PETA Just Posted a Bizarre Image That Left the Internet Horrified

Between all the squabbling that’s tearing our nation apart these days, there’s still one surefire way to bring people across all aisles of the spectrum together: PETA crossing the damn line with their weirdness.

The organization’s name stands for “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals,” which seems like a noble enough goal… until you see some of the outrageous stunts they pull (like suing a wildlife photographer on behalf of the monkey he photographed). They’re more of a radical anti-human group than they are a pro-animal rights group.

While they have occasionally done some good, they’ve wasted millions of dollars in truly bizarre, totally useless bids for publicity. The latest case in point?

This horror that I can’t unsee.

Yeah, it’s exactly what it looks like. A weird, anthropomorphized cow letting some creepy old man suckle from it.

The caption reads:

Looks weird right? It’s what you’re doing if you drink cow’s milk. Raiseyour hand if you know that humans shouldn’t be drinking cow’s breast milk. It was made for their babies—not you!

It didn’t take long before nearly all of Twitter united to make fun of it…

Some people definitely liked the image more than I did.

Others wondered if the images were part of some kind of secret furry agenda PETA has.

For those of you who don’t know, a “furry” is someone who’s “an enthusiast for animal characters with human characteristics, in particular a person who dresses up in costume as such a character or uses one as an avatar online.” Thanks, Dictionary.com!

While being a furry isn’t inherently sexual, it definitely can have that component to it (and is probably most famous for that reason).

Some people were even… stirred… pretty deeply by the image.

The longer you look at it, the more weirdness you start to notice.

Seriously PETA, WTF?

Thinking about Getting a Pet? Check Out the 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds in America

Dogs are absolutely one of the best things about life on Earth – they’re loving, loyal, funny, and make coming home from work 100x more amazing (even more so than kids, but don’t tell mine I said that). And while adoptions are on the rise (I love a good mutt, myself), people in America still feel pulls toward adopting certain purebred breeds.

Below are the 10 most popular among dog owners living in the States.

#10. Yorkshire Terrier

The only toy dog to make the list, this little pup packs a big punch.

Grieving Dog Owner Warns Pet Parents About Toxic Sugar Substitute That Killed Her Best Friend

On most days, I love my job because of all the fun things I get to write about. Every now and then, however, are those stories that must be told, despite how heartbreaking they are. This is one such story, and while it brings me no pleasure to report it, it’s definitely the kind of thing that everyone needs to be made aware of.

A woman named Kate Chacksfield is trying to warn other pet owners out there that the sweetener xylitol can be fatal to pets. She found out in the worst possible way – her beloved dog Ruby passed away after eating brownies that contained xylitol.

Chacksfield said that Ruby had gotten into brownies before and the chocolate did not make the dog sick. But when Ruby ate two brownies containing xylitol she was extremely sick within 36 hours. Chacksfield said she would have taken Ruby to the vet much sooner if she knew xylitol was harmful to dogs.

Xylitol is a sugar substitute that people use to try to lose weight. Chacksfield used it in her brownies because it has much fewer calories than sugar. She had no idea that xylitol can cause liver failure, seizures, and in some cases death for dogs that consume it.

After Chacksfield rushed Ruby to the vet, the poor dog’s condition quickly worsened. Eight days later, Ruby died. Chacksfield said, “I had no idea how serious eating natural sweeteners was for dogs, the photos of her on life support still make me cry.”

All you dog owners out there, take note. Keep xylitol and other harmful things away from your pets at all times. And if you notice something is wrong, take them to the vet immediately instead of waiting around a day or two to see if they improve.

New Beer for Dogs Lets You Get Wasted with Your Furry Best Friend

Do you love dogs? Do you also love beer? Well then listen up!

Good Boy Dog Beer is here and it’s brewed specifically for your dogs, so you don’t have to slip them a sip of your Old Style anymore when they won’t stop begging.

Good Boy Dog Beer (obviously non-alcoholic, sorry Fido) was created by a Texas couple named Megan and Steve Long so they could drink with their pooch, Rocky. They’ve turned their hobby into a business, and they now distribute their product throughout East Texas. The Longs skip the fermentation stage of the brewing process, though, because hops and alcohol are poisonous to dogs.

The Long’s line of dog beers has some pretty great names, including Mailman Malt Licker, Session Squirrel, and Crotch Sniffin’ Ale.

Megan Long explained the reason behind their special dog beer. She said Good Boy is for their “love for our own puppies and all the animals out there. Our oldest Rottweiler, Rocky, is very sensitive to foods and allergies so we started creating him his own treats and managing his diet better. It helped his allergy outbreaks significantly and we just seemed to progress from there eventually starting our own line of beer for dogs.”

You read that right, Good Boy Dog Beer might also help settle your dog’s stomach in addition to quenching their thirst. Cheers!

If you want to learn more, check out Good Boy’s Frequently Asked Questions page HERE.

Also, please drink responsibly – duh.

People are Building Bridges for Animals to Safely Cross Freeways

It’s always a terrible sight to see a dead animal on the highway, whether it’s a deer, coyote, dog, cat, armadillo, or whatever. Unfortunately, we’ve built endless ribbons of roads through wilderness (aka, the homes of animals) and that is just part of everyday life. It’s estimated that roads affect one-fifth of the ecology of the entire United States and that vehicle collisions with animals cost $8 BILLION per year.

Of course, you’ve seen the “Deer Xing” signs and other notices for animals that might be in a particular area, but those warnings can only do so much. That is why animal overpasses and underpasses are so important to maintaining animal habitats and saving the lives of all kinds of creatures – not to mention the hoods of our cars.

The trend started in France in the 1950s, and Europe remains a trendsetter for animal bridges. The Netherlands alone has 66 bridges scattered throughout the country to protect their wildlife, like the one you can see above. Below is an example of an animal bridge in Belgium:

The trend has taken hold in the United States and Canada over the past 30 years. The bridges and underpasses come in all shapes and sizes and are specifically designed for each ecosystem. Here is an example from New Jersey.

Here are some other great examples from across the globe. One from Germany.

Here’s a video about the animal crossings in Banff National Park in Canada that will give you some more insight into how important this trend really is.

Now this is a trend we can all get behind in a big way.
