You have to admit that the world is kind of a HUGE dumpster fire right now.
Not only are we going through a once-in-a-lifetime health crisis, but we have killer hornets to deal with, incompetent politicians, and all kinds of other bad news on a daily basis.
But did you know that in the past, people and even some pop culture icons predicted what would happen in 2020?
You don’t believe me?
Here are some examples that we think you will find very surprising.
By the way, don’t drink the bleach.

Steve Jobs was truly a one-of-kind businessman. The co-founder of Apple was a visionary who helped change the way we work, play, and live. And Jobs made some predictions in the 1980s and 1990s that may have seemed far-fetched at the time, but it turns out he absolutely nailed it.
Here are some examples of the foresight that Jobs had years before these things became a reality.
The iPad wasn’t launched by Apple until 2010, but all the way back in 1983 at the International Design Conference in Aspen, Jobs talked about “an incredibly great computer in a book that you can carry around with you that you that you can learn in five minutes.”
Before Siri and Alexa became household items, Jobs said this…in 1984: “The next stage is going to be computers as ‘agents. In other words, it will be as if there’s a little person inside that box who starts to anticipate what you want. Rather than help you, it will start to guide you through large amounts of information. It will almost be like you have a little friend inside that box.”
Sound familiar?
Those “agents” Jobs talked about? Jobs said they would evolve. “I’ve always thought it would be really wonderful to have a little box, a sort of slate that you could carry along with you.”
Sounds like an iPhone to me.
Jobs really nailed this prediction. In 1984, he said, “You’d get one of these things maybe when you were 10 years old, and somehow you’d turn it on and it would say, you know, ‘Where am I?’ And you’d somehow tell it you were in California and it would say, ‘Oh, who are you?’”
In 1995, Steve Jobs predicted that the newly-flourishing Internet would allow startup companies to compete with established companies because they’d be able to sell directly to consumers. He said, “it’s very exciting because it is going to destroy vast layers of our economy and make available a presence in the marketplace for very small companies, one that is equal to very large companies.”
Sadly, Jobs passed away in 2011 at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer, but he sure did accomplish a lot while he was alive.

Ready for a “polar coaster” this winter? Yeah, I don’t think I am, either. But we all better get prepared because that’s what the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting for the winter of 2020, along with a lot of snow and “frigid” and “freezing” temperatures. Great…
The editor of the Farmer’s Almanac, Peter Geiger, said, “Our extended forecast is calling for yet another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country.” Last year’s prediction from the Almanac called for a long winter with a lot of snow and that turned out to be right on the money.

— Woman's Day (@WomansDay) August 31, 2019
This year, the forecast says that people who live east of the Rocky Mountains all the way to the Appalachians will endure a particularly brutal winter with below-average temperatures and above-normal precipitation. The East Coast is also likely to see a mix of rain, sleet, and snow.
Folks who live in the western-third of the United States can expect a normal, mild winter with average temperatures and precipitation. The coldest temperatures of the year are predicted to occur in late January, affecting millions of Americans across the Northern Plains all the way to the Great Lakes. In other words, it’s going to be a long, cold winter.
"[T]his winter will be filled with so many ups and downs on the thermometer, it may remind you of a 'Polar Coaster,'" the Farmers' Almanac website says https://t.co/T2ae17jd7H
— CNN (@CNN) August 27, 2019
Of course, we all know that weather predictions are never 100% accurate and there might be some wiggle room here, but it seems like this will be a pretty good indication of what the winter of 2020 will look like.
It might be time to move to California…

A roman scholar predicted microbiology over 2000 years ago, writing “there are bred certain minute creatures which cannot be seen by the eyes, but which float in the air and enter the body through the mouth and nose and cause serious diseases.”
Game of Thrones is over, and most of the show’s fans are incredibly disappointed. Naturally, a lot of them have turned to other shows and the internet to try to find some kind of closure.
*spoilers* You have been warned.
One of the most shocking/frustrating moments of the last season was the second-to-last episode, The Bells. In a fit of somewhat inexplicable rage, Daenerys Stormborn and her dragon, Drogon, completely torch King’s Landing even after the citizens of the city had already surrendered. Dani goes on to slaughter thousands of innocent men, women, and children, along with her entire character arc.
The insane thing is, this carnage was predicted by The Simpsons back in 2017! It’s as if the show’s creators knew this was coming.
In this episode, “Serfsons” you’ll see Marge, Homer, Bart, and Lisa looking down over their city dressed in medieval clothing.
“Look,” says Bart, pointing out the massive red dragon burning down the city, “the dragon is burning our village.”
“I love our life,” Homer says.
Easy for Homer to say. He’s a cartoon! When this GoT episode aired we were all like, “I hate my life!” No? Just me?
Anyway, moving on. After the showed aired, Twitter immediately clapped back:
The simpsons wtf !!!!

It seems The Simpsons have a knack for predicting the future. 18 times, actually! Like when the US beat Sweden in curling at the Olympic games (Episode “Boy Meets Curl”) and the Siegfried and Roy tiger attack (Episode “$pringfield”).

Stephen King is the undisputable master of macabre, and one of the most brilliant storytellers of our times. He’s also a huge fan of Game of Thrones, and decided to share his own theory about how the show should have wrapped up prior to the airing of the show’s series finale.
Considering he’s a guy who has authored over 50 novels and is legit buddies with George RR Martin, it’s probably worth listening to what he has to say.
Suppose–just suppose, now–that Jon and Dani BOTH died (along with Cersei, of course). Suppose–just suppose–that a certain little man with a big heart ended up sitting on the Iron Throne?
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) May 6, 2019
And before anybody has anything to say, King already has the clap back ready…
Of course for years some people have told me I don’t know how to end a story. I call bullshit on that, but everyone has an opinion.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) May 6, 2019
Now, the internet had a few thoughts… and this is earlier on when Cersei was still alive, so there was one prediction that King responded to.
First, the tweet…
I’m thinking just maybe Sansa Stark might show up and Kill Cersei as she I feel has the most history and hate for this woman
— jules rules (@jazzyjules69) May 6, 2019
Then King’s response…
That would be good, but man, Sansa is COLD. https://t.co/EjN69pUwYS
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) May 6, 2019
We know that’s bullshit now that Sansa stayed put in Winterfell and Arya almost got killed by Dany’s and Drogon’s reign of fire and blood.
Still there are some other crazy theories that have no basis in reality that are fun to read…
Some thing Arya will still be the one…
Dani will ascend to the iron throne. In the final moments of the show it will be revealed that it’s actually Arya wearing her face.
— Parallax (@parallax2020) May 6, 2019
And some want Baratheon’s bastard to ascend…
Gendry for the win pic.twitter.com/6EjCZWfves
— reannabowdenxx (@reannabowdenxx) May 6, 2019
Some had praise for King’s ending…
Stephen King doesn’t know how to end a story? The man who wrote the most elegant ending possible for the Dark Tower series? The man who gave us Doctor Sleep and the resolution to a 30-year story cycle? Yeah, that’s bullshit. Mr. King, even your Tweets have satisfying endings.

In 1898, Morgan Robertson wrote a novel about an ocean liner sinking in the North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg. That is 14 years before the Titanic sunk in the same place and in the same way. And if this was not enough, the novel was titled: “The Wreck of the Titan: Or, Futility”. The […]
