Memes That Anxious People Can Go Ahead and Worry About

It’s not easy being an introverted, anxious type of person. Most of us find our ways and our outlets where we feel comfortable breaking out of that, but we’re still probably going to wear our giant headphones as we walk around town with nothing playing in them, just to dissuade anyone from thinking we might want to interact.

Luckily, there are lots of ways to cope, and as with most things, the number one coping mechanism available to us is memes.

So let’s look at some memes courtesy of Reddit which will help us process our anxiety, anxiously.

What Personality Traits Are People Proud Of That They Really Shouldn’t Be?

It’s kind of funny what folks out there like to brag about.

Whenever I hear someone say, “‘I’m brutally honest”, my immediate reaction is, maybe you’re just a total a**hole?

But, I guess everyone out there is different, right?

What personality traits do you think people are proud of that they really shouldn’t be?

Here’s what AskReddit users had to say.

1. Not cool at all.

“Being ‘tough’ and threatening or intimidating to others to be ‘cool’ or ‘funny’.

It’s not called being cool, it’s called being an a**hole.”

2. Sounds like a blast.

“Have a friend who is proud of her ability to talk over others in a conversation until they give up and let her dominate the conversation from then on.

Extremely rude and annoying, but she has a very charitable spirit and I wouldn’t trade her friendship for the world.”

3. You’re really not weird.

“People who describe themselves as weird are not really weird and just pretending to be, believing maybe that it makes them cool.”

4. You call that leading?

“There’s a big shift happening right now from telling girls that they’re “bossy” to saying they’re “leaders” instead.

That’s nice and all, but some people aren’t good leaders. They’re legitimately just bossy.

People who are proud of that are annoying.”

5. It’s not a huge deal.

“Being bad at and hating “small talk.”

It’s fine not to like it, but bragging about hating it and being bad at it baffles me.

Yeah, heaven forbid someone try to engage with you using some light conversation.”

6. It’s chill, bro.

“I find that many “go with the flow” types are often disorganized and have an inability to follow through with a plan.

A certain amount of flexibility is a good thing, but I find that some ‘laid back’ people are often kind of spineless and/or meep around waiting for someone else to make it happen.”

7. Might be a bad thing.

“Always being busy, multitasking, going on little or no sleep because you were so busy all night & got up so early.

Don’t be proud of this, don’t brag about this. You’re doing several things poorly instead of doing one or two things well.

You’re doing your physical, mental and emotional health a massive disservice by stretching yourself so thin. One way or another, this always catches up with you.”

8. They don’t need to talk about it.

“”The Strong Woman” persona.

My sister does this. Loves to emasculate and jump all over dudes who suggest she is anything other than a strong woman, despite all the adversity in her life being entirely her fault, and despite her having MULTIPLE fallback people to help her out of her messes anytime.

You’d think she was Precious to hear her tell it. Plays victim any time anyone disagrees with her. Draws lines in the sand. You know, the typical “I hate drama” basic bi**h you see on FB every day but still insists she is a STRONG woman.

Guess what? Strong women don’t need to tell anyone about it.

People know.”

9. You don’t even know…

“”I’m ADD.”

“I’m OCD.”

Usually they’ve not been diagnosed nor do they know the depths of the problems these disorders bring those who are.”

10. This one…

“If you can’t handle me at my worst you don’t deserve me at my best!”

11. Toxic.

“Being a “thug” or anything similar.

The culture surrounding that is filled with negativity, like disregarding everyone around you because you “only need you”.”

12. Just plain rude!

“”I am blunt. I’m a b**ch. I’m not afraid to speak my mind, sorry if I hurt your feelings, princess!!!”

Translation : “I was never taught proper social skills! When people are upset with me I become defensive! I never learned to curate and speak decently to people!

I’m hoping people can like me despite being like this, because changing myself is too hard and I rebel against the idea that people need to be pleasant to be liked!!!””

What do you think about this?

