Stories of Times When Sex Went Hilarious Wrong

Everybody has their favorite sex story.

They’re usually not about the times we just had really good sex; that’s more of a personal thing you kind of treasure for yourself. No, the stories we share are when things went bad, or weird, or hilarious. That’s the good stuff. And lucky for us, now there’s a giant collection of these stories on Reddit. It all started with this prompt:

What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you during sex? from AskReddit

And the answers came pouring in. Here are just a few of the best ones. (I’m sure you realize this, but you’re about to venture into NSFW territory.)

1. The Double Wind

We both farted at the exact same time, whilst maintaining eye contact.

– Amber-Dragon

2. It’s Nerf or Nothing

We’ve been in an ongoing Nerf war since I want to say February.

Recently she pulled a pistol from underneath her pillow and shot me point-blank while I came.

– Poops_McClanahan

3. The Craigslist Paul Rudd

I met a guy off of craigslist once. I only share this story with my closest friends, so here goes nothing.

I was trying to get over someone I loved who had just moved away, so I decided to do this on a whim.

The guy from Craigslist literally looked like the spitting image of Paul Rudd. No joke. So I was like “fuck yes let’s do this”.

We started making out and our clothes started coming off. Things start getting hot and heavy.

I grab his hair to pull on it a little, and

It fucking comes off.

His hair was in my hands.

I realized within about five seconds of silence that I had just pulled a toupee off of his head.

– aglassofmerlot

4. Not Getting Your Deposit Back

once was at an Airbnb and the bed was making a lot of noises and mid fuck the headboard broke off and fell on top of us

– heymynameisjack

5. “Meetings”

Gf and I are both working from home, which has led to mid-day quickies – our “meetings.” It’s awesome. Little bit of role play. I’m a lucky guy.

Anyway, last week we’re right in the middle and my phone rings. I’m certain it’s my boss.

So I stop and run out to the living room to get my phone, but I’m still wearing socks and I slip rounding a corner and just completely hit the floor.

No grace at all.

So I answer the phone and I’m laughing at myself and out of breath from the sex, and my boss is confused as to why I’m so amused at the news of other people getting furloughed. So he probably thinks I’m an asshole. – Gf and I are both working from home, which has led to mid-day quickies – our “meetings.”

6. Call Me Kyle

Ex boyfriend had a daddy kink. During sex he asked me who he was. I’m the dumbest person on earth so I responded with “my boyfriend?”

He said no and asked again. “Kyle?” He said not quite. It then clicked in my head and I broke out laughing during sex.

– captain-slammi

7. …What?

A horse put it’s head in through the car window and licked my butt as I was in the throes of passion with a lady

– XavierBreff

8. It’s Catchy

Me and my friend occasionally have had sex on three occasions and the last time I was eating her out, she had music playing.

Some advertisement that we would ALWAYS sing along to came on and without having to say anything to each other we both popped our heads up, sang along with the ad, then got right back down to business.

We didn’t realize how funny it was until WEL after we had finished.

– giguiou

9. Doing My Best

One of my exes loved dirty talk but I was still relatively inexperienced in that field and one time while she was riding me she starts doing the dirty talk and goes “are you gonna cum for me baby?” and my response was “well I’m gonna try.”

She started laughing but we kept going anyway

– p_t_dactyl

10. Ssssssmokin’

Had a second date with a guy. He stayed the night. We made out but didn’t have sex… then the next morning, I definitely blew him, and as he was cumming, my roommate, who had been cooking bacon or something in the kitchen, set off the smoke detector.

Something about the timing of the alarm going off as he was getting off just really made me laugh.

– blizzaga1988

11. Too Hot to Handle

I accidently wipped my Dick off with a paper towel that was previously used to wipe hot sauce off my hands……….

Imagine sticking a lit cigar on the tip of your penis…

– putnamto

12. Junk Beds

Hostel in Rome. One of those cheap rooms with about eight bunk beds per room. Right on the other side of the wall was the communal area/bar.

I had been flirting with this kiwi girl for most of the night. At one point, we discover the bedroom is empty, so we close the door and go at it.

About ten minutes in, the bunkbed collapses on us. About twenty people rush in at the sound of the crash and screams.

We got teased pretty unmercifully for the rest of the night.

– Roland_T_Flakfeizer

13. Nature is Beautiful

Animal sex came on the TV when we were getting started and then my girlfriend couldnt stop laughing

– ThatGuyIsGeneric

14. Toying with Me

My GF was finishing me off in her mouth after we had been going at it for a while, and the exact moment as she grabbed my balls my dog chewed, woth perfect timing, on a squeaky toy.

It was like getting a BJ in a cartoon.

– Zeryot

15. Sweet Nothings

I don’t know why but we were laughing at something before we had sex and it just kept on popping inside our minds while we were having sex so we ended up laughing while we were doing it until we finally stopped having sex just so we could have a good laugh.

In the end, we were too exhausted from laughing that we just fell asleep naked.

– Mist3rTryHard

One time while alone in my room, my bed started to move on its own. I got so freaked out that I went to the kitchen to try to settle myself, where I heard an eerie moaning. At this point I was convinced my apartment was haunted. That is, until I realized I was actually hearing sex moans coming from upstairs, and the reason my bed was moving was that me and my roommates’ beds were up against the same wall on different floors. The apartment was being haunted by hanky panky.

People Discuss Life Decisions They Made That There Was No Turning Back From

Life is about choices and sometimes they can be tough and can have drastic repercussions.

But, every once in a while, you just have to commit and take a leap of faith, no matter what the situation is.

Here are some good, true stories from folks on AskReddit about times in their life that they thought, “now there’s no turning back!”

1. A big life change.

“I remember the day my ex husband texted me and said “you don’t seem very happy with me.”

I knew there would be no going back once I said “I’m really not.” Starting over completely was really hard, but now I’m married to someone who makes me super happy and it makes all the hardships worth it.”

2. Thankfully, now feeling better.

“A bit dark but…when I took a bunch of pills in a suicide attempt.

It was around 10 pm on a Tuesday night and I had just gotten into an argument with my Mom. I layed down in my bed and thought about my life, considered asking my Mom to take me to the hospital, but decided against it. I thought, “Welp, this is it. I’m dying.”

Then I fell asleep. I took more than the lethal dose of Seroquel XR but somehow woke up in the morning, slow, but perfectly fine. I consider it a glitch in the matrix, but one I am grateful for. This was in August 2019, and I’m doing a lot better now. Still struggling, but not suicidal.”

3. That sounds scary.

“When I decided to venture alone on a hiking trail through the Brasilian rainforest, realized there was no phone coverage after half an hour, kept walking for another hour, and finally saw a sign of civilization.

A literal sign. Just that. It said ‘beware of coral snakes’.”

4. Now you’re in for it.

“Getting off the bus and immediately getting yelled at in Great Lakes for Navy bootcamp.”

5. A terrifying experience.

“Hiking, knowing that severe, SEVERE weather is on the way.

I got about 8 miles in when it started. Dense woods but rain was heavy enough that I couldn’t see 10 feet in front of me. Crossed a small creek half way through, which on my way back turned into a river from flash floods.

I found a somewhat large rock sticking out from a hill and huddled under that for about 15 minutes while lighting struck close enough to hurt my ears and seriously rumble in my chest.

Ended up having to follow the creek upstream until it got small enough to cross, which turned what was originally 2 miles of hiking trail, into probably another 8 through raw forest, maybe more as it was pitch black when I got back to my car, and I had started at noon. Spent those hours balling my eyes out and slipping in mud lmao

Easily in the top five most terrifying experiences in my life.”

6. We wish you luck.

“Giving my notice to my boss last Friday. I’m across the country from any friends and family, and I have no job lined up. If I stay here I’ll wind up a shell of a person.

So I’m quitting and moving back home with only my savings and the grace of my family to catch me.

No going back now. Wish me luck.”

7. Point of no return.

“Moving to Europe.

