Do you ever wonder what exactly is the breakdown of religious groups where you live? As I drive around town, I see churches, mosques, and temples, and I ask myself that question all the time.

The Washington Post gathered data from the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies to put together the following map, which will answer all of those questions for you. As you can see, certain regions of the country are strongly dominated by one religion, especially the South and the Northeast.

Mom’s Racism is Laid Bare After Dad Got His Daughter’s Hair Braided

The world can be an ugly, ugly place. You’d think we’d have gotten over this kind of appalling behavior by now, and yet here we are.

Nick Harris is a black man who has a daughter with a white woman. After he recently had their daughter’s hair braided, his “Babymom” was not pleased – at all. In fact, the woman clearly has some pent-up issues that we can sum up with one word: racism. Harris shared the interaction on Facebook for all the world to see.

Then it got worse.

After Harris shared the encounter on Facebook, people commented with their thoughts. As you can imagine, most were in favor of Harris and his seemingly harmless act of simply getting his daughter’s hair braided.

100% Physically Healthy Woman Wants to Live as a Disabled Person, Identifying as ‘Transabled’

This has got to be one of the most bizarre stories I’ve personally ever seen online: Chloe Jennings-White, a perfectly healthy 61-year-old chemist from Salt Lake City, Utah, is making waves for her decision to identify as ‘transabled’ – preferring to live life in a wheelchair like a disabled person.

Yes, you read that right.

The official name for this condition is Body Integrity Identity Disorder.

Jennings-White wears leg braces to give herself a “paraplegic feel” and claims that she’s dreamed of this since she was a child. When she was only 9-years-old, Jennings-White rode her bicycle off of a stage that she had set up in a park with the sole intention of breaking her back and becoming paralyzed. It didn’t work, and she realized that she could’ve been paralyzed from the neck down, which was not her intent. Jennings-White only wishes to be paralyzed from the waist down.

Jennings-White hopes to have a surgery done where her sciatic and femoral nerves will be severed, but obviously she can’t find a doctor to perform the procedure.

Do You Get Goosebumps Listening to Music? You Might Just Have a Different Kind of Brain

When you listen to music, do you connect to it on an emotional level? Do certain songs and certain moments in them send shivers down your spine and give you goosebumps? For me, there are a bunch of tunes that take me to another place and spark a specific memory in my head. For example, this is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Every time I hear it I get goosebumps, and I flash back to myself driving around Lawrence, Kansas when I was about 20-years-old. Experiencing these kinds of emotions from music is pretty rare. A study from 2016 examined this phenomenon to see how getting chills and goosebumps from music is triggered.

10 people who do experience the aforementioned emotions and 10 who do not participated in a study by Matthew Sachs, a former undergraduate at Harvard. Sachs discovered that people who connect to music emotionally and physically have different brain structures than those who don’t. These folks tend to have a denser volume of fibers that connect the auditory cortex and areas that process emotions, resulting in the two areas communicating better with each other.

Sachs believes that a strong attachment to music means a person has stronger overall emotions. He is currently conducting more research that focuses on how music that causes certain reactions affects brain activity. Sachs’ ultimate goal is to use his research to help treat psychological disorders. Sachs says, “Depression causes an inability to experience pleasure of everyday things. You could use music with a therapist to explore feelings.”
