What Actor or Actress Was Totally Wrong for a Role They Played? Here’s What People Said.

I think that being a casting director would be pretty difficult.

You really only have one shot to get it right with each role and if you mess up and cast the wrong person…well, we all know how that usually turns out…

1. Could’ve been better.

“Jafar in the new Aladdin.

He wasn’t believable or menacing and way too young.

Plus for much of his screen time he’s standing next to Navid Neghaban, who would have been a MUCH better choice.”

2. Blame the casting director.

“Ferdia Shaw as Artemis Fowl.

He conveys none of the intelligence, shrewdness or relentless determination of the book character. He comes across as a child dressed up in a suit and handed cue cards with smart-sounding lines to read unconvincingly.

He’s a child so I’m going to lay the blame for that one on the casting director.”

3. Not a great choice.

“Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan.

He would have been more believable as Kyle Raynor then Hal Jordan… he was regularly thrown around to play Wally West as the Flash.

They took a big(ish) popular actor and throw him at a role without any consideration that his personality matched the character.

Everything that makes Reynolds perfect as Deadpool makes him wrong as Hal Jordan.”

“John Dorian as Dr. Acula. He is way to hammy, and not very threatening for a vampire who is behind loads of mysterious deaths in the hospital.

He clearly only got the part because he wrote the darn script for it. It was also a very racist filming process where multiple times Chris Turk was told to “act blacker”.

In good conscience I can’t support the film.”

“Kevin Hart as Roland in the upcoming Borderlands movie.

Everyone who knows anything about Borderlands will agree with me. Terry Crews should be playing Roland.

He’s big, has comedic chops, and can play the no-nonsense straight shooter BAD*SS when everything else is wild.”

“Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Sophie Turner as Jean Gray.

I like her as an actress, but I just couldn’t get into it.

I felt like she struggled with hiding her accent.”

And I thought that before all the creepy stuff about him came out – now it’s even worse to try to watch.”

He says the two worst guests were Arianna Grande (made not one but two servers cry) and The Rolling Stones.

Later that day I got a ball signed by Steve Garvey who was super nice. He replaced Reggie Jackson as my hero that night.”

He came to the restaurant in DC where I was a hostess. I came to get him for his table and he said “did you need a college degree for this job?”

And his reply was “your kid doesn’t have to talk to f**king strangers either, good job dad” and he walked off just babbling bulls**t to himself. Kinda sh**ty since I spent some years watching his d**n show.”

11. Jerk.

“Me and my sister saw Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, and Salma Hayek on the street when we were eating lunch.

They were just coming out of a car, about to go into some building next to us. We had no idea why they were together but in retrospect it was definitely because they were filming 30 rock together.

My sister said “OH MY GOD IS THAT TINA FEY??” and Alec Baldwin turned around and went right in her face and said “dont f**king say that, dont speak to us, why would you say something like that? You cant speak to us, not now”.

But it didn’t really end there, he yelled AGAIN at us outside his building, saying “DONT LOOK OVER HERE, TURN AROUND AND EAT YOUR FOOD, F**K OFF”. He sounded genuinely furious at us. Almost like he wanted us to yell back and start something with him. Honestly my sister was on the verge of tears, it was horribly embarrassing.

Everybody knows, now, that Alec Baldwin has a history of screaming at people. But at the time we had no idea. Don’t get me wrong, my sister shouldn’t have yelled at Tina Fey like that, but the way Alec snapped was straight up scary, like he was about to physically hurt her.

Salma Hayek and some other lady who I didn’t recognize came over and apologized to us. She asked if we wanted her to go and get Tina and get her autograph because apparently Tina felt bad too, but we said no.

She then talked to us about the food we were eating, which was mexican food, and we ended up having a brief conversation about NY’s lack of quality mexican food. She was INCREDIBLY charismatic and sweet.”

12. Detested.

“Had to work three months on a film with Jim Belushi.

I could sense within the first few minutes of being in his presence on set he was an a**hole. His behavior deteriorated till the end.

He was detested by everyone on the crew including the cast. The movie, “Change of Heart”… went straight to video. Jim Belushi is a d**khead supreme.”

My younger brother can’t whistle. Not even close.

I know, I know, it’s a sad, sad thing to admit, but he just can’t seem to get the hang of it…after practicing for decades.

Poor guy…we all feel a little bit sorry for him…

What are some normal and ordinary things in life that you just can’t seem to get the hang of?

“Tell left and right in an instant every time.

I get there eventually and sometimes I get there quicker but I don’t feel like I just know the way other people seem to.”

2. Not picking up on it.

“Read facial expressions or detect tone of voice.

I can pick up those things in people I’m very familiar with, but in others, it’s borderline impossible.

