Was This Retail Employee Wrong to Refuse to Hold A Customer’s Baby?

In the best of times, people have varying degrees of comfort with children that don’t belong to them.

Some people adore kids, and want to hold every single one who will let them, and others want nothing to do with kids or babies, no matter how cute, for valid reasons of their own.

This OP on Reddit’s Am I The A$shole works in retail, and with the current health crisis, is required to follow customers around and disinfect any surfaces they touch.

A single mother with two young children came in looking for a dryer, and wanted to check out the floor models before making any decisions.

Fine.

What wasn’t fine was that she kept trying to hand her baby off to the employee while she looked, but the person really didn’t want to hold the kid.

She demanded to speak with the manager, who agreed with her.

Both the manager and their co-workers agreed the employee should have just held the baby and been more sympathetic to the woman’s plight.

Well, this is going to be interesting.

Just the headline alone is enough to make you cringe and give you the shivers.

A woman had a very interesting story to tell and she took to Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole?” page to see if she was wrong for her actions.

First the woman gave some background on the situation.

The woman talked about how her family often brought up marriage when she would visit them in India.

She also talked about how she constantly shot down her family’s ideas about marriage.

It’s mind-blowing to me that this happens in this day and age.

A Mom Wants to Know if She’s Wrong to Change the Locks to Keep Her Kids’ Grandma Out of the House

This already sounds like a tricky situation.

Whenever there are grandparents and grandkids involved in any situation, there’s bound to be some drama and some hurt feelings some of the time.

But this woman has a unique situation: she wants to know if she was wrong for changing the locks on her house when her ex-husband gave his mom a key to the house…which sounds kind of weird to begin with…

Seems normal enough, the ex-husband would be allowed to have a key to her house for day-to-day stuff.

But then the situation went in a new direction and totally caught her by surprise.

But it seemed to be smoothed over after she had a talk with her unexpected guest.

So the woman decided to put her foot down. The grandma didn’t see eye to eye with the woman, so she decided to take some action.

That’s right, she changed the locks on her ex-husband the kids’ grandma.

The next time Granda came over to drop the boys off, she got a bit of a rude awakening.

But the ex and Grandma clearly don’t seem to be getting the point.

A Student Wants to Know if He’s Wrong for Bringing a Baby to Class

If you don’t regularly check Reddit’s “Am I the *sshole” forum, you should really check it out.

People post questions on there about things that are happening in their lives and they want to know, as the title implies, they ask Reddit users if they are an a**hole or not.

And this one is from a guy who wanted to know if it was wrong for him to bring a baby to one of his classes.

Let’s take a look at what went down.

Hey, emergencies happen, right?

And you gotta step up to the plate when family members ask you to do something, especially in a pinch.

So this guy did what he thought was right and went to watch the baby.

But the next day, by the time his online class was about to start, the parents weren’t back yet…so he decided to do the class with the baby on his lap.

The professor said it was all good so he turned on his camera, his baby cousin slept the whole time, and it went off without a hitch.

A Stepdad Wanted to Know If He Was Wrong to Try to Protect His Sons From the Reality of Menstruation

Menstruation is a fact of life, and anyone who cohabitates with a female between the ages of 10 and 50(ish) at any point of their lives, for any reason, can expect to have to deal with the entire process on some level.

A fact that apparently didn’t occur to this man or his three older teenaged sons when he married a woman with a nineteen-year-old daughter.

The four of them share a bathroom, everyone gets along great, but this is their first time living with a woman for any sort of time.

His oldest son, 18 (!) came to him and said they were uncomfortable seeing their stepsister’s period products in the trash can in the shared bathroom.

Instead of telling his son it’s a part of life and to suck it up, he talked to his stepdaughter, asking her to dispose of them more discreetly (or flush them, what?!).

He was upset that she laughed it off, and even went on the offensive, and was even more irritated when his wife did the same later that night.

Since he believed it was a real issue, he tried to talk to his daughter again, and was rebuffed with extreme prejudice.

You will not be surprised to find that most on Reddit think OP (original poster) is, in fact, the a**hole here, a judgement that also extends to his sons.

Many people thought he’d missed a chance to help educate his sons on a natural process, and how to be better men.

Others pointed out that the sons seem pretty immature for their age, and never having lived with a woman is really no excuse for not being educated about how to.

And pointed out that it’s best they learn about this kind of thing from a sister, and not after they’ve treated their first girlfriend or wife like some kind of leper.

A Woman Cut off Her Parents After Learning They Lied to Her About Allergies Her Entire Life

Relationships can be tough, and sometimes the ones with family are even more complicated than the romantic or friendship-types you choose on your own. It’s tougher to call it quits with family, honestly, because there are all kinds of complicated feelings that go along with the people who are supposed to love and protect you choosing not to do that.

This man, though, decided it was time to cut his parents completely out of her life, only to second guess himself after the fact.

As a child, he followed a strict diet like everyone else in the house. He never got sweets or treats, he was careful, he carried his EpiPen.

Then one day, he accidentally took a brownie from the wrong plate at his aunt’s house and nothing happened.

His mother tried to explain it away but he went and got an allergy test anyway, finding out at 19 that he’d never had any allergies.

His mother doubled down, saying it was for his own good and look how healthy he is, how he doesn’t care about carbs, but he still isn’t talking to her – and he wants to know if he’s wrong.

Just reading the headline for this post, you might be thinking this woman was in the wrong. Humiliating anyone isn’t typically the way to go, as it has more downsides than upsides, but like with all of the posts on the subreddit Am I The A**hole, you might want to hear her out.

This woman begins by saying that her brother-in-law is a know-it-all and blowhard who isn’t as smart as his family has always promised him he was. She’s annoyed by his misogynistic tendencies and his lack of ability to hear anyone but himself.

He also never admits when he’s wrong.

They were at a dinner and he was spouting about the stock market, and though OP (original poster) thought it sounded wrong, she didn’t really know.

What she did know was that her friend, who was an expert, was at the table. She hadn’t heard, so OP asked her BIL to repeat everything for her sake.

A Woman Asked If She’s Wrong to Take a Spare Key Back From Friend She Found Snooping in Her House

I have friends who’ve given people spare keys before to let out their dog and they later found out that the person they trusted had been digging around their house while they were gone.

That’s just a huge NO-NO in my book, so I wasn’t surprised when they took the keys away from their s0-called friends and those relationships definitely suffered because of it.

A woman took to Reddit’s “Am I the Asshole?” thread and asked the folks on that forum to ask if she was wrong for taking a spare key away from her friend who she unexpectedly surprised in her own home.
