Hilarious Posts for People in a Love/Hate Relationship with Marriage

The Greek philosopher Socrates once said “By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you’ll become happy; if you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.”

It seems that a lot of people on Twitter are caught somewhere between good and bad with their spouses and have thus turned into tongue-in-cheek-happy philosophers.

If you don’t understand what I mean, have a look for yourself.

13. If wishing made it so…

Ah, I see what you did there.

People Share Things They Hate That Most People Seem to Love

We don’t all have to like the same things, right?

But it IS kind of perplexing when the entire world seems to LOVE something…and you kind of HATE it.

Has that ever happened to you before? I’m willing to bet that it has…

So what do you hate that the rest of the world loves?

Here’s what AskReddit users had to say.

1. Keep them away from me.

“Dogs at restaurants.

I get it, you love your animal; but there is something inherently weird and unhygienic about bringing your animal to a restaurant.”

2. Snooze fest.

“The Marvel movies and most big films.

I understand there’s a lot that goes into them but jeez.

Cookie cutter stories, all CGI, and there’s 500 films.”

3. Pretty trashy.

“Keeping up with the Kardashians.

I watched ten minutes of an episode and I hate it, a bunch of undeserving whining Americans having fights with each other while flashing their money.

They don’t deserve their wealth or fame, Kim does not seem to have any useful talents and don’t benefit society in any way. Call me the minority but I don’t like it at all.”

4. Not for everyone.

“Having children.

Finally with being nearly 30 (as a women) people stopped telling me “yOu wIlL cHaNgE yOur MiNd”.

No I won’t. I just don’t have any interest in getting and raising children. I don’t understand why “raising your own blood” is interesting at all.”

5. Not a fan.

“Anime.

I hate the way it’s drawn. I really hate the stupid voices. They’re either overly squeaky or ridiculously deep.

I hate everything about it.”

6. No thanks.

“Pro sports.

They’re such a waste of our collective time, attention, and money, especially since taxpayers have helped foot the bill for private stadiums.

On top of everything, they seem to train people in irrational loyalty to players, teams, and (in the US) the military. The teams are just businesses, the players are typically mercenaries who switch teams the moment they get offered a higher salary (and I don’t blame them!).

There’s nothing inherently wrong with sports, but we’d be better off if people focused on playing them at an amateur level and not caring beyond friends and family.”

7. You’re not missing much.

“Going out and drinking.

I’ve never been to a club and have never been drunk. I’ve had people wondering what the hell I do when I meet up with friends.

There’s more you can do together than drinking and clubbing…”

8. Don’t like the pigskin.

“American football.

Idgaf about these corporate owned teams and so many men assume I care about random sports teams. My dude, no. I get my thrills from scifi and shows about dragons and murderous superheroes, not watching athletes in tights damage each other for life.

I’d be more interested in a statewide rugby competition. Feels like a more honestly brutal sport, and making it regional gives you an attachment to the team.”

9. Sorry, you’re wrong.

“Seinfeld.

Could never watch it.

Just seemed to drag on forever and ever with almost nothing happening most of the time.”

10. Doesn’t feel right.

“Fortnite and rap.

I don’t wanna give reasons why, cuz even I don’t know them.

They just don’t feel/sound right.”

11. Blasphemy!

“I hate sleeping.

And I say this not because I’m just a whiny child who wants to stay up late so I can be quirky. No, I sleep a decent amount around 8-10hrs a day because I have to, everyone does. Our bodies need to sleep so that we can function properly and that’s why it can seem nice after a long day but only because our bodies feel the need to sleep.

The reason I hate sleeping is that we can get so much done if we didn’t need to sleep. If we could sustain ourselves by not sleeping and still be healthy then we could get so much done everyday and most of us would be so much more productive.”

12. Wow.

“Food.

I get no benefit from it past basic sustenance.

I’ve had amazing food too.

It’s all the same.”

13. It’s the worst.

“New Year’s eve.

I’m broken after the Christmas season. I cannot see another plate of food.

And now I’m supposed to party, drink, and have a good time?”

14. Hmmm…

“I hate peanut butter.

It’s just a consistency thing. It gets stuck to the roof of my mouth and I hate the feeling. Everyone I tell ends up giving me crap over it.

Like I’m sorry but leave my jelly sandwiches alone.”

15. Now people are gonna get mad.

“The Office.

