These Before and After Animal Adoption Pics Will Melt Your Heart

About a year ago, my parents rescued a dog from a local rescue. They hadn’t had a dog in the house in over five years since their last one had passed away, and I think they were a little bit nervous about it.

But Coco has been an absolute delight and my parents absolutely love her to pieces!

It just goes to show you how much love and happiness that animals bring into our homes.

Are you ready to meet some rescue animals that will melt your heart? Let’s take a look!

1. Fred’s getting fat!

And that’s a good thing!

When I found Fred on the side of the road he was skittish, neurotic, and sweet as could be. One month later he’s still all those things, but now he’s fat too. Love him more every day. from BeforeNAfterAdoption

2. Don’t get a pet if you don’t “want to deal with it anymore.”

But we’re glad that Dooby is now living his best life.

This is my precious little man, Dobby. He was dumped off at a shot clinic. The owner said she did not want to “deal with him anymore“. I cannot imagine the pain that he was in. He has made a miraculous recovery and is a very special little guy! from BeforeNAfterAdoption

3. Rescued from the streets.

This one was a major turnaround.

Phoenix was rescued from the streets and was covered in hot tar. Little over a month later, he looks amazing, he loves humans and is ready to enter a loving home ? from BeforeNAfterAdoption

4. We’re going to take care of you.

And we’ll keep you safe.

When we met her in the shelter my daughter immediately started whispering in her ear “your okay, we’ll take you home and keep you safe, we love you already” from BeforeNAfterAdoption

5. Now you can relax and enjoy yourself.

Look at how calm she is in her new home.

After 4 years in the street, Annie found her home with my parents. First day vs 1 week later from aww

6. Keep losing those pounds.

Way to go, Shiloh!

Fed junk food and never given any exercise her whole life, Shiloh couldn’t walk more than 10 meters before having to stop and rest. 3 months later, she’s lost 30 pounds and can walk over 1 km without stopping! from BeforeNAfterAdoption

7. What a good boy!

Clearly enjoying his new home.

This is Edgar before and after getting adopted. (My first shelter pup, Steve, is in the back there.) from BeforeNAfterAdoption

8. A heart of gold.

Bringing joy to her owners every single day.

After surviving severe neglect, heartworm and mange, Waffle still has a heart of gold and loves everyone she meets. She makes us smile everyday! from BeforeNAfterAdoption

9. Who the hell would do this?

People are really terrible sometimes.

My next-door neighbors abandoned their dog and got a new puppy. She was in the shelter for a full month before I realized what happened. This is Missy in the shelter, and when she realized she’s never going back. from BeforeNAfterAdoption

10. Look at this transformation.

Hello, Midnight!

My Midnight’s transformation from BeforeNAfterAdoption

11. He loves taking car rides!

And he’s loving his life now!

Ride from the shelter VS. Ride for fun from BeforeNAfterAdoption

12. Saved from underneath a car.

You did a good thing. Bravo!

One year ago, Jake was found underneath a car, alone and half frozen. He was 4 weeks old and his mom was gone. Now he’s the biggest kitty with the most personality that I’ve ever met. from BeforeNAfterAdoption

I can’t get enough of these pics!

And now we want to hear from you.

In the comments, please share some photos of your furry friends.

Thanks in advance!

This Man Takes in Dogs No One Wants, Now Runs a Shelter with 750 Dogs

I love a wholesome story about animals and this one certainly checks all the boxes.

In the city of Niš, Serbia, a man named Sasha Pesic has been running a shelter for dogs since 2008. Pesic originally came up with the plan for the sanctuary after he discovered four abandoned puppies on his way home from work one night. Pesic enlisted six volunteers and opened a shelter in Niš to feed and give dogs a home. He runs his shelter from contributions and donations from around the globe.

In addition to feeding and sheltering the dogs, Pesic sterilizes them, vaccinates them, and microchips them. Today, the shelter has roughly 750 dogs. Here’s a video of Pesic rescuing some abandoned pooches.

