These TV Moments Were All Really Dark

There are some television shows that we expect to be heavy and dark (Handmaid’s Tale, anyone) but there are others when certain moments seem to come out of nowhere and smack you right in the face.

Like these 17, which felt pretty unexpected for most fans!

All of the Muppets Have Their Own Twitter Accounts

The Muppets are timeless, hilarious, wholesome, and deserve all of the attention they’ve ever gotten.

Also, some of them have activated Twitter accounts, and if you’re on the social media platform and love a daily dose of laughter, you definitely need to be following these gems.

There’s Cookie Monster (my personal fav).

Oscar the Grouch (I can so relate to him!).

Pepe the King Prawn should never be overlooked….

And Fozzie Bear has bad jokes for dayyyyyyys.

Statler and Waldorf get funnier the older I get, I swear.

Ernie and Bert are the best roommates ever, don’t @ me.

Sure, Elmo can be annoying, but someone loving you every single day can’t be bad.

Abby Cadabby loves Mean Girls as much as you do. No, really.

For insight into life as a rat, why not give Rizzo a follow?

And Gonzo is full of puns, and I know I need that in my life.

Big Bird makes you smile…

And Kermit never lets you down.

Then there’s Piggy (obvious)…

And Grover, because adorably naive never gets old.

You’re welcome!

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ‘My So-Called Life’ with These 10 Facts

Believe it or not, it’s been 25 years since the still-popular TV show My So-Called Life, a heartfelt portrayal of the struggles of mid-1990s teenagers and their families, debuted on ABC.

While the show only lasted for 19 episodes, from August 25, 1994, until January 26, 1995, My So-Called Life left a permanent mark on pop culture history.

Here are 10 facts about the show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its premiere.

1. Alicia Silverstone was almost in the mix

Posted by Alicia Silverstone on Thursday, August 9, 2018

1990’s “It Girl” Alicia Silverstone almost played the lead role of Angela Chase, which eventually went to Claire Danes. Silverstone was deemed to be “too pretty” by Marshall Herskovitz, one of the executive producers of the show. He felt the character of Angela was too confused and awkward and Silverstone wasn’t the perfect fit for the role.

2. A big first

The character of Rickie Vasquez (played by Wilson Cruz) was the first openly gay teenager on American network television.

3. A different Jordan?

Jared Leto almost turned down the role of Jordan Catalano. The character was only supposed to appear in the pilot episode, but the producers realized they had something special with Leto and decided to make him a continuing character.

At the time, however, Leto was considering going to art school instead of acting, so he almost turned down the role. Good move.

4. Where’s Tino?

There is a running joke in the series about a character named Tino, who is mentioned over and over again, but is never seen.

5. A real school

Although the show takes place in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the show was actually shot at a real high school in Los Angeles: University High School

6. Voiceovers

Only two episodes in the series didn’t feature voiceovers by Angela Chase, played by Claire Danes. They were “Weekend,” which Danielle Chase narrated, and “Life of Brian,” which Brian Krakow narrated.

7. Save the show!

Fans were so rabid about My So-Called Life that they teamed up to try to save the show from being canceled. Operation Life Support was the first online fan campaign launched to try to save a TV show. ABC received thousands of letters from fans, but the show was ultimately canceled after 19 episodes.

8. Award winner

Claire Danes won a Golden Globe award for her role as Angela Chase for Best Actress in a Drama Television Series. She was only 15 years old at the time.

9. Best Dad Ever

Graham Chase (played by Tom Irwin) was named one of TV Guide’s “Top 50 TV Dads of All Time.” Not too shabby.

10. Tough competition

My So-Called Life was praised by critics, but the low ratings the show received ultimately sank the whole thing. Part of the issue was the competitive time slot the show was placed in – it aired on Thursday nights at 8pm EST, up against FriendsMad About You, and Martin.

10 Facts About Sophie Turner You Should Check out

Sophie Turner is HUGE right now. The 23-year-old actress became a household name on the HBO blockbuster Game of Thrones and since then she’s hit the big screen in X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men Dark Phoenix, playing Jean Grey.

She’s also married to singer Joe Jonas, and her profile is bigger than ever right now. But there’s still a lot you probably don’t know about the woman who brought the unforgettable character of Sansa Stark to life.

Here are 10 facts about her.

