My Girlfriend in Walk

For those who would like to hold someone’s hand as they walk around, but can’t find anyone human who will oblige, engineers at Gifu University in Japan have invented the “My Girlfriend in Walk”. It’s a robotic hand covered in soft, skin-like gel that will grip your hand. Plus, it emits the scent of a […]

Japanese Engineers Have Built a Real Life Gundam That Walks

Earlier this year, Gundam Factory Yokohama began construction on a 60-foot tall robot. This summer, the team revealed that their Gundam is nearly complete, and that the robot can even walk.

If you are unfamiliar, Gundams have appeared in over 50 films and television shows since the 1970s, and the robots are endlessly popular in video games and manga.

The films Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising are even about Gundams that are used in a war against monsters that rise from the sea.

While the global health crisis definitely slowed down production, the team has been able to resume their work.

In a recently released video, you can see that the Gundam is able to pick up its legs and rotate its torso. Once the project is complete, the robot will be able to walk totally on its own.

The team has been filming and sharing videos that track the progress of the project. In one, viewers are taken on a tour of the factory where the Gundam was built.

The factory is home to quite a few projects, including one that is dinosaur-themed.

This particular Gundamn is only 25 tons, which sounds like a lot but isn’t when you consider how heavy a robot like this could have been.

Jun Narita, who is in charge of design at the factory, noted that the team used specific materials to keep the Gundam as lightweight as possible. Otherwise, one hand could have weighed 1,500 pounds on its own.

This is definitely a really exciting development, and it will be fun to see what the team uses the Gundam for. What do you think of the project? Let us know in the comments!

This Guy Shared a Hilarious ‘John Wick’ Script…Written by Bots

Comedy writer Keaton Patti must have a lot of spare time on his hands.

In the past, he forced a bot to watch over 1,000 hours of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and then had the bot write a new “Triple D” episode based on what it saw.

He also gave Olive Garden commercials the same treatment last year.

(Pro tip: That’s the place you bring your family when they’re in town from Italy, FYI.)

Well, Mr. Patti has struck again!

This time, Patti forced a bot to watch more than 1,000 hours of John Wick footage (I’m assuming just the two available films on an endless loop) and then a new, original screenplay emerged.

Let’s take a closer look at that first page of the screenplay.

Can you fire a horse like a gun? No. But John Wick can.

Looks like a pretty intense opening for a potential new John Wick film if you ask me.

Of course, he tweeted this out just in case. Hey, you never know, right?

As you can probably imagine, this new bot-written script was quite a hit on Twitter.

Because why would we not love things written by computers?

One thing’s for sure, robots will not be taking over the world anytime soon.

Truly epic! The man is a genius!

What would you like to see him force the bots to do next?

I’m thinking a reinterpretation of Road House

Boston Dynamics’ Robot Dogs Have Start Working Together, and I’m VERY Concerned

We previously brought you an article about ONE robot dog from Boston Dynamics that appeared so lifelike it gave all of us the heebie-jeebies.

Well apparently that was just a warm-up.

Because Boston Dynamics recently released a video of 10 of the company’s robot dogs pulling a truck, so you can view at a slightly unsettling vision of what the future might look like.

Not only is the visual pretty frightening, but the thud-thud-thud of the 40 robotic dog legs pounding the pavement adds to the creepiness.

Boston Dynamics said, “These Spot robots are coming off the production line now and will be available for a range of applications soon.” Uh oh, now I’m really scared.

Watch the video below and FEAR FOR THE FUTURE.

Life is turning more into a sci-fi movie by the day…

This is the new version of Affetto…

This is the new version of Affetto, the robot child head that’s a testbed for synthetic facial expressions. According to the Osaka University researchers who birthed Affeto, their goal is to “offer a path for androids to express greater ranges of emotion, and ultimately have deeper interaction with humans.” 00