For my husband, it was moving home. For me, nope. But I have a rare disease and American insurance was about to actually kill me (kept denying medications, I was getting worse and worse) and he managed to get an amazing job in a great city to try to save my life.

So five years ago, we’re two hours into our flight there, THE flight where we’re moving forever, and I was too sick to visit first or anything so I’ve never seen it before, and I’m realizing, I’m not actually well enough to fly back to the US, who knows when I’ll see anything or anyone from again, and this is it, and…

Suddenly, I’m just a bit panicking gone. Like, “What is plane? Where is air?” The flight attendant was offering me a cup of tea at that almost exact moment and I just stared at my husband, who is a former Marine and has done all of these insane things, and he looked at me and goes, “Take. The. Tea.”

I felt like an idiot version of Neo in the Matrix. “If you take the tea… the flight keeps going and you see how far this rabbit hole goes. If you don’t take the tea… this poor flight attendant stands here looking like a fucking idiot for even longer.” So anyway, I took the tea from the dude, and then I guess it worked because who can panic while trying to make tea?

Turns out it was truly the point of no return. It’s been five years. The insurance is MUCH better than the US, they’ve kept me alive when I definitely would have died, but I’m too sick to actually leave. I couldn’t even go home for my grandmother’s funeral. So… shit, there really was no going back. Unless something kicks in, new treatments etc, I doubt I’ll ever see home again.”

8. Breaking away.

“I ran away from an abusive home at 19.

I called my dad while I was at work later that day to let him know I was okay and not to come looking for me. He’s a narcissist and I was so scared he’d tell the authorities something crazy so they’d track me down for him, like my boyfriend kidnapped me.

I’d left my car keys on the kitchen table so he couldn’t charge me with stealing it, as he bought it for me, emptied my bank account (because he was friends with the small bank owner) and taken everything I could with me- and that was a pretty big one. He said “you’ll never make it without me and my money” and I just said “I can’t wait to find out.” That was seven years ago now, and I’m making it.

9. Going for it.

“When I was on my way to see a girl I had been talking to online for three months who lived on the other side of the world. Just put all of my eggs in one basket and said “fuck it”.

The “shit, no going back now” feeling really hit when the plane took off.

That girl is now my wife. Sometimes you just gotta go for it.”

10. Alone in the woods.

“That first time being dropped off on the Appalachian Trail several states away from home and watching the car speed off into the distance with nothing by my own legs and a stick I found to get me back.

I love that stick.”

11. Intense.

“Walking down the ramp of a C-17 in Bagram, Afghanistan.

Days later I’d be at an outpost in the middle of fuck all Afghanistan, doing patrols and occasionally having tea with locals who also shot at us sometimes (it’s boring out there I guess?)

I learned a lot though. Naan is dope, all doggos are good, and kids are the same no matter what continent you’re on.”

12. Losing my religion.

“The day I quit my religion.

I had been having doubts for sometime but then one day I just put all the puzzle pieces together and realised that it’s not the truth.”

13. Gonna tie the knot.

“I was meeting a guy on Grindr.

I had pulled into the driveway and still had the chance to leave. But it was a decent lookin place so whatever i walked up to the front door. The moment i saw him in the window, well even then i coulda backed out.

He opened the door and grabbed my hand, that was the moment. I couldnt go back at that moment.

2 and a half years later, im gonna marry this man.”

People Discuss Their “Oh Sh*t, There’s No Going Back Now!” Moments

Sometimes, you just have to go all in, you know what I mean?

It’s usually debatable whether that’s a good idea or not, but once in a while, you’re thrown into a situation and you just decide to go for it all the way and not turn back.

Are you ready for some true “no turning back” stories?

Here are some very entertaining stories from folks on AskReddit.

1. Didn’t want to do it…

“When I was younger, letting my older cousin talk me in to a canoe ride down a flooded river. We’d planned it days in advance but there was a lot of heavy rain in the area and the normally calm river was near flood level and quite rough. I really didn’t want to do it but I didn’t want to let him down either so I still went. I knew as soon as we saw the river this was a terrible idea.

The whole thing was a shit show and I honestly though we were going to die. We had no control and at one point we got stuck nose down and a large rock, knowing if we tipped out we were drowning. We somehow made it out and to the shore where we walked back with the canoe.”

2. You’re a hero!

“Stepping off that sandbar I could barely reach to swim out to the girl caught in a riptide…and not knowing how a riptide worked. It took what felt like hours but, spoiler alert, we made it.

Too early in the season for lifeguards. I remember calling out to people walking their dogs on the beach but we were so far out they didn’t even look towards us.”

3. Living the hobo life.

“I hopped a freight train once, and the moment it hits 15-20 mph, you’re just along for the ride.

But the real “no going back” moment came when the train stopped on a siding outside Winnemucca. After waiting there for like 5 hours, I decided to walk into town and get some ice cream sandwiches. As soon as I got 50 yards from the train, I realized: if it starts rolling now, I’ll be too far away to chase it down. I’ll just be stuck in this town for a while.

For you kids out there, riding freight trains is dangerous and illegal (and dirty and loud and unreliable). Don’t do it!

Also, I should point out that Winnemucca is home to some of America’s best Basque restaurants, fantastic cowboy heritage sites, and it’s the gateway to the Black Rock Desert! It’s got something for everyone–not just stranded hobos!”

4. Like a war zone.

“While motorcycling through Vietnam it was getting late and I was running low on fuel. Too low to turn back to the previous town. If that wasn’t bad enough, my bike rack broke. Luckily, a kind man and his daughter stopped to help. He knew no English outside of, “I can fix.” So I followed him.

I wore my bags and held the rest in my lap. Entering the town, my jaw dropped. It was complete calamity. The streets were filled with people carrying 2x4s, rocks and bottles. Literally hundreds of people.

It was like a war zone, with people smashing scooters and cars on fire, people yelling and fighting. A few individuals were running for their lives with mobs in tail. (I can still vividly see one man’s face as he looked over his shoulder in dread.)

There were too many people to drive through, so I had to slow down to a crawl. All I kept thinking was, “Please don’t notice me. Please don’t rob me and smash my face in. Please know I’m with this kind man and his daughter.”

The moment lengthened as a few of the town folk started to notice me. I was scared shitless but produced a warm smile. The smile wasn’t returned. The kind man looked back and those who were taking interest in me noticed. Can’t help but think it helped.

We finally breached the throng of people and pulled down an alleyway to his place. I still didn’t feel safe, but I needed gas and my rack fixed. I tried to ask the man why all these people were fighting one another. He just smiled and made the drink gesture. (It was during Tet, or the Vietnamese New Year.)

He fixed my rack, gave me some gas and wouldn’t take any money as payment. However, like Christmas, the kids receive money so I gave his daughter a fat wad of cash. (With his blessing.)

About 45 minutes later I arrived safely at my hostel in Ninhvana.

Just so everyone knows, the Vietnamese people are some of the warmest and kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. So helpful, so caring, so giving without expecting anything in return.

When I shared this story with other Vietnamese friends I made, they said I was never really in danger. It was some town uprising but travelers are rarely ever hurt or attacked. At worst, you might get scammed for some money.

Also, Vietnam is one of the best countries to travel for a million reasons.”

5. Sounds scary to me.

“Salvia.

Never again. Only lasts five minutes, but holy shit does it feel like an eternity. It’s like your entire reality gets smashed into thousands of pieces and you’re desperately trying to piece it back together, or getting thrust into the space between the multiverses and you’re trying to figure out which one you belong in again.

Having your consciousness merged with a red solo cup on the dresser is the kind of experience a man needs no more than one of in his life.”

6. Extreme sports.

“Mountain biking with some friends on a new trail, which wasn’t even a bike trail. We hiked most of the way up since it was too steep to ride up. Carried our bikes all the way up.

Rested at the top for a bit and then rolled over the edge. I remember as my front tire crested and gravity started taking over I thought, “there’s no way I’m stopping now, unless a tree stops me”.”

