It must just be too expensive to have the sqare footage to support a roller-skating rink in an urban area.”

As an example, a brand new Cessna 172 in 1969 cost $12,500 (about $90,000 in today’s money). Today, a 2021 model would cost around $400,000.”

Back when 2008 financial crisis happened most fields I knew lost 3/4 of their serious players and most never returned. Which really sucks because paintball was growing really fast until then.”

Where you could go, pick a piece, clean it. They would fire it for you then go back a week later and paint it. They fire it for you again.

I don’t have anywhere near that money and decide to do what the lawyer recommended. The lawyer told me filling out the police report is not the same as pressing charges but I’m still scared what might happen to her.

We use to be very poor and she used my social insurance to pay the bills and provide for me and my brother. This feels like I’m betraying her and her and my brother refuse to speak to me. My relatives all stopped talking to me.

A Person Told Their Friend to Leave and Never Come Back. Were They Wrong?

Get out and don’t come back!

Nobody ever wants to hear that, right?

But that’s what this person felt they had to do to a friend who was not respecting their boundaries.

“I’ve been thinking about posting this for a while but I’ve held off.

Around 2 weeks ago, I invited a few friends over to my house to chill and hang out. Now, in my friend group, a lot of them think that I’m weird because I collect things; but for me, it’s an investment. I have a specific room where I have tons of old video games, dolls, baseball/football cards, and antiques, that easily total over 100k; and since prices keep rising, I keep collecting things I know will be valuable later on.

I have this really cherished antique that I, in all my trading, both buying and selling, have never even considered anything to do with it; an incredibly old Springfield 1861 musket, bayonet included. It was passed down from generations ago, and I still have it.

One of my friends asked me what “valuable junk” I have, and I decided to turn up my ego and told him that I had a genuine 1861 Springfield rifle. None of them believed me, so I told them that I would go up, take a picture, and bring it back down.

The guy who asked said that wasn’t enough, and that it could’ve been faked, and then thought it was his personal right to practically run to my room without my permission.

We all practically chased after him to stop him, and right as he entered the room he tripped over a bunch of baseball cards and smashed 3 pots that totalled around 6 grand. I told him to leave immediately and that I didn’t want to talk to him again, and that I was going to press charges. I still hold it against my friend for getting into the place when I told him no.

A lot of other friends are saying that I was way too harsh with it, that it was an accident. I then told them that it was his fault for entering when I specifically told him not to, and that those items were worth a lot to me, sentimentally as well, since I’d had them for over 10 years. They’ve been telling me I need to stop the legal action.

AITA?”

Is This Person Rude for Not Letting Their Neighbor Hang Stuff on His Fence?

I’ve learned in my life that people get really worked up about a lot of stuff, especially when it comes to houses.

Two of those things are yards and fences.

And, in case you haven’t been paying attention, it would be in your best interest to NOT mess with either of those things…

And this neighborly dispute over a fence got ugly…let’s check it out.

AITA for building a fence on my property and not allowing my neighbor to hang stuff on it or paint it?

“This will probably be rather short and I am not sure if it’s worth posting, but I really need to get a read on whether I am being an a**hole or not, so here goes.

I bought a house with a big yard several months ago, it is my very first house and the most expensive thing I have ever owned, prior to this I have only ever lived in apartments and the dynamic between neighbors seems really different, which is another reason I am asking.

When I moved here there was a very old rotten wooden fence on the property separation line between me and my new neighbors property, I wanted to replace it from the start however I decided to focus on the house first, you know the usual stuff, fixing up what needed “fixing upping”, Painting, Flooring, moving in the furniture and so on before focusing on the yard.

Now the guy who owned my house before was an old man and because of his age the Yard had not seen much work done for what I assume were several years, so it has been a lot of work fixing up the yard. About a month ago I finally got some time to replace the fence. I went over to the neighbors house, talked about replacing the Fence and if he was going to split the cost with me but he would have nothing of it, he said the fence was fine and he has no issue with no fence so if I want to remove it I should go ahead but he was not giving me a dime to replace it.

