Woman Asks if It’s Disrespectful for Not Wanting the Ring Her Fiancé Previously Gave to Someone Else

Let me say right off the bat that giving a woman an engagement ring that you already gave to someone else is not a great move.

I have a hard time believing that any woman out there would be really psyched about that…and that brings us to today’s story!

A woman shared her story on Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole” page about an incident that set her off.

Here’s what she had to say.

AITA for not wanting a ring my fiancé already gave to another girl

“My now fiancé was engaged a couple years before we got together, and they broke up and she gave the ring back.

We’ve been together a few years and a few days ago, he proposed and I was super excited. The ring looked kinda familiar and when I asked him where it was from, he said it was the ring he gave to ex fiancé.

I immediately took it off and was like “I don’t want a ring you bought for someone else, it wasn’t meant for me.” He got upset and said it didn’t matter, because it’s not hers anymore it’s mine.

My family and friends are split in saying I’m the *sshole and I’m justified.

I don’t want him to spend a whole other thousand dollars on a ring for me, but I want a ring that was meant for me, not for someone else.

AITA?”

And the people of Reddit, as they like to do, weighed in with their thoughts.

This person got right to the point.

This Reddit user said that she knew her husband would never do something like that and she let that fact be known loud and clear.

It’s bad juju!

But this person came to the man’s defense and said he just made a mistake and that this incident is not worth breaking up over.

Another person made a great point: rings don’t have to be pricey, but they have to be personal.

Preach!

And this person called the guy’s move “tacky as hell.”

But then another reader weighed in and said that the guy was not in the wrong and that both of them need to reevaluate the whole situation and not let a ring get in the way of their relationship.

Okay, now we want to hear what YOU think about this situation.

In the comments, share your thoughts with us?

Is this woman an *sshole, or is she right on with her feelings?

Thanks in advance!

A Man Died When He Dove Underwater to Propose to His Girlfriend

In a terribly tragic accident, a man dove into an underwater room to carry out what should have been a romantic proposal — but he never made it out.

Steven Weber and girlfriend Kenesha Antoine were on vacation together in Tanzania. They stayed at the luxury Manta Resort, famous for its floating accommodations and underwater rooms, BuzzFeed reports.

Kenesha was in the underwater room when Steven decided to pop the question. Already underwater, he tapped on the glass to get Kenesha’s attention, then showed her a message written on paper along with a ring.

“I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But… Everything I love about you I love more every day,” the message said. “Will you please be my wife. Marry me???”

“I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But… Everything I love about you I love more every day.”

Kenesha says he didn’t make it out of the water, so he never got to hear her answer: “Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!”

“We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruelest twist of fate imaginable,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I will try to take solace in the fact that we enjoyed the most amazing bucket list experiences these past few days, and that we both were so happy and absolutely giddy with excitement in our final moments together.”

The Louisiana couple had booked four nights at the resort. The Manta Resort told the BBC that Steven “tragically drowned while free diving alone outside the underwater room.” CEO Matthew Saus said that his staff responded to a “problem in the water” but when they arrived “absolutely nothing could be done.”

“I will find you and marry you in the next lifetime, and the next, and the next, and the next… I love you so much, and I always will,” Kenesha wrote.

How absolutely devastating. Our thoughts are with you.

A Photographer Shoots Senior Citizen Couples in Engagement-Style Photos

These are delightful.

Sujata Setia is a London-based photographer who takes engagement-style photos….but with a little twist. She shoots elderly couples as if they were celebrating their newfound love.

A brilliant idea, don’t you think?

Setia explained how she got started:

“I noticed…that people only came to get photographs taken with their children and spouses. I never had a client asking me to take photographs of their parents or grandparents or even photos of their children and parents.

So I decided to divide my work time into two parts. I spent one half of my month photographing my clients the way they wanted me to and the other half was dedicated to requesting grandparents and great-grandparents (who I would invite via model calls or would randomly approach in public places) to come and be photographed by me with their grandkids.

On one such shoot in Houston, Texas, this year, I noticed that while I was photographing one grandparent with their grandchild, the other grandparent was just standing silently in a corner. So, for the sake of their memories together, I asked both grandparents if I could photograph them together… and I haven’t stopped doing that now.”

20 years ago they sold their house in exchange for a camper van. Ever since then they have been travelling the world… holding hands. I was fortunate enough to have found them in Dublin, Ireland… as they were walking past the storm… still holding hands! . To love… . . . “Looking back at our life together, I realise I should have loved you the way you wanted to be loved. Holding hands. Surprises… just without occasion or reason. Slipping in ‘I love you’ into casual conversations… none of it made sense to me back then. But it does now!! . And so I ask you today. Setia continued, “Whichever country I visit, I make sure I photograph elderly couples there together and I cannot express how fulfilling this has been for me. The stories I hear of their lives together… and the pure and honest love that I witness in the course of these shoots is just beyond amazing.”

Beautiful and heartwarming, to say the least.

Woman Shames Her Engagement Ring on Reddit, Everyone Goes Nuts

Proposing marriage is one of the scariest things someone can do. It’s a moment that’s full of emotions, ideally a celebration of the love between two people. But when the bride-to-be finds the ring before her future fiance can pop the question, and she hates the ring instantly… that certainly complicates things.

Recently, a woman found her engagement ring stuffed into her boyfriend’s nightstand. She then proceeded to post a pic to a ring-shaming group online. The reaction on Reddit was less than sweet, and maybe for good reason…

The woman offered up a roast and an “EWWWWW” and asked Reddit users how to “tactfully say no” because she wanted something different. I think we passed “tactfully” the moment this picture was posted.

Reddit users spun out in different directions, from offering advice:

Or lightening the mood:

To defending her:

While a majority tore her apart:

It probably goes without saying, this marriage will be off to a “rock”-y start.