Someone pointed out how insane the number of relationships in that show was and it really bugged me and I could never unsee it. Those coworkers hook up more than food service workers lmao

Pam/Roy, Jim/Pam, Jim/Katy, Jim/Karen, Kelly/Ryan, Kelly/Darryl, Darryl/Val, Dwight/Angela, Angela/Andy. Andy/Erin, Erin/Gabe, Erin/Pete, Michael/Pam’s Mom, Michael/Jan, Michael/Holly…

I’m probably missing some.”

Now we want to hear from you.

In the comments, tell us about something that everyone seems to love that you REALLY DON’T LIKE.

Please and thank you!

People Discuss Things They Really Don’t Like That Seem to Be Universally Loved

I know what I have to say about this…

And I know that I’ll probably get some grief for this…but here we go.

I don’t like The Big Lebowski. I don’t think it’s funny and I just can’t seem to get into it…and I’ve tried more than once…

But the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD seems to think it’s just the funniest and most brilliant movie ever. So what am I missing here…?

What are some things that people really love that you REALLY DON’T?

AskReddit users went on the record and shared their thoughts.

1. No big deal.

“My birthday.

I like to just have a normal day.

I don’t care that X years ago I was forcefully brought into this world…

Just leave me be.”

2. Take that back!

“Having everything on a burger.

It just creates a big mess whenever I bite into it and I hate it.”

3. Not a fan of the heat.

“Summer / hot weather!

I’m admittedly such a miser during summer, I’d happily skip straight to Autumn (best season). The only thing I enjoy about summer are intense thunderstorms!

It seems like most people feel more depressed in Autumn/Winter, but I’m the opposite, Summer makes me feel worse for some reason.

Everyone talks about how they can’t wait to get away on holiday to really hot countries so they can lay in the sun and tan. That just sounds like my worst nightmare!”

4. I don’t like it either.

“Reality TV.

Everyone I know tells me they watch it to relax but it just stresses me out!

Everyone is so upset with each other all the time, what’s relaxing about that?”

5. No thank you!

“Going out to clubs.

It’s my nightmare.

So boring, so sweaty, hard to dress for, heels hurt my feet, drinks are expensive, guys can be sleazy

I’m sure girls too, I just don’t have that problem…”

6. Not gonna happen again.

“Bacon.

Sometimes I tell people that I grew up orthodox Jew because they accept that fairly easily.

The real reason is when I was a kid I accidentally ate some bad bacon and it made me so sick I still can’t stand the smell/taste, my brain just says “this will make you puke for three days.””

7. This!

“Literally worshipping celebrities like gods.

It’s just creepy to me I don’t get it.

I get if u do something super amazing, but being the 7th richest person on earth isnt that important, and a bit sketchy.”

8. Bored to tears.

“Superhero movies.

They’ve just become so cliche and formulaic.

I don’t need to see yet another origin story where someone develops powers, gets beat at the start, learns how to better control them, and then beats the bad guy an hour later.”

9. I pass on grass.

“Marijuana.

Most people I know smokes/has smoked it. But when I get even the slightest whiff of the smoke, I get bad migraines that lasts 30 mins.. and I do mean literally EVERY single time. I don’t know how I get sick or why it happens.

Every time I would hang out with my Family/Friends, I would feel guilty because they would move to the window or they just usually stop coz they know that I get sick.”

10. Kind of weird.

“Disney.

The cult worship of everything Disney is f*cking weird, especially by adults, the workers at the parks are treated awfully by patrons and corporate alike

The movies are generic and suck, the parks are bullsh*t and everything is ridiculously overpriced.

I’m also from Florida so maybe I’m biased.”

11. Too commercialized.

“How commercialized the Holidays have become.

I love Christmas, Easter, Independence Day, and Halloween.

What I hate is how commercialized they have become.

I have heard people see Christmas decorations being sold before HALLOWEEN! Last month, I walked into a store and saw Halloween crap! Dude! Stay in your lane! If you start selling Christmas stuff before Advent starts, you need to check yourself!

Also, those people who are like “Only 275 days until Christmas!”

Stop. Please stop.”

12. You’re missing out!

“Eggs.

I absolutely cannot stand eggs, but EVERYONE ELSE loves them. It’s annoying and embarrassing going out for breakfast and trying to find something that isn’t f*cking eggs.

“I’ll just have the pancakes with a side of ham”

“How do you want your eggs?”

“I don’t want eggs””

13. Enough!

“Musicals.

