‘Game of Thrones’ Fans on Reddit Raised a Whole Lot of Money for Emilia Clarke’s Brain Injury Charity

Emilia Clarke has previously revealed that she had two life-threatening aneurysms while filming the hit show Game of Thrones. Emilia kept her health struggles a secret from fans for years. But now that her experiences are public knowledge, she’s using her platform for good.

Emilia started a charity, SameYou, to increase access to rehabilitative services after brain injury and stroke.

A Game of Thrones fan on Reddit started a fundraising campaign for SameYou in honor of Emilia. Over 5000 fans contributed to the campaign to raise over $130,000 in just two weeks.

Ok so ‘speechless’ is a very fluid term…. that I’ve ignored in this rambling video BUT how could I be when there are so many thank you’s to give to YOU AMAZING HUMAN BEANS!!!!! Bloody hell, I am one very lucky lady to have such kind, generous, shining spirited fans who are raising money for my chairty @sameyouorg Elle Elaria and your reddit page where you have raised almost £38,000 has made my day, week, month, year, decade, and I couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to wave goodbye to the mother of dragons than with this step towards making brain injury sufferers feel less alone. YOU ARE MY HEROS. I am the one who should be bending the knee to you. #loveinabundance #sameyoucharity #humanitywins #thisiswhatbraininjurylookslike #❤

After Emilia heard about the fundraiser, she posted a thank you video on Instagram.

“I’m so incredibly moved and blown away and grateful,” she said. “[The fundraising campaign] has made my day, week, month, year, decade, and I couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to wave goodbye to the Mother of Dragons than with this step towards making brain injury sufferers feel less alone.”

SameYou has officially surpassed its campaign goal.

The founder of the fundraiser, Redditor elle_ellaria, says she never expected her fundraiser to raise so much money.

“I truly thought this fundraiser peaked around 35k, so seeing it hit 100k and keep climbing just fills my heart with joy,” she told BuzzFeed News.

The fundraiser turned into a magical way to celebrate the end of Game of Thrones while also helping others.

A second fundraiser raised money in honor of Kit Harington for Mencap, a UK-based charity for learning disabilities. That fundraiser has raised over $53,000.

Twitter Thread Claims “Game of Thrones” Is Basically a Live-Action “Shrek”

Game of Thrones is over and done with – disappointingly, I might add. But as much of a let-down as this last season was for most fans, at least there was Twitter to commiserate with fellow fans and share blisteringly hot takes on the show in meme form.

So it was that Twitter gave us what might be one of the best GoT threads of all time: proof that Game of Thrones was basically a live-action Shrek.

Also? They’re not wrong.

From the explosions of green…

To comparing Shrek and Fiona to Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, they really nailed it.

Then there’s this almost shot-for-shot scene.

And the fact that they both left us guessing as to who was under that helmet?

Plus, you know. Dragons.

Things just get better from there.

I could go on (and on and on) but really, you’ll need to check out the thread for yourself in order to not miss anything!

What are you waiting for?

LEGO’s New “Stranger Things” Set Literally Goes to the Upside-Down

Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things will release its third season on July 4, 2019. The series has a pretty rabid fan base that can’t get enough of the show. They always want more – more merchandise, more news, more behind-the-scenes info.

JULY 4

A post shared by Stranger Things (@strangerthingstv) on

Well, ST fans, I’m here to share some good news with you. LEGO has teamed up with Netflix and launched a new toy set featuring 8 character figures, the Byers’ house…and the Upside Down.

Take a look at this, it’s pretty amazing.

You can see from the video above that the detail in this set is really extraordinary. The launch was announced at LEGO stores in London and New York City, and you can order the set from the LEGO online shop HERE. The set costs $199.99 and has 2,287 LEGO pieces.

You know you want a LEGO replica of Chief Hopper’s police cruiser, don’t even try to deny it.

This commercial for the Stranger Things LEGO set has a pretty awesome vintage, 1980s feel to it.

The Byers house is shown in incredible detail, with Will’s room all decked out, “Have you seen me?” flyers plastered on the walls, a dining room, and the alphabet wall from Season One (it lights up!) among other things. Then you can flip that house upside and get…The Upside Down! Which is totally awesome in its own right!

I bet you can’t wait to get your hands on this and play for days on end – am I right?

Are you excited for the new season of Stranger Things? What are your predictions? Sound off in the comments!

“The Simpsons” Accurately Predicted the End of “Games of Thrones” Years Ago (Among Other Things)

Game of Thrones is over, and most of the show’s fans are incredibly disappointed. Naturally, a lot of them have turned to other shows and the internet to try to find some kind of closure.

