Are You Always Running Late? Here Are 8 Ways to Be on Time.

If you are ALWAYS late, then you may only vaguely know how much you’re annoying your friends, family, co-workers and bosses.

Sometimes lateness is truly out of your control, but when it starts to be a habit, it’s clear you need some strategies.

Scroll through this list of 8 tools that will get you on the road and showing up on time.

1. Never explain why you’re late.

Only apologize for the trouble your lateness caused. Soon, you’ll begin to see how many excuses you were throwing out for your constant tardiness, which can make you more aware.

2. Think about how someone constantly being late affects you.

Late people are irritating, and that’s how people see you.

3. Give yourself the grace of being somewhere first by at least 5 minutes.

That few minutes is a gift to give yourself. Check your email or social media on your phone with your newfound free time – or just get yourself ready for whatever it is you need to do.

4. Wake up an hour early and get a jump on your morning routine.

You’ll get to work on time and you’ll have already crossed off a few things on your to do list.

5. Set different named alarms to prompt you through your morning routine.

That way, you’re not lingering over your breakfast or in the shower longer than you wanted.

6. Use music to get out the door on time.

Make a playlist with a song for stretching, a few songs for breakfast, some for showering and dressing and then a final energetic tune to get you on the road.

7. Add a few minutes to travel time to account for last minute searches for keys, sunglasses or your other shoe.

You’ll be grateful too for a few extra minutes to find a parking spot or wait for the train.

8. Pack your stuff up in the evening and have it ready by the door.

If you have everything ready to go the night before, then you won’t waste precious minutes searching for it.

All of these steps are totally easy. Incorporate some of them and you’ll find life a little less hectic and a lot more productive.

According to Science, You Can Only Have up to 150 Friends

No matter how incredibly charming you are, there is apparently a natural limit to how many friends you can have: and that number is 150.

It’s known as “Dunbar’s number” because British anthropologist Robin Dunbar came up with the figure. Dunbar defines a friend as “the number of people you would not feel embarrassed about joining uninvited for a drink if you happened to bump into them in a bar,” and back in the 1990s, he asserted that people can only maintain 150 social relationships that stable at any given point in time.

Dunbar went on the claim that we devote 40% of our social time to the five people who are closest to us. The next 20% is devoted to the next closest 10.

These numbers are now widely accepted in social science. Some companies, like W. L. Gore and Associates (the producers of Gore-Tex) even limit the size of their offices to 150 employees.

Dunbar’s number didn’t appear out of thin air; he came up with it by studying primates. He found that primates with bigger brains were able to track more social relationships, and from his research he predicted an average human social network size of 148 based on the size of the human brain.

Then he rounded up.

Not all social scientists agree with Dunbar. But the 150 figure is consistent with other figures throughout history, such as the estimated size of neolithic farming villages and the average size of army units from Roman times to the present day.

So, the next time you want to gently turn down a new friend, just tell ’em you’ve already reached your Dunbar number.

Step Aside Christmas, Ugly Halloween Sweaters Are Here

I’m not trying to tell you have to live your life, but you need to get on the Ugly Halloween Sweater bandwagon!

Ugly sweater parties were once only reserved for Christmas. It’s the hot holiday trend where your friends go out and buy the most hideous or blinged-out sweater to wear with pride to your party. Sometimes there were even prizes. But Santa Claus is passé – the Great Pumpkin is bringing it for 2019!

Halloween themed ugly sweaters are here, and they’re the perfect solution for your few friends who refuse to dress up for your Halloween party. Now they have a less involved option that keeps them participating in the spooky festivities.

Where can you find them?

Amazon has several available to fit your creepy fancy. Varieties include witches, Dracula, and even pumpkins.

And for the more reserved woman? Cardigans with skeletons!

FUN Wear is one of the biggest manufacturers that’s embracing all that is Halloween.

“COMFY COZY SPOOKY: We’re bringing the ugly sweater trend to the Halloween season with our exclusively made and expertly designed Ugly Halloween Sweaters. They’re Made by Us, and they’re Comfy Cozy Spooky!”

And if you’re more of a traditionalist who enjoys regular sweatshirts. No…um…sweat!

Even the kiddos can have fun dressing up. They offer many children sizes!

“But what if I don’t get invited to a party?”

No worries my friend, you can still strut your awful knit. Parents might enjoy wearing these while they trick or treat with the little ones – it’s low cost, low maintenance, and you won’t distract from you kid’s incredibly cute pumpkin costume or whatever.

Seems like they thought of everything!

Here Are the 7 Types of Cookout Dudes Who Show up at Every Summer BBQ

Summer’s end is almost here, which means back to school. It also means the end of grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. But before we get ahead of ourselves, there is still time for a few more BBQs. And you’re be bound to spot at least one of these dudes at your next cookout…

7. The Grill King

This is the guy who runs the show, flipping burgers and making piles of meat to celebrate bro time in the back yard. He is the epicenter of a cookout, and without his grill smarts your backyard is just a lame hangout.

