A Woman Ignored Creepy Red Flags While House Hunting and Things Got Interesting

If you’ve ever rented a place and needed to move, you know the sense of urgency in finding a new place, and sometimes, you overlook weird things which would be obvious were you not so eager.

One woman on Twitter who goes by the name of Olivia became someone she never thought she become in the process.

She and her husband were new to the area and eager to find a nice place.

They were excited to see a charming older home.

But her husband wasn’t convinced it was such a good idea.

Admittedly, things were weird about it from the get-go.

Especially for Olivia’s husband.

The realtor explained it to the best of her ability.

The upstairs seemed perfect.

The kitchen, however, had some issues.

Scratches?

This is starting to sound like The Amityville Horror:

OMG, a secret room?

But wait, there’s more!

The basement seems… like a basement. Nothing much to see… but wait—what’s that? This time, the realtor is at a loss for words.

Olivia’s husband presses her.

The agent quickly ushers them out.

Once in the yard, Olivia thinks the door leads to the outside, but her husband has a different perspective.

With a window!

On the way home, Olivia was still unsure.

But a realization struck her—she was the white girl in the horror movie who always makes the wrong decisions.She came close to sealing her fate and chalked it up to wanting her dream home THAT badly.

She’ll now take extra precaution.

And noted that there were others like her out there.

Have you ever been in a place that had some things that in it that you just couldn’t explain? Let us know in the comments below!

Artist Reimagines Disney Princesses as Modern-Day Women

Disney princesses are always popular. From Ariel to Tiana to Elsa, there’s something about the group that we just can’t get enough of.

One artist recently used the platform TikTok to bring the princesses to life in a modern way.

Yudelmis “Yudie” San Emeterio took to her account to imagine each of the princesses as a modern-day woman.

Yudie has a pretty interesting back story: she used to work as a specimen processor in a lab, but is finishing up her art degree. She decided to share her princess transformations after seeing other artists produce similar work.

In one video, she completely modernizes Belle (smartphone and all).

@vanotyarts

Saw people doing “glow ups” of Disney characters so I decided to do my own. I went for a more subtle change! #disneyprincess #artchallenge #belle

♬ Strawberry Shortcake – Melanie Martinez

In other, Mulan has an upper arm tattoo and some seriously amazing make-up.

@vanotyarts

I knew that I wanted to do something more dramatic for Mulan, and I love the “ABG” look, so… #abg #mulan #disneyprincess #gloupdisney

♬ Candy – Doja Cat

Tiana also gets the Yudie treatment, and the result is absolutely killer.

@vanotyarts

As much as I like the blue and green dresses in the film, I think pink was made for Tiana ? #tiana #disneyprincess #gloupdisney #artchallenge #art

♬ Talk – Khalid

Watching Yudie work is pretty mesmerizing! She makes updating the look of each princess seem so easy. Her fresh take on Jasmine is perfect:

@vanotyarts

Aladdin is probably the only Disney movie I have never seen and I’m ashamed of myself ? Jasmine is ? though. #aladdin #princessjasmine #gloupdisney

♬ B.S. – Jhené Aiko, H.E.R.

Yudie also took on the task of updating Rapunzel’s look, even though she notes that working with the 3-D image was more challenging than the others.

@vanotyarts

The trickiness with 3D edits is that they’re a bit more involved, but Rapunzel is worth it ❤ #rapunzel #disneyprincess #gloupdisney

♬ GREEDY x TREASURE – conradrocha

Yudie says that she hopes other people are inspired by her work and create their own art as a result.

Art can sometimes be undervalued or ignored on these platforms, so I really just want to open people up to more of it.

She also said that she hopes people realize that even though her art might have specific aesthetics, none of it is meant to be taken as the best way for women to look:

None of my videos are meant to suggest a particular beauty standard. All the princesses are beautiful just as they are, and my videos are only exploring different looks for fun! No one should have to feel that they have to look like these characters — before or after my transformations. Everyone is beautiful!

Isn’t Yudie’s work amazing?! Yeah it is!

Make sure you let us know which princess transformation is your favorite in the comments!

Please and thank you!

A Filmmaker Showed How Green Screens Work With Before/After Photos

If you are a fan of movies and television, you are probably familiar with green screens and you might not even know it.

A green screen is a backdrop that is most commonly used with a filmmaker or photographer plans to superimpose an image into the frame.

Often, the actors are filmed walking and interacting in front of the backdrop, and the special effect is added after the fact.

Many of us are so used to green screen technology these days that it can be easy to forget just how impressive it really is.

Recently, Ian Hubert shared a few stills from his current project that uses a green screen. As a filmmaker and visual artist, Ian is no stranger to the process.

Photo by Ian Hubertz.

Ian is currently working on the web series Dynamo Dream, and he is using green screens in a truly creative way.

The show is described as a “sci-fi/fantasy/cute web series,” and it definitely makes sense that the team would be adding a lot of special effects after the shots are filmed.

Photo by Ian Hubertz.

In fact, fans of the genre are really excited about the work that Ian and his team have produced.

Ian uses a program called Blender for video editing, and his tutorials are some of the most widely shared out there.

In a recent interview with Rokoko, Ian elaborated on what makes this technology so special:

“What I am really excited about is that it is like a new way of filmmaking.

I hadn’t really realized how much of my workflow was based around just avoiding having to do legit character animation.

When I’m working on a scene now, I can just throw the Smartsuit on and animate all the characters.”

Pretty damn cool.

Let’s have one more look at the before/after.

What do you think about Ian’s skills and the use of green screens in general?

The fight for good has made some significant strides in these last few weeks. Breonna Taylor’s murder case has been reopened. They arrested all four officers responsible for the death of George Floyd, and upped the charges against his murderer. LA is redistributing $150 million from the LAPD budget to invest in communities of color. Marches have happened in all 50 states and around the world, pressuring our representatives to introduce legislative change. And all that happened because of the protests, the emails, the donations. But unfortunately the fight is far from over. Just yesterday, Georgia was rampantly suppressing the black vote claiming it was for the safety of voters due to the coronavirus, even though more and more businesses are opening around the country. It’s so frustrating that it’s so hard to get people in power to do the right thing. We elect them hoping they will take the responsibility. It is, after all, their jobs to do so. But it’s an imperfect (REALLY imperfect) system, and the way we fix it is by getting loud, donating, hitting the streets, making angry calls and sending angry emails, and never relenting. I have learned so much these last weeks. My privilege has shielded me from so many horrors – many of which were not even hidden. My eyes are being opened to the police brutality and the over funding crises and I’m mad as hell. But anger is exhausting. What we truly need right now is heart, integrity, and a fuckton of courage. So I hope this helps brighten your day, but never forget that the fight isn’t close to over. Now let’s start down that yellow brick road which hopefully leads to real racial equality. You can find a link in my bio with wonderful resources to help the cause.
