Here’s the Science Behind Why Canadians Drink Milk in Bags

Canadians have a much different way of consuming a classic component of American cuisine.

Take a walk down a Canadian grocery store and you may wonder what’s inside that gigantic bag that weighs nearly 10 pounds. Could it be rice? Or how about flour?

Nope, that would be milk. Inside the bag are actually three bladders of milk. Most people place the bladder inside a pitcher, snip a corner and pour for consumption.

So what’s the reason behind the prevalence of milk in bags in Quebec and other parts of Canada?

As usual, the difference can be explained by science.

During a period where glass bottles often broke and resulted in wasted product, Canadians resorted to a different solution thanks to their use of the metric system.

Because liquids had to be sold in liters, manufacturing plants would have needed to make radical adjustments to meet the new requirements.

However, bags did not require such an extensive overhaul.

Plus, they produced less packaging waste.

By the late 1970s, four-liter packages of milk became the standard in Ontario, and customers continued to pick up on the trend.

In fact, milk served in bags has started to make its way to other parts of the world. You can now find bagged milk in South Africa, Hungary, and China.

Even a school in Nebraska started serving kids milk packaged in Capri Sun-esque pouches.

No matter how you consume your milk, it’s best to keep it fresh. So whether you’re a bottle loyalist or you’ve broken the mold and gone with the bag method, at least you’re following mom’s orders to keep those bones strong and healthy.

Have you ever drank milk from a bag or pouch before? Would you try it out even if you drank bottled or cartoned milk your whole life?

Jameson Is Releasing a Limited-Edition Cold Brew

Yes!

I love whiskey. I love Jameson. I love cold brew.

So I think I’m really gonna love the new Jameson Cold Brew. The iconic Irish whiskey brand is releasing a limited-edition whiskey with a cold brew coffee flavor.

It seems like a lot of companies are jumping on the cold brew train, so why not a famous company like Jameson?

The drink is made with 100% Arabica Beans from Columbia and Brazil. You can enjoy this concoction any way you like, but the company recommends drinking it on its own, poured into a cold brew, or in an espresso martini. I’ll take all three, please!

AND – this is the best part – Jameson Cold Brew has 17mg of caffeine per shot of whiskey, so you should get a shot of energy while you start to get boozy. It’s a win-win!

On their website, the folks at Jameson said, “This is a perfectly balanced combination of our smooth Irish Whiskey with hints of toasted oak, dark chocolate and a rich coffee aroma.”

A lot of alcohol companies are getting into the coffee game, so this is not out of nowhere. Last year, Pabst Blue Ribbon released their “Hard Coffee” to consumers, while Jägermeister launched a cold brew coffee in 2019, as did SKYY Vodka.

Remember, this is a limited-edition special, so don’t sleep on it – you can order the James Cold Brew HERE. Count me in!

What do you think? Are you gonna give it a shot? Do you like your booze with a little caffeine? Tell us what you think in the comments! Bottoms up!

Mountain Dew Lovers: Get Psyched, Because There’s Now a Scented Candle Just for You

Most of us have a favorite soda. Mine happens to be good old Coca Cola Classic. But it doesn’t have much of a smell to it, does it?

Then there’s Mountain Dew, which has an unmistakable aroma, whether you’re a fan or not.

Well, a genius is now capitalizing on that smell and we’re all better for it. An Etsy shop called 716 Candle Co. is selling Mountain Dew-scented candles for only $15 a pop.

And in a Mountain Dew can, no less.

The candle is made from 100% soy wax from soybeans grown in America, and it’s supposed to burn for 40 hours (what a deal!). You can also get the Diet Mountain Dew version if you’re a bigger fan of that soda.

It looks like this company also has a Dr. Pepper candle, but it’s currently sold out. Keep an eye out that one to add to your arsenal!

Mountain Dew Will Launch a Peach-Flavored Drink Called ‘Happy Dew Year’

Some people absolutely love Mountain Dew…and then there are those who think it’s kind of revolting.

Love it or hate it, a new Mountain Dew flavor is headed your way very soon…a peach-flavored soda called ‘Happy Dew Year.’ The new flavor will launch on December 16, 2019.

According to the Mountain Dew Fandom wiki,

“Happy Dew Year is an upcoming Mountain Dew flavor that will be officially released in stores on December 16th, 2019 and until at the end of 2019 or in early 2020, in the United States as a limited edition flavor for the New Year’s season 2019-2020. It was first leaked via a Reddit conversation which was talked about being some kind of an upcoming soda.”

This news comes shortly after the announcement about Mtn Dew VooDew, a creepy mystery flavor.

People on Reddit seem to be pretty stoked on the new peachy flavor:

“If this is real, I’m gonna have a new favorite dew.”

“Nice to see them dewing more holidays. From Dew.S.A to Dew Year. For Valentines day, instead of Cupid it could be Dewpid. Or, Will U Dew Me?

Will certainly shake this up like a champagne bottle and pour it in a champagne glass. And store some for 20 or so years, let it age…”

Mountain Dew is clearly not messing around – they’re trying to keep their fans engaged with some new, exciting products.

People are still anxiously awaiting official news and details from Mountain Dew about this new concoction, so, for now, you’ll just have to sit tight and wait for that big announcement. Something to look forward to, right?!?!