It’s worth adding that the previous Fence was completely on my property and purchased completely by the previous owner, the neighbor has no claim on it.

While I was a bit weirded out by his response I decided to just finance the fence myself and install it myself, being quite a few bucks and a lot of hard work lighter I am now the proud owner of a nice, tall, wooden fence. I need to point out just to make this clear, I paid for it entirely, I put it up by myself, I removed the old fence on my own and the fence is entirely on my side of the property line.

I came home from work a few days ago to find my fence on the neighbors side entirely filled with plant pots, the border also filled in with all sorts of plants and he had painted it.

I went over to my neighbor and demanded he take all of it down alongside demanding he’d get his sand grinder and take the paint of off my fence as well, after all you don’t want to pay for it, you don’t get to paint it or hang s**t on it or for that matter plant stuff in my yard(As I said the fence is entirely on my property, so the border of his yard where he planted stuff is also mine).

He laughed at me and essentially told me to get f**ked. Well I went back there, tossed all his c**p off off my fence, pulled all of his plants out and tossed them in his yard and painted the side towards his fence an obnoxious bright yellow.

I have since had him raging at my door, his kids came over to yell at me as they had worked for hours on it and well, here we are, I am wondering whether I am the a**hole as I might have gone too far.”

This Mom Won’t Let Her Daughter Read Above Her Age Group. Is She Wrong?

Parents try to put a lot of restrictions on kids and each one is free to raise their kids the best way they see fit.

But this one strikes me as kind of weird…if I’m being totally honest.

Check out this story about a mom who wants to know if she’s being an a**hole for not letting her daughter read above her age group…and also check out the responses below.

AITA for only buying my daughter books that are close to her reading level?

“My daughter Rose (9) is a very advanced reader. She’s in 3rd grade (8-9 year olds) but reads at a 9th grade (14-15 years old) level.

Despite her advanced reading level, the only books she wants to read are the I Survived series and the A-Z mysteries. Both of these books are far below her reading level so I told her it’s fine if she wants to read them in school but at home she has to read things closer to her level.

I’ve taken her to bookstores and we’ve looked through the young adult section but she refuses to read any of the books. She says they’re all boring and gross. She always asks to get books from the children’s section but I’ve said no because they’re too easy for her.

Rose has started sneaking books home from school and when I started taking those away, she stopped reading in general. Now Rose has pulled away from me and her teacher is recommending that I let her read whatever she wants.

Rose’s dad (my ex) found out about this and tore into me for not letting Rose read books for kids her age and offered to send her books but that’s not the problem. I don’t have a problem with Rose reading but if she’s going to read, she should read something close to her level.

Now everyone’s mad at me so I wanted to know if I was the a**hole?”

She Had the Police Go to Her Stepsister’s Wedding. Is She a Jerk?

It’s the cops! Everybody run!

Okay, I guess the people involved in this story couldn’t really run for it because they were at a wedding…which makes this story so strange.

AITA For sending the police to my stepsister’s wedding?

“I (f32) lost my mom when I was 23.

It was by far the most traumatic loss I had experienced. I just couldn’t and didn’t want to accept her death. It was unfair, untimely, and preventable. I got in therapy and was doing better but I had issues with my dad’s new wife and her daughter who’s 25 and just got married weeks ago.

We do not have a close relationship but we were cordial enough to sit at dinner tables. My stepsister treats me as a relative and was as much distant from me. But after my father got sick we had to see each other a lot. I’m handling his care while stepmom works full time and stepsister doesn’t do much though she’s always visiting when I moved in to help my dad.

Before that I was living with my ex so returing home was just in time. I brought with me all of my mom’s belongings and my stepsister showed interest in my mom’s necklace and asked if she could borrow it to wear it at her wedding. I refused and she tried every method to convince me i had to put it in a place where I thought it’d be safe after my stepmother got involved.

As the wedding approached they both kept convincing me to let my stepsister have it (she bragged about affording a better one but it was a matter of showing who’s in control) I stood my ground and told them how serious I was so they backed off.

