Disneyland in Shanghai Is Implementing New Safety Guidelines and Practices

You can’t be too careful these days. Germs are everywhere, as well as potential safety hazards.

Theme parks, in particular, can be especially daunting if you’re worried about your safety. But at least one park is taking steps to make guests safer these days.

After being closed for several months, Shanghai Disneyland is back up and running again and the park has instituted some new safety precautions that are pretty clever.

For example, they’re asking park-goers to stand far apart from each other while watching shows to prevent the spread of germs and disease.

And they’re asking everyone to wear masks for the same reason:

And people seem more than happy to comply:

Meanwhile, in the United States, other Disney properties are making similar changes.

The shopping, dining and nightlife area Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, is also again open to guests.

They’re encouraging people to wear masks and limit their contact with people and items around them, including garbage cans:

Restaurants are also only using half their tables:

And park staffers are checking visitors’ temperatures:

It will certainly be interesting to see if other theme parks and related attractions follow suit in the coming weeks. And, perhaps more importantly, will guests follow these new rules?

A Mom’s Video About her Bullied Son Went Viral. The Internet Shows Their Support and Will Send Him To Disneyland.

Social media gets a bad rap sometimes, but sometimes it can help create some truly life-changing moments.

Take the story of young Quaden Bayles, for example. The 9-year-old boy was born with a form of Dwarfism called Achondroplasia and his mother, Yarraka Bayles, recently shared a distressing video of her unconsolable son reacting to being bullied at his school in Australia.  In it, the young boy talks about killing himself because he is so upset.

This is the impacts of bullying! I seriously don’t know what else to do! 😭

The video went viral in a massive way and has touched people around the globe.

Quaden said about his story,

“The parents should make them be nicer to kids with disabilities.

If you get bullied stand up for yourself and don’t listen to what they say.”

His mother wrote in a statement,

“Quaden Bayles’ family would like to take this time firstly to thank everyone for the overwhelming show of love and support from so many people from all around the world.”

A comedian with Dwarfism named Brad Williams was so touched by the video that he set up a GoFundMe page to raise $10,000 to send Quaden to Disneyland.

As of today, he’s raised almost $275,000!

The money that isn’t spent on flying Quaden and his mother to the U.S. will be donated to anti-bullying and anti-abuse charities.

A bunch of other celebrities have stepped up to support Quaden as well on social media, including one of Australia’s most famous sons, Mr. Hugh Jackman.

Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan of ‘The Walking Dead’ also showed his support.

Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter tweeted his love too!

And the National Rugby League Indigenous All Stars asked Quaden to lead them out onto the field for their match this weekend.

 

Don’t you love it when social media is used for good?

Keep your head up Quaden, and don’t ever let anyone out there make you feel like you don’t deserve the absolute best in life!

These Disney Tricks Could Make Your Day at the Parks Even Better

Disney parks are some of the most magical places on earth, and most people who have visited might be inclined to agree. They dot their i’s, cross their t’s, and go out of their way to make sure every guest (no matter the weather or the lines) has a truly wonderful experience.

That said, they’re still theme parks, which means there are headaches that go along with the magic – but the 10 people below have some really great tips on how to mitigate at least a few of them.

10. Check out RideMax.

“A few years ago, my friends surprised me with my first trip to Disneyland and they used a RideMax subscription to maximize the amount of stuff we got to do. You put in the rides and events you want to do, and it uses an algorithm to plan your day out, taking into account FastPass retrieval and historical wait times. You can include blocks of free time so you don’t feel rushed. We spent the whole day there, went on 20 rides.” —brushbender

9. Take advantage of the morning after.

“Go to a park the day after Evening Extra Magic Hours. Everyone will have gone the night before and the park should be quieter.” —Wicked_smaht_guy

8. If you want a cheap meal…

“If you want a cheap, ongoing snack from the park for the duration of your trip, get one of the souvenir popcorn buckets! They’re $10 up front, and then $1.50 for refills all day every day. This Is Why ‘Walt Disney World’ Got Walt’s Name and Disneyland Didn’t

There are a lot of differences between Disney World and Disneyland. One small difference that you may not even be aware of is in their names. Disney World’s full name is Walt Disney World, while Disneyland is just Disneyland. What’s up with that?