It’s a lot easier in anime though, because those exaggerated expressions are pretty easy to read.”

I’ve watched videos, read how to articles, but I never seem to be able to get it right. Whenever I did tie them, they were just a standard square knot with a bunch of leftover shoelace so I’d just tuck the leftover lace under my feet to hide it.

The most embarrassing incident was in high school when a girl who we had a mutual liking of each other asked me to tie her shoe in a flirting/joking way. I was nervous because on the one hand she was clearly into me and I didn’t want to be rude and brush her off, but on the other hand I was internally panicking because I literally had no freaking clue how to do it.

So in an attempt to pass it off as a joke, I tied them in the same square knot fashion I did mine and laughed in the hopes that she thought it was a joke, but I think she saw right through that facade and thought I was stupid, so she slowly stopped talking to me after that.

Nowadays I just wear sandals and slip on shoes and nobody really seems to really notice or care, but it’s one of the most basic life skills you’re supposed to learn as a kid that I never did learn and still don’t know even though I’m 21 and seem outwardly intelligent otherwise.”

“Nestle is literally digging under some “dehydrated” countries and when they get the water the only way the people who live there can get some is by working in their factories and then they get a ONE LITER BOTTLE for their whole village.”

2. Wow.

“WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT GOODWILL.

They are LEGALLY able to pay their employees with disabilities (Down syndrome, etc.) less than minimum wage, sometimes cents to the hour. And their pay gets cut even more if they’re not productive enough!

For a company whose profit margins are insane because they don’t purchase their goods I was honestly hurt to know that that money goes to the CEOs at the cost of unfair wages to American people.”

Third party delivery apps are killer for local businesses. My family owns a restaurant and we were approached by an Uber Eats rep. The wanted a 30% cut of all sales made in the app (pretty typical for most of them, though I’ve heard they sometimes ask for up to 40%).

Our profit margin is ~10%, which is pretty standard for local restaurants from what I understand. Luckily, we already have a delivery service in place, but for some, it’s the only option they have and they’re getting absolutely robbed blind by these sh**ty companies.”

They treat their employees like c**p, i.e. overworking them, treating them like less than dog c**p and basically threatening to fire anyone who even mentions the word ‘union’. They also treat the DSPs worse than their own employees which is why a lot of people tend to quit.

Micromanaging the drivers with the Mentor driving app, firing drivers for not delivering all their packages yet telling them if it is not able to be delivered, then bring it back to the station.

They even have options in the Amazon app for customers to rate their delivery and if a customer gives anything below a 5 star, they get in trouble. Get 3, you’re done. Can’t back up while delivering and if you absolutely have to, you can’t go over 5 miles an hour even while on an incline. Do that, you get fired. It’s really not worth working for Amazon.”

Backstory:

One of their drivers killed a few people on the interstate about ten years ago because he didn’t notice that traffic had stopped for road work and mangled a couple sedans. He didn’t notice because his head was below the dash as he fumbled around for another energy drink. He also didn’t have his corrective lenses in his possession. Real professional.

Anyway, my issue with Reinhart as a company is that immediately after the collision, the dummy driver crawled down from his cab, in full view of his mangled victims, and called… 911? No. He called Reinhart. And what was Reinhart’s first reaction?

They sent their corporate lawyer to the scene. Because, you know, starting to build a legal liability shield is what’s most important when the bodies are still pinned in the wrecks. Two of the victims were a pregnant lady and her unborn.

Reinhart Foodservice supplies restaurants, so it’s not like I can personally boycott their business, but I otherwise would.”

12. Forever 21.

“I used to work at Forever 21. Here are some common issues that happened.

1.) When items were not selling ripping them and damaging them out. Also damaging things that people were trying to return and blaming it on them so they couldn’t even get store credit.

2.) Selling leather harnesses, fishnet stalkings, leather mini skirts, and other things for 5 year olds. And having to watch people dress up their 5 year olds in the changing rooms and help them as they tried to make them s**ier. Then being told if I acted repulsed I would be fired.

3.) Being physically locked in the store after my shift ended and forced to stay late unpaid and clean.

4.) Being given shifts only if I spent enough money, and not being allowed to return anything even for store credit because I worked there, but being encouraged not to try things on because it wasted time of whoever was working.

5.) Being yelled at and called stupid, retarded and lazy less than 5 minutes into my shift because clothes were left in fitting rooms.

6.) Being paid less than my newer male coworker because I am a woman and he was a male. Manager told me he deserved higher pay for being a man in retail. Retail is hard for men.

7.) Having manager from 5 and 6 putting me back on probation without telling me so company could not recommend me for promotion and I would be passed up. Also so she could try to fire me and I wouldn’t be able to fight back.

