This Amazing Twitter Thread Details All of the Weird Ways Your Brain Is Lying to You

Pop psychology is awesome, and with people’s attention spans getting shorter and shorter these days (thanks, internet), it shouldn’t surprise us that we can glean a surprising amount of uber cool knowledge from places like Twitter.

Case and point – this thread that serves as a tidy reminder that we mostly don’t understand the advanced biological computers that run our bodies and our lives, day and night.

tl;dr: brains are weird and wonderfully adaptive and you don’t have to understand them to appreciate those facts.

But wait…there’s more!

And still more…

Here are some ways to check it yourself. (Hint: Do not shine a laser in your eyes, though).

Twitter Thread Gives Us One More Reason to Love Star Wars Director Rian Johnson

Love or hate The Last Jedi, few can argue with the fact that director Rian Johnson has a unique vision and the ability to bring a fresh take on the science fiction genre to the screen. Which, if you love the genre, you have to appreciate – even if the end product is sometimes not for you.

Even better, it turns out that he is also a genuinely nice person who goes out of his way to treat strangers like human beings, so…bonus!

Check out this Twitter thread from Kumail Nanjiani, who encountered Johnson on a Comic Con red carpet the same day he realized how hard red carpet interviews are (totally true) and had already had a rough go.

Here’s what happened.

Doesn’t that just make you feel good about the world? You’re welcome!

Burger King Trolled IHOP over Its Big Change and It Was Hilarious

This is why the Internet was invented, people. After news broke that IHOP (International House of Pancakes for the uninitiated) changed it’s name to IHOb (International House of Burgers), fast food burger chains couldn’t just sit on the sidelines. Wendy’s weighed on, but it was Burger King that decided to really burn IHOP, I mean IHOb, on social media.

“Pancake King.” Has a nice right to it, don’t you think? Burger King even changed their cover photo to this for a while:

Steam-umm got in on the action as well.

Time will tell where this food marketing war will go next…

Millennials Clap Back at Baby Boomers Who Say They Too Much Money on Unnecessary Luxuries

This Millennials vs. Baby Boomers fued seems to be never-ending…and I love it! The older Baby Boomers just love to point out how clueless they think these young Millennials are, and how irresponsible they are with their money.

One of the big complaints from Baby Boomers is that these damn youngsters spend too much money on things that are completely unnecessary. Well, Millennials are a little sick and tired of the criticism, so they have been firing back on Twitter and taking their older counterparts to task. First item of business: plates and silverware.

Zing! Other young people added that many of them don’t have one good set of plates, let alone two.

And then they sounded off about a variety of things that Baby Boomers do that really gets under their skin.

And then they got a little more specific with some outrageous stories about the irresponsible spending of these old geezers.

This Millennial summed up one of the major differences between the two generations pretty accurately.

And if Boomers really, really want to keep arguing, Millennials just need to show them this handy graph. And that should end the conversation…

These 20 Women Muster Up the Courage to Ask out Their Crush…and Then Share the Responses

Recently, British relationship blogger Oloni encouraged her female readers to take the leap – ask out that guy (or girl) you’ve been crushing on forever. For extra funsies, she wanted them to screenshot the responses and share them with #datechallenge (presumably to encourage others to carpe diem and all of that).

She may not have been prepared for the number of funny and/or downright insulting no responses that came in along the way, but we (as in the internet) thank her and the women who participated.

Enjoy!

PETA Probably Shouldn’t Have Asked Twitter for Reasons to Eat Bacon

PETA, PETA, PETA. I admire your cause (even though I’m too much of a carnivore to join your ranks), but sometimes you just bring the pain upon yourself. Like recently, when the animal rights organization posed a question on Twitter that opened the floodgates for some serious Twitter snark.

As you might expect, some Twitter users immediately began trolling PETA.

Some cut straight to the chase. IT’S DELICIOUS.

Others didn’t feel the need to offer a detailed explanation. It is what it is.

The debate spilled over into the political realm, as Utah Senator Orrin Hatch got in on the action. Hey, the man has principles.

When an angry Tweeter told the Senator, “I hope you choke on it,” he replied with a zinger.

This guy presented a very thoughtful response.

And then the trolls reappeared.

This Twitter Thread Will Educate You About Vaginas

Considering the fact that 50% of the population owns a vagina and a good percentage of people who don’t will have concerns related to a vagina at some point in their lives, it’s truly amazing how much people don’t know (or don’t want to discuss) about the female-owned organ.

Proof? Women still buy douche and wear fancy panties every day of their lives.

But Twitter user Alison Pool is taking us all to school – and trust me, you’ll probably learn something before she’s done!

tl:dr: Vaginas are like self-cleaning ovens. Don’t mess put cleaning products in them, let them air out once in a while, and if they appear broken, go see a professional. Oh yeah, and always pee after you have sex. #glam

And so it begins.

Now you know. Don’t let men tell you how to take care of your ladybits, friends. Do it your own damn selves.

This 9-Year-Old Boy Runs a Twitter Page Solely Dedicated to Him Petting Random Dogs

Now THIS is what the Internet should be all about. Gideon Kidd is a 9-year-old who runs a Twitter account that, if you don’t already follow, should be at the top of your list to check daily. Kidd is on a mission, and it is a noble one: to pet every dog he can get his hands on. He documents all of it through his Twitter page, I’ve Pet That Dog.

As of this writing, Kidd has almost 75,000 followers on Twitter. Each post contains the pooch’s name, age, and personality traits. Sometimes he’ll include a good story as well.

Kidd has his own dog, a 12-year-old stray named Walter who his family found running across a highway. I need to find a job like Gideon has…smart kid. Take a look at some more of the doggies Kidd has encountered.

Restaurants Have Hilariously Savage Reactions to IHOP Becoming IHOb

I mean, I don’t know how you could have missed the hilariously stupid announcement that the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) is about to become the International House of Burgers (IHOB). And it turns out that the general public aren’t the only ones keen to ridicule the former pancake chain on the change of fare…the people who run the Twitter accounts of several other restaurant chains also had thoughts.

Hilarious thoughts.