7. We’re done.

“When my abusive husband was doing his weekly ritual of interrogating me and accusing me of some made up infidelity and goes “Well?! What’s the deal here, are we just done??”

Before I could stop myself I was like “You know, yeah, yeah we’re done.”

He didn’t know, until that moment, that I had already spoken to a divorce lawyer and the police and had all my ducks in a row to take the fuck off. But I was planning on actually meeting with the lawyer before I told him, so then it was 2 weeks of awful Jekyll and Hyde bullshit before I could leave.

I have to say, even though I was like “oh shit”, it did feel so fucking good to say it though.

Fuck that guy.”

8. In the mountains.

“Hiking back country snowboarding with a guy. Got stuck in a flat area and needed to hike out in deep powder. It was getting dark and kept coming out of thick trees to 50 foot plus cliff areas.

It was getting darker and we didn’t have much light left and finally came out to another cliff area with about a 10 foot cliff, 20 feet of landing and then a second 10 foot cliff area that had a narrow landing to an open glade. It was either go for it and don’t fall and get hurt or start making a snow tunnel and get ready to sleep on the mountain for the night at East Vail Chutes in Colorado.

We both made it through the cliff jumps safely but it was sketchy. When we got to town we both had a couple tall whiskeys and the first bar we got too and I was still shaking. Could have possibly died if we had to stay on the mountain over night or got seriously hurt (and then died) making the jumps to get to an area we could get down as it was getting dark but it was either jump or start making a snow shelter.

We were definitely not prepared with back county gear and got lost in the area even though we had both ridden it a few times with some experienced people who had taken us down before.

Scary and something I will never forget.”

9. Going for it.

“Canoeing over a waterfall.

First time I did a waterfall I thought I was gonna die. I’d been whitewater kayaking for over a year, had all my safety trained friends there with me, yet that feeling of going over and looking down at the hole just made me go ‘yep, I’ve gone too far’.”

10. A bad idea.

“Here, try this hot wing.”

Took a bite and for the next 18 hours, I could only focus on how this was a crime against humanity.

And for those now asking, it was The Last Dab XXX on a drumstick. It was coated all over. I just ate one big bite.

And then I went and shoved my head under a cold shower. Then, it was bed and bathroom for several hours as I threw up most of it, but some got digested.

I knew going it that it was gonna be hot. My former roommate was a hot sauce aficionado. He never once handed me a wing that was less than a habanero sauce. The question was “am I about to have ghost, pepper-x, Carolina reaper, habanero, etc”.”

11. Here I am.

“Solo moving to a new country.

My plane touched the ground at about midnight in Stockholm and I was like “shit, I’m 23 and I live alone in Stockholm.”

No going back now.”

12. Over and out.

“I can remember walking away from my ex wife in the airport. She really thought I couldn’t do it. It’s been four years and I can still remember that feeling knowing she was behind me now.

Yes, sometimes people actually split up in airports, I know it’s a cheesy movie cliche.”

13. Here’s a long one.

“Refusing to serve a customer for the first time ever. It may seem small but it felt like a big win.

I work at a cafe and a woman very rudely asked me for a 16oz hot coffee. We don’t offer that (we just make pour overs, yeah we’re an expensive bougie shop) and I tried to kindly explain to her why but told her I could make her 2 coffees if she likes as long as I stick with the recipe. She demanded I change the recipe, I said no, I can’t. She spotted a 16oz cup behind me and asked “WHATS THAT.”

Things were already very tense and I grabbed the cup and explained “this is 16oz cup but it’s only for cold brew. It looks similar to the hot cups but this one is compostable, made from sugarcane and will melt if hot liquid is poured into it.” She grabbed it out of my hand and demanded I made her 2 coffees and pour them into the cup.

I said I can’t do that, the cup will melt. She told me she would do it herself (which also wouldn’t work because she would have 24oz of coffee for a 16oz cup).

At this point other customers were in there giving me the “oh shit she’s crazy, i’m sorry you’re dealing with this” sympathetic eye. I knew if she poured the coffee into that cup and burned herself we would have a bigger issue. I said I can’t do that, i’m sorry. She demanded I make it again, saying “YOU WILL MAKE ME TWO COFFEES.”

She spoke to me so horribly and condescendingly. There was never a please, she spoke to me like a servant, and she was creating a safety hazard. I took a long pause and looked her right in the eye and said, “I’m sorry, I can’t let you speak to me that way and I won’t serve you.” She was shocked! She was appalled! The cafe was silent.

My coworker came out from the back and the customer held her card out to her and said “she won’t help me so YOU will. I’ll have 2 coffees.” And my coworker looked at her and said, “I don’t know what’s happening because I just got here but I trust my coworker so i’m sorry but I won’t serve you.”

It was SO COOL! Yes the woman yelled at us, berated us, mocked my voice, claimed I called her ‘abusive’ screamed that we were wrong, demanded our names and corporate’s contact.” I stayed so calm the entire time.

Once she left multiple regulars and customers offered to back me up if I needed support explaining the situation to my manager. I’ve worked at my company for years and am consistent and trusted. I called my boss immediately and explained the situation.

They received an angry voicemail within minutes and stood by me and my coworker, send a generic “sorry about your experience” email but not offering her any compensation.

It was seriously one of the best feelings. I stood my ground when in the past I have crumbled or allowed myself to be treated poorly in these types of situations. I asked for the respect I deserve as a human being and my coworkers and bosses supported me. Try it out sometime, it rules!!!”

Former Anti-Vaxxers Talk About Why They Changed Their Minds

The fierce debate over whether to vaccinate or not vaccinate has been going on for years at this point.

And, as you know, there are very strong opinions about this on both sides.

But it does seem like a lot of anti-vaxxer people do eventually make their way over to the other side for one reason or another.

Let’s take a look at these stories from AskReddit users who did just that.

1. Young minds.

“I was a teenager and used to believe that if I got sick, my immune system would handle it and make me stronger. Like most youth, I believed I was invulnerable. I figured, thousands of years of ancestors had survived without vaccines, and so could I.

It was years before I realised that before vaccines, people didn’t just “heal the viruses away” – most of them died or were crippled by illness their whole lives.”

2. Reading is good for you!

“Hard to say, but, reading. Honestly.

I was on the elderberry/colloidal silver/whatever natural bullshit flavor of the week in my late teens – early twenties.

Could dig up some obscure study from the 1960s to support it, “well flu shots aren’t 100% effective, what’s the point? Have you see all the people who get sick from it?” etc. etc.

Simply put, I had bad advice from some of my father’s vitamin shop, Libertarian, naturopath, whatever friends.

In grad school I took more statistics classes, keep reading about data analysis, started to learn what significant sample sizes meant, common logical and statistical fallacies and…surprise…most antiscience nonsense doesn’t hold up empirically at all. There’s just no data to support it, and requires torturing of statistics and misrepresentation to defend their case.

Luckily I don’t have some epic story of a family member dying from a preventable disease, but it’s still embarrassing to think back how arrogantly I was convinced I was more clever than the actual doctors and scientists.”

3. Yeah, that’s a good idea.

“I don’t really know why I didn’t like the idea of vaccines but I didn’t until my girlfriend had gotten pregnant and then I stepped on a rusty nail.

Like the only way to stop tetanus is the vaccine.”

4. Listen to grandma.

“Kind of boring, but I have a whack job grandmother who believes in all the pseudoscience health BS. Crystal healing, electromagnetic communications cause cancer, vaccines are bad, eat apricot pits to cure cancer, the whole 9 miles.

When I was a kid she tried to teach me all of this stuff like it was gospel, and I believed her because I was a kid and why would my grandmom be wrong about something?

Unfortunately for her the minute I turned like, 7, I got a huge hyperfixation on biology and quickly learned that all the stuff she spouted was utter bs.

I’m autistic, and I was like the stereotypical autistic kid where they just know a fuckton about one particular subject and devour any kind of learning material related to it they can get their hands on (I’m actually still like that… except now I can get a degree for it).

It was not hard for me to realize that none of the things she believed made any sense, even as a kid.”