I just don’t care for them.

Yes that included all the old Disney movies that everyone obsesses over.”

14. Keep it down!

“Birds chirping in the morning.

I’m not an angry person at all and have never been in a fight or felt the urge to hit anyone, but if I had a gun on my bedside table the birds of Oslo would not be safe between 5 and 7 am.”

15. Okay, take it easy.

“Babies. I hate babies.

They are annoying, loud, and always have something gross coming out of them. I never want to have one in my house.

I’d be less annoyed if people weren’t so obsessed with babies. I don’t need to know about the color of your babies poop. I don’t need to know about your baby who pees everywhere when they are changed. BABIES ARE EXHAUSTING AND I DON’T NEED THAT IN MY LIFE.

I’m already tired from existing and having sh*tty mental health.”

What do you despise that everyone else on the planet seems to adore?

People Share the Things That Get a Lot of Unnecessary Hate

I’m gonna say it: I LIKE GUY FIERI.

I think he’s super nice, super positive, he obviously loves what he does, and he does a lot of good work for charities.

I think his TV show is good, too.

So why all the hate?

Some things and people just get hated on. It’s a fact of life.

AskReddit users weighed in what they think gets a totally unnecessary amount of hate.

1. Don’t hate on it.

“TikToks.

Most of the videos are made by kids or teens. Let’s admit it, most of us would be making TikToks too if it had existed when we were 13. Instead, we had marquees and wacky-colored cursors on MySpace.

Those kids are doing the cringy shit we did, they just do it on video.”

2. I wish I did it!

“CrossFit.

Sure it’s intense compared to your average gym session, and without doubt there are a handful of shitty coaches out there, but it’s a great social activity, teaches people to move well (yes, yes, there are shitty coaches) and understand the mechanics of their body.”

3. It’s very popular…

“Kpop.

It’s just another genre of music but in a different language, yeah fans can be cringy but pretty much fans of anything can be cringy, and kpop groups tend to get even more hate than western artists just for being asian, even though most kpop idols are less or even not problematic at all.”

4. Not your business.

“Not wanting or liking kids. If it’s none of your business, spend your energy on something positive rather than useless judgement.

It is a little frustrating how many people’s responses to a post about lessening your judgement… is to judge and complain.

You know you guys are proving my point, right? Like super explicitly. I hope it’s helpful to readers of the thread.”

5. Thank you!

“Guy Fieri.

He seems like a genuinely good person.

In 2017 and 2018 he cooked for thousands of victims and first responders affected by the California wildfires.”

6. She’s just a kid.

“Billy Eilish.

People who talk shit on her are literally talking shit on a kid. Do you have nothing better to do? I get you don’t like her music, I don’t necessarily favor her music either but that’s no reason to attack her personally.”

7. Look into it.

“Veganism.

Yeah there are a lot of vegan idiots you hear about, but you don’t hear about all of the vegans with completely normal lives. Veganism is simply food without chicken, cow, pig, fish, eggs, or dairy.

You can find protein and vitamins from other sources. But some people go extreme with either raw vegan, fruitarian, low carb, etc.”

8. This one is very weird.

“Greta Thunberg.

People hate her with a passion and it’s ridiculous.

A girl with a lot of foresight: “We should save the planet, make a future for our young”

Some asshole: “I wish you were dead, little girl”

I genuinely don’t understand that train of thought.”

9. Unions.

“Labor Unions.

Since the vast majority of people are working stiffs that would benefit so much from being in a union, it’s amazing that they’re unpopular at all.

Groups of worker who essentially band together so they’re able to bargain for a more fair share of the profits their labor produces. Throw in some great health insurance for you and the family and a pension so you can retire in dignity.

Seriously, what’s not to like?”

10. Furry alert!

“Furries.

Like, yeah, sexualizing anthros are weird and like mmmmmake me uncomfortable. But children who role play as warrior cats? Neuro divergent teens who find comfort in it?

Yeah, I think spending thousands of dollars on a fur suit is silly, but their out here living their best live sooooo. Cringe culture is all about making fun of children (well mostly adults who are into kid things) but like why??

Their life doesn’t affect you in any way???”

11. Good point.

“Feminism.

Feminism is female equality. I feel like we all agree that women should be legally allowed to vote and given constitutional rights. So why hate on feminism?

Bunch of right wing propaganda masquerading as memes about fringe wackos who want men to donate their paychecks or some stupid shit. You can’t achieve equality by reversing injustice.

