Tweets That Wax Nostalgic for Old School Pizza Hut

2020 has unexpectedly given us time to look back at things we miss from childhood, and Pizza Hut as it used to be is one of them.

Yes, Pizza Hut is very much is still in existence. However, in decades past, it was a sit-down restaurant that was more slow service than fast food. Come with us to remember the sights, sounds, and smells of sizzling pizza in a cast iron pan, and ice-cold Pepsi, a yummy salad bar and hours of video game fun.

Let’s start with this delicious legend:

The restaurants looked a lot different.

We’d kill for one of these lamps!

They gave off that old school Italian restaurant vibe.

We can almost taste the macaroni salad side—yum!

These glasses kept your Pepsi extra cold too.

He’s right; it had a certain unforgettable taste to it.

Pizza Hut taught some of us how to read.

If you want to teach kids to read today, this is the way to do it!

You got a serious bang for your buck.

And all the video games you could possibly stand.

People that haven’t experienced old school Pizza Hut don’t know what they’re missing.

Even today’s Pizza Hut agrees. You know what you have to do guys!

There are so many things like this that we miss, we don’t even know where to begin. Wouldn’t it be great to revisit Pizza Hut as it was just one more time?

Was McDonald’s Better When We Were Kids? You Bet It Was!

Back when us olde rfolks were growing up in the 1980s and ’90s, going to McDonald’s was definitely not a twice or more a week sort of event that happened because mom (cough, cough) didn’t plan very well. Not by a long shot.

It was a special occasion that was fun and nutritious!

Well, maybe not nutritious. But definitely fun – at McDonald’s there was stuff to do and clowns to see and gifts to get.

So many great toys that you couldn’t play with until you ate everything and drank all your soda because they didn’t have milk haha.

‘Gremlins’ Is Coming Back to Theaters This December

Gremlins hit theaters in 1984, and it’s safe to say that the horror/comedy film has become a cult classic that a whole lot of people watch around Christmas.

Let’s all have a refresher and watch the original trailer, okay?

If you’re a fan of this fun, freaky, fright-fest, I have great news for you! Gremlins is returning to theaters for one week only: December 5 – December 11.

It makes sense, because the film is set during Christmastime and some consider it a “holiday movie” (omg that scene…you know that one I’m talking about).

If you’ve never seen Joe Dante’s Gremlins, let’s get all caught up. A man buys his son a gift at a store in Chinatown. What does he buy? A ‘mogwai’, an adorable little creature that comes with a few rules. The shopkeeper tells the man not to expose the creature to bright light or water…and don’t feed it after midnight.

Well, you can probably imagine what happens next. I’ll leave the rest up in the air, just in case you’ve never seen it before.

The film will screen in 4DX, which Regal describes as “immersive cinematic experience presents the future of the movie industry.” Or, as one website put it, “4DX at Regal is the ultimate experience involving motion chairs and special effects like wind and rain.”

Which sounds legitimately awesome.

Sony Has a New Walkman to Commemorate Its 40th Anniversary

It must’ve been about 1984 when my older brother Rich got a Walkman for Christmas. I was mesmerized by it. Of course, I wasn’t allowed to touch it, but I did admire it from afar until I got my own a few years later and started amassing a killer tape collection featuring hand-me-downs from Rich like AC/DC, The Ramones, and other bands that warped my young mind.

But I digress. We should all be excited that Sony announced it is releasing a Walkman to celebrate the original Walkman’s 40th anniversary. The original Sony TPS-L2 debuted in 1979 and quickly changed the electronics game. It was the first truly portable personal tape player, and it quickly became a staple of music lovers everywhere.

At the IFA electronics trade show in Berlin last week, Sony announced it is releasing a new version of the groundbreaking Walkman. The new Sony NW-A100TPS Walkman looks pretty amazing and is powered by Android.

It features a cassette tape interface, and the case has a 40th-anniversary logo on the back. It also has an S-Master HX digital amplifier to give listeners high-res audio, a processor to give compressed audio tracks a higher quality, and a vinyl processor that gives digital tracks a vinyl-like quality.

It also has 26 hours of battery life.

I don’t know about you, but my nostalgia just kicked into high gear, and I’m gonna need to get my hands on one of these!