5. Crazy ex.

“My ex husband was a very controlling person and did not want our kids to get vaccines. I was always so scared knowing my kids had no protection. One day one of our kids scraped themselves on a fence and the school called me.

I snapped and took them straight to an urgent care for a tetanus shot and just started secretly getting all my kids vaccines. We eventually divorced and now all my kids are fully caught up.”

6. Living the natural life.

“I was a stereotypical, naturalistic vegan type. Didn’t believe in essential oils or crystal healing or anything. Just believed (mistakenly) that you couldn’t beat nature and that vaccines were messing around with my baby’s natural immunity growth.

I believed they were an unnecessary risk. I knew my decision was controversial so I kept it quiet, I wouldn’t have been out campaigning or splashing it all over social media, it was a private decision.

I held off until he was 2. We don’t routinely vaccinate for chickenpox here in the UK so he got it which is expected. However he got a bacterial infection on top and had to spend a night in hospital.

Nothing too traumatic but I realised I didn’t have the balls to play nature vs. medicine anymore.”

7. Radicalism.

“I read an article about a mom who changed her view on vaccinations because of how radical the anti-vax groups were. A lot of them were anti-gay, anti-abortion. And so crazy about all of it. Pro the dumbest shit, like oils. Pushed the agendas of things that were obviously false.

It made her step back and change her entire outlook on the anti-vax movement. I wish I could find this article, it was pretty interesting. Probably on Facebook. But she made great points against them.”

8. Feeling kind of dumb about it.

“I wasn’t really an antivaxxer by today’s standard and definition, but back then I did question the validity of it. I used to wear my tinfoil hat back in the Facebook days and delved into some wacko shit like the usual Illuminati, lizard people, hollow moon and other shit.

I guess after I grew apart from my friends who were also into all that I gradually came back to reality and realized how dumb it all is.”

9. The result of anxiety.

“I realized my reasons to anti-vax were actually rooted in anxiety (result of childhood trauma) and not because I was against vaccinating. The process started a little over a year ago, I just had my 3rd, and I was homeschooling my eldest (kindergarten).

The initial push to dealing with it was the regret of not being able to enroll my eldest in public school, and my newborn being at risk by having unvaccinated siblings. I took a hard look at my choices and why I hadn’t vaccinated my first 2, and every last one was because of fear and guilt. I found a rock star pediatrician who didn’t once judge me, and got all my kids caught up.

I have 3 fantastic kids that are now fully vaccinated, and I am successfully on the road to recovery so I can be the best person I can be for my kids. They deserve it!”

10. Hit the wall.

“Well, after years of deluding myself into the belief that vaccines were evil, I finally hit the wall. I learned more about vaccines and why they were really necessary.

I think it was my fear of the unknown that prevented me from seeing that science saves lives. I had a really good teacher in that regard and it ended up being a pretty great time in my life.

I mean, on top of realizing that shots weren’t bad things, I started getting an allowance and my 10th birthday party was fucking lit.”

11. A bunch of propaganda.

“I was caught into the antivax propaganda after my younger sister was said to have autism.

Reddit helped me change my mind, with People providing evidence of antivax’s stupidity.”

12. Stop listening to your parents.

“I grew past the age of 12 and realised how stupid my parents have been.”

13. Maybe they’re not out to get you…

“I had a phase in my early 20’s where I hopped on the alternative-everyone wants to secretly poison you train.

Mostly because of some people that influenced me that time and it’s fascinating how easy you can slip into that mindset mostly because it is indeed partly true, like big pharma or other mostly money-motivated people/companies do actually do a lot of shit that is not helping people but quite the opposite but it’s not like single doctors or scientist want that, they mostly want facts and the truth and for people to gain knowledge.

An education with simple medical basics quickly made it clear to me that a lot of anti-vax and all the other shit people believe is either total nonsense or only a small part of the truth that ignored anything else from a medical standpoint.

There is a reason why there are rules in place to determine if a study can be taken as meaningful because if you only know part of the truth it’s easy to mistake plain coincidence or correlation for causation.

But I think with these hardcore conspiracy-theorist it has nothing to do with facts or truth it’s about their mindset that anybody is out to get them, they are basically a constant victim to their own mentality.”

14. Mom was wrong.

“I grew up and realized my mom was wrong thanks to my now husband convincing me. I got many vaccines in college and I’m doing just fine.

My mom gave us some vaccines like the tetanus vac, but that’s about it.”

15. Learned your lessons.

“My now wife was an anti-vaxer. I generally go with what she says most of the time because I cannot be bothered to argue. However, when we were discussing getting married and having kids I was surprised at how strongly I felt about.

I was prepared to walk away from the love of my life rather than not vaccinate . I gave all of the reasons (I’m from a third world country and she is European. I have seen too much shit from a lack of vaccination program to sit on the fence on this).

She came around. When our first was born he was quite ill. I don’t think we were in danger of losing him but just that tiny bit of danger reiterated the point of protecting them and others from illnesses. My wife is now more on top of the vaccination dates for our kids than I am.

A friend of hers had a baby recently and expressed some anti vaccination sentiments. My wife calmly told her that not only would she be putting her own kids in danger but that she would be weaponising her child against others.

Quite a turnaround.”

Wow. These people were pretty honest about why they changed their minds about this issue.

How about you?

Did you used to be an anti-vaxxer and now you believe it’s the right thing?

People Talk About the Things They Think Only Exist Because Humans Are DUMB

Poeple can be…pretty dumb. Actually, they can be REALLY dumb.

It’s sad but true and we all need to admit it at some point in our lives…

In this article, people answered this question:

“What only exists because humans are dumb?”

Here’s what AskReddit users had to say.

1. Oh, really?

“Recently (last couple years) TV ads started adding a sentence in the commercials:

“Do not take trivexica if you are allergic to trivexica.”

What happened to make that a thing that they need to mention now? Why the hell would anyone knowingly continue to put a drug in their body if they knew or realized they were allergic to it? Answer: people are stupid.

I get that it’s to protect them legally, but it’s mind blowing to me that it needs to be said even to do that.”

2. Yeah, don’t do that.

“Warnings on hammers saying this object can cause damage if you strike yourself.”

3. What are you doing to that fish?

“Some really strange laws, like handling fish suspiciously can end you up in jail in the UK.”

4. Come on…

“Wearing this costume does not enable you to fly.” -tag on a Superman Halloween costume.

Jerry Seinfeld had this joke. I liked his follow up.

“I want to meet the person dumb enough to think that this might make him fly, yet smart enough to think to check the instructions.””

5. Why not?

“Several warning markings like, “dont put your cat inside your microwave”.”

6. Wait, it’s round?!?!

“The belief of a flat earth.

My favorite story about this lunacy is the flat earthers who spent $20,000 for a piece of scientific equipment that measured the rotation of he earth in order to debunk it.

When the machine performed exactly as expected and proved what we all already know, their response was along the lines of, “hmm. Something’s wrong. We’ll get back to you.” They paid $20K to disbelieve their own eyes.”

7. These people.

“Anti-vaxxers.

If only all those children in iron lungs back in the 40s knew about lavender oil…”

8. That’s horrible.

“Measles. In 2000, measles was nearly eradicated, but then anti-vaxxers brought it back to popularity.

I should mention it was nearly eradicated in the U.S.A. Measles is still very prevalent in other places around the globe.”

9. Oh, that’s what it is!

“The warning on my dad’s old motorcycle saying “This is a motorcycle and only to be used as such.”

For clarification: the original Warning is in german and I translated it. For those interested it said: “Dies ist ein Motorrad und nur als solches zu gebrauchen.”

10. Not a good idea.

“Warning signs next to large waterfalls, cliffs, any other potentially lethal terrain.”

11. Haha, never thought of that.

“The word “AMBULANCE” written in reverse on an ambulance.

For those people that don’t realize that the huge vehicle behind them, with the flashing lights and siren is, in fact, an ambulance.”

12. Boom!

“Modern politics.

If we were smarter there would be a better collective decision making process.”

