Mansplaining Convention Is Selling $2,000 Tickets to Help ‘Make Women Great Again’

As if things weren’t ridiculous enough in the world, there is now a Mansplaining Convention set to take place in May 2020. Tickets are only being sold to women, who will get to enjoy watching a panel full of men explaining things to them. Sounds fun, right?!

The event is officially called the 22 Convention, and it’s “destined to be the mansplaining event of the century,” according to organizers. The organizers. Do they not know mansplaining is bad?

It will be a three-day-long event in Orlando, Florida. The goal? To “make women great again.”

Oh, and tickets to this convention cost $1,999. Cue eternal screaming.

The 22 Convention comes from the same “Orlando-based bros” who host the 21 Convention to actualize the “ideal man,” according to Orlando Weekly.

“Women today are being taught to act more like men,” the 22 Convention website says. “Where has that led us? Skyrocketing rates of divorce, depression, dysfunction, and America at the #1 spot in the world for single motherhood.”

But no more, thanks to these mansplaining heroes!

“No longer will you have to give in to toxic bullying feminist dogma and go against your biological nature,” the website says.

At the convention, women will learn about all those horrible topics that have poisoned their brains, such as: feminism, infertility, body positivity, overconfidence, and more.

The website also explains that feminism is “hiding under a mask of fake progress.”

“At The 22 Convention, you will learn the truth that unhealthy militant feminists have been hiding from you your entire lives,” the website says.

In place of feminism, the mansplainers will teach women how to regain their “femininity” and learn to be the “ideal wife.”

There’s also a note on the homepage that says, “Regular ticketing is only available for natural born women.”

This sounds like absolute torture.

A Guy Told Women ‘How to Be a Better Mother’ — People Didn’t Hold Back with Their Responses

Women seem to have had it up to here with taking unsolicited advice about their bodies, roles, and future from men – a fact that one guy found out the hard way when he thought he’d offer up advice on best mothering practices.

Here it is:

How to be a better mother:

– Be feminine

– Wear dresses

– Don’t hit your kids

– Enforce boundaries

– Be physically active

– Don’t tease your kids

– Cook your family’s meals

– Don’t call your children names

– Do not get drunk in front of them

– Show up to their games *& cheer*

Now, let’s point a couple of things out right upfront. First, he’s very likely a man still hurting from the ways his own mother disappointed him as a child and is using this list and his platform as some weird way of fixing himself. This excuses nothing, because he is now a grown man and should know better.

Second, there are things on this list that many pointed out were absolutely arbitrary when it comes to being a good mother.

For instance, how a woman dresses.

Why would he care?

And what does it matter?

And whether she cooks dinner or goes for a run afterward.

Does it truly matter if she’s physically active?

But mostly, women just seemed to take offense at the idea that someone on the internet who doesn’t know them or their kids or how they actually run their family from day-to-day, would dare criticize them based on this list.

Or any list, honestly.

Because lists are not a good way to determine how whole groups of people should behave.

No, not at all.

Also, shoutout to the men out there – obviously raised by good women – also confused and irritated and not afraid to clap back!

Seriously bro? Seriously?

Who hurt you?

Let’s all just stop trying to force other people into small, arbitrary boxes labeled “good” and “bad,” shall we?

We’re all going to be happier if we do.

A Mansplainer on Twitter Proved Just How Little Men Know About Periods and Tampons

The price of tampons and pads adds up over time. Here’s a bodily function that half the population has no choice but to pay for, and the other half doesn’t!

In news that will surprise no one, a man took to the internet to give his opinion on the price of tampons and pads and why women should “stop complaining.”

This man did some hilariously wrong math to determine that women only spend about £20 per year for tampons.

Anyone with a period immediately smelled the bullsh*t.

First of all, SEVEN tampons per cycle?! Only in a dream world, pal.

Second of all, he flubbed the NUMBER OF MONTHS IN A YEAR.

He almost certainly mixed up the period thing with the pregnancy thing.

Anyway, third of all, he also got the average volume of blood per period wrong.

It’s actually impressive to be this wrong!

Seriously I can’t with this guy.

Even well-meaning men are oblivious about periods and tampons.

The only solution is to teach ’em a lesson.

That will shut this guy up forever.

This Guy Tried to Explain Science to a Female Astrophysicist…Not a Good Idea

We get to see how clueless a lot of people can be because of social media.

If you’re going to engage in a debate with someone online, at least take five seconds to look at their bio so you can see who you’re about to tangle with. Case in point, let’s look at Twitter user Katie Mack’s short bio:

“(a.k.a. Dr Katherine J Mack) astrophysicist/cosmologist, occasional freelance science writer, connoisseur of cosmic catastrophes”

Okay, you probably wouldn’t want to debate Ms. Mack about, oh I don’t know, astrophysics or anything science-related. Let’s see how this unfolded, shall we?

Here was the tweet that started the exchange.

Then this fella decided to throw in his two cents. Bad move, bro.

To be clear, that’s a screenshot because Mr. Jackson has since deleted his tweets.

Ms. Mack responded with this tweet, which you really can’t argue with in any way.

Ouch. Immediately roasted. Gary, Gary, Gary…bad move, my friend.

Other people weighed in on Twitter with their thoughts about the exchange.

And then another mindless troll just had to step in to try to take up Gary’s fight. Another bad idea.

I’ll never understand the anti-science, anti-education, anti-reason people out there. And there seems to be A LOT of them.

The lesson here? If you don’t know what you’re talking about, do yourself a favor and keep your mouth shut. Or else you’ll end up looking incredibly stupid, and you’ll have to hang your head in shame.

Viral Facebook Post Shows Just How Men Can Be Allies

For those who may be unfamiliar with the term, “mansplaining” is the incredibly frustrating experience when a man explains something to a woman under the assumption that she has no knowledge or experience on the subject. While it’s always rude and patronizing, it’s even worse when the subject at hand is one the woman actually has professional expertise in.

Hilary Jerome Scarsella is a Ph.D. candidate in Theological Studies at Vanderbilt University whose work focuses on the relationship of traumatic experience to religious faith and liberation theology. She recounted an experience of mansplaining, and how men can respond, in a viral Facebook post.

Honestly, she’s already been much kinder than I would be in similar circumstances. She listened to him respectfully, challenged his points, and he doesn’t engage productively; he doubles down on his opinions and leaves. In many cases that would be the end of the story.

Her new friend pointed out this guy’s mistake, and that it was too late for him to rectify it. He had a subject matter expert right there, and he didn’t take the time to listen or to learn.

Her friend speaking up created a safe space, and it stemmed from a practiced commitment to challenging male patterns of behavior. He isn’t a savior; he was simply doing what decent men can and should be doing whenever they see sexism in their daily lives.

Just taking on one or two of these guys a month would make a big difference.
