This Dad Took the Family Cat to the Groomer and Returned with an Accordion-Shaped Cat

There’s probably no one alive who hasn’t left a hair salon with that sick, annoyed, or angry feeling in the pit of their stomach that can only mean one thing – you got a bad haircut.

Our pets are not exempt from this rule, though whether or not they feel embarrassed over a poor snip is up for discussion.

Twitter user Caitlin Christine shared these hilarious images of her family’s cat after a botch job that honestly? Might not have totally been the groomer’s fault.

Because her father dropped the cat off and asked for it to “look like a tiger, do what you can do” in order to mess with his wife.

And this is what they got. Pure genius.

The family was fairly amused, but mom didn’t quite see the humor in owning an accordion-shaped cat for the weeks to come.

Twitter, however, definitely came down on the “this is hilarious” side.

Because, come on… this IS hilarious.

Mom needs to grow a sense of humor.

Classic dad move…

Decide for yourself, but idk. I think she’s going to find the whole thing funny.

Eventually…

An Abundance of “Cat Ladders” Makes Switzerland a Cat-Lover’s Dream

Everyone knows that cats pretty much live to climb all over everything. Whether it’s shelves, furniture, tabletops, or your head, kitties gonna climb. They also crave the freedom to explore their neighborhood on their own terms, coming and going as they please (if they’re an outdoor cat, at least).

Naturally, then, it would make sense that cat-loving apartment owners might want to create some way for their cats to still be able to go in and out without needing to learn how to operate a door code. It just makes sense, right?

Clearly it did to the people of Switzerland – particularly the residents of the city of Bern, where “cat ladders” seem to adorn just about every building.

The cat ladders come in all shapes and sizes, and they are all pretty impressive. Get a load of these ingenious ladder designs for the Swiss kitties.

These Mischeivous Goats Had to Get Adorable Headgear to Curb Their Shenanigans

Goats are awesome. They’re generally pretty chill, just roaming around eating grass. While they can also have a mischievous side, they take to training pretty well.

But first, you must teach them not to ram you with those pointy horns! With what? Pool noodles!

Start training when they are young. Goats can become aggressive as they age, and pool noodles and tennis balls are a great temporary solution to avoid being injured! Sure, these methods may come off from “play” or if another goat decides to chew them off, but they’re not only adorable but cheap to replace. So, why not?

A goat’s sharp little horns are their survival gear.

Aggressive behavior can come in many forms, such as kicking, biting, and head-butting. And we all know goats are notoriously stubborn, so that foam headgear helps with training. Also, if you have little children around, pool noodles and other forms of “horn protection” will keep them safe.

On to training! Just like dogs, goats are extremely trainable, making them part of the family.

Dummies provides a whole page dedicated to training your goat!

“You need a clicker, which is a mechanical device that makes a click sound, and treats such as peanuts or flakes of cereal. By combining the click with a treat, you reinforce that the goat is doing the right thing. You need to start by getting the goat to make a connection between the clicker and a treat. To do this, click the clicker and then give the goat a treat about 20 to 30 times. Your goat begins to associate the clicker with food and eventually responds to just the clicker so you don’t have to supply a treat every time.”

“After you’ve shown the goat that treats are tied to clicks, you can start training. You train by issuing a command (“Come,” for example), and then clicking as the goat does what you want it to do and giving the goat a treat after he completes his task.”

“Of course, the goat won’t follow your command without practice. If the goat doesn’t respond to the command or does the wrong thing, you can just say “wrong” or another word, and then try again.

Always click as the goat does the behavior and then give the treat. If you give the treat first, you risk the goat being caught up in eating and not noticing the clicker.”

Who knew goats were this easy to train? So when you decide on a goat instead of a puppy, remember to get some cute protective headgear.

Florida Brewery Creates Edible Six-Pack Rings, Ensuring No Turtles Will Ever Die Eating Them Again

Human activity has put the oceans in extreme peril. There is enough plastic in the oceans to form a minor continent and to say that it’s killing marine wildlife would be putting it too kindly.

Turtles, in particular, can get seriously injured or killed when they get tangled in the plastic rings used to connect six-packs of beer or soft drinks, or when they eat floating plastic bags thinking they’re tasty jellyfish.

Fortunately, one of those problems might have a solution!

A Florida brewery believes they can help end the scourge of six-pack rings ending up in the water. Their goal is to keep turtles and their marine friends healthy and happy, while maintaining the convenience of grabbing a six-pack from the grocery store. To that end, SaltWater Brewery, working in conjunction with startup E6PR, has launched the biodegradable/compostable/edible six-pack ring.

P A S S I O N F R U I T 💯

A post shared by SaltWater Brewery (@saltwaterbrewery) on

The craft beer microbrewery, based in Delray Beach, Florida, now uses rings made out of barley and wheat instead of plastic. If the environmentally friendly packaging ends up in the ocean, it begins to break down within 2 hours – plus, it can be safely consumed by turtles and other animals. It should totally biodegrade within 2-3 months, on land  or in the water.

South Florida stores already have the rings on their shelves.

The rings are the first of their kind, and the idea is an excellent one. But the innovation doesn’t come cheap. The Mexican company behind the development, E6PR, is marketing the packaging to other beverage companies in the hopes of both bringing costs down and encouraging the use of plastic alternatives in creative ways.

So, expect to see these on your favorite beverages in the near future (hopefully!).

Just an FYI, the manufacturer does not suggest that anyone actually eat the rings or feed them to wildlife. The best way to dispose of the eco-rings is to put them in a compost pile.

The use of biodegradable packaging is a great development for the Gulf region, which has one of the world’s highest concentrations of plastic trash.

Over 50 other beverage companies have expressed interest in jumping on the edible ring bandwagon, which is a great start to reducing their contribution to our current garbage crisis!

Photographer Spends Two Years Taking Heartbreaking Photos of Soon-to-Be Extinct Animals

The plight of endangered animals is a very real one, and it’s largely our own fault. Thankfully, while much of the world wrings its hands in apathy, there are people like British photographer Tim Flach – a man who has made it his mission to document this plight and raise awareness around animals facing extinction.

Flach spent two years around the habitats of endangered animals, photographing their everyday lives. The images he’s created are both extremely powerful and heartbreaking.

A recent U.N. report stated that a staggering one million species of animals and plants are now facing extinction, which makes Flach’s work even more important.

Here are 15 examples of Flach’s photos. You can order his book Endangered on Amazon.
