This IKEA Store Is Opening Its Doors to Give Stray Dogs a Warm Place to Sleep

As Old Man Winter tightens his icy grip around the world, one IKEA store in Italy has decided to go above and beyond in considering the plight of our furry friends during this time.

The store, located in Catania, Italy, has been letting stray dogs relax and sleep in the warm comfort of the store, giving them a crucial chance to survive winter by avoiding frigid overnight temperatures.

An IKEA customer who happened upon a group of dogs snoozing near a living room display said, “My reaction was pure amazement. It’s not a common thing.”

The dogs are also fed at the store, and some have even been adopted by IKEA customers who just couldn’t resist those adorable puppy dog eyes.

Another customer said, “I felt a feeling of deep tenderness and great happiness in seeing dogs crouched in the exhibition space at the entrance of the IKEA. If all the stores that had the space would make a place of refuge for strays, I would be really happy.”

Here’s a couple more photos because you know you need this.

Does that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, or what?

Illustrated Chart of Every Brewery in the U.S.A. is Every Beer Lover’s Dream

Did you know that four out of ten Americans who drink prefer beer as their alcoholic drink of choice? Yes, beer, that glorious king of beverages is clearly well-loved, and if you’re a beer lover yourself, you’ll certainly enjoy this chart of every brewery currently in the United States!

Over 5,000 breweries are marked—virtually every beer producer in the country. Pop Chart Lab used data from the Brewers Association, as well as extensive online research to create this unique graphic for beer lovers.

The map can be further enlarged on the Pop Chart Lab website. At a glance, you are able to tell the number of breweries per 100,000 people. The darkest sections show the locations where more than 6 breweries per 100,000 people exist. The lightest sections indicate less than 0.5 breweries per 100,000 people.

The website also allows visitors to enlarge the East Coast, West Coast and Midwest portions of the country to see more of the brewtiful details. Looks like beer drinking is almost an occupation for folks in New England and the Pacific Northwest…

10 Deeply Profound Shower Thoughts

Shower thoughts are the random little epiphanies that you experience while you’re showering (hence the name). There’s just something about idly scrubbing between your toes that opens up your mind in ways you can’t access at other times. Some of these thoughts can be truly revelatory. Others… are a bit more random.

Reddit’s “Shower Thoughts” thread is chock full of these useless ideas.

This Hidden Shrine of Danny DeVito Inside a College Bathroom is Raising So Many Questions

Danny DeVito is a pretty famous guy. He’s played some memorable roles in films like Matilda and Get Shorty, as well as his extended run on TV’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But he’s not exactly the kind of actor you’d think would have a shrine dedicated to him, right?

Wrong. Apparently, students at New York’s SUNY Purchase College have done just that… or they created a cult following for their leader, Danny DeVito. Who knows.

Here’s what we know: recently, someone discovered a secret shrine in one of the college’s bathrooms, hidden behind a paper towel dispenser.

Not only is it wonderfully creepy and/or charming (depending on who you ask), it’s filled with treasures left behind for the It’s Always Sunny in Philiadelphia star. Plastic spoons, cigarettes, liquor bottles, and a graffiti picture of Squidward, to name a few, were laid at the feet of a cardboard cut out of DeVito.

Once the Administration caught wind, they tweeted:

But soon after it went viral and students began clawing to give thanks and service to the shrine, the school sealed it up.

Many students, as well as other twitter enthusiasts, took to reviving it in various ways to show the love and support every fallen shrine deserves.

Danny had a good laugh as well and sent an important message about garbage:

But questions still remain…Who did this? Why the obsession with DeVito? And how in the world did they find a removable paper towel dispenser? Alas, we may never know the truth, and I hope it doesn’t keep you up at night wondering as well…

A Zebra and a Donkey Had a Baby, and It Is Extremely Adorable

Animal crossbreeds have existed for a long time. The most famous example would likely be the humble mule, a cross between a horse and a donkey. More recently, we’ve also seen ligers – the offspring of a lion and a tiger.  Recently, a pretty rare paring between a zebra and a donkey in Britain has resulted in a zonkey. This lil guy, known as Zippy the zonkey, is only the second of his kind in the world.

This is, I repeat, just the second time this has ever happened (the first zonkey, Zambi, was born in Lincolnshire, England). And we’re so glad that on October 2nd, 2018, Zippy shocked his owners and emerged into the world.

Kristine Turner owns a 55-acre farm in South Barrow with several donkeys and one special zebra, Ziggy. She purchased Ziggy for £10,000 in Germany never thinking anything like Zippy would happen. But when Rags, a four-year-old donkey, fell in love at first sight with Ziggy…well, you know how it works. Ziggy was born.

Says Turner:

“Ziggy has always been a bit porky so I didn’t notice she was getting any bigger. It was a complete surprise… Last month I opened my bedroom curtains, which look onto the farm, and I just saw this little foal sitting up staring my way. I was in complete shock. I ran downstairs in my PJs, put a coat on and went over to see him.”

When asked how the little munchkin is doing, Turner answered, “He seemed like a right little character and has had a personality from day one,” she says. “He’s half wild animal, so he’ll nip and kick me a tiny bit but in a cheeky way. Then he’ll dash off.”

And Ziggy is of course a proud mama.

“Ziggy has really taken to motherhood and she’s a great mum. He’s never out of her sight. They wander around the farm and do everything together.”

I, for one, could use some more zonkeys in my life.

This Twitter Thread Explains EXACTLY Why the Imperial Measurement System Makes NO Sense

The metric system vs. the imperial system is a debate that’s been raging forever. Not that it makes any sense since metric is clearly better. The metric system is logical and very easy to use. The imperial system, which is used pretty much just in America at this point, is not. It’s a confusing system that’s really hard to make calculations and conversions with.

Twitter user @innesmck recently discovered this fact, to his absolute horror… and he did NOT hold back on his feelings!

Sensibly, he digs a bit further into the magic of the imperial system.

I guess 14 and 16 are both even? I don’t know. I didn’t come up with this system.

He continues his decline into chaos.

Even his mother betrayed him.

And cups nearly end him.

It’s a conspiracy.

Now, it’s time for existential questions.

He’s clearly become unhinged.

And, of course, someone has to have fun with poor Innes.

He’s finally lost it.

I haven’t even heard of this one.

And here we leave Innes, a broken man.

Should we tell him about miles? Nah.

Twitter Users are Sharing Photos of Their Grandparents, and They’re Absolutely Stunning

Not too long ago, one of the co-hosts of Buzzfeed Newsshared an old photo of his grandfather, calling him “a goddamn stunner” in the caption.

Fitzgerald’s next tweet invited others to share photos of their grandparents. Soon came a flood of images of grandpaps and nonnis, all looking amazing and virile enough to grab some elk on the way home for dinner.

Our grandparents were quite glamorous. No one wore their pajamas on the street. Imagine.

Someone even began restoring a few of the old photos just to be nice.

Twitter saw many wedding photos that looked like Hollywood events. The Kardashians should look so good.

Grandpa sure was rugged.

And had a spirit for adventure.

What was it about that long ago era that made everyone look like they stepped out of a magazine? Any way to get that kind of mojo back? We could use it.