Those people aren’t feminists, they’re angry assholes.”

12. Politics as usual.

“The other political party:

I’m just being honest. Due to the structure of algorithms and confirmation bias, people on both sides are fed straw-man arguments of the people that are different from them.”

13. Live and let live.

“Smokers.

Not “smoking”. I think that smoking receives the appropriate amount of hate. Smoking sucks. Smokers get a lot of shit though, just for having an unhealthy vice. I’m not trying to throw stones though, I have a few unhealthy vices myself.

I have a friend who got irritated when some second hand smoke wafted past them in a movie theater parking lot. The lot was behind the theater, the smoker was far way from all the exits and not anywhere near a high traffic walking area.

My friend said “Ugh, gross. Isn’t that so inconsiderate?” I said “…no, man. This guy is like…as far away from people as he can reasonably be, and the wind just happened to carry a little of the smoke the 40 feet between you two.

Where do you want this guy to go to have his smoke, Mars?”. My friend was then annoyed with me.”

14. Capitalism.

“Capitalism.

I want to be rewarded for working hard. If I’m not incentivized to work hard, I’m not going to. I’m not a billionaire. I’m not a millionaire. I don’t hate poor people. I don’t like Trump or Bloomberg. I think our healthcare, education, and housing is fucked and should be socialized.

I just think it’s stupid how much reddit hates capitalism. The world is a cruel place. People are assholes. Life isn’t fair. The government can’t create a system to change that.

Socialism only works if people love their jobs and never want more in life.

If someone told me that no matter how hard I worked, I would never be able to attain X because things are supposed to be equal, I would either say fuck you and go and attain X because I can, or I would be spiteful and do 0 work and actively look for opportunities to fuck the government.”

15. To serve and protect.

“Cops.

Yes, we need to reform how police forces are trained and be able to hold them accountable for their actions. But the broad sweeping generalizations that people make about how all cops are horrible and you’re afraid you are going to get shot when a cop pulls you over for a tail light is ridiculous and makes for an unproductive conversation.

I do honestly believe there are good cops out there and there are people who go into the job wanting to serve their community even though it is a high stress job.”

Now we want to hear from all the readers out there.

In the comments, tell us about the things you think get hated on way too much.

Please and thank you!

People Talk About What Gets an Unwarranted Amount of Hate

A lot of people are haters.

It’s sad but true.

Some people hate on things because they don’t understand it. Other things get put down because they get too big or popular.

And some people hate things just because they’re negative and they like to be, well, dicks.

But some things out there get a lot of hatred and it doesn’t seem warranted.

Let’s take a look at what AskReddit users had to say.

1. Looking for some respect.

“Robert Pattinson. Sure, he got famous for the “Twilight” movies, and no, they’re not very good; but all of the weird independent films he’s made after that really scream that this poor guy just wants to be appreciated as an actor.”

2. Grosses some people out.

“The word ‘moist’.

I’m just describing this nice cake I’m eating and you’re acting like I’m reciting ancient curses from the Satanic bible.”

3. Remember them?

“The most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the mid 1990s, the Barenaked Ladies.”

4. Don’t hate the player.

“Basically anything that everyone under the age of 15 is into.

The irony is, the majority/plurality of people that hate on it; the thing that they were into at that age was the thing the Internet hated at that time in the same way.

“fortnite bad minecraft good”? I remember when Reddit (and the Internet in general) didn’t like Minecraft because it was full of “cringy pre-teens” in the exact same way that Fortnite is “hated” now.

I guarantee you, in 5-7 years time, Fortnite will be seen in the same way as Minecraft is seen now. It happened with Minecraft, it happened with Call of Duty, it happened with Runescape, it happened with Halo.

Heck, the likes of World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons always used to be stereotyped as “that game that only loser nerds in their mom’s basement play” (which was a dumb assumption to begin with), but now anyone and their dog can say they have an account/campaign and no-one bats an eye – you’d be raked over the coals for admitting that a decade or so ago.”

5. I love ’em!

“Vegetables.

I eat them regularly since I was a kid and it just blows my mind that there are people who take eating vegetables as punishment or they need to “learn” to like it or cook it because somehow they find it disgusting in raw state. I cant imagine not eating at least one kind of vegetable once a day.”

6. Nothing wrong with it.

“Shitty Beer.

Look, no one is making you drink bud light or coors. You can also choose not to drink if the beer that is provided to you is that bad.