13. Poor kids.

“You know those labels on buckets with an upside down drowning baby?

Yeah, probably had to start using those for a reason.”

14. That never ends well.

“Warning signs on chainsaws that say “do not attempt to stop blades with hands or genitals”.”

15. THEY’RE EVERYWHERE.

“Pyramid schemes.

The fact that people actually fall for them….”

16. A classic!

“Please remove plastic wrapper before putting the pizza in the oven.”

17. My brother did this before. He’s really smart.

“Don’t know what it’s called but at the gas pumps the mechanism connected from the pump to the hose unlocks when people forget to place the nozzle back and drive off.”

18. Some good advice.

“Debt consolidation companies.

First hand experience:

I was desperate due to my own stupidly and got myself into too much credit card debt when I was in my early 20’s. Looking for an out I called a debt consolidation company. They told me to not pay my credit cards that I wanted to compile for months until they got sold to a lawyer. Well once I ruined my credit.

They took all those loans and tried to settle payments. After they denied. I had to go to court for each card and settle with a one time payment thusly putting a judgement on my credit report. It wasn’t until I was 33 or so that I actually fully recovered from it.

Pay your bills and never try to exceed what you can’t pay out of pocket, that way when you do have an emergency you can afford it easier by using credit.”

Kind of makes you lose a little faith in your fellow humans, doesn’t it…?

Okay, now we want to hear from all of you out there!

In the comments, we’d like to hear how you’d answer this question.

Please and thank you!

Internet Trolls Share the Biggest Sh*t Storms They’ve Caused Online

Online trolls are everywhere. At this point, they’re just a part of the fabric of social media and they’re not going anywhere.

And they get a big feather in their caps when they start fights and arguments online that spiral out of control.

Seriously, this is what some people do for fun…

Trolls opened up on AskReddit and talked about the biggest shit shows they created online.

1. That’s actually pretty funny.

“I got into an argument with some guy on an Australian friend’s Facebook status (I do not live in Australia). It escalated and he ended up private messaging me, saying he’d beat me up and so forth.

I looked at his profile to see where he lived and worked, and looked on Google Maps to find a supermarket or something in that area. Told him to meet me there and settle it like a man.

About 20 minutes later he starts asking where I am and cussing me out for being a pussy and not showing up. I’m sitting in bed (it was like 10 pm my time) in an entirely different country laughing my ass off”

2. Cheap Potions.

“Back in my WoW raiding days I was in a guild with weekly donation requirements for raw materials used in potions/food. The guild would then hand all of us consumables on raid night.

The idea was to prevent people from being cheap on raid night by making sure people actually used them. The problem was that the potions we received most of the time were the cheap ones.

I figured they were selling the materials for gold and then selling the gold for money. So I logged into my brothers account and sent the GM a message about buying some gold from him. He sent me his Skype info and I took screenshots of the whole discussion.

I dropped the bombshell during raid night in Ventrilo with the screenshots and 50+ people in attendance. People were LIVID and you just saw “so and so has left the guild” as well as 30+ minutes of the GM and his wife being berated.

The GMs wife yelled at me in Ventrilo and I said “that’s what you get, you cheap potion having ass”. We made a new guild called “Cheap Potions”.”

3. Causing trouble.

“When I was in middle school, I made a fake facebook account of a pregnant teenager. I added a ton of people who went to this one random ass high school in Indiana (I’m nowhere near Indiana) and ended up with maybe 400 friends from there. People kind of just assumed that I was from their area.

I posted regular updates (headless belly pics I found on the internet) and would make statuses about the progress of my pregnancy. I even posted a baby picture at the end of all of it and got soooooo many comments congratulating me. Even the high school gym teacher commented saying she couldn’t wait to meet my little one.

But this is the sauciest thing that happened from all that…. This one guy who had a girlfriend messaged me that he’d never been with a pregnant chick before, wink wink, and so I forwarded that message to his other half. She broke up with him.

A real-life couple that was together for one year broke up because of a bored 13-year-old more than 700 miles away lol.”

4. Fighting penguins.

“When I was an edgy little 14 year old I’d put my dad’s laptop beside the family computer, log into different Club Penguin accounts on each one, and have my two penguins stand on opposite sides of a room having an argument with each other. Gradually, other penguins would join in.

Eventually I could leave the room, play some games, and come back to find the argument still in full swing without either instigating penguin.

This was especially entertaining during the 2008 presidential election.”

5. Fake spoilers.

“Before Star Wars Episode III came out, I posted some BS “spoilers” on TheForce.net message boards. I found some German magazine site online article about the movie, linked to it, and made claims about battle scenes on Kashyyyk, a scene with Chewie delivering babies, etc.

I got on IMDB and looked up the name of some production director for Episode II and said he was the guy who provided the magazine with the info, as well as Peter Mayhew himself.

I guess nobody on that site actually read German, so everyone just believed my BS.

Well it got so much attention that it got posted on the sites’ home page, and then got referenced on other Star Wars sites. Then, in some interview with Rick Macullum (EW I think), they asked him about the rumors and he got really confused and defensive.”

6. It doesn’t take much.

“I once commented on a neighborhood facebook page on which someone named “Jose” was flexing his salary and pickup truck. All I said was, “No way Jose” and it collapsed into racists death threats that got 25 users banned, the group admin quit and the cops called.

Thats a lame joke for such good results.”

7. Started a war.

“Back when I was around 12 years and roblox wasn’t that big. So I was in this Germany nation group (basically a robloxian group where you can role play as being a citizen of Germany) which had like 10k members.

I had a pretty high rank in the group. There was tensions between Germany and another Italian group but things were settling down.

I eventually decide to go to the Italian’s place and begin killing everyone.

I started a full scale war which lasted for around 2 months.

Would do it again.”

8. Try to keep up with this one.

“A few years back I came across a UFO/alien abductee survivors forum whilst at work. A couple of co-workers and I had a good laugh at some of the stories and blurry photos of frizbees believing it was all BS. Later that evening I decided to set up a troll account.

I made up a story about mystery UFOs flying over my home town and posted it in the forum. I decided to play the long haul game and spread it over a few days, then drop the act and reveal the hoax.

The next day at work props were made and the following evening blurry out of prospective photos were taken. I worked at a small brewery at the time and brewery equipment can make some rather convincing sci-fi props.

It was then decided (at thus point it grew into a team effort) that some fake social media accounts needed to be made for even further “proof”. Wikipedia pages were made, threads on random boards like mums-net were made, and photos galore were posted.

People starting joining in the fake accounts. People we didn’t know started “seeing” these imaginary UFOs. The lie suddenly just took off.

Then a local news website caught wind and posted an article which escalated the hoax to the next level. We had bona fide proof!

After around 10 days I was ready to drop the bombshell on the original community. The problem was they didn’t believe me! Apparently I had been “gotten to” by some MiB types, or had been “re-programmed” following an abduction, or some other equally ridiculous conspiracy.

The joke had gone full circle. No matter what proof I posted that I had made the whole thing up, I was seen as the idiot who didn’t believe the truth. The photos I had saved of the actual props in real perspective were passed off as fake, the fake social media accounts were seen as suddenly hacked, it was crazy.

I could do nothing but walk away. I learnt a good lesson though – don’t try and troll the truly insane people.”

9. Sounds kind of legit.

“I made a website called twotowersprotest.org which protested the movie the two towers saying that it was disrespectful to the victims of the twin towers collapse.

That generated 1 million views and thousands of angry emails as well as interview requests from many reputable news outlets. It’s amazing how gullible people on the internet are.”

10. All fired up.

“One time my friend and I posted a lengthy post on The Walking Dead subreddit about how Judith doesn’t contribute to the group and doesn’t deserve to survive if  she doesn’t help more.

For anyone who doesn’t watch, Judith is an infant and was born during the zombie apocalypse. People were PISSED and stating the obvious again and again like…WTF IT’S A BABY SHE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO WORK SHE’S AN INFANT.

I’m still cackling.”