6. The Grill Pals

Yep, we’ve all seen it. Those bros that linger around the Grill King, chugging a beer while making comments about the best ways to grill – whether or not they have any idea what they’re talking about. But really, without the Grill Pals’ commentary, perhaps the meal would be less…I don’t know…manly?

5. The Lawn Gamer

This dude gets the festivities going. He’s probably the one that totes around cornhole waiting for that right moment to spark a backyard competition. He’s super competitive, but always willing to give someone else a turn.

Or at least a guest shot.

4. The Can-I-Get-You-a-Drink Dude

No party is complete without that friendly guy offering to get the Grill King an extra spatula or to refill everyone’s drinks – it’s crucial guests don’t go without! We should all raise a beer in his honor.

3. The Bonfire Buddy

You might have noticed your one friend chomping at the bit for a fire even if it’s 2 in the afternoon. He’s always scoping out kindling and asking the host if he has firewood. But once twilight hits, he’ll be rocking the best hangout fire you’ll ever experience.

This guy is a solid addition to any sort of hang, cookout or no.

2. The Music Man

He’s a what – he’s a what?

Lol.

What is a cookout without ambiance? This guy knows how to set the mood for a great party. He’s probably got a Bluetooth speaker stashed somewhere for when the mood strikes. What’s great is he always has the best playlists ready on his Spotify app!

1. The Grill King’s Best Friend

Nope, we’re not talking about a Grill Pal. The Grill King’s “number one” is his dog.

And what’s great about having a four-legged friend around? He’ll clean up any delicious food scraps that fall on the ground.

A Man Who Was Annoyed with a Classmate Realized His Own Selfishness and Shared the Lesson He Learned

Sometimes we think to ourselves, the nerve of some people. Invading our space and spreading their belongings everywhere. Don’t they know this public territory is spoken for?

In fact, aren’t there some among us that would prefer way less people around? People are annoying! Wanting to make friends and showing interest in us is a complete invasion of privacy and rights. And… and privacy.

Seriously, mind your own business and leave us alone.

Because of that kind of thinking, every once in a while, someone comes along to remind us that we are not the center of the universe (gasp). Maybe, other people live on this planet who are worth getting to know because they are really nice, decent individuals. Perhaps, just even knowing their stories make us better people.

What follows is a perfect example.

It all starts with a battle student Thomas McFall fought every single day of Management class. He always took the same seat. Some foreign dude was always already there with his stuff piled on the desk. McFall felt this guy should know by now not to take up the space on his desk with his bag, food, books, phone, etc. But every day was the same day.

McFall would walk into class and this guy would do and say the same thing every day. Come. On.

McFall has had it with this guy.

But one day was different.

Another student was aiming for McFall’s seat.

Because of his narrow view of other, maybe strange, people, he didn’t see the situation for what it was–a gesture of friendship.

McFall decided to spend a little more time with his formerly annoying classmate.

He discovered the guy’s story–his humanity.

He’s in another country, away from his family. Piling his stuff on a classmate’s desk was his way of trying to make friends.

If it wasn’t for the day McFall was running behind, he would have never realized the whole picture.

Instead, he would have an unpleasant memory of his Management class with an annoying foreign guy who piled his stuff on the desk. He would never know the reason behind the high five. And he would never had this gentle lesson on compassion and the benefit of giving someone else the benefit of the doubt.

That’s a lesson we should all carry in this awkward, annoying world we all have a right to inhabit.

You Can Buy a ‘Friends’-Themed Furniture Collection from Pottery Barn

You need to throw on your workout gear and run to Pottery Barn while flailing your arms like Rachel Green!

Why? Because this retailer will have merchandise from Friends!

The best part? The apothecary table!

The famous episode, “The One With The Apothecary Table,” shows Rachel purchasing said table for her apartment, which she shares with Phoebe. Monica warns her that Phoebe is against mass-produced products, so Rachel fibs and tells her friend that the new table was from a flea market. The entire episode is filled with Pottery Barn plugs, as Rachel goes nuts buying up anything Pottery Barn.

Things like the “ornamental Birdcage – Large,” a telescope, and more.

Though these products were not available at Pottery Barn then, they will be soon!

If you are an overly-crazed Friends fan, this is the perfect way to get your apartment to start looking like the show. It’s unclear exactly what will be sold (other than the table), but PopSugar.com says there will be “14 products ranging in price from $13 to $1,099, and the line has everything from decorative accessories to furniture and textiles.”

So why haven’t we been graced with these treasures of TV past before?

Well, Friends is celebrating the 25th anniversary of it’s start (it ran on NBC from 1994-2004). I suppose this is Pottery Barn’s way of tipping their hat to the famous show.

I think Phoebe would approve.

Could you be any more excited?
