A Creative Fan Edited ‘The Mandalorian’ into a 1980s Sitcom

On top of all its old material, the new steaming network Disney+ has also given us The Mandalorian.

The show stars Pedro Pascal as…the Mandalorian. If you don’t know, that’s a sort of bounty hunter like Boba Fett in the original Star Wars movies. Chronology-wise, the show takes part after the fall of the Empire but before the formation of the First Order.

Pascal’s bounty hunter has somewhat dubious morals, but the show could also be viewed as about an overstretched father trying to make sense of life as he struggles to care for his newly-adopted (green) child.

We’re talking about Baby Yoda, here.

Memes have already made Baby Yoda famous, and so it was only a matter of time until someone reimagined the show as a 1980s sitcom about a father and son.

Fan Gareth Wood did a great job editing footage from the show with the goofy energy of the 1980s sitcoms some of us grew up watching.

Considering that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released in 1983, the theme song and mood of this edit makes total sense. The video features upbeat music and a simple but bold font. Check it out!

A Guy Got a Tattoo of Baby Yoda Drinking a White Claw

This is where we’re at right now as a society, apparently…

2019 sure has been a strange year, hasn’t it?

Do you think in a few years, this fella is going to regret this tattoo? Time will tell, I guess…

But let’s move on to this uniquely American, uniquely 2019 tattoo. A guy named Brock McLaughlin saw a scene of Baby Yoda drinking his tea in an episode of the new Disney+ show The Mandalorian and at that instant, he knew.

He knew he needed to tattoo Baby Yoda on his body – and he also knew that the little creature needed to be drinking…wait for it…a White Claw.

McLaughlin said, “As someone who works in Marketing I was fascinated by the cult of White Claw and how the [drink] dominated the conversation this summer. Baby Yoda and White Claw together just seemed like the perfect combination.”

Let’s take a look at some of the reactions people had on social media, shall we?

Even the folks at White Claw had to reply.

McLaughlin added, “My friends love it, at least that’s what they tell me to my face. My girlfriend is supportive which is how I know she’s a keeper.” She must be quite a lady…

Hallmark Christmas Movies Are so Popular Because People Want an Escape from Everyday Life

The older I get, the more mindless entertainment I tend to watch to relax at the end of a long day (or a long week). I definitely don’t always need to watch something dark and thought-provoking anymore to give my brain a workout.

That’s why I’ve watched Air Bud: Golden Receiver 75 times this year…is that weird?

But back to the point…

Part of the reason why Hallmark Christmas movies are insanely popular is that people want to escape the everyday stresses of life and our current news cycle, which, let’s be honest, isn’t very positive or uplifting. Tens of millions of viewers watch Hallmark Christmas movies, and the Hallmark Channel has already hit record-breaking numbers in 2019 since their “Countdown to Christmas” programming kicked off on October 25.

One woman who is a huge fan of the Hallmark Christmas movies said, “It’s just something to watch that’s mindless and doesn’t stress you out. It’s not political. It’s something somebody can watch and just be happy about, something that can take your mind off the world for a little bit.”

According to Michelle Vicary, the executive vice president of programming and network publicity for Crown Media Family Networks, which owns the Hallmark Channel,

“People need to feel good. They need to feel positive. There’s so much good television that is dark, edgy, and fantastic. But in the huge spectrum of the human experience, things can also turn out okay. Life can be good and life can be positive, and people need that too. That’s where we come in and that’s where our brand comes in and delivers on an emotional experience that says, ‘You know what, things are going to turn out okay, and you’re good and life is good.’”

Perkins said, “The response has been incredible, and it was so much fun creating the images,” she said. “I have met some amazing families in the process and I’m so glad to see the joy the images of their children has brought to so many people.”

“Pinch of Grinch” Cookies Will Be on Shelves During the Holidays

I LOVE the type of holiday-themed food and drinks that only come out for special occasions. It doesn’t matter if it’s for Halloween, Easter, 4th of July, Valentine’s Day: if it’s fun and only available for a limited time, I’m all in.

And there have been a whole lot of these products to choose from this year. Of course, there is the now-annual tradition of the phenomenon known as the Pumpkin Spice Latte…what was life like before it?!?!

This year, we’ve also seen an IHOP menu full of spooky treats and a jet-black Icee drink at AMC Theaters in conjunction with the release of the new, animated version of The Addams Family. You know, fun stuff…

Well, I have some great news for you if you agree with me on this front: Pinch of Grinch cookies for the holiday season! The green sugar cookie dough is topped with a red heart. Yummy!

The packs from Nestlé Toll House cost $2.99 and will be on the shelves at Target, Kroger, and other select retailers.

Each package contains 20 pre-cut cookies, so all you have to do is pop these babies in the oven and you’ll be munching on these green treats in no time.

Hopefully, the Grinch himself approves as well…but you never know with that fella…

UPDATE: It seems that Nestlé recalled many of their products recently, so the Pinch of Grinch cookie dough is not currently in stores. So we’ll all just have to see how this situation plays out…

Tom Hanks Discovered That Mister Rogers Is His Cousin

Call it a twist of fate or destiny, but actor Tom Hanks recently found out that and Fred Rogers (aka the beloved Mister Rogers who spent decades entertaining children on public television) are sixth cousins.

Ancestry.com revealed the information, to which Hanks said, “It all just comes together, you see.”

The news is particularly interesting because Hanks plays Fred Rogers in the recently-released film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which details the friendship that developed between Rogers and a journalist named Tom Junod who wrote an article about the television host for Esquire magazine in 1998.

An Ancestry.com spokesperson said, “Fred Rogers and Tom Hanks are sixth cousins sharing the same 5x great-grandfather … who immigrated from Germany to America in the 18th century.”

Hanks’ wife, Rita Wilson, said, “No, impossible! You’re pulling our leg.”

It only makes sense that one of America’s favorite actors would play one of the country’s most-beloved public figures…and be related to him. What are the chances?

Fred Rogers hosted Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood from 1968 until 2001, focusing on themes of kindness, charity, and being a good friend and neighbor to everyone. Rogers died in 2003 at the age of 74, but his legacy and continues to inspire people all over the world.

Rogers is so well-regarded that there is now a holiday honoring him in his native Pennsylvania every May 23.
