Earn $1,000 by Watching 24 Hallmark Christmas Movies in 12 Days

I have a feeling a lot of people are gonna be into this.

For some people, this would be a dream come true. For others…maybe not so much.

Internet service provider CenturyLink is offering to pay one lucky person $1,000 to binge-watch 24 Hallmark Christmas movies in 12 days. What a deal!

The website says:

“‘Tis the Season … to Get Paid to Watch Christmas Movies and it looks like all your Christmas wishes may just come true. We’re looking for a lover of all things Christmas, G-Rated romcoms, and too-close-to-home family dramas to watch 24 Hallmark Christmas movies in 12 days. If you think that’s you, we’ll give you $1,000 to critique a lineup of festive guilty pleasures.”

The site also says:

“You know how to work the Gram, Twitter, or Facebook. We want someone who’s willing to document their Hallmark marathon with their followers.

We want you to have opinions—lots of them! Think the grumpy Grandpa turned jolly Santa was a little overdone? Felt like the plot was a bit half-baked? Be as honest as possible in your review.”

Here’s what you have to do to win: every time you watch one of the films, get on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, include the hashtags #CountdowntoChristmas and #HallmarkDreamJob in every post. Also, you have to watch all 24 films within 12 days by December 25, 2019.

And you have to fill out the application on this website.

If you win, you’ll get that cold, hard $1,000 and a Hallmark binge-watching package that includes a subscription to a streaming service, hot cocoa (you’ll need that), Christmas cookies, a mini Christmas tree, some fairy lights, and all kinds of Hallmark swag.

Get going! Time’s a wasting!

The marketing gods approve of this scenario BIG TIME.

‘Gremlins’ Is Coming Back to Theaters This December

Gremlins hit theaters in 1984, and it’s safe to say that the horror/comedy film has become a cult classic that a whole lot of people watch around Christmas.

Let’s all have a refresher and watch the original trailer, okay?

If you’re a fan of this fun, freaky, fright-fest, I have great news for you! Gremlins is returning to theaters for one week only: December 5 – December 11.

It makes sense, because the film is set during Christmastime and some consider it a “holiday movie” (omg that scene…you know that one I’m talking about).

If you’ve never seen Joe Dante’s Gremlins, let’s get all caught up. A man buys his son a gift at a store in Chinatown. What does he buy? A ‘mogwai’, an adorable little creature that comes with a few rules. The shopkeeper tells the man not to expose the creature to bright light or water…and don’t feed it after midnight.

Well, you can probably imagine what happens next. I’ll leave the rest up in the air, just in case you’ve never seen it before.

The film will screen in 4DX, which Regal describes as “immersive cinematic experience presents the future of the movie industry.” Or, as one website put it, “4DX at Regal is the ultimate experience involving motion chairs and special effects like wind and rain.”

Which sounds legitimately awesome.

Be sure to check out the Regal Cinemas page to see if and where Gremlins will be playing by you in December.

Do you remember the first time you saw Gremlins? Tell us about it in the comments! And remember, whatever you do, don’t feed them after midnight!

A Dad Shared His 10-Year-Old Daughter’s Lengthy Christmas List and People Think It’s Hilarious

Kids sure are funny, aren’t they? Especially when it comes to their massive wish lists for Christmas…

Which is what the father of a 10-year-old girl recently found out when she presented him with an epic Christmas list that he thankfully shared on social media.

Dad thought the list was so outrageous that he said on Twitter, “My 10 year old daughter must be out of her mind with this Christmas list.” He added, “My soon to be 10-year-old daughter clearly has a false sense of funds that we have with this Christmas list. But kudos to her for her expensive taste.”

How Retailers Trick You into Spending Money on Black Friday

Black Friday is almost here, and you know what that means…mass chaos, news reports of people brawling in the aisles of Walmart, and all kinds of other incidents that will make you shake your head and question the direction of the human race.

Buuuuuut, you know and I know that we’re all probably still going to hit some different stores and check out the deals. Who are we kidding?

One thing, though: do your best not to get duped by retailers who are trying to get as much money as possible from you and everyone else on the planet. Keep in mind these ways that businesses get you to spend money on Black Friday when you head out shopping next week.

And good luck out there!

Black Friday is an American tradition that has spread across the globe. It’s the time of year were shops slash their prices, this has often created a feeling of hysteria among shoppers. Every year we see the pictures of people desperately scrapping to get the last TV or parents queuing for hours in the hope that they’ll be able to afford a really special present for their child. In the hopes we can make #blackfriday a little less stressful for our audience, we’ve set up a LIVE blog with all of the best deals that you can buy online. Avoid these chaotic scenes and take your time perusing online with a cup of tea and a biscuit and not pulling some poor woman’s hair because she snatched up the last robotic gizmo! Link in bio! Retailers will try to add “bonuses” to your purchases so you think you’re getting a great deal. For example, they might say you’ll “save more if you buy more” and up the ante for percentages off the more money you spend (10% off $50, 15% off $100, or 20% off $200). Sometimes, it can be hard to say “no” to perceived savings and deals…

2. Slippery coupons

Read the fine print if you’re given any coupons for Black Friday. Consumer analyst Julie Ramhold says, “Often these come with a ton of exclusions. If you’re having to hunt for something to apply it to, it’s probably not worth whatever savings you think you’re getting.”

3. Rebates galore!

Beware of rebates. There, I said it. A lot of businesses are betting on the fact that people will not actually take the time to fill out forms and mail in rebates, so a lot of people end up paying full price for something that they didn’t have to.

4. Doorbusters

Doorbusters are big discounts on products that are limited and first-come, first-serve for customers. That’s why people camp out overnight in front of stores and beat each other up once they actually get into the store.

The thinking goes that a lot of people will not get their hands on these limited products, BUT they’ll spend money on other products to justify their hours spent outside the store, which might have included an overnighter. Kind of brilliant…

5. Inflating the original prices

Black Friday is all about deals, right? HUGE deals! Well, maybe not…it turns out that a lot of businesses inflate their prices in the weeks leading up to Black Friday so people will think they are getting an enormous discount and it will seem all the more dramatic. So do a little research and see what the products you want cost throughout the year.

Are you going to go all-in on Black Friday, or will you sit back and wait until all the hoopla dies down?