I say this as a person who drinks way more than I should and chooses not to drink shitty beer.”

7. Don’t worry about it.

“Pop music.

Don’t like Taylor Swift? Don’t listen to her music. It has literally never, in the entire breadth of human history, been easier to find music that fits your taste.”

8. Yeah, this is weird.

“iPhone/ Android hatred.

Who the f cares what phone other people have!? I like my apple.

Why do people have to tell me their Android is superior and my phone is trash when they see that?!”

9. Another shot?

“People who have been in jail.

I mean they already paid for their crime. Can we let them have a regular job and  join society again without spitting on them for the rest of their life?”

10. Girly?

“Probably late to this, but I felt I should add, Men who are into “girly” things.

Like any male who likes something “girly” instantly gets criticized by the entirety of society, including their own parents, like wtf is up with this?”

11. Bang your head!

“Most metal bands.

Worst thing is, people who don’t listen to metal couldn’t give less fucks about these bands.

It’s the damn metalheads always criticizing bands for changing their sound too much or always sounding the same, or for sounding too much like other bands, or not sounding enough like their genre, or switching genres, or changing their aesthetic or not changing it, or being posers, or the feared going mainstream.

It’s like metal bands get a free pass on their first album and from there on it’s the shit avalanche.”

12. Teen stuff.

“Teenagers.

Especially teenage girls who dress similarly and act similarly. It happens in every single generation and will happen until the end of time. Everyone that age is impressionable and wants to fit in. You probably were too. It’s a part of life.

Grow up, stop gatekeeping everything, and stop trying to make them feel even more insecure all the time, especially if they aren’t even doing anything to you.

I saw a grown man the other day refer to a teenage girl wearing leggings and a generic “teenager-ish” outfit as an “abortion that should have been” and she didn’t even interact with this person, or really do anything at all. What kind of psychopath says that about a kid??

If you don’t like them, who cares. They’re teenagers. If you let teenagers just existing piss you off, you have a problem.”

13. I love Florida!

“Florida.

The Florida weirdness is a result of a transparency in government law that releases police report data to the public almost immediately (scrubbed of identifying information to protect privacy IIRC). That’s why you get all the “Florida Man _____” headlines where other states don’t have them. The state police were required to issue a bulletin and the news wires just babysit the feed waiting for interesting stories.”

14. I’m not a fan…

“Pineapple on pizza!

It’s actually weird cause so many people eat weird things together, but pineapple on pizza gets hate for some reason.”

15. Have some fun!

“Old people doing young people trends.

They just want to be a part of the fun.”

16. They do get a lot of hate.

“Nickelback.

The only explanation I ever heard for all they hate they get was that they were on the radio all the time.

This maybe due to the (done zero research on this) Canada having to air Canadian artists for a certain % of airtime. Heard the same of Bieber.

A reason the US hated on them is they also had an insane amount of airtime on radios because their music (studio/producer/whatever) was cheaper than most. And, like other commenters have pointed out, they are pretty talented.

So they were just hard to escape if there was a radio nearby.”

Some very interesting replies there…

What do you think?

The ‘OK’ Hand Sign Is Now Considered a Symbol of Hate

In this age of social media, you never know what’s gonna happen. Things are weird. Perhaps an everyday symbol will be co-opted by nefarious groups and turned into an emblem of hate? Does that seem far-fetched?

Well it shouldn’t because that’s exactly what happened with the ‘OK’ hand sign that we’ve all used countless times.

This is actually a problem for me – I use it a lot…

It seems like a harmless gesture, right? Well it was, but it’s not anymore. The Anti-Defamation League recently added the ‘OK’ hand gesture to its Hate Symbols Database. The hand sign has become associated with far-right and white supremacist groups on the Internet, causing its new classification.

Oren Segal of the Anti-Defamation League said, “Context is always key. More people than not will use the OK symbol as just ‘OK.’ But in those cases where there’s more underlining meaning, I think it’s important for people to understand that it could be used, and is being used, for hate as well.”

The ‘OK’ gesture has been pushed as a uniting symbol by far-right commentators and personalities in public and on message boards online. It originally started as a prank by users on the 4chan message board to flood social media outlets linking the hand sign to the white power movement, but it has since caught on and become a legitimate hate symbol.

Oren Segal said, “Over the past couple years, we’ve seen that the hoax was essentially successful in being applied by actual white supremacists. In many ways, they took what was a trolling effort and added it to their list of symbols.”

