Take a Look at Photos of the Real Serial Killers in ‘Mindhunter’ and the Actors Who Portrayed Them

The second season on the hit show Mindhunter dropped on Netflix in August and fans are pretty happy about how the new episodes turned out.

The show is based on true events surrounding how the FBI established their behavioral science unit in the 1970s to study serial killers and other murderers. In real life, as in the show, the investigators interviewed serial killers to try to learn how their minds worked, back when “serial killer” was a new concept.

Here are photos of the real-life killers and the actors who portray them in the show.

Away from Manson, Tex Watson’s ambitions were growing. “I decided to call up an old girl friend… Her name was Luella {a pseudonym} and I'd gotten to know her casually while Rich and I were still living at the house on the beach. During the week we were waiting for our army physicals, he'd taken me to see her once and… I felt she'd been especially friendly to me that day. Right now I needed a friend. I got a lover. The first time I hitchhiked over to her apartment I ended up moving in. Luella… didn't have a real job; she kept herself going by dealing a little grass and LSD among her friends – nothing big time but enough to get by. She had an old Hollywood-Spanish apartment with eucalyptus trees all around and a patio that overlooked the driveway to an exclusive private club for professional magicians and entertainment stars. Sometimes we'd sunbathe on the deck, drinking beer and smoking grass while we watched all the big limousines drive up for parties, dumping out beautiful people whom we could never quite recognize. It was an easy life that Luella and I fell into. Combining her contacts with mine, we found we could sell a lot more dope than she'd been doing on her own…" It certainly sounds like Watson thought of himself as a drug dealer. In just a few months, he and ‘Louella’ (real name Rosina Kroner) would aim for a big score, with disastrous effects.

Here Are Some Quick Tips for Capturing Those Cool Blurred Background Photos on Your iPhone

All of us want to take that perfect photo with our iPhone, especially those super-sharp portraits with the blurred background where your subject appears to be professionally shot. For all you budding photographers out there, here are three easy ways to make your photo skills the envy of your friends (even if you don’t own a new phone with a great camera).

3. Portrait Mode

This is the simplest method. If you have an iPhone X, XR, XS, or XS Max or an iPhone 7 or 8 Plus, you should have a Portrait Mode feature.

Open up your handy camera app, swipe until you find “Portrait” and simply position your subject within the limits of the lens. It will tell you if you need to move closer or farther away. When the words “Natural Light” appear, then you are set to snap at your heart’s content!

2. Position your subject just right – For older iPhones

Place your subject within a few feet of the lens. A yellow box should appear, tap it and the lens will be forced to focus on the object, leaving the background out of focus. Just move closer or farther away until the background fully blurs. You can also tap an object and hold on it to force the camera to lock into focus on it. Then it will keep the same focus, even if you or your subject moves.

1. Third-Party Apps

Sometimes, older iPhones just aren’t capable of capturing that desired blur. Therefore, we recommend trying out a third-party app that performs this feature. There are free apps available (like Blur Photo Background) or paid ones with better features (like AfterFocus). Either way, try some out!

16 People Share the Movies That Made Them Get up and Walk out of the Theater

I’ve walked out of a couple movies in my day. It’s always a disappointing experience.

These 16 people were not prepared for what they were about to see on the big screen, though, and they couldn’t stomach another minute.

I mean, props for knowing your limits, though!

16. House of Wax

“I really like scary and suspenseful movies, but I’m not big on gore. The movie started out so promising! It had such a creepy vibe, but then people started pulling off their flesh, cutting Achilles’ tendons, and chopping off fingers and I couldn’t take it. I felt so sick to my stomach and our whole group walked out of the theater.” —jillianb41aa6236f

15. Revenge

“I went into it not knowing how physically painful it would be. I was already watching through my fingers but after Jen hit the tree and was impaled, I had to go sit on the bathroom floor for ten minutes to recover.” —alexn470fbb66a

13. I Am Legend

“I walked out when Neville’s dog gets infected. I was 13 years old at the time. The whole movie was stressful for me but I just couldn’t handle that part. My family stayed to watch and I sat outside weeping.” —stellardakt

12. Child’s Play

“When I saw the new Child’s Play I thought it would be like any other horror film. But when Chucky killed the cat and the policeman’s mother, I just had to go. It was as weird and disturbing as ever.” —iyannahxmyasia

11. Ouija

“I watched this when I was about nine years old and we left the theater halfway through. All of my friends loved horror movies though, so I felt like a wimp and begged to go back. My parents ended up taking me again, but again, I left at about the same time as before. I ended up asking to go back a THIRD time and when we did, I ended up leaving before it was over.” —m414cf380d

10. The Purge

“The masks in the movie were so disturbing and that I wet myself during a big jump scare (I was 20 years old at the time). I left shortly thereafter.” —victoriaa43d5503fc