11. Got everyone fighting.

“Not me, but one of my (American) friends is a world class troll. He told me he went onto a Youtube video relating to an election in Alabama a few years back and commented something like “Americans! This is not your country! Stay out of Albanian politics!”

Then went to sleep. He said he had 500+ notifications, mostly people saying “fuck you, you commie” but also plenty of people saying “hey leave him alone- he made a mistake! English isn’t his first language!” Then those people started arguing with each other and so on.”

12. People got arrested.

“When I was in college I invited my entire friends list to a party that randomly showed up on my news feed a mutual friend was going to. I also said to bring friends!

Apparently a horde of like 30 dudes rolled in and started drinking all the beer and the host flipped out when he realized he knew like no one at the party at his house.

Apparently they tried to throw out my Facebook friend horde and they in turn threw him out of his own party. Dude then called the cops and like 7 people got arrested.”

13. A divisive subject.

“I questioned whether or not The Wizard of Oz was a musical and someone created an entire subreddit to discuss it (and make fun of me).”

Jeez…that’s why I don’t engage with trolls EVER.

I don’t even want any part of it.

Have you ever had a bad experience with a troll online?

Heck, maybe YOU were the troll?

Tell us all about it in the comments, please!

People Who Work Unusual Jobs Talk About How Folks React When They Tell Them About It

Not every job is 9 to 5.

A lot of folks out there work jobs that some people don’t even know exist.

It’s always interesting to learn about the different vocations that people have and you’re about to hear about a bunch that you might not be familiar with.

Let’s dive into the responses from AskReddit users who opened up about how folks react to their unusual occupations.

1. Wow!

“I had a brief stint as a “junior cheese evaluator.”

People loved hearing about the cheese tasting part, but what is less known is the business analytics side of things — we have to know what good cheese is and what consumer tastes are like and how to influence those tastes to make room for company products that maximize profits for the cheesemaker and retailer.

There’s a whole national certification exam I was studying for before I decided to take a drastic career shift because the whole cheese thing wasn’t paying the bills and it was too much work holding down three jobs.”

2. That’s pretty cool.

“I produce subtitles, for TV and now for online learning at a university. It’s been amazing how many people have thought that either A, a computer does it or B, I’m a sign language interpreter.

I was also a teleprompter / Autocue operator for a while, when I first left uni, and it was one of the best jobs I’ve had. Though again, people thought a computer did it. And I’ve had likes of actors literally laugh in my face because they consider it beneath the lowest of the low apparently (until it breaks…)”

3. That’s interesting.

“Train Controller.

People ask me if I drive trains. I am in the habit now of just pre-empting people and saying “It is like air traffic control but for the rail network”.

In the U.S.A. I believe it is called Train Dispatch. People are generally sort of impressed and want to ask questions about the railway.”

4. Get out the mannequins!

“I work on a truck doing simulated emergencies with high fidelity mannequins . The mannequins have pulses they breathe, you can listen to lung sounds, and their eyes move back-and-forth.

We take the truck to fire departments and critical access hospital‘s in our state to provide emergency training at no cost to the fire departments and hospitals. There are only five states that I know of in the nation that do this training.”

5. Still around?

“Chimney sweep

Usual reaction: that’s still a thing?”

6. Could you do this?

“A friend of mine is a harbor pilot.

Brings huge ships in and out of harbors. Makes mid 6 figures. A lot of boredom with high stress in the middle.”

7. If you’ve got the guts…

“Once upon a time I worked at a boarstud. I got hired in the lab preserving semen for sale. Dull, morning headachy work staring at semen under a microscope.

Buuut the shed often needed help collecting semen and a fun, well paying, easy job. Go get the pig, get him to mount, grab a penis and then nap as they ejaculate for ten to fifteen minutes. Repeat.

I got paid $27 an hour to sit on a stool and hold a curly penis three days a week. I now work 6-7 days, collect blood samples, monitor surgery, take phones, do inventory and handle angry clients with a smile for $16 as a vet tech. Hmm.

If you’ve got the guts, consider pig wanker.”

8. Never heard of this.

“I was an enucleator.

When people passed and wanted to donate their corneas I would retrieve their eyes from their body and take them to the lab to process for transplant. When people found that out they were either completely grossed out or thought it was really interesting.”

9. Sounds…erotic.

“My boyfriend’s parents own their own erotica publishing house. They hire ghost writers to churn out the kind of smut you can get for $2 on kindle.

My boyfriend narrates the audiobooks.”

10. Make it look good.

“I was talking to a food stylist and there is one lady who does all of the sour cream commercials because she can make perfect dollops.

Apparently they call her “The Dollop Queen of Georgia”.”

11. Sounds like a big job.

“I’m a procurement officer for an airline, I order parts for planes.

No one seems to realise my job exists but everyone gets it when I tell them what I do.

Reaction is generally wow that’s so cool! In reality I raise purchase orders all day. But it’s pretty cool to wander out to the hangar when a plane is in.”

12. A lot of cash.

“I work for a pond and water garden company specializing in Japanese koi fish sales.

Nothing too crazy, but people always seem a little surprised when I tell them I sell imported koi fish for way too much money.”

13. This is a job.

“One of my best friends’ husbands job was to read Bill Gates’ mail with the intent to prevent crazy people from showing up at the Microsoft campus demanding to speak with him.”

14. Espionage.

“I was an industrial espionage specialist for a year. Basically companies would pay the company I worked for to gain intel on their competitors, their distribution chain, expansion plans, contracts etc.

My job was to gather intelligence, sometimes I would go undercover as a low level employee, sometimes I would go undercover as a headhunter & interview current employees, carefully using questions to elicit information, sometimes I would use a “discretionary fund” to “purchase” intel from employees, once I even went undercover as a reporter to interview a logistics manager.

Sometimes I would just spend hours reading information on the stock exchange, government planning departments etc.

It was a weird job, but I could usually piece together a good amount of info.”

Do you work an unusual job that most people don’t even know exists?

How do people react when you tell them about it?

Please share with us in the comments. We look forward to hearing from you!

People Share Questions You Should Ask Someone When You’re on a First Date

When it comes to first dates, many people could use as much help as possible with breaking the ice.

It’s hard to get to know someone and it can be difficult to know the right questions to ask to keep the conversation (and hopefully the romance) moving along.

Do you want some advice about things to ask on first dates?

Let’s dive into these answers from AskReddit users.

1.  This will tell you a lot about a person.

“What do you do with your shopping cart when finished at the grocery store?”

2. Movie first, THEN dinner.

“I read a LPT earlier today that stated if you’re taking someone on a dinner/movie date, go to the movie first.

That way, at dinner, if the conversation is lacking or having a hard time starting up – you can get it going with talking about the movie. ?

3. Get this out of the way.

“Vaccinations… safe or harmful?

Earth… round or are you a dumb ass?”

4. Give me the details.

“What kind of music do you listen to?

Might seem basic but this is a great question to ask to get to know someone.

I have noticed however that most people just answer with “anything but country” so you could probably get a more passionate response by asking something along the lines of “What artist(s) are you currently listening to?””

5. For the bookworms.

“If your life were a book what would the title be?”

6. The trifecta.

“Do you like The Office?

Do you like dogs?

Do you have a real personality?”

7. Looking forward.

“What is something you’re looking forward to?

Always gets a good answer, and it’s usually something unexpected.”

8. You’ll get some good insight.

“What would you do if the zombie apocalypse started right now?”

9. What kind of weirdo does this?

“Do you sleep with your socks on?”

10. Just get it out of the way.

“I asked my husband (we’ve been together 27 years), “You aren’t an ax murderer are you?” on our first date.”

11. This is a good one.

“What’s getting you through the week?

You find out what makes them happy and what’s important to them.”

12. Get to the real stuff.

“My favorite was always “what are you passionate about?”

So much better than “what do you do?””

13. I like this.

“When was the last time you felt proud of yourself?”

14. You better be a big reader.

“What are your favorite books?

If you get the impression they don’t read books, run.”