8.) Having coworker who agreed with me that manager sucked forced to work warehouse and banned from talking to coworkers or she would be fired.

Eventually the entire store band together and got Canadian labour laws involved. It was a fun time. There is more than this, it was wild.”

It might not be for everyone, as it is a lot to take in. But it wraps up the story satisfyingly in 3 short seasons, instead of dragging on endlessly, which is nice, and I also think the acting, character arcs, soundtrack/score and cinematography are all great.

It’s the kind of show you need to really pay attention to or else nothing will make sense. I recommend watching it in the original German with subtitles. The dub tracks are terrible.”

Have You Ever Had a Co-Worker From Hell? Here’s How Folks Responded.

I know my answer!

I used to work with a guy who I’ll call “Jimmy” who was, without a doubt, the biggest scumbag I’ve ever met in my entire life.

He made every day a living Hell and, on top of that, he sucked at his job so he dragged the rest of us down with him.

Ugh, I’m so glad I never have to see that guy ever again as long as I live.

1. OH MY GOD.

“I had a 50 year old colleague who would message women on sugar baby apps and rub one out over his trousers. Saw him blow his load in the open office. He sat next to me.

Kept on happening, reported it. He said he had a genital rash, but admitted to ‘messaging people on social media’. I got in trouble for my accusations.

Fast forward 8 months, he’s sitting opposite me now. He starts rubbing one out in the open office again. I recorded him. Showed my manager, and he was finally fired.

He was a c*nt, too.”

2. A real monster.

“Blonde monster peaked in high school.

Has been at her job too long, and tries to control everyone.

My job has a high turnover in this one office but they refuse to believe it’s her.”

3. Got a problem?

“She didn’t officially work at my store’s location.

She was supposed to be at another location training to be a manager there, but her predecessor was still working at said location and the upper management/boss didn’t want too many people working there at once. So she had to work at my store’s location instead.

As soon as she started, she had a problem with me. I don’t know why, I’ll never understand why. I suspect my resting b*tch face had something to do with it. She essentially bullied me from the get-go and when I told my manager about it, she claimed nothing could be done since the rude lady wasn’t officially under my manager.

So one day the b*tch started bumping into me and saying “You have a problem with me? Let’s take it outside.” Etc. I was half her size, I’ve never fought in my life outside of sibling squabbles, and I have terrible social anxiety. So I went to the bathroom, called my S/O to come pick me up, grabbed my things, and walked out on my shift. I didn’t say a word to anyone and left her there alone during lunch rush.

I later learned from my friend who also worked there than my manager didn’t blame me, and officially, like on the papers, she said I left for “personal reasons”. She was a nice woman and I don’t blame her for not being able to do anything.

Upper management at this chain was very irresponsible and didn’t seem to care about that store location whatsoever (checks came in late almost every week, we weren’t allowed to have more than two people working in the store at a time, didn’t always have enough budget to order food/supplies, etc)

I’m never working for that man’s chain again. I may work for the same store, but I’m not going to work if it’s one of the locations that asshole owns.”

4. Personal shoppers.

“Girl I worked with when I was a personal shopper. She tried to get me fired a couple of times because she saw I was moving up faster than her.

We both got sent to work at a different location for a couple of months and she went around bad-mouthing me to anyone who would listen, so they thought I was a sh*t employee and she was amazing. I proved myself with my work ethic and they realized she was a liar and it definitely changed their opinion of her.

I ended up going to a different location and when she went back to our original location she continued to say horrid things about me. My co-workers took my side and called her out on her BS. She left not long after on a bad note with them.”

“Can’t go home unless I pass over my reports to the next person face to face.

One particular b*tch loves coming in late. Not 5 or 10 minutes late, I’m talking 25 to 30 minutes late.

I had to call search and rescue on him once because he didn’t come back to the truck after doing a transect (biology job). You guessed it, he had low blood sugar and was not able to find his way back to the truck. He had no education or experience in biology, but he just couldn’t be fired from his job driving a plow. With his propensity to let himself get hypoglycemic, he couldn’t drive either.

So they shuffled him to the wildlife department because he had an interest in wildlife. I was basically his babysitter.”

“I’ll never forget the 22ish year old girl who spent hours of one shift telling me, with no prompting at all, about how she used to be a raging heroin addict but she was over it now and had become extremely religious.

She went into very explicit detail about her drug deals and the things she’d done to get drugs. My shy homeschooled *ss was stunned.

The very next day she got fired for stealing 20 dollars from the cash register.”

An Employee Tells Co-Workers Not Everyone at Work Can Afford To Buy a House. Did They Act Like a Jerk?

It’s kind of interesting how sometimes you find yourself in a situation where people assume that everyone has a lot of money. Or even enough money to get by…

And, the truth of the matter is that not everyone out there can afford to buy a house.