I didn’t attend the wedding to stay with my dad. I remember wanting to change where I was hiding the necklace while the house was empty but I found it was gone. After searching for hours, I called my stepmom and she said not to worry my stepsister took it and will return it when the wedding is over but it was clear that I won’t see it til after the honeymoon since she said her daughter was staying at a hotel.

I screamed at her to return it but she argued about not wanting to leave the guests and the wedding already started. I told her I’d get it myself but she forbid me from coming saying she’d have to keep me out for wanting to make a scene. I called the Police and explained to them what was happening. I informed them my stepsister intended to leave for her honeymoon with my property.

The Police were sent to where the wedding was being held and they were able to retrieve the necklace from my stepsister. She and my stepmom were in shock and livid. She (stepmom) returned home and kept shouting at me calling me petty and crazy to send the police to my stepsister’s wedding. ruining it and humiliating them over a piece of jewelry.

She was screaming at my sick dad telling him to handle me after the stunt that I pulled at the wedding. I defended myself saying I only wanted an item that belonged to me THAT THEY TOOK WITHOUT PERMISSION returned. She argued further that I could’ve waited to get it back but I chose to burn the bridge with my stepsister and said that she considers me dead after this. She said stuff I can’t mention here but all I can say is it was a bad night.

I might have overreacted by getting the police involved but I had no gaurantee of getting the necklace back since I have experience with them in the past.

A Guy Told His Neighbor Off After an Argument. Was He Wrong?

It’s starting to sound like the Hatfields and the McCoys on social media lately!

Every time I turn around, I feel like I hear about another story of neighbors gone wild.

And here’s another one! So hang on tight…

It comes to us from Reddit’s “Am I The A**hole?” page…let’s take a look at what went down.

AITA For telling my neighbor to get f**ked when he told me to remove my doorbell camera?

“So lately, there have been a number of burglaries in the area I live in.

My wife and I were among those who got burglarized and most of the stuff we lost were packages and electronics. My wife and I both work long hours so we’re not home most of the time and despite taking precautions, we still are concerned for the safety of our belongings as well as other things.

So I decided to get a doorbell camera which frankly has become a necessity and it’s cheap to buy ($199) and easy to install. And so far we were able to catch a number of thieves in act (to my surprise some of them I knew personally and were from the area) which helped lot in getting our stuff back.

Onto the issue: So my neighbor and I were discussing this with few other neighbors and I showed him a video that was taking by the camera to explain how we were able to identify the individuals who tried to steal stuff. I was fastforward-ing the footage but He suddenly freaked out and pointed at his wife who was at the door to visit my wife.

I was confused when he asked how long I been keeping this video/and if I made copies of it. He then proceeded to tell me it did not feel right to see his wife being recorded by the doorbell cam and the fact that I didn’t get rid of this part since it had nothing to do with catching the thieves made him uncomfortable.

I apologized for any misunderstanding and promised that it had nothing to do with his wife we had few people stand at our door who were shown on our cam so I wasn’t just his wife. He cut the conversation and left. Then came back in the evening to ask for how long I will be keeping this camera. I said no then he suggested I install one inside but I still said no. He got all p**sed and said that I was acting inappropriately and mean after he came to me with his concerns expecting me to understand that he doesn’t want me having ‘footages’ of his wife. I told him his wife can stop coming over if he was so worried but he went on about never telling his wife what to do or where to go.

He insisted I remove the cam but I told him to get F-ed and never bring this up again. He left and got others involved, they told me I should be more considerate of my neighbor’s feelings and understand where he’s coming from but I stood my ground and refused to remove the camera.

My wife thinks I was being a jerk to our neighbor and his wife and have some respect for them but I don’t think I was being disrespectful. Was I?”

What Food Seems Okay Until You Realize How It’s Made? Here’s What People Had to Say.

We’ve all heard the stories about how hot dogs are made…yuck!

But they sure are delicious, don’t you think?

You know it! But still…kinda gross…

What food sounds fine until you learn how it’s made?