As ridiculous as it might sound, it’s important to keep up to date on these kinds of developments when they are brought to light. With hate groups and hate crimes on the rise, we should all know the symbols of the far-right so we can be informed and aware at all times.

If you’re curious about what else is out there, take a look at ADL’s Hate Symbols Database to keep up to date.

10+ People Reveal the Things They Hate That Everyone Else Loves

We all have examples of this sort of unpopular opinion in our lives: things that everyone in the world seems to love that you just HATE. Could be a movie, a band, a trend, food, etc.

People on AskReddit revealed the things they really don’t care for that everyone else loves. What’s yours?

1. No thanks

“Take me out to eat for my birthday and get the waitresses to sing and smear cake in my face.”

2. Dummies

“To be irresponsible. FFS I’m not going to a party in a town a few dozen kms over without knowing how will I get back home. And even if I did, you can bet I wouldn’t spend all my money on booze.

They got stranded there, over 50km from home, with no money, with no one that could go get them, at 8 am.”

3. Weird

“Calling out to strangers pretending to know them. Walking up to them. Having a proper conversation and after they convince the stranger they met somewhere before saying oops wrong person…”

4. Different groups of friends

“Two different groups of friends. One loves heading out to places on the weekends where there’s always pounding music and shots, the other would rather stay in and watch netflix all weekend.

It’s killing me trying to drag either group towards a happy medium. I just want to go out somewhere for casual drinks where we can actually hear a conversation.”

5. Seems kinda pointless

“Buy the most expensive clothes and then not wear them again and buy more after a month or so.”

6. Nerd alert!

“Magic the gathering. Now I shouldn’t say I absolutely hate the game, I just never could get into it. What I absolutely hate is when we all get together to hang out, and they all end up playing for hours while I sit there not caring.”

7. Introvert

“Going out and bar hopping. Too much money and too many people. I’ll get faced at home, thanks”

8. Crappy

“I have friends who are in a really crappy punk band. I like punk, but their band is god-awful.”

9. No sex talk, por favor

“Unbeknownst to most of my friends, I am still a virgin. I don’t like hearing them talk about sex. It freaks me out.”

10. Anti-social media

“Taking pictures to post on social media. Can’t we just do something without having to talk about how many likes we’re getting!? It’s so annoying to me, I couldn’t care less. I mentioned this to one of them and apparently it was offensive. We’re in our mid-twenties. No one gives a s**t that we went out. Also I think it’s embarrassing to take a bunch of pictures over and over because they don’t like any of them, like get over yourself!”

11. I would not be friends with this person

“Horror movies. They go to the cinema on the regular to see whatever slasher-jump-scare movie is playing, but I just don’t enjoy it. I tried. I really did.

Now I either go and see a different movie that’s playing at the same time, or just meet them for drinks afterwards. It’s a good system.”

12. Let’s move on

“Get together and talk about their children. I liked it before when they had a personality and I could talk about more than 1 topic.”

13. Mallrats

“Hang around the mall. They never even get food while they’re there, they just look at clothes for 2 hours and leave! I just wanted Auntie Anne’s.”

14. No kids allowed

“This bar and grill that allows children after 10 p.m. My roommates and I come from the same city and they’re friends with some mutual acquaintances who have a daughter, so they always go to that place on Saturday nights because they can’t be assed to pay for a babysitter.

I’m not even a kid person in the first place, I refuse to have my Saturdays held hostage to a child.”

15. Let’s go to White Castle instead

“Going somewhere “nice” almost always entails some complicated booking system where we’re told we’ll get our table for 90 minutes only, and we have to jump through hoops if the party is larger than 6, somebody needs to leave a credit card number. You can sit down till everyone’s there. Half your group just want to instagram stuff so there’s that. The food is good but fussy and overpriced, you don’t want to say it but the steak you had at your local spot for a fraction of the price is more pleasant. If the order is not quite right you feel awkward or that you’re making too big a deal of it. Everyone’s sort of anxious and tense because we’re all uncomfortable both psychologically (ehh this is a place where some drinks cost more than my car) and physically (had to dress up to fit in). just can’t resist them.

I’m all for places that have better quality food, I’m 100% about getting out of my comfort zone and yes, sometimes it’s nice to be a little fancy. When I look back on some of the “ohh let’s go somewhere special!” evenings, objectively speaking I did not enjoy it.”