*spoilers* You have been warned.

One of the most shocking/frustrating moments of the last season was the second-to-last episode, The Bells. In a fit of somewhat inexplicable rage, Daenerys Stormborn and her dragon, Drogon, completely torch King’s Landing even after the citizens of the city had already surrendered. Dani goes on to slaughter thousands of innocent men, women, and children, along with her entire character arc.

The insane thing is, this carnage was predicted by The Simpsons back in 2017! It’s as if the show’s creators knew this was coming.

In this episode, “Serfsons” you’ll see Marge, Homer, Bart, and Lisa looking down over their city dressed in medieval clothing.

“Look,” says Bart, pointing out the massive red dragon burning down the city, “the dragon is burning our village.”

“I love our life,” Homer says.

Easy for Homer to say. He’s a cartoon! When this GoT episode aired we were all like, “I hate my life!” No? Just me?

Anyway, moving on. After the showed aired, Twitter immediately clapped back:

It seems The Simpsons have a knack for predicting the future. 18 times, actually! Like when the US beat Sweden in curling at the Olympic games (Episode “Boy Meets Curl”) and the Siegfried and Roy tiger attack (Episode “$pringfield”).

Check out a bunch of other things The Simpsons got right:

Pretty interesting…

“Game of Thrones” is Over, and People Have A LOT of Feelings About It

So, Game of Thrones just aired its series finale, and much like the rest of this last season, it had fans all up in their feelings. Some people loved it, a lot of folks hated it, and I personally felt the whole thing was very “meh.”

Without further ado, let’s see what the rest of the world had to say about it.

And the army is ready to fix things…

But will it REALLY fix anything?

Nothing epic about the finale except a Dragon getting angry

And yeah, why did Tyrion have so much sway?!

Gendry lookin damn good.

IT’S TRUE ?

We are all thinking the same thing…

I love a good Gendry rowing meme…

Did we mention we are NOT happy?

And yeah, we can keep waiting, but that’s it!

Wait… that’s REALLY it?

Yes, that was shit. I mean it.

Yes, this is what we waited for…

2 YEARS, to be exact…

Those books can’t come out fast enough…

We’re all broken now…

The “Game of Thrones” Finale Featured a Water Bottle, and We Can’t Stop Talking About It

Spoiler warning: this post contains several spoilers for the final season of Game of Thrones.

Ok, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to it.

Do you remember this ridiculous blunder?

Yeah, we all do. And HBO digitally removed the now infamous coffee cup so it’ll never show up in the series again.

But… yeah… you know it’s coming, so…

Yes, it’s real. It shows up at 46:19 in.

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it…

But here’s something fun… there’s a SECOND WATER BOTTLE in the scene!

OMFG you guys!

Needless to say, fans are not pleased…

No, not one bit…

Cersei would not be pleased…

But we guess this is our reality now…

The good news? No more of these snafus in the future! Because there are no more episodes to pick through.

Oh, but I bet somebody is going to go back and find a bunch of garbage just laying around in scenes from old episodes.

Good times.

4 of the Biggest Lies Told By HGTV

Just as doctors despise when patients quote WebMD or Grey’s Anatomy, and lawyers roll their eyes when someone brings up Law & Order (or one of the other 100 million legal dramas), real estate agents are having to bite their tongues and smile when people claim to know what they’re doing because they spend a lot of time watching HGTV.

Now, I watch a ton of HGTV. Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, House Hunters, Love It or List It – I’ve seen them all (and most of the episodes, too), and I know I’m guilty for thinking that I know about the biz because of it.

Which means I need to check out these 4 falsehoods perpetrated by television dramatizations of house hunting, just the same as the rest of y’all.

So, let’s do it.

#1. If everything isn’t exactly the way you want it, keep looking.

In reality, you’re probably not going to find a house that’s updated to the nines and within your budget, so keep in mind that you’ll probably live there for several years – enough time for you to make changes over time as you can afford them.

#2. You’ll only have to look at like 3 houses before you find “the one.”

If you’re not a first time home buyer, you likely know this already. My search took months and dozens of tours before a decision could be made.

#3. Renovations happen quickly.

The longest timeline I’ve seen on any of those shows is like 7 weeks to completely overhaul a house from the studs on up. In reality, those types of renovations can take months, or even years. Contractors are just not that into you, I promise.

#4. Going over your budget is no big deal.

It really is, and you and your co-buyer (if applicable) should sit down before you even start looking to determine what size mortgage you can afford without struggling down the road. (Just think back to 2009…)

All of a sudden I’m less pumped about moving later this year. Oh, well.