15. Might be interesting…

“What is your mother’s maiden name?

What is your high school mascot?

What is the name of your childhood best friend?”

16. Try these out.

“OK Cupid had a really cool blog about statistics from their huge user base. The three questions they found were best predictors for compatibility:

Do you like scary movies?

Have you ever traveled alone in another country?

Wouldn’t it be fun to chuck it all and live on a sailboat?

If you agree on those 3, you’re likeliest to succeed.”

17. Straight to the important stuff.

“Are you Introvert or Extrovert?

And how do you rank your mental health level from 1 to 10?”

18. This is usually fun.

“I always like to ask about the worst date they ever had.”

19. Are you an animal lover?

“Do you have any pets?

1 of 3 things will happen:

1: Yes they do, and will talk / show photos of them for ages.

2: they don’t, but then you follow it up with what pets do you want and they will talk for ages.

3: they say no, I’m not really an animal person, in which case you leave them because you don’t need someone like that in your life.”

20. Give up the info.

“What’s your favorite dinner?

What’s in your bucket list?

Are you a dog person or a cat person?”

21. A smart idea.

“How was your latest night out?

IMHO a person who brags about how shitfaced or wasted they become doesn’t make a good impression as a responsible partner.”

22. Okay, that’s just weird.

“Are your fingerprints in the police database?”

“In millimeters, How long are your toenails before you decide to cut them? Do you keep the remains?”

“Do you have any pets you aren’t using anymore?”

“How do you feel about basements?”

“Which bodily fluid do you think has the most pleasant aroma?”

“Which layer of skin do you favor the most?”

“My cat died six years ago…. wanna see?”

Well, what do you think?

Are you going to incorporate any of these into your first-date question arsenal?

Let us know what you think in the comments!

And if you have any suggestions, please pass them along to us!

People Sound off on Unexpected Movie Endings That They Hated

You’ve probably heard the term “Hollywood ending” before.

It’s when everything gets wrapped up in a perfect bow and the conclusion of a movie and everyone lives happily ever after.

Well, not all movies end like that. In fact, some end very unexpectedly and filmgoers can get really pissed off.

You’re about to see what I’m talking about when you read these responses from people who hated the way a movie ended.

Here’s what folks on AskReddit had to say.

1. WTF?

“The Devil Inside, the movie was basic horror “everyone dies” fare, but it suddenly ends after a car crash and a title card appears listing a website for more info and the movie just ends.

Seriously one of the worst endings imaginable.”

2. The other Frozen.

“Frozen.

And I don’t mean the Disney movie. I mean the one about the skiers stuck on the ski lift.”

3. Didn’t see that coming.

“A Cure For Wellness

Discount doctor red skull goes Buffalo Bill while trying to fuck his daughter, fight ensues, gets shovel to the face and eaten by magic eels. The End.”

4. Maybe don’t pay it forward.

“Pay It Forward.”

I saw this at a preview screening. People were straight up pissed.

They should have changed the title to, “Don’t help people. You’ll die.””

5. What about the children?!?!

“Bridge to Terabithia

Thought it was going to be a fantasy film, then discovered just their imaginations. Then the ending happened.

I heard parents were pissed because they took their kids to see a light hearted movie.”

6. That’s a rough one.

“My Girl.

Not quite the ending but I think you all know the part I mean.”

7. An abrupt ending.

“It wasn’t a BAD ending, but it was way too sudden. Karate Kid. It went like this:

They’re fighting… BANG Daniel kicks the other fella in the nose. Everyone cheers and surrounds him. The old Japanese fella nods approvingly. Aaaaand its done. That’s it. Credits. No resolution whatsoever.”

8. Phoning it in.

“Reign of Fire.

Great post apocalypse movie. The angels jumping scene was fan-fucking-tastic! Once that scene is over, the movie goes to absolute shit and makes no sense. The whole “magic hour” thing was a cop-out.

The dragon kept changing size. One scene it’s as big or bigger than the castle they live in, then it’s small enough to get down narrow alleys.

The whole third act seemed like they just phoned it in and couldn’t figure out what to do with the story. It had so much potential.”

9. Sorry about that…

“When I was little my mother sent my brothers and I to a “Disney movie”. Safe choice, right?

All 3 of us were bawling our eyes out when she picked us up after.

The movie was Old Yeller.”

10. Disgusted.

“Suicide Squad.

Tore a city apart and broke a man down to the point of comminitting full arson against enemies just to get thrown back in cages, I was disgusted.”

11. NEVER watch a dog movie.

“Marley and Me.

My mom had taken me, my sister, and our friends to see the movie thinking it was a comedy. It wasn’t a comedy.

By the time the end came, we were all bawling. I don’t watch dog movies anymore.”

12. A Quiet Place.

“I just saw A Quiet Place, and the movie is really good.

The final scene though, when all of the other monsters start swarming towards the house, and Emily Blunt cocks the shotty… it was just weird.

Like, they’ve been terrified this whole time of dying and now she’s Doomguy about to fuck shit up? It just didn’t sit well with me.”

13. Not buying it.

“The Day the Earth Stood Still (the remake with Keanu Reeves).

The original movie left the audience with a warning. People on earth are shitty, and they need to shape up. Watch out, or aliens will teach you a lesson you won’t forget.

In the remake, aww, Keanu Reeves was nice to the kid. Maybe humanity’s worth saving, after all. We, the audience, don’t have to have any introspection. There’s no threat, because we’re aaaaaaalright.”

14. I HATED this movie.

“Babel.

It’s 143 minutes of showing seemingly random connections that ruin everyone’s lives. I saw it in the theater when it came out, when the credits started someone literally said “I just sat here for that?”

At which point people applauded him.”

15. French horror.

“High Tension really pushed my limits at the end.

I’m not a fan of “Oh, it was all in her head and she’s the bad one” especially when you are seeing her be attacked during the film.

I dunno, this one has always stuck with me.”

16. Unexpected, for sure.

“Ok, don’t get me wrong, Shutter Island has a great ending, but it made me so angry at the same time.

It just wasn’t happy and was pretty unexpected. Which is why it’s great at the same time.”

17. Not prepared for that.

“When I was 8 my aunt took me to see The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, not realizin what it would be about. She didn’t read the book, so to her it seemed like a heartwarming story about companionship between two boys.

Most of the movie was fine. I didn’t know what the Holocaust was but I got the drift. It wasn’t until they got into the gas chamber at the end that my child-self started bawling bc I knew they probably died. It was the first non-happy ending I ever saw and it took me a little while to reconcile what had happened and the fact that some events are just cruel.

18. Why’d you do that???

“It pissed me off in Titanic that she threw the jewel in the ocean at the end. She could have at least sold it and left the money to her daughter.

Or even given it to the guy she told the story to. Knowing he was looking for it she deceived him by not telling him she had it in the first place.

Awful ending to an otherwise great movie.”

19. A real stinker.

“City of Angels.

One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen but that ending was a complete bamboozle.”

20. Can’t say I’ve seen this one…

“Dracula 3000.

The blond actress suddenly says she’s a sex robot, and then the ship explodes.”

Well, there you have it…

Now we want to hear from all the movie buffs out there.

In the comments, tell us about a movie that had an unexpected ending that you really didn’t enjoy.

Let’s see what ya got!

People Talk About the Industries That Are Much Shadier Than They Seem

Some industries are just shady right on the surface. But then there are the industries that most of us would never even think would be shady.

That’s why these articles are so enlightening!

You just never know what an industry is like until you have first-hand experience with it.

Are you ready to get shady?

Folks on AskReddit definitely had some thoughts on the matter.

1. Better not cross them.

“My dad knows a story from someone who works for a nationwide grocery chain, they have to deal with an Italian mafia to import balsamic vinegar.”

2. Vanilla wars.

“More people died last year over vanilla in Madagascar than cocaine in South America. They’ve even coined the term “vanilla murder”.

Farmers hire armed mercenaries to guard their crops from thieves near harvest time, and if one is caught… well… let’s just say it’s in response to all the farmers that were killed by thieves for the same reason.”