Let’s start at the beginning: Disneyland came first. It opened in 1955 in California. The name, Disneyland, was likely chosen because it was a natural choice for a theme park at the time. Other contemporary parks bear names like “Fairyland” or “Playland,” so “Disneyland” just makes sense.

Over a decade later in 1966, Walt Disney released a promotional video to announce that there would be a second Disney theme park in Florida. This one would be called Disney World, likely because it was on a much bigger plot of land than Disneyland.

It’s not clear why he went with two words for Disney World, while Disneyland is just one word, other than the fact that “Disneyworld” doesn’t look quite right.

Disney World wasn’t originally going to have Walt’s first name attached, but he passed away in December 1966, before the park even got into the construction phase. His brother, Roy Disney, postponed his  own retirement to help out with the Disney World project, and he decided to add Walt’s name to the park as a tribute.

And that, folks, is the only reason that one of the parks’ names has Walt in the title – as a tribute from a sibling to his recently deceased brother.

The First-Ever Customer at Disneyland Has Gone Back Every Year Since It Opened in 1955

Going to Disneyland is a feat that requires months of pre-planning and budgeting. But one man gets to go every single year for free, and he has been since 1955.

Dave MacPherson has a lifetime pass to Disneyland for a very special reason: he was the park’s first-ever customer.

On July 17, 1955, Dave was a 22-year-old college student in Long Beach, California. He was at home watching Disneyland’s opening festivities on television when he got the idea to be the first person to enter the park on opening day. He switched off the T.V. and traveled 10 miles by motorbike to get to the park. He arrived at 2 a.m., and sure enough, he was first in line. Over the course of the night, 6000 other people joined the line behind him.

After Disney’s family members and celebrities entered, Dave became the first actual customer to buy a ticket and set foot inside the park.

Dave doesn’t know what happened to his historic admission ticket. He did, however, keep a copy of the complimentary card that came with it. The complimentary card allowed Dave to enter the park for free on July 18, 1955. He didn’t get to use that card because he had to ride his motorbike back home to Long Beach.

But thankfully, he was also awarded with a lifetime pass to the legendary amusement park, which he has taken advantage of every single year since—and Dave’s still going strong!

MacPherson says about his luck, “”You might say that 1955 was a very good year for a youthful Scotsman!”

This Mom Thinks People with No Kids Shouldn’t Be Welcome at Disney Parks

We all know the lines are long and there are too many people at Disney on any given day, but why should the single people be the ones to stay away? Who says Disney is only for kids?

This lady, I guess, but from the sound of most of the responses, not a whole lot of others.

When I see CHILDLESS COUPLES WITHOUT AT DISNEY WORLD!!!!! DW is a FAMILY amusement park!!!! Yet these IMMATURE millennials THROW AWAY THEIR MONEY ON USELESS CRAP!!!!

They have NO idea the JOY and HAPPINESS it is to MOTHERS WHO BUYS THEIR BABIES TREATS AND TOYS!!!! THEY WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE THE EXHAUSTION THAT IT IS TO CHASE A 3 YEAR OLD AROUND AND GETTING STARES AT ASSUMING IM A BAD MOTHER!!!! This c*nt in some very SLUTTY shorts was buying a Mickey pretzel and Aiden wanted one but the line was very long so I said later and it broke his poor little heart and he cried I WANTED TO TAKE THAT FUCKING PRETZEL FROM THAT TRAMP LIKE THANKS BITCH YOU MADE MY SON CRY!!! DW is for CHILDREN!!!!

People without CHILDREN need to be BANNED!!!! Mothers with children should be allowed to skip ALL THE LINE!!!! YOU HAVE NO F*CKING IDEA WHAT ITS LIKE TO HAVE TO STAND IN LINE FOR 3 HOURS WITH A CRANKY TIRED EXHAUSTED TODDLER!!!!!