Tumblr Posts for Sensitive the Souls Out There

Are you kind of sensitive? That’s alright. We’re not here to give you a hard time about it. There’s really no use in that anyway. We’re here to commiserate. We understand. Everybody feels a bit sensitive from time to time, even if part of our brain is telling us we just need to buck up.

Tweets for Deeply Introverted Folks

I finally took the Myers-Briggs personality test after a lot of egging on from a friend of mine and it told me that I’m an INTJ which I guess means “Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging.”

Which makes sense to me. I’m pretty intuitive, especially when it comes to quickly realizing how bad I’ve screwed something up. I can’t stop myself from constant thinking, even if it’s about nothing in particular, and I’m always judging everyone.

But most of all, I am an introvert. Just as the people behind these tweets clearly are.

11. Check it out

Please don’t bring attention to me, this is the opposite of what I wanted.

10. I can dig it

It takes me about as much time to psych myself up for one anyway.

9. Pick me up

Oh, I’m sorry, you very clearly mistook the nature of this interaction.

8. Keep it cool

Ice makes drinks better and insulates the poles of our planet, let’s keep it around.

7. A celebration

It’s January 2nd, apparently. So that we can all recover from the horrors of having to attend NYE parties.

6. This rules

I’m the president and soul member.

5. Two out of three

Hey man, the system works.

4. Risk and reward

If I keep this up I may soon never have to speak to anyone again.

3. Cute but deadly

Please don’t leave me, I’m small and very afraid.

2. Generic title

Generic joke.

1. Drop the beats

And yet somehow this does not stop everyone.

Hang in there, fellow introverts. We’ll all get through this together, on our own.

A Study Shows That Cat Owners Pass on Their Own Personalities to Their Cats

Sometimes, humans and their pets seem eerily similar to each other, and it’s not just in our imagination, according to a new study.

In a study published in Plos One, researchers surveyed over 3000 cat owners. They asked them a variety of questions about five broad personality traits: extroversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. Then they observed their cats’ behavior.

The researchers found that the traits that were dominant in owners were also observed in their cats.

For example, owners who rated higher in neuroticism had cats who exhibited behavior problems. Owners who rated themselves as more extroverted had cats who enjoyed being outside more.

Cats are notoriously independent animals. They’re not really into being told what to do or how to act. So, how do they end up picking up on so many of their humans’ traits?

It may be due to the tight bond that many humans and cats share.

“Many owners consider their pets as a family member, forming close social bonds with them,” explained Dr. Lauren Finka, co-author of the study. “It’s therefore very possible that pets could be affected by the way we interact with and manage them, and that both these factors are in turn influenced by our personality differences.”

She added that “further research is needed to investigate the causal nature of this relationship – and to look at if, and how, owner personalities are directly influencing their cat’s behavior and welfare.”

Cool!

Fascinating Illustration Shows All the Different Ways We Draw Our X’s – and What It Means

When you write out the letter “x,” what motions do you use? Which corner do you start with first? It seems that the answers to those questions can actually reveal quite a bit about your personality.

Oprahmag posted the graphic on Instagram, prompting thousands of people to stop what they were doing, grab pen and paper, and make X’s.

Who knew there were so many different ways to make an “x”?

Brie Schwartz, deputy editor of Oprah Magazine, contacted a handwriting analyst to see what she had to say about the great “X” debate.

Kathi McKnight, certified handwriting analyst provided some clarification.

Most people were taught method 8, and most people reported making their X’s with the same method. These X-scribers were more likely to be comfortable with rules and structure and not likely to get out of line (so to speak).

Interestingly, other methods indicated a rebellious or negative streak in a person’s character.

Depending on which way a person strokes the lines could show difficulties in personality. For instance, figure 1 and figure 2, showing upstrokes, could mean an individual has trouble moving on from a problematic past. Figure 3, because of its opposition in direction to the normal figure 8 way, points to a rebellious nature.

Still, a desire to stay with figure 7 or 8 may say the writer resists independent thought and change.

Or it all says nothing! Because there is so much more to handwriting analysis, like pressure, slant, size, and of course the fact that it’s not 100% reliable anyway.

What do you think?
