went to my Saturday drama club. Some emo/goth looking kid. I was hooked on him. Was devastated the day he brought his girlfriend with him. Couple weeks later they split up and I was elated. Still I was ugly and fat and awkward and shy…

I can’t keep my feelings hidden though. A girl from the club who also went to my school threw a birthday party and I was invited. I didn’t particularly like this girl, she was a two faced snide bullying bitch (the kind that wears you down with snide comments that if brought up she’d laugh off as a joke). When she realised I was making excuses not to go she said the magic words; Colin will be there!

Spent the night being awkwardly pushed in his general direction. He gave me my first beer and it was foul (still can’t stand the stuff despite my now husband being something of a connoisseur). At one point we ended up on the couch side by side. Another girl suddenly stood up and said “oh for God’s sake, everybody out except you two!” and ushered everyone out of the room, turning off the main light and turning on a red lamp that happened to be there.

He turned to me, said “oh what the hell” and we made out for about 2 minutes before everyone came back in. At the time it was breathtaking. Looking back it was terrible, he litteraly just poked the tip of my tongue with his. Spent the rest of the night with his arm around me. Eventually we were ushered off to bed by the birthday girls parents, girls upstairs, boys downstairs. He whispered to me to come find him downstairs. I wanted to but I didn’t have the guts. My dad picked me up the next morning before he even woke up. Never saw him again.”

#10. I was a huge dork.

“We were walking to the parking lot after my first school dance, and there was a lot of snow gently falling. I spotted my ride and said something like, “Oh, hey, there’s my dad” and she spun around and kissed me while we were right in the center area of a street light. It was really lovely, but I have to give all if the credit to her, since I was a huge dork.”

#9. All tongue.

“Her name was Kyria and she was so soft and beautiful. A few years ago we had to put her down, but I’ll always remember when she kissed me for the first time. It was all tongue.”

#8. I just about died.

“We just ate some chilli for dinner and  he took me by surprise. I full on belched my chilli stinking breath in his mouth. I just about died. Luckily our second kiss was more successful.”

#7. A second go.

“Asked “want a kiss?” then handed me a Hershey. Later that night he leaned in for a kiss and our glasses knocked together. We laughed a bit and had a second go.”

#6. Little romantic me.

“Was at my first girlfriends house, we were around 17 at the time. We were cuddling on the couch in her room when I leaned over her. I was incredibly nervous and she was so beautiful and I didn’t know of kissing her was okay (we weren’t together then). She lifted her head a little and gave me a soft kiss. I must’ve looked a bit startled because she said “you had that look on your face”. We kissed again and I dorked out, failing to ask her then and there if she wanted to date me, asking her later that night over Skype. Yeah. Little romantic me ruined that part of her first relationship.”

#5. Halfway around the world.

“Flew half way around the world to meet a guy I had been talking to online for the last 7 years. He met me in the airport and asked if he could kiss me, I said yes.

It’s been just over 6 years since then, and this random internet stranger and I are now married with two little puppies.”

#4. He asked if I was a lesbian.

“I was just a couple weeks before being 21, drunk, at my crush’s house, and kissed some random guy after he asked me if I was a lesbian. So romantic.”

#3. The right moment.

“We met on World of Warcraft and talked for 9 months on skype and the phone. I moved from Texas to Iowa to be with her. she lived with her parents to sisters and their husbands and kids. We hung out alone all day, then met her family that afternoon and that evening went to the lake. It was Fourth of July. her and I walked around the lake holding hands then when it got dark we headed back sat down, I bought her brother in laws and dad and I a few beers and bought food and drinks for everyone. we sat there on the ground she was in front of me my arms around her. she had her little niece in her lap. we watched the fireworks go off. that night she took me back to where I was staying. as she went to get in the car to go home. I grabbed her shoulder spun her around and put both of my hands on her neck and kissed her. at that exact moment the neighbors across the street started shooting off fireworks. It just was perfect and was so unplanned and just was the right moment.”

#2. A REAL kiss.

“Technically it was in primary school; i was sitting with my “boyfriend” and we were watching some movie (it was in school, some kind of a science class), he was hugging me, I turned around to tell him something and he kissed me, but his lips were so wet I immediately moved away; I don’t even count it as my first kiss. but my “second first time” was when I was 14 and I was with my boyfriend for a month. I don’t even remember how it happened, I just told him I was ready (it was such a big deal for me idk why, I just was so stressed), he gave me a quick kiss and I was like “no you dumbass, I want a REAL kiss” and we made out.”

#1. Inhaled my face.

“I was 14 and he was 18 (yes, I now know how fucking creepy that was). My parents didn’t know about our relationship yet and he would walk me to the corner of my street from where the school bus let us off. My mom was in the front yard so we had to part a little earlier. We had talked about me wanting my first kiss earlier so we decided to do it there. He was a horrible kisser and practically inhaled my face, but I didn’t care because I finally felt like I was officially a teenager who was desired by someone. Every one of my peers had had their first kiss way earlier and I hated feeling so left behind.”

I hope all of your memories are as sweet as these!

This Company Finally Made Shoes for Kids with Special Needs

A company and their unique and easy-to-use design have gone viral after a special needs’ mom found them for her daughter and posted about them on Facebook. If you or someone you love has a disability that makes dressing and/or finding fashionable clothing or footwear a challenge, you’re going to love these new adaptable shoes from Billy Footwear.

Nicole Goodwin-Hubert writes that she’s so excited about the shoes she found for her daughter, Laura, asking, “Where have these shoes been all my life?” and telling other mamas that they are “unbelievably easy to get on over braces,” and they’re “so cute, too.”

The shoes incorporate zippers that run along the sides of the shoe and around the toe into their design, allowing the entire top to come loose and fold over. That means the person wearing them can place their foot directly into the shoe, without having to go through the process of wedging in their toes, then their heel.

Billy’s Footwear was founded by Darin Donaldson and Billy Price after Price was paralyzed following a fall, and making good-looking shoes that help the adaptive community has always been their priority. Their mission is to “create mainstream shoes that are functional, fashionable, and inclusive for everyone.”

It’s notable that they have tons of options when it comes to style – hi-tops, low-tops, laces, without laces – and different, fashionable fabrics and patterns to choose from. Because having a disability shouldn’t force people to sacrifice individuality and style, though it often does due to a simple lack of choices. It’s easy to see that the people at Billy are devoted to that mission, especially when it comes to kids, based on this quote from their website:

“Everybody is unique and we all want to express ourselves and feel confident.”

You can buy Billy Footwear on their website, at Zappos, Nordstroms, and at Kids Foot Locker.