Here’s how AskReddit users responded.

1. Didn’t know.

“I once was at a conference in Japan.

Me and some friends went into a small restaurant for dinner. My French colleague insisted on ordering Foie Gras, besides other things.

I knew the German name for this but not the French one, so I didn’t know what he ordered there until I later called my boyfriend and he told me.

In Germany you can’t even produce Foie Gras due to obvious animal welfare problems with literally force feeding geese into developing a fatty, sick liver just to eat it.”

2. That’s a bummer.

“I was surprised to learn from people who’ve worked on farms just how bloody harvesting crops is.

There’s not really a good way to clear out wild animals so all of them get ripped to shreds by the heavy machinery moving through the fields.

I miss being able to assume no animals d**d making my produce.”

3. Scraps.

“While off-putting I see no problems with some of the “scraps” we eat.

It’s perfectly fine to me that I’m eating the scraps of chicken in chicken nuggets. Gelatin from bones and ligaments. The reject pieces of animal being used to make so many great foods or items. People want to say the Natives had the right idea, using every part of the animal.

But suddenly turning around to say eating black pudding is disgusting? I feel better knowing that we used every ounce of that cow, the cow didn’t d** in vain. The cow was used for milk, once done with that stage sold for meat. The meat market sells the bones for dog bones, gelatin, beef stock, literally anything else. Nothing goes to waste.

Don’t get me wrong the treatment from cow to meat and then the food waste alone is problematic but that’s not what the thread is about. We use every part of every item. ‘Scuse me, I have nuggets in the oven that are ready.”

“Black Pudding is a common breakfast food, but kinda messed up when you think about how it’s made.”

“Cranberry harvesting.

There are a lot and I mean a ridiculous amount of spiders especially Wolf spiders, everywhere.

They crawl up the machines, they crawl up the people harvesting them it’s a nightmare.”

“Gummy Bears ( or just gummies in general).

Took me 19 years to find out that the way they’re made is with pig carcasses and bones.”

“Cheez whiz. It’s transparent until they add the orange coloring.

I don’t know why but that makes me nope out. Not like Cheez Whiz is a salad or anything, don’t get me wrong.

But I don’t think I fully comprehended just how fake it was until I found that out.”

The goose has been force fed corn and fatty foods its entire life causing intense strain on the liver as it swells and bloats within their body, resulting in better flavor at significant expense of the goose quality of life.”

9. What’s that smell?

“Gelatine.

Comes from processing cattle faces, noses and ears still attached. I worked in a tannery, the face doesn’t have any viable use once tanned so it’s cut from the rest of the hide.

Fun Fact: the truck only came once a week and the pieces were stored outside in a half walled shed, so during summer the smell could be rather…ripe.”

“Avocados from Mexico.

I just learned about the avocado cartel and how they make more money than the drug cartels and it’s insane. Do some research.

Don’t eat avocados from Mexico.”

“Fish sauce

I went to a fish sauce factory in Vietnam a few years ago. In a giant silo, they put in 1 tonne of fish, and 1 tonne of salt.

After a year, they open a tap at the bottom of the silo, and hey presto, the liquid that pours out is fish sauce.”

“My German/Polish grandmother made Czernina – Duck Blood Soup.

Being a good farm wife, she would go out to the shed where my grandfather kept some of his birds (chicken, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, peahens, peacocks and a few more I don’t remember). She usually was able to grab a duck on the first try and slit its throat with the straight edge razor she used for butchering small animals. She would squeeze the blood into her steel Thermos bottle, cap it and butcher the duck (sometimes a chicken).

She would roast or fry the bird and make the Czernina which smells exactly like you would think boiled blood smells like but worse. It would take at least a week for the smell to leave the house.

There were times when she would send me to school with her Thermos bottle (filled with milk this time) to school a day or two after she washed out the blood.

Of course, she also made Jello salad with peas, carrots and corn in it. Also, tuna hot dish. There’s no such thing as a casserole in Wisconsin or Minnesota, its proper name is Hot Dish, that’s a hill I will d** on.”
