13 Things Even Major Fans Might Have Missed in the Harry Potter Movies

Even if you claim one of the houses of Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw or Helga Hufflepuff, and you say you have nary a trace of Muggle in your family because you truly are pure-blood, you may find you’ve missed a few of these tiny details.

Let’s see, shall we?

1. In The Sorcerer’s Stone, there’s a scene showing Aunt Petunia at the stove dying Dudley’s clothes gray for Harry to wear.

This is talked about in the book, but no one says anything about it in the movie.

2. The Sorcerer’s Stone scene showing Harry getting his Hogwarts letter is eerily close to Hitchcock’s The Birds.

But instead of letters coming through the fireplace, Hitchcock had killer birds fluttering down the flue.

3. In The Sorcerer’s Stone, Neville Longbottom receives a Remembrall to remind him what he’s forgotten. He’s also the only one not wearing his cloak…

Some People Are Upset by Ryan Reynold’s Reaction to Spiderman Leaving Marvel

News flash: A financial rift between Disney and Sony caused Tom Holland’s Spiderman to exit the MCU – and as most people agree that this iteration of Spiderman is the best one, the internet is understandably upset.

And they’re also none too happy with Ryan Reynolds’ (Deadpool) reaction to the news – but only because he’s reiterated the grief tugging on everyone’s hearts.

Maybe people figured that, given that Reynolds was behind the campaign to get Deadpool movie made (he didn’t give up for over a decade!), he might be willing to step in and defend Tom Holland’s Spiderman with the same rigor.

Not so much. It seems like confirmation that there’s nothing to be done – or that none of the major MCU actors are going to break with the company line to rope him back in.

Womp-womp.

Here’s How You Can Pay for Hulu and Netflix and Save Money Every Month

It’s pretty obvious that streaming TV shows and movies is becoming a preferred way of watching them and more services with more selection are coming on the market soon.

Photo Credit: Mike MacKenzie via Flickr, CC BY 2.0

But the services do cost some money. Fortunately, there’s a way to shave off a few dollars.

MoneyTalksNews writer Donna Freedman explains her hack for saving money on Netflix and Hulu if you pay for them through iTunes. Simply put, Costco sells iTunes gift cards at a 15 percent discount. If you use the gift card to pay for the services through iTunes, then BAM! You save on your streaming.

When your account depletes, just buy another gift card.

There are a few catches:

  1. The Costco discount on iTunes cards only happens a couple of times a year, so you have to stock up when you get the chance.
  2. Only existing users of Netflix through iTunes can pay through iTunes. New purchasers have to pay for Netflix directly through their portal which does not take iTunes gift cards as payment.
  3. If you aren’t a Costco member and you have no interest in becoming one, you will have to find iTunes cards at a discount through online gift card resellers or have a friend buy them on your behalf.
  4. If you aren’t paying for Hulu through iTunes, you will have to cancel and sign up again through iTunes.

Still, the savings are there if you are willing to do a little work. Depending on what city you’re in and the cost of living you have, this kind of hustle may be worth it – especially when rate hike time comes.
