Usually, you hear about all of the great, amazing, above-and-beyond stuff that teachers do in service of our kids’ educations every single day.
Let’s hear some shitty teacher stories, go off pic.twitter.com/LSMNryfLCB

In every job, though, you will find the people who are definitely in it for the wrong reasons, and it’s appalling to read about the kind of damage they can do.
We’re supposed to be able to trust our teachers, but these 10 kids found out far too early that’s not always true.
10. Why do some people think they know better than doctors?
Like…so many people.
i had a gym teacher that ignored my doctor’s certificates every year explaining that i couldn’t do some exercises because of my scoliosis and forced me to do them anyway threatening me to not let me pass her class if i “didn’t at least try” pic.twitter.com/zZ9ol1PwRj

9. It’s called consequences.
No sympathy here.
Mine was a public school where the sub who called a group of black kids “cotton picking n***” got off without even a warning from the school. It was the students who punished her by bringing her to tears a few days later.

8. Ask her how many languages she speaks.
I’m guessing one.
Ugh… I had an English teacher tell me that I would never get an “excellence” for my essays because English is my second language. pic.twitter.com/c06MRZiBuk

7. I’d say that earns the kid a pass.
That teacher should get his or her a$s kicked.
Had an English teacher tell some kid in our class (mid teens) “Look we all know your parents died this year but that’s no excuse for your attitude”
He was simply talking in class. Everyone was mortified. The kid was crushed.

6. I would like to smack this lady straight upside her head.
How many Black kids have similar experiences?
In 2and grade my very racist teacher told me “Black people cannot do math.” I was shy and the only black child in the class. I was already intimidated by this old bat and it took years to get over my math phobia because of that experience.

5. What on earth is this nonsense?
Except truly awful?
Upon hearing my Dad had died 2 years earlier in his bed of status epilepticus and his heart issue, a Religious Instruction teacher told my 8-yo self and my entire class that “people who die in bed go to Hell.”
Apparently ’cause dying in bed makes one “slothful”!

4. I wonder if she brought some aloe for the burn?
This had to be so satisfying.
A theater teacher once told me I would never make it in the industry and would certainly never be offered a lead role. I invited her to a production of Three Sisters where I was playing Irina later on.

3. Both of these are bad.
Only one is criminal, though.
Grade school: teacher who physically abused me, broke my arm, threatened me & my family. College: instructor who told me that despite my work in class being “A” quality, he was giving me a “D” because I had a job, & didn’t think people who had to work should go to college.

2. What a trash human.
Throw him away.
I graduated in 2011 and he was once one of my favorite teachers. He started out trying to give me life advice, but then kept bothering me about going for a ride in his convertible. He eventually retired, but I wonder how many other girls in my class this creep hit on pic.twitter.com/PqN8PqTKjP

1. It’s disgusting.
I’m sad that it’s also not uncommon.
Had a high school teacher tell us during our law course while we watched the Rodney King video that sometimes police officers react that way, and it’s normal post chase…

I want to find some of these people and slap them silly!
Share your terrible teacher story with us in the comments – I want to be BIG mad.
