Where’s Herb?

Burger King launched a $40 million ad campaign in November 1985 called “Where’s Herb?” The idea was to find a character named Herb who’d never been to BK. Other chains pointed out that if Herb wasn’t at BK, it meant he probably liked other chains’ burgers more. Burger King profits fell 40% in 1986.

Burger King Trolled IHOP over Its Big Change and It Was Hilarious

This is why the Internet was invented, people. After news broke that IHOP (International House of Pancakes for the uninitiated) changed it’s name to IHOb (International House of Burgers), fast food burger chains couldn’t just sit on the sidelines. Wendy’s weighed on, but it was Burger King that decided to really burn IHOP, I mean IHOb, on social media.

“Pancake King.” Has a nice right to it, don’t you think? Burger King even changed their cover photo to this for a while:

Restaurants Have Hilariously Savage Reactions to IHOP Becoming IHOb

And it turns out that the general public aren’t the only ones keen to ridicule the former pancake chain on the change of fare…the people who run the Twitter accounts of several other restaurant chains also had thoughts.

Hilarious thoughts.

For April Fools Day in 1998, Burger King took out…

For April Fools Day in 1998, Burger King took out a full-page ad in USA Today introducing a Whopper designed especially for lefties. The new burger would contain the same ingredients as the original, but rotated 180°. Thousands of customers swarmed BK restaurants requesting the “lefty” Whopper. 00