1. Working-class roots

View this post on Instagram

On #WorldChildrensDay it’s exciting for me to announce my collaboration with #LVforUNICEF to design a friendship bracelet. I want to explain the significance of the colors and also the charm that I designed. As we know, LV is known for being a brand all about travel and so the brands identity itself is important when collaborating with a charity that is prevalent all over the world. It’s all about bringing people together. I wanted my bracelet to hold luck for all the children whom the proceeds from this bracelet go to. So I wanted to integrate the idea of luck and also inclusion of many countries and cultures. I wanted to have the braids made of two colours; red and white. Red is considered a lucky colour in China. And the white coincides with my idea for having the little circular charm on the bracelet, a rabbit. A. Because WHITE rabbits are considered very lucky in the UK and a rabbit foot is considered lucky in many parts of Europe, China, Africa, North and South America. It also has a little bit of me on there because I have the same rabbit designed tattooed on my arm by @curtmontgomerytattoos #MAKEAPROMISE ? ✈ ?

A post shared by Sophie Turner (@sophiet) on

Although Turner is now a huge Hollywood star, she comes from a working-class family in Chesterton, Warwickshire, England. Her mother was a teacher and her father worked for a company that delivered pallets to warehouses.

2. In the mud

She was well-prepared for all the mud and muck on the set of Game of Thrones. Turner said, “My childhood was pretty fun. We had pigsties, barns, and a paddock, and used to muck around in the mud.”

3. Big screen jump

Her big-screen debut was in 2013 with the independent thriller Another Me. Her co-stars included Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Claire Forlani, and Rhys Ifans.

4. Competition

In order to land the role of Jean Grey in the X-Men movies, Turner had to beat out many other actresses who were considered for the role, including Elle Fanning, Hailee Steinfeld, Saoirse Ronan, and Margot Robbie.

5. That’s strange…

Posted by Sophie Turner on Saturday, June 15, 2019

Turner takes over the Jean Grey role from actress Famke Janssen, and the two surprisingly have a few things in common. Neither are natural redheads and they’re both exactly one inch taller than the actor who plays their love interest, Cyclops.

Tye Sheridan is 5’8” and Sophie Turner is 5’9”. James Marsden is 5’10”, while Janssen is 5’11”

6. Inked

Turner and her Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams are very close offscreen. So much so that they have matching tattoos. They both have “07.08.09” tattoos, which is the date they both learned they were cast on the hit show.

7. Furry friend

No, direwolves don’t really exist – but during the filming of GOT, Turner fell so in love with the Northern Inuit dog playing her direwolf on the show that she ended up adopting the pup, whose name is Zunni.

8. Slide into my DMs

It’s hard to get away from social media these days, and that even applies to big Hollywood stars. Turner and Joe Jonas had a few friends on Instagram and Jonas decided to direct message her for a chat one evening. And the rest is history…

9. Take some time off

The final season of GOT received mixed reviews from fans and critics, and Turner took the negative criticism very personally. She took it so hard that she revealed it had caused her major depression and in the spring of 2019 she would take a break from acting.

10. A young star

Turner has been interested in acting from a very young age. She joined a well-known children’s theater company when she was only 3-years-old.

She’s a lifer!

This Couple Rode Every Ride at Disney World – Without a Fast Pass

You’re probably asking yourself, ‘How did these two pull off this amazing feat?’ Well, we’re going to explain that to you right now.

If you’ve ever set foot on Disney World’s property, you know that you have to navigate a sea of humanity. It’s PACKED with people pretty much all the time.

But Shane Lindsay and Kristina Hawkins somehow managed to pull off the incredible achievement of riding all 46 rides at Disney World during a recent visit. And they did it all in 18 hours without FastPasses.

The couple knew the odds were against them, but they couldn’t resist. Lindsay started the Parkeology Challenge, a competition that calls for participants to ride every ride at the four Orlando theme parks (The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom).

Lindsay and Hawkins documented their stop on every ride on Twitter. They began their quest in the Magic Kingdom at 7:51 a.m. on a Wednesday morning and completed their excellent adventure just before closing time at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday. They said their longest wait was an hour long for Animal Kingdom’s Flight of Passage.

The Parkeology Challenge was created in 2014 and since then only 6% of the 325 teams that have dared to try have completed the mission. Lindsay and Hawkins have completed the challenge before, but this was the first time they did it without a FastPass or a MagicBand, which allow you to skip over those neverending lines of people waiting to get onto rides.

Hawkins said of the experience and resulting viral attention, “It’s mostly just Disney street cred, I would say. It was almost like we broke the internet, the Disney internet, everyone was freaking out.”

Impressive! A job well done!