3. On the high seas.

“The maritime industry.

Most of the big companies do things by the book and treat crews well because they’re afraid of lawsuits and unions, but many smaller “mom and pop” companies break laws and violate safety regulations with reckless abandon because they’re not as visible and can “stay under the radar” so to speak. I

t’s very common for a small company to ask a captain/crew to do something illegal and dangerous in order to increase profit, and for the captain/crew to comply out of fear of losing their jobs.

And that’s just the US maritime industry; sailors from poorer nations who work on ships are often fed little more than rice and cheap ramen for months at a time and paid pennies for their backbreaking work.

I love running tugs for a living, but the industry as a whole is rife with shady business.”

4. Never thought of this.

“Eyeglasses.

You have no idea the snow job they put most people through when it comes to buying them. Its far, far worse than trying to buy a new car from a dealership.

Wholesale frames are about $5-20, wholesale lens blanks are another $10. Any kind of dip coating (UV, tinting, etc) is negligible cost and effort to apply – literally pennies.

To top it off, they don’t even do a whole lot in house, but send it to “labs” which are basically sweatshops that can take up to 2-3 weeks when labor time is literally under 5 minutes.

Instead of training real opticians and technicians, they’re just glorified sales staff now. Most of the time they don’t even bother with proper measurement for pd, frame width, or arm fitting.

Was an optician in the early 90’s. I’m horrified at what the business has become.”

5. The ratings game.

“Rating services like Yelp. Refuse to advertise and your good reviews magically get rearranged. Hey, look if you want to do that and be transparent, I get it. But most every business owner knows how scummy this is and most clients just have no idea.

I have a business that isn’t something that would usually be looked for on Yelp. They called and I just froze. Luckily I do long term rentals and was sold out. Explained I wouldn’t have an opening for months, they seemed to leave me alone.

Yet they have my business on the front page of Google search (under the wrong category).”

6. A bunch of lies.

“Trucking.

The margins are razor thin and so everyone is trying to nickle and dime each other constantly.

The drivers lie to their dispatchers, the dispatchers lie to the brokers, the brokers lie to the clients.

All of this for like $50-100 sometimes.”

7. Sounds like a really bad industry.

“Cruise ships.

I was told I was having a minimum of one day off every week and work normal hours (8-10h/day) with a good pay and good pre paid tips. I ended up working 30 days in a row, Ewell over 400 hours, for $1600 with tips included.

This company I was working for was called Scenic Cruises (ship was called MS Scenic Crystal), which was an Australian company working over a Swiss company going under a Maltese flag, sailing in Central Europe. That’s how I understood it anyways, they deliberately did this so they could break international laws, I counted at least 5 that they broke.

Biggest scam company I ever worked for. I resigned after my first month. The police boarded the ship every once in a while because they knew this but they couldn’t do shit because they had no jurisdiction over the ship.

I was forced to work with a 39 Celsius fever.”

8. This is terrible.

“The pet industry.

Basement puppy mills and dogs that are so inbred they can hardly breath. There are plenty of ethical breeders out there (and some unlicensed breeders are ethical even if in a legal grey zone) but the conditions of some of the so called puppy mills can be really bad.

Sometimes when breeds are mixed and the pup gets the recessive genes the breeders weren’t looking for.. they straight up euthanize it because they know it won’t sell. Not to mention how many “purebreds” are actually not pure at all… and sold as is.

Shady.”

9. Big, shady business.

“Avocado farms.

Most of the farms in Central America are taken over by cartels because of how much money is in selling avocados.”

10. Higher education.

“Higher academia is badly broken.

Some of the smartest people are some of the most badly exploited. Old tenured professors limit the number of faculty many departments can have, forcing people to work as postdocs forever, effectively doing all the work the prof should be doing in the first place.

Meager pay and long hours, plus constant pressure makes postdocs some of the most depressed people.

The grad students are no better either. A lot of the times grad students don’t complain about ill treatment, harassment and outright bullying as they don’t want to jeopardize their prospects of graduating.

If you’re a foreigner, this situation becomes even worse, whether you’ve a grad student or a postdoctoral researcher.”

11. That’s a shame.

“The nonprofit world, unfortunately.

Most people at the top are in it to make a name for themselves and don’t usually care about the mission of the organization.”

12. Kind of depressing…

“Mental health facilities…

A lot of people trust today’s mental health facilities, but from my experience they’re quite flawed. Staff can be judgemental and condescending and downright cruel.

A family member of mine was institutionalized for a while, I say with full certainty she was healthier before she went in than coming out. The places I’ve seen are most definitely for profit. They had no intentions of having her “fixed” and released. Also, sloppy.

She was given the wrong people’s meds several times. She was also prescribed dangerous combinations that wound up having her sent to the ER. Really stupid mistakes were made over and over.”

13. Everyone needs them, though.

“The tire business.

Tires are a scam and shouldn’t cost anywhere near what they do. Everyone along the supply chain is making bank. It’s one of the industries I would love to see disrupted.”

14. Tying the knot.

“The Wedding industry (at least in the US). The whole point of the wedding industry is to trick people into overspending by preying on their desire to have the “perfect” wedding. So you “have” to have multiple photoshoots, a beautiful venue, excellent catering, an expensive dress/suit, etc, all at an exorbitant price. It’s a scam.

A lot of “traditional” wedding staples (like the white dress, service performed by minister, etc) are based on actual traditions and beliefs, but those traditions don’t mean anything anymore and now are sold as “traditional” to squeeze more money out of you.

Tell me, why would you ever need 1000 photographs each of your engagement, your “first look,” the ceremony, the bridal party, etc? How many of the 50 good ones are you going to actually look at and will mean anything? Maybe a handful. The rest just get dumped on social media and forgotten in a few months.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t take pictures at your wedding. You should. But there’s no reason to spend thousands to take pictures of contrived setups, like the “first look.”

I’ve been to and been in a number of weddings of my friends and have seen the ludicrously overpriced things the planners convinced them to buy into.

And that’s just the financial side. That’s not even getting into the insanity that is planning the damn thing. Trying to get families on board and compromise their demands is a whole other shady industry.”

15. No thank you!

“Vape juice.

I did some work for a company that use to whole sale to a whole lot of smaller vape shops. The places that sold to us ranged from vape juice laboratories to guys making it in bathtubs.

I actually quit vaping seeing some of the conditions the juice is made in.”

16. This is crazy.

“The gourmet mushroom industry. The short of it is that I pulled over to check on what I thought was a forest fire in the middle of nowhere, British Columbia. Turned out it was a wandering rove of – for lack of a better title – Canadian mushroom gypsies looking for matasuki (pine) mushrooms and chanterelles.

Next thing you know, my car keys vanished and I was put to work for 2 days with payment being a sandwich and a few beers.

We wandered the forest, digging up pine buttons and learned way more about mushrooms than I ever imagined, and we were warned heavily to stay close to our own/captors/kidnappers/whatever as the rival group was not above violent tactics if you entered their territory… this was affirmed when I stumbled upon an angry man from the other side pointing a shotgun at me.

Whether or not there’s truth to it – I don’t know – but supposedly the mushroom world was once incredibly lucrative until the Chinese mob infiltrated it and gouged the prices. After 2 days my keys mysteriously reappeared with my car unharmed and nothing missing.

No one would answer where it went, but they all knew. Hands down the nicest kidnappers ever, but it was a wild experience.”

17. It’s definitely an industry.

“Televangelist and megachurch owners (especially those preaching a Prosperity Gospel) will make money hand-over-fist off the backs of the poor through product sales.

The sad part is if many of these people save their money instead of giving it to these men, they are statistically more likely to have greater wealth in the long term.

Instead money from little old ladies goes to fund Pat Roberts’s private jet or Joel Olsteen’s MegaChurch power bill.”

Wow, some of those really caught me by surprise.

Do you have any thoughts on this matter?

Do you know of any shady industries that most people have no idea about?

Please tell us all about it in the comments!