9. Scream

“In high school, I went to the movies with a group of friends to see a non-scary movie, and they all ended up wanting to see Scream. I gave into peer pressure and went in with them. I ended up vomiting in the bathroom halfway through the movie because of all the gore. And because I didn’t have another ride home, had to go back into the theater, where I sat with my eyes closed and ears plugged for the remainder of the film.” —ashleym90

“The only movie my family ever walked out on was Brüno with Sacha Baron Cohen. I was 10 years old and the guy working at the theater asked my parents if they were sure they wanted me, my five-year-old sister and my 15-year-old sister to watch this, but they didn’t think it was going to be bad. We almost left twice before finally leaving during the swingers bit. I saw my first penis. It was a wild time.” —asiatheestallion

7. Fifty Shades Freed

“I left during Fifty Shades Freed. I was 15 years old and seeing my first R rated movie. I had no idea what I was getting into. All the sex in the movie made me feel queasy and I got up out of my seat, ran out of the theater and threw up in the bathroom.” —iblessedthepurplerains

6. Final Destination 3

“I was in my early teens and went to the movies with my sister, her friend, and my dad. My sister and her friend really wanted to see the movie but my dad either misunderstood what type of movie it was or overestimated my tolerance for gore. I ended up crying by the second or third death and he had to take me out of the theater and wait with me outside.” —chickens

5. Date Movie

“I only lasted seven minutes in the theater. After the man shoots himself in the temple with the nail gun I needed to go.” —srinner09

4. The Green Inferno

“Once they started tearing that guy apart and scooping his eyes out of his face, I yeeted out the theatre and ran straight to the bathroom. My brother had to take me home because I couldn’t go back in.” —cristaw3

3. Gravity

“Space terrifies me, and halfway through the movie I got so stressed that I felt like I was going to be sick. I kept imagining myself in the same situation as Sandra Bullock’s character and felt such awful anxiety. I just couldn’t handle it.” —livilifelove

2. The Ring

“I didn’t see any previews for it and just showed up having no idea what I was in for. I had to leave halfway through the movie, but it took me about a year to finally come back to it and watch the rest. I had to watch it on a bright, sunny day in the comfort of my living room.” —ericas462828bbd

1. Mother!

“The whole movie is very tense and hectic. But the scene that disturbed me the most was where the baby was ripped apart and Jennifer Lawrence’s character was assaulted by the mob. I can’t watch anything with her in it now because it reminds me of that scene. Horrifying.” —beckis4d44254f5

Just 16 more movies I can cross off my list!

I mean…except for the ones I’ve already seen.

All of the Muppets Have Their Own Twitter Accounts

The Muppets are timeless, hilarious, wholesome, and deserve all of the attention they’ve ever gotten.

Also, some of them have activated Twitter accounts, and if you’re on the social media platform and love a daily dose of laughter, you definitely need to be following these gems.

There’s Cookie Monster (my personal fav).

Oscar the Grouch (I can so relate to him!).

Pepe the King Prawn should never be overlooked….

And Fozzie Bear has bad jokes for dayyyyyyys.

Statler and Waldorf get funnier the older I get, I swear.

Ernie and Bert are the best roommates ever, don’t @ me.

Sure, Elmo can be annoying, but someone loving you every single day can’t be bad.

Abby Cadabby loves Mean Girls as much as you do. No, really.

For insight into life as a rat, why not give Rizzo a follow?

And Gonzo is full of puns, and I know I need that in my life.

Big Bird makes you smile…

And Kermit never lets you down.

Then there’s Piggy (obvious)…

And Grover, because adorably naive never gets old.

You’re welcome!

A School in Tennessee Banned ‘Harry Potter’ Books. In 2019.

What year are we living in? Oh, that’s right, it’s 2019…and apparently, some things never change.

A Catholic school in Nashville, Tennessee, has removed J.W. Rowling’s world-famous Harry Potter books from its shelves because the school’s pastor said, “These books present magic as both good and evil, which is not true, but in fact a clever deception. The curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells; which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person reading the text.”

St. Edward Catholic School pastor Father Dan Reehil wrote an email to parents at the school explaining the decision. Reehil said in the message that he consulted with several exorcists in the U.S. and in Italy before making his decision. That seems like time well spent, doesn’t it?

Rebecca Hammel, the superintendent of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Nashville, said, “Each pastor has canonical authority to make such decisions for his parish school. He’s well within his authority to act in that manner.”

This is not the first time that the Harry Potter series has been under scrutiny from schools. From 2001 until 2003, the series was on the American Library Association’s list of “most challenged books.”

Father Reehil started exploring the possibility of banning the Harry Potter books after he received an inquiry from a parent. I bet that kid thinks his parents are a BLAST.

It’s hard to believe that this kind of thing still happens in 2019, but here we are…
