At the San Diego Comic-Con in July, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed what the first two years of Marvel’s Phase Four will look like.

A Bunch of Men on Twitter Came Unglued at the Mere Mention of a Female Playing ‘The Joker’

Male comic book nerds continue to flip out about gender-flipped heroes (and villains), even though Dr. Who, the Ocean’s cast, and Ghostbusters have all been rebooted with women at the center (and Wonder Woman was, arguably, one of the best superhero movies to come out in recent memory).

Case in point: writer Geraldine DeRuite jokingly suggested reasons why the Joker should be re-cast in the new Batman to be a woman.

Her reasons were pretty hilariously on point, too…unless you’re a man with fragile feelings and stuff.

Because guys. They cannot handle it.

At some point @everywhereist started playing misogynist Twitter Bingo and became the hero we all deserve.

Moral? Be careful what funny and insightful thoughts you decide to put out there on Twitter.

The misogynists are waiting….

Endearingly Honest Illustrations Show the Real Side of Any Relationships

Growing up, you see a lot of relationships depicted on TV and in movies, and it all seems so romantic and beautiful and perfect. The whole “happily ever after” thing, you know?

But then you grow up and you realize that, while being in a stable, loving relationship certainly does have those elements to it, there are also plenty of moments in between that aren’t TV-worthy, but are the essence of what being in a relationship entails on a daily basis.

Artist Amanda Oleander is based in Los Angeles, and her illustrations bring viewers behind closed doors to show what relationships are really like when no one else is around.

Scroll through these photos and let us know if these scenarios look familiar.

Drawing 46/100 of the drawing a day for 100 days challenge challenge. This is inspired by this past weekend laying by the pool with @joeyrudman he was looking at me without saying anything for a bit and then said “I love looking at you.” And I immediately said “I’m drawing this.” We tried to get a photo of us this weekend but they were all posed of course since we don’t have a personal photographer photographing us candidly so here’s an illustration of what really happened. This Comic Brilliantly Explains Why It’s OK For Some Women Not to Want Kids

We all know that becoming a parent is a hugely significant milestone. Creating and then raising your own little human can be intensely rewarding. It’s important to recognize, however, that there’s no such thing as a universal life choice. What might be great for me may be a living hell for someone else, and there’s nothing wrong with either of our choices.

Society likes to put a lot of pressure on people – women, specifically – to have children once they hit a certain age. That’s something that illustrator Kate McDonough has had a lot of experience with, and she decided to outline her feelings in a comic strip for her comic, “Pretty, Pretty, Ugly.”

Being a parent is a massive responsibility, and not everyone is cut out for it. Isn’t it actually more unselfish and responsible to recognize that about yourself and simply opt out of having kids, as opposed to being a terrible parent?

At the end of the day, it all boils down to this: if you want to have kids – great! If you don’t want to have kids – great! There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all lifestyle for ANYONE. Make your life choices based on what’s best for you, as opposed to what anyone else might want you to do.

Stan Lee’s 1968 Column Denouncing Racism is Just as Powerful Today as it Was Then

On November 12, 2018, Stan Lee – the man who gave us iconic Marvel superheroes like Spiderman, the X-Men, and so many more – passed away of old age. What made his creations so truly compelling is that his characters were so human. They took on social problems of the time, and dealt with some very human problems.

For many years, Marvel comics also included a column called “Stan’s Soapbox.” This column served as a vehicle for Lee to express his views on a wide variety of issues. Back in 1968, one of those columns dealt with the problem of racism, and it’s recently taken on a new life as it circulates around Twitter.

“Bigotry and racism are among the deadliest social ills today,” Lee wrote. “The only way to destroy them is to expose them.”

Lee retweeted the column in 2017 after the white supremacist march on Charlottesville, Virginia. The tweet said, “As true today as it was in 1968. Pax et Justitia -Stan,” according to Mashable.

Lee introduced the world to Luke Cage and Black Panther, and often used his X-Men comics and characters to expose prejudice and bigotry. His honor, humor and wit will be greatly missed by fans.

Weng Chen, a mother and the illustrator behind The Messycow comics, decided it was high time people saw how parenthood changes men as well as women.

“I don’t have big chunks of time to work, it’s always a couple hours in between chores and taking care of the kids,” she told Bored Panda. “But it’s fun and meaningful to document my children’s growth, as well as mine.”