A person took to Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page to share their story and to ask the readers on that forum if they were wrong for their actions.

Let’s take a look.

AITA for bluntly telling the people I work with that no, not “everyone in the office” can afford to buy a house?

“My coworkers are usually pretty good to work with. The average salary for them is around 100k+. I’m their administrative assistant and I make about $32k. Anyway some of the things they say are kind of weird.

For example this one woman was shocked that I’d never had any of my clothes tailored before. I think they just really caught up in their own reality you know? Like in their world everyone is beautiful and skinny and rich with purebred dogs and perfect white teeth.

I was helping organize and someone announced they finally bought their first house. The conversation continued on to them kind of being rude and saying like “I don’t get why people think no one can afford to buy a house, it’s not hard?” and someone was like “Yeah I can’t imagine being in my 30s and still renting, I’d feel like such a failure” and they all agreed.

I don’t usually get upset about the sh*t they’re talking about but I finally had it and was like “I’m 38 and rent, I don’t think I’m a failure”

One of them was like “Oh well we weren’t talking about you, it’s just that all these people always go on and on about how it’s impossible to save for a down payment.”

I was just like “Yeah, it is pretty hard.”

It was obvious the whole atmosphere in the room changed so I was like “Anyway” and got up and left to the main office to get back to work. Later on one of the other women in the office came up and was like “Hey I’m sorry about earlier I didn’t mean to offend you. It got kind of awkward in there.”

I said yeah, it was pretty awkward listening to them talk about how they’d feel like a failure if they were in my shoes. She said that’s not what she meant, she actually meant that it felt like I was trying to call attention to the wage gap like it was their fault, and that if I wanted to better myself they could help me figure out how to apply to schools and work my way up just like they did.

I said a kind of half-hearted “thanks.” It’s been weird in the office since then. I know money is one of those no-no topics but it’s not like it’s a secret that I only make what I make.

We don’t have HR and this really isn’t an HR thing.

AITA.”

A Woman Left Her Husband at a Clinic After He Pranked Her. Does This Make Her an A-Hole?

I’m not sure what kind of a person would pull a “prank” like this, but the world is filled with a lot of strange people.

And I can’t wrap my head around why anyone would think something like this would be funny…but the world is a strange place.

And this woman got put in a very weird and terrible spot thanks to a cruel prank played by her husband…but she wants to know if she was wrong for how she reacted about it.

Here’s what happened:

AITA for yelling at my husband then leaving him at the clinic after his prank?

“Me F28 and my husband M34 have been married for a year. Before I met him I got a dog named Ollie (A German shepherd) that was originally my sister’s but she passed away and I immediately took him to live with me.

My husband adores Ollie he sometimes jokes that he’s married to me only because of Ollie. He likes making jokes and doing pranks but some of them are downright nasty. He’d always get me worried by lying saying Ollie ran off when he was hiding him in a place I didn’t know about.

He knows how much worried and stressed out those pranks make me but he says my reaction is priceless and worth the yelling/lashing afterwards.

Ollie needed to be taken to the veterinary clinic for a check-up. My husband said he’d handle it. During the second visit to get the results. I received a call from my husband and his voice sounded like he wasn’t okay. I asked what was wrong. I got really worried after he said it was about Ollie.

I was starting to shake I kept asking what was going on and he told me that Ollie’s been diagnosed with cancer. He said he wanted me to come over to the clinic as soon as possible because Ollie was with the vet.

I couldn’t stand. I started asking is that why Ollie lost weight lately? And such. I rushed to the clinic and found my husband standing near the entrance with Ollie. First thing I noticed was him laughing hysterically telling me that I really bought in to his lie.

I was confused he said it was just a prank Ollie is perfectly healthy and handed me the results to check. After I checked I lost it. I lashed out at him. Ngl I called him awful names and his face suddenly turned red like he didn’t expect me to react that way.

He argued that I made it a big deal “obviously” and was being mean to him over a prank that didn’t even last an hour. I kept lashing out I didn’t give him a chance to keep talking I took Ollie and the keys then I left. I arrived to the clinic in a taxi. I left him at the clinic while me and Ollie went home by the car.

3 hours later he came back and was upset. He usually laughs even in serious situations but this time he didn’t. He argued that I shouldn’t have left him like that and that I overreacted. Said he was trying to make good memories to look back on and laugh at but I was unnecessarily overreacting. He stopped talking after that.

Just wanted to mention that this started months after his father’s passing. His family said he never mentions his dad nor keep anything of his although they were very close.

I never met his father but they told me he wasn’t suffering from anything and his death was sudden and my husband had a hard time processing it. This could be the reason for his behavior.”