Pesic’s shelter has taken in about 1,200 dogs over the years, and roughly 400 of them have been adopted by people around the world. Pesic said, “I receive zero assistance from the government and some vets are actually charging me more than regular prices because they think I have a lot of money from donations. I’m all on my own and I cover the veterinary treatment and everything necessary out of donations and my own pocket.”

He added, “These dogs just need a little love, food and care, many come to the shelter sad and scared but in time their joy is returned.”

Let’s take a look a video of Pesic’s shelter.

Finally, take a look at Sasha’s Patreon page and consider donating some of your money to this wonderful cause. I love this story!

This Beer Company Puts Dog Photos on Cans to Help Them Get Adopted

It’s so sad to think about how many abandoned, stray, homeless animals there are across the country. Dogs and cats that are just waiting to find a safe, warm, loving home where they can live out their days in peace and comfort.

And while there are countless shelters and organizations doing great work out there in regard to rescuing and adopting animals, there’s always room for more help, right? Damn right, there is. Fargo Brewing Company in North Dakota recently joined forces with a local animal shelter called 4 Luv of Dog to create beer cans featuring perfect pooches who are looking to get adopted.

Please join us Monday, November 4th at 5pm for a very special Not-For-Profit event with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue! For this event we have packaged our Fargo Original Lager into 6 packs of cans where each individual can is labeled to highlight a different “Oneder” Dog! These Oneder dogs are special pups who have had a particularly hard time finding their forever home. Some of these dogs, while being great with people, have a hard time socializing with other dogs and therefore don’t get to come to foster puppy meet & greets which makes it difficult for people to get to know how great they really are! It’s our hope that through this event we can raise a little awareness about these “one”derful pooches and hopefully find them homes of their own! Proceeds from this event will benefit @4luvofdogrescue so please come join us in support this very worth cause for paws!

The dogs featured on the six-pack of cans are referred to as “Oneders” because they have had a harder time getting adopted due to socializing issues with other canines. On their Facebook page, Fargo Brewing Company said, “It’s our hope that through this event we can raise a little awareness about these ‘one’derful pooches and hopefully find them homes of their own!”

The pups featured on the six-pack are Nyx, Bizzy, Jensen, Hobie, Moby, and Virginia.

The idea for the collaboration came from a man named Jerad Ryan who volunteers at the dog shelter and also works at a company that produces beer labels. Ryan said,

“I approached my boss about donating beer can labels to a brewery willing to feature our dogs. He loved the idea. I asked Fargo Brewing if they would be willing to do this for us and they loved it too. They have gone above and beyond with donating profits and having an event where the public can come and meet our Oneder dogs, as they don’t get to attend events with the other dogs. The response from the community has already been amazing and heartwarming.”

An 89-Year-Old Woman Generously Knits Blankets for Shelter Dogs

If you’re a dog lover like me, it often hurts our hearts that we can only save so many of the good girls and boys who need homes and humans to love them. People who volunteer for shelters have the biggest hearts of all – seeing and assuaging suffering every single day and knowing the entire time that there’s only so much they can do.

When an English dog shelter, Dogs Trust, put out a call a few years ago for knitted dog coats, 89-year-old Maisie Green answered with gusto.

“Nifty with needles or handy with a crochet hook? We’re calling all crafty types to contribute home-made dog coats for our Hope Project Christmas hampers,” said the Dogs Trust Facebook page.

She’s been bringing in home-knitted blankets and coats three times a year for the past three years – around a dozen each time (around 450 total) – and has no plans to stop.

“I love knitting and I love dogs, so this combines both wonderfully! It takes me three days to knit a blanket and one day to knit a doggy coat. It keeps me busy and often, I like to knit whilst watching television. I’m delighted to be helping the four-legged residents at the center in some way,” Green said.

The dogs are happy, Maisie is happy, and the shelter is happy, too.

“Maisie regularly brings along her knitted donations and we are so grateful for her support. With the chill of the winter months really starting to creep up on us, I know our dogs are very pleased to put the items to good use – and love feeling extra cosy!” said the rehoming manager at Dogs Trust.

A win, win, win – and a bunch of too-cute pictures to boot!
